Description: David Perron scored both Edmonton goals Tuesday in a 6-2 loss to Phoenix.
Insight: Perron's first season in Edmonton has been a success. In 25 games, he's already generated 22 points in a little over 19 and a half minutes per game. As long as he stays healthy, Perron should continue to be a productive fantasy player.
Description: Canes left wing Jeff Skinner made his presence felt with a solid night Tuesday versus Washington.
Insight: He was involved in three of the four goals Carolina scored (two goals, one assist) on Tuesday. Skinner has followed up a five-game scoring drought by netting goals in two of his last three contests.
Description: Penguins left wing Jussi Jokinen's goal Saturday against the Panthers was his first since Nov. 9.
Insight: Beau Bennett's leg injury opened the door for Jokinen to move back onto Evgeni Malkin's line, which definitely helps his fantasy value. The 30-year-old has nine goals and 18 points in 28 games.
Description: Bruins left wing Milan Lucic scored two goals and spent five minutes in the penalty box Saturday against the Blue Jackets.
Insight: Lucic has 10 goals and 20 points in 28 games after scoring just seven goals with 27 points in 46 last season. However, he has 21 PIM this season after averaging 1.48 penalty minutes per game over his first six seasons. His newfound discipline has hurt his fantasy value.
Description: Rangers winger Rick Nash has scored a goal in three straight games.
Insight: He had a goal, two assists, five SOG and a +3 Saturday against the Canucks in what was by far his best game of the season for fantasy purposes. The winger appears to be rounding back into form after missing six weeks due to a concussion.
Description: Pittsburgh left wing Chris Kunitz helped his case for Team Canada by scoring two goals Friday versus Tampa Bay.
Insight: Kunitz is supposedly on the bubble for Canada's Olympic roster but it's hard to imagine them passing on a guy who already has 13 goals in his first 27 games. The Penguins are now 2-0 against the Lightning this season.
Description: Somehow, Wild left wing Zach Parise (foot contusion) was able to return Friday against Colorado after being given a 2-to-3 week recovery timetable earlier in the week. SOURCE: Michael Russo, Minneapolis Star Tribune
Insight: Parise only ended up missing one game. Employ the talented 29-year-old as you normally would.
Description: Hurricanes winger Alexander Semin on injured reserve with a concussion is expected to begin skating next week.
Insight: There is no timetable for his return as is usually for concussions, but this is a good start. He has nine points in 20 games this season, but has shown he's capable of putting together a big season in the right situations.
Description: St. Louis left wing Alex Steen has scored three goals in the last two games.
Insight: Steen looked to be going into a regression period when he had zero points in three games from Nov. 17-21, but he has rebounded with four points in the last three. There's no way anyone can be skeptical at this point, as Steen has 20 goals and 30 points in 24 games.
Description: Senators winger Bobby Ryan has 13 goals, 24 points and 69 SOG through 25 games with his new team.
Insight: Ryan potted two goals Wednesday at Washington, giving him 13 in 25 games after scoring just 11 in 46 last season with Anaheim. He's a four-time 30-goal scorer and should make it five this season.
Description: Buffalo winger Matt Moulson's goal Wednesday against the Canadiens was his first since his first game with the team back on Oct. 28.
Insight: Moulson has just three goals and 10 points in 13 games with the Sabres, and six of his points came in his first four games with the team. His fantasy value took a huge hit when he was traded from the New York Islanders to Buffalo.
Description: Minnesota left wing Zach Parise (foot) surprisingly participated in Tuesday's morning skate, one day after being given a 2-3 week timetable due to a foot contusion. SOURCE: startribune.com
Insight: Parise, who suffered the injury while blocking an Alex Steen slap shot Monday night, won't play Wednesday night but should be back sooner than initially expected. "I was stunned to be honest with you," Wild coach Mike Yeo said about Parise participating Tuesday. "I shouldn’t say that because that’s the way he is talking to him even yesterday. It’s very encouraging. It’s a great example to everybody just how bad he wants to compete and help the team."
Description: Pittsburgh left wing James Neal contributed two goals in Monday's loss to the Bruins.
Insight: He also assisted on Sidney Crosby's miraculous game-tying goal at the end of regulation. Unfortunately for the Pens, Torey Krug netted the game-winner for Boston just 34 seconds into overtime.
Description: Montreal winger Michael Bournival was helped to the locker room after blocking a shot in the third period Friday.
Insight: Bournival has a point in two straight games despite skating less than nine minutes in both and has been able to provide six goals, 11 points and 38 SOG in 20 games this season while skating 12:16 per game.
Description: Pittsburgh left wing James Neal had a pair of helpers Friday against New York.
Insight: Neal missed the first five weeks of the season with an upper-body injury. He has recorded two goals and seven points in seven games since returning, including four points in the last two games.
Description: Islanders left wing Thomas Vanek missed Tuesday's game against Toronto and is listed as questionable for Friday's game against Pittsburgh, but according to Arthur Staple of Newsday he'll play.
Insight: Tuesday was the fifth game in a row he's missed because of an upper body injury. Fantasy owners need his production (12 points in 19 games) back in the lineup asap.
Description: Hurricanes winger Alexander Semin has a concussion and has been placed on injured reserve.
Insight: He's having an off year, scoring three goals and producing nine points in 20 games this season after posting a point-a-game last year. There is no timetable for his return as is usually early on for concussions.
Description: Edmonton left wing David Perron had a monster game Tuesday against Columbus.
Insight: He netted two goals while also contributing two assists. Nearly half of Perron's goals this season (three out of seven) have come on the power play. He's already on pace for 29 goals, which would be a career-high.
