Phillies avoid arbitration with Bastardo
Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies avoided arbitration with left-hander Antonio Bastardo on Tuesday, agreeing to a $2 million deal with the reliever.
Bastardo, who had been seeking $2.5 million, was 3-2 last season with a pair of saves and a 2.32 ERA in 48 relief appearances before being suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball for his part in the Biogenesis scandal.
The 28-year-old Dominican is 15-11 lifetime with 11 saves and a 3.65 ERA in 208 games (5 starts).
Outfielder Ben Revere is the only remaining arbitration player for the Phillies, who had a busy day on Tuesday, agreeing to minor league deals with both outfielder Bobby Abreu and reliever Chad Gaudin.
