Quarterback Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

Eli Manning, QB, NYG12/28/2014 7:42:00 PM
Description: Giants quarterback Eli Manning was 28-of-53 with 429 yards, touchdown and interception against the Eagles.
Insight: It will be interesting to see if the Giants extend Manning as he has one year left on his contract. Manning finished 2014 with 4,410 yards, 30 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Mark Sanchez, QB, PHI12/28/2014 7:41:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez threw two touchdowns but still didn't avoid turning it over in Week 17.
Insight: Sanchez was 23-of-36 for 292 yards in addition to his two scores and interception. In the right situation, Sanchez could find a starting job and have success next season, but he still turns the ball over way too many times. Sanchez is likely better suited as a backup in a quarterback friendly system.
Drew Brees, QB, NOS12/28/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Saints quarterback Drew Brees had another subpar performance on Sunday.
Insight: Brees threw three interceptions against the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brees was able to salvage the day with a touchdown to extend his streak and lift New Orleans to a victory. Brees finished with 281 passing yards to just miss 5,000 passing yards this season.
Josh McCown, QB, TAM12/28/2014 7:25:00 PM
Description: Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown completed 14-of-23 passes for 115 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Insight: McCown finished with 2,206 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 11 starts this season. Tampa Bay needs a franchise quarterback, and they will have the first overall pick to choose one.
Tom Brady, QB, NEP12/28/2014 7:02:00 PM
Description: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady played the first half, going 8-of-16 for 80 yards.
Insight: Brady and the Patriots said all week how important this game was to their team, but come Sunday, New England pretty much conceded the game. New England will still have home field advantage going to the Super Bowl.
Kyle Orton, QB, BUF12/28/2014 7:00:00 PM
Description: Bills quarterback Kyle Orton had a decent game, going 16-for-23 with 176 yards and a touchdown on Sunday.
Insight: Orton was a good game-manager for the Bills this season as they finished second in the AFC East with a 9-7 record, but look for Buffalo to upgrade the position next season. Orton didn't win many fantasy leagues this season.
Jay Cutler, QB, CHI12/28/2014 6:45:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler avoided any big mistakes and didn't make any big plays in Week 17.
Insight: Cutler did not throw an interception, yet completed just 23-of-36 passes for 172 yards and no touchdowns. It will be interesting to see where Cutler ends up playing next season. He will have a starting job somewhere.
Teddy Bridgewater, QB, MIN12/28/2014 6:43:00 PM
Description: Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater completed 17-of-29 passes for 209 yards against the Bears.
Insight: Bridgewater also threw a touchdown and interception. We believe Bridgewater has been the most impressive rookie quarterback this season, and if Adrian Peterson comes back next season or other upgrades are made on offense, Bridgewater could be a decent late-round draft pick.
Ryan Tannehill, QB, MIA12/28/2014 6:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill had another decent fantasy day in Week 17.
Insight: Tannehill was 23-of-39 for 259 yards and a touchdown. The Jets, however, sacked Tannehill seven times. For anyone still doubting if the league is a passing league, Tannehill had a 4,000-yard passing season.
Geno Smith, QB, NYJ12/28/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Jets quarterback Geno Smith may be in the mist of his great stretch of his career.
Insight: Too bad the season is now over. Smith completed 20-of-25 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns against the Dolphins. Perhaps that will save his job or Rex Ryan, but probably not. Smith still 13 touchdowns versus 13 interceptions in 14 starts this season.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, GBP12/28/2014 6:22:00 PM
Description: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers re-injuring the calf in the second quarter and had to be helped to the locker room, according to beat reporter Rob Demovsky.
Insight: He was running out of the pocket and pulled up without being hit. Rodgers was 6-of-9 for 97 yards and a touchdown to Randall Cobb. Update: Rodgers has returned, but his movement will be limited.
Philip Rivers, QB, SDC12/28/2014 6:00:00 PM
Description: Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had a horrible Week 17 against the Chiefs.
Insight: Rivers was 20-for-34 for 291 yards, but he threw two interceptions and no touchdowns. Quite disappointing for a team who had a great December record coming into the game.
Chase Daniel, QB, KAN12/28/2014 5:58:00 PM
Description: Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel played well in his second career NFL start.
