Pick up Gio Gonzalez now

Gio Gonzalez is now in The Show.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - For those of you who saw my story about lefthander Gio Gonzalez on July 12th and heeded my call to watch the future star, now is the time to act.

Gonzalez was called up on Tuesday and will make his first big league start on Wednesday as the Oakland Athletics will push Justin Duchscherer's next start back until Thursday.

"Wednesday was Gio's regular day (to pitch) and I wanted to give Duchscherer a regular day's rest," said Oakland manager Bob Geren. "We feel like he's ready..."He has electric stuff...He's another big piece of what we're building here."

After a slow start this year, Gonzalez was 8-7 with a 4.24 ERA at Sacramento, striking out 128 batters in 123 innings. In his last start, against Nashville, Gonzalez gave up two hits over eight shutout innings while striking out nine.

If he is available in your league, pick him up today. He just might be the next Tim Lincecum.
