Description: Blue Jays starter Ramon Ortiz is scheduled for an MRI on Monday to evaluate his right elbow.
Insight: The 40-year-old Ortiz pitched well in the minors, at Triple-A Buffalo, but that had not translated into big league performance and his fantasy value was minimal. This injury could be career-ending.

Description: Yankees minor league starter Ramon Ortiz is 6-3 with a 2.98 ERA in 13 starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.
Insight: The 39-year-old Ortiz has actually been the Yankees most effective pitcher in Triple-A this season. He's second in innings to Adam Warren but Ortiz has a 1.11 WHIP to Warren's 1.46. Warren was just promoted to the big leagues to start after CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte hit the disabled list. If Freddy Garcia or Warren fail to impress, Ortiz may get a shot.

Description: Yankees minor league starter Ramon Ortiz has won three straight starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Insight: On the season, Ortiz is 3-3 with a 3.35 ERA in eight starts. While the 39-year-old doesn't have much upside or an inside track on a major league job, he's a player to keep in mind if the Yankees end up needing a starting pitcher for an extended period of time. There's no guarantee that New York will call on Freddy Garcia or David Phelps if one of its starting pitchers goes down.

Description: Ortiz pitched four scoreless innings on Monday against the Angels. He walked none and struck out five.
Insight: Ortiz is making a strong case to win a spot in the Dodgers' starting rotation. (SportsBuff.com)

Description: The Dodgers signed Ortiz to a minor league contract on Wednesday.
Insight: Ortiz has not appeared in a major league game since 2007. He was 5-6 with a 3.05 ERA last season in Triple-A. (SportsBuff.com)