Insight: Daniel started hot but completed just three of his final 10 passes. Daniel finished 16-of-27 for 157 yards. He didn't turn it over, however, he did take four sacks. With as bad as some starting and backup quarterbacks around the league have played this season, this was a nice performance.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, GBP12/28/2014 5:42:00 PM
Description: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers re-injuring the calf in the second quarter and had to be helped to the locker room, according to beat reporter Rob Demovsky.
Insight: He was running out of the pocket and pulled up without being hit. Rodgers was 6-of-9 for 97 yards and a touchdown to Randall Cobb. Matt Flynn would replace him in the next series.
Blake Bortles, QB, JAC12/28/2014 5:41:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles did better running the ball than he did throwing in Week 17.
Insight: Bortles led the team in rushing with 61 yards on three carries, but through the air, Bortles continued to struggle, completing 14-of-33 passes for 117 yards. He will likely get another season to develop, but he didn't look very good in his rookie season.
Case Keenum, QB, HOU12/28/2014 5:39:00 PM
Description: After not winning a game last season, Texans quarterback Case Keenum went 2-0 in 2014.
Insight: Keenum went 25-for-35 for 250 yards, two touchdowns and an interception versus the Jaguars. The interception was almost costly as it was returned for a touchdown, but Houston still won, 23-17. Keenum could possibly in play in training camp for Houston next season.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, GBP12/28/2014 5:33:00 PM
Description: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a leg injury in the second quarter and had to be helped to the locker room.
Insight: He was running out of the pocket and pulled up without being hit. We await further word. Rodgers was 6-of-9 for 97 yards and a touchdown to Randall Cobb. Matt Flynn will replace him in the next series.
Charlie Whitehurst, QB, TEN12/28/2014 5:23:00 PM
Description: Titans quarterback Charlie Whitehurst avoided all big mistakes but still couldn't complete 50 percent of his passes versus the Colts.
Insight: Whitehurst was 12-for-28 with 72 yards and a touchdown. He is obviously not going to be the long-term solution for Ken Whisenhunt as Whitehurst averaged 2.6 yards per attempt.
Andrew Luck, QB, IND12/28/2014 5:21:00 PM
Description: Colts quarterback Andrew Luck had a huge bounce back game in Week 17.
Insight: Luck was 10-for-16 with 160 yards and two touchdowns. It obviously wasn't a huge day yardage wise, but this should give back the quarterback's confidence heading into the postseason.
Robert Griffin III, QB, WAS12/28/2014 5:03:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III did not go out with a bang if Sunday was indeed his last start in the nation's capital.
Insight: Griffin was 27-of-41 with 336 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Griffin did run for a score, which helped his fantasy total. It will be interesting to see what Washington does this offseason.
Tony Romo, QB, DAL12/28/2014 5:02:00 PM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo played the entire game against Washington in Week 17, throwing for 299 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Insight: It's too bad Romo missed the 300-yard bonus, but he had a good day overall. He continues to look for Dez Bryant, which is always a good idea. Romo didn't have as many yards in years past, 3,705, but he finished 2014 with 34 touchdowns and only nine interceptions.
Connor Shaw, QB, CLE12/28/2014 4:45:00 PM
Description: Undrafted rookie quarterback Connor Shaw was ok in his first NFL start.
Insight: Shaw didn't make any huge mistakes like Johnny Manziel did although he did fumble a snap and throw an interception. Shaw was 14-of-28 for 177 yards. The Browns finished the season with three offensive touchdowns in their last four games and losers in their final five games.
Joe Flacco, QB, BAL12/28/2014 4:43:00 PM
Description: Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had a strong fourth quarter to save the team from disaster in Week 17.
Insight: The Ravens played uninspired football for three quarters, but he threw two touchdown passes in the final stanza. Flacco finished 22-of-26 with 312 yards and two touchdowns.
Philip Rivers, QB, SDC12/28/2014 12:09:00 PM
Description: Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Insight: Not a surprise here as Rivers with the playoffs on the line. Rivers was listed as probable with chest and back injuries, but that was likely just a formality. Rivers is a low-end QB1 against a tough Chiefs defense on the road.
Tom Brady, QB, NEP12/27/2014 10:58:00 AM
Description: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to play about half the game Sunday, according to Boston Globe's Ben Volin.
Insight: Obviously it's just an educated guess as Bill Belichick keeps his plans closer to the vest than the CIA. If true, he's not fantasy worthy against a tough Bills defense.
Connor Shaw, QB, CLE12/26/2014 1:50:00 PM
Description: Undrafted quarterback Connor Shaw will make his first NFL start this Sunday against the Ravens.
Insight: With Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer both injured, the Browns will hand the starting quarterback role to Shaw. Although it is a long shot for Shaw to become a full-time starter, with Cleveland still searching for a quarterback, this start can be viewed as an audition. For daily leagues, Shaw will be a great bargain and maybe he can put up a good day with the help of Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron against a beat up Ravens secondary.
Alex Smith, QB, KAN12/26/2014 1:36:00 PM
Description: Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has been ruled out for Week 17 against the Chargers due to a lacerated spleen.
Insight: Smith suffered the injury in Week 16's game against the Steelers, but he was able to finish the game. There is only an outside shot the Chiefs make the playoffs, however, even if they do, Smith will be out six weeks with this injury and probably won't be able to return until the Super Bowl. Chase Daniel, who has a similar skillset to Smith, will start versus the Chargers in a must-win game.
Johnny Manziel, QB, CLE12/25/2014 9:35:00 AM
Description: Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel will have a "chance to compete" for next season's starting gig, according to coach Mike Pettine.
Insight: That's not a great endorsement and it makes Manziel a gamble to keep in dynasty leagues. He'll have to grow up and work harder at his profession if he wants to make it as an NFL quarterback. He can't slide through on just his talent alone like he did in college. Hopefully, he's learned that lesson in this rookie season.
Drew Stanton, QB, ARI12/24/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Arizona coach Bruce Arians says quarterback Drew Stanton 85 percent to return for the playoffs.
Insight: The coach knows he can't win a playoff game with Ryan Lindley or rookie Logan Thomas.
Philip Rivers, QB, SDC12/23/2014 11:05:00 AM
Description: Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is dealing with a bulging disk in his back, but with a playoff spot on the line we expect him to be out there against kansas City.
Insight: Rivers threw for 356 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions as he led an impressive comeback in Week 16 against the 49ers. There is a chance he gets Keenan Allen back too.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, GBP12/23/2014 10:59:00 AM
Description: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still dealing with a calf injury that limits him movement, but he's going to play Sunday in the showdown with Detroit.
Insight: He was 31-of-40 for 318 yards and a 108.1 passer rating versus Tampa Bay last Sunday. It's a much tougher defense he faces Sunday, but with a lot riding on the game, Rodgers will be in the lineup.
Andy Dalton, QB, CIN12/23/2014 9:33:00 AM
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton kept it simply against Denver, handing the ball off and throwing short passes.
Insight: Dalton was working with an injured A.J. Green which mean't no deep threat. He was 18-of-26 for 146 yards, two touchdowns and an early "pick-six."
Peyton Manning, QB, DEN12/23/2014 9:16:00 AM
Description: Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was completely off his game Monday night against Cincinnati.
Insight: Manning still threw for 311 yards and a pair of touchdown strikes to Emmanuel Sanders, but he was also picked off four times. The rain didn't help, but it was a sieve-like offensive line that hurt the most.
Andrew Luck, QB, IND12/22/2014 5:40:00 PM
Description: Colts coach Chuck Pagano announced Indianapolis will play their starters in Week 17 versus the Titans according to the Indianapolis Star.
Insight: Indianapolis will either be a No. 3 or 4 seed for the AFC playoffs, so there is very little to play for in Week 17, but the Colts are likely trying to build some momentum heading into the postseason. The Colts stars will be in play for fantasy purposes.
Johnny Manziel, QB, CLE12/22/2014 4:27:00 PM
Description: Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel is out for Week 17.
Insight: It's obviously a little unfair to call Manziel a bust after two games, but he had an awful game versus the Bengals and then left with an injury versus the Panthers to end one of the worst seasons for an overhyped first-round pick. Again, it was one game, but he needs to dramatically improve his pocket presence and throwing technique which could be hard with an average arm at best. His big play ability is also somewhat limited because the speed of the NFL game is so much faster than college football. We do not expect Manziel to be the opening day starter for Cleveland next season.
Ryan Lindley, QB, ARICold12/22/2014 4:22:00 PM
Description: Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley could be benched in favor of rookie Logan Thomas fopr Week 17, according to local reports.
Insight: Lindley was obviously not a recommended option against Seattle's top-notch defense Sunday night and finished the night 18-of-44 for 216 yards and one interception.
Logan Thomas, QB, ARICold12/22/2014 4:18:00 PM
Description: Local reports have rookie backup Logan Thomas as the Cardinals starter in Week 17.
Insight: Based on what we saw Sunday night that seems to be a good move. Ryan Lindley had nothing going in the game, with an 18-of-44 for 216 yards and one interception line.
Jimmy Clausen, QB, CHI12/22/2014 4:17:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen suffered a concussion against the Lions on Sunday and will miss Week 17 according to the Chicago Tribune.
Insight: Clausen took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Detroit defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah, but didn't miss a snap. Clausen, however, went to the hospital after the game. Jay Cutler will be back under center for Week 17 against the Vikings.
Nick Foles, QB, PHI12/22/2014 1:35:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles' collarbone is healing normally, but he has not been cleared and will not play in Week 17, according to coach Chip Kelly.
Insight: Mark Sanchez is showing why he's a backup quarterback and not a starter, but with nothing to play for, there is no reason to hurry Foles back into the lineup.
Shaun Hill, QB, STL12/22/2014 10:31:00 AM
Description: Rams quarterback Shaun Hill threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
Insight: Hill is not a fantasy-worthy quarterback over the long haul, but sometimes posts respectable numbers, like Sunday. Sam Bradford anyone?
Eli Manning, QB, NYG12/22/2014 10:20:00 AM
Description: Giants quarterback Eli Manning had a great day versus St. Louis at the perfect time for his fantasy owners.
Insight: Manning went 25-of-32 for 391 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. That's six touchdowns and no turnovers over the past two games. Brother Peyton will be hard-pressed to match Sunday's numbers.
Tony Romo, QB, DAL12/22/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo came through with a division title on the line, going 18-of-20 for 218 yards and four touchdowns.
Insight: With a questionable DeMarco Murray (hand), Romo picked the perfect time for be nearly perfect. Cowboys fans will finally get to taste the playoffs. Fantasy owners liked it too.
Andrew Luck, QB, IND12/22/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: Colts quarterback Andrew Luck couldn't have picked a worst time for a clunker.
Insight: Luck leads all fantasy scoring for the 2014 season, but has his worst day of the year, throwing for just 109 yards and two interceptions. And in Championship Week!
Derek Carr, QB, OAK12/22/2014 9:58:00 AM
Description: Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr was a solid game manager in the game against Buffalo.
Insight: Carr did not throw an interception and threw for 214 yards and a pair of short touchdowns. He's not fantasy worthy at this time, but we see possibilities down the road.
Kyle Orton, QB, BUF12/22/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Bills quarterback Kyle Orton benefitted from two fourth quarter drives, one in garbage time, to post solid fantasy numbers.
Insight: Orton was 32-of-49 with 329 yards three touchdowns and two interceptions. Losing to Oakland was certainly unexpected, but Orton's passing totals were about what fantasy owners thought he could do against an Oakland defense that has yielded 405 points.
Ryan Lindley, QB, ARI12/22/2014 9:35:00 AM
Description: Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley started Week 16 versus Seattle and it turned out about as bad as you would expect.
Insight: Lindley was obviously not a recommended option against Seattle's top-notch defense and finished the night 18-of-44 for 216 yards and one interception.
Russell Wilson, QB, SEAHot12/22/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was unstoppable Sunday night against a supposedly very good Cardinals defense.
Insight: Wilson made them look silly at times. He threw for 339 yards and a pair of touchdowns and ran for 88 yards and a third score. On the rushing TD, two Cardinals defensers were standing right in front of him and didn't lay a glove on him.
Geno Smith, QB, NYJ12/21/2014 6:18:00 PM
Description: Jets quarterback Geno Smith was decent during Sunday's loss against the Patriots.
Insight: He went 17-of-27 for 210 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. It will be interesting to see if Smith is back in New York next season.
Tom Brady, QB, NEP12/21/2014 6:13:00 PM
Description: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was just okay on Sunday against the Jets.
Insight: He went 23-of-35 for 182 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Owners would have liked to have seen a lot more.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, PIT12/21/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisbergerthrew for 220 yards during Week 16's win over the Chiefs.
Insight: He was 18-of-25 and had a touchdown as well. Roethlisberger now has 30 touchdowns and just eight interceptions on the season.
Alex Smith, QB, KAN12/21/2014 6:00:00 PM
Description: Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith threw for 311 yards during Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
Insight: However, he did not throw for a touchdown which obviously hurt owners. Smith is really more of a QB2, as he continues to be a game-manager.
Josh McCown, QB, TAM12/21/2014 5:54:00 PM
Description: Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown was not good in Sunday's loss to the Packers.
Insight: He went 12-of-26 for 147 yards and one interception. Tampa Bay needs to find a franchise quarterback.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, GBP12/21/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was efficient on Sunday, but passed for only one touchdown.
Insight: He was 31-of-40 for 318 yards and a 108.1 passer rating. Owners however, expected more than one touchdown.
Drew Brees, QB, NOS12/21/2014 5:45:00 PM
Description: Saints quarterback Drew Brees had a subpar afternoon on Sunday.
Insight: He went 30-of-47 for 313 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Brees also lost a fumble and was sacked a total of five times.
Matt Ryan, QB, ATL12/21/2014 5:40:00 PM
Description: Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had a solid day during Sunday's win over the Saints.
Insight: He went 30-of-40 for 322 yards and one score. Ryan has played well down the stretch and will now try and help Atlanta earn a playoff berth in Week 17.
Cam Newton, QB, CAR12/21/2014 5:36:00 PM
Description: Panthers quarterback Cam Newton looked healthy during Week 16's win over the Browns.
Insight: He was very mobile, rushing 12 times for 63 yards and a touchdown. Newton also threw for 201 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Brian Hoyer, QB, PIT12/21/2014 5:32:00 PM
Description: Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer came in relief of the injured Johnny Manziel, and threw for 134 yards.
Insight: 81 of those yards came on a touchdown pass to Jordan Cameron. Hoyer also tossed an interception in limited action.
Jimmy Clausen, QB, CHI12/21/2014 5:28:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen threw two touchdowns during Sunday's loss to the Lions.
Insight: Clausen threw for 181 yards and an interception as well, and actually did a decent job. He will likely start Week 17.
Matthew Stafford, QB, DET12/21/2014 5:21:00 PM
Description: Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was quiet yet again in Week 16.
Insight: He did not find the end zone, and totaled 243 yards and two interceptions. Pretty disappointing for a QB1 in the championship round.
Case Keenum, QB, HOU12/21/2014 5:15:00 PM
Description: Texans quarterback Case Keenum managed the team to a victory.
Insight: He went 20-of-42 for 185 yards and one interception, along with recording 19 rushing yards. Keenum will not be a recommended option for Week 17.
Joe Flacco, QB, BAL12/21/2014 5:10:00 PM
Description: Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had a terrible performance on Sunday.
Insight: He went 21-of-50 for 195 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. Flacco threw for only 27 yards in the first half and finished with a 41.7 passer rating.
Ryan Tannehill, QB, MIA12/21/2014 5:02:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a monster game on Sunday.
Insight: He was 35-of-47 for 396 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Tannehill will be a borderline QB1 for Week 17, in leagues that are still going on.
Teddy Bridgewater, QB, MIN12/21/2014 4:58:00 PM
Description: Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw for 259 yards and two scores during Week 16's loss to the Dolphins.
Insight: He was 19-of-26 and also rushed for 13 yards. Bridgewater will be an interesting option for the 2015 season.
Johnny Manziel, QB, CLE12/21/2014 3:29:00 PM
Description: Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel left Sunday's game during the second quarter.
Insight: He will not return, and he threw for just 32 yards before exiting. Brian Hoyer will be the signal-caller with Manziel out.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, PIT12/21/2014 3:25:00 PM
Description: Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has some sort of right knee injury, but is expected to return..
Insight: Roethlisberger is the glue that makes the Steelers engine run and without him they would be lost.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, GBP12/21/2014 1:36:00 PM
Description: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is dealing with a left leg injury and apparently was ill Saturday and into today.
Insight: We expect he'll tough it out with so much on the line.
Case Keenum, QB, HOU12/21/2014 11:58:00 AM
Description: The Texans still have yet to announce their starting quarterback for Week 16.
Insight: Case Keenum is expected to get the nod, however, head coach Bill O'Brien has yet to confirm the reports. Whomever starts, Thad Lewis or Keenum, will be no more than a QB2.
Cam Newton, QB, CAR12/21/2014 11:33:00 AM
Description: Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (back) is officially active for Week 16 against the Browns.
Insight: We expect Newton to be limited in regards to his running game, but he will have an opporunity to produce with Joe Haden out. He is a borderline QB1.
Colin Kaepernick, QB, SFX12/21/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick did some damage on the ground during Week 16's loss to the Chargers.
Insight: He had seven carries for 151 yards, including a 90-yard touchdown run. Kaepernick also threw for 114 yards and another score to Bruce Ellington.
Philip Rivers, QB, SDC12/21/2014 9:58:00 AM
Description: Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers led an impressive comeback in Week 16 against the 49ers.
Insight: He threw for 356 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. Rivers did most of his damage in the second half, throwing for three of those scores. He has 31 touchdowns and 16 interceptions overall.
Robert Griffin III, QB, WAS12/20/2014 7:52:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III did enough to help the Redskins win during Week 16 against Philadelphia.
Insight: He threw for 220 yards and one interception, while scrambling for 11 more yards. Griffin will be a QB2 for the final week of the season.
Mark Sanchez, QB, PHI12/20/2014 7:44:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez played very well during Week 16's loss to the Redskins.
Insight: He was 37-of-50 for 374 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Sanchez also lost a fumble, but it was a nice fantasy day nevertheless.
Case Keenum, QB, STL12/19/2014 2:16:00 PM
Description: Texans quarterback Case Keenum is the favorite to start in Week 16, according to Kevin Patra of nfl.com.
Insight: It's Keenum or Thad Lewis, who doesn't know the offense as well as Keenum.
Cam Newton, QB, CAR12/19/2014 2:04:00 PM
Description: Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (back) put in another practice and is probable for Week 16.
Insight: While we expect Newton to give it a go Sunday against the Browns, owners shouldn't expect to get the running Newton, only the passer and that limits his fantasy value.
Blake Bortles, QB, JAC12/19/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles wasn't pretty, but led his team to a 21-13 Thursday night victory.
Insight: Bortles was 23-of-26 for 115 yards and a touchdown and rushed five times for 50 yards. The Jaguars running game was the key to this victory, not Bortles arm. Bortles has shown flashes this season, but will need much better protection in front of him if he's to become fantasy worthy in 2015.
Charlie Whitehurst, QB, TEN12/19/2014 9:13:00 AM
Description: Titans quarterback Charlie Whitehurst was 24-of-35 for 287 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions against Jacksonville.
Insight: Whitehurst still can't throw the deep ball, but played well. Of course, "Charlie Checkdown's" leading receiver was running back Leon Washington with seven catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Peyton Manning, QB, DEN12/18/2014 1:40:00 PM
Description: Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning did not practice Thursday.
Insight: Manning is coming off an illness and a thigh bruise and was given the day off to rest. He should be good to go in Week 16.
Jimmy Clausen, QB, CHI12/17/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen will start in Week 16.
Insight: That's how bad it is in Chicago. The Bears $127 million quarterback is headed to the bench in favor of Clausen. It seems highly unlikely Cutler is going anywhere with his massive guaranteed contract for the next two years, so this start isn't a try out for Clausen.
Jay Cutler, QB, CHI12/17/2014 7:19:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been benched according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Insight: Hard to believe Cutler is being benched considering he is in his first year of a, seven-year, $127 million contract extension. Cutler has obviously regressed in the second year of Marc Trestman's offense, but with his contract guaranteed for the next two seasons, the Bears are stuck with him, and it seems silly to bench him for journeyman Jimmy Clausen. Regardless, any owners hoping to use Cutler this week are out of luck.
Blake Bortles, QB, JAC12/17/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles will be active for Thursday night's game against the Titans.
Insight: That's good considering Bortles is about the only thing that viewers might be tuning in to watch. Bortles has still be flat out bad at times, with just multiple touchdowns in two of 12 appearances. He has also taken 46 sacks, but if owners are desperate, Bortles will be available.
Cam Newton, QB, CAR12/17/2014 2:02:00 PM
Description: Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (back) returned to practice on Wednesday.
Insight: It was a limited session, but progress nonetheless. While we expect Newton to give it a go Sunday against the Browns, owners should monitor his progress throughout the week
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, HOU12/16/2014 6:21:00 PM
Description: Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been placed on injured reserve with a broken leg.
Insight: Tom Savage is also sidelined, leaving Houston to turn to either Case Keenum or Thad Lewis.
Colt McCoy, QB, WAS12/16/2014 2:35:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy re-injured his neck and is apparently going to be placed on injured reserve ending his season.
Insight: Robert Griffin III is the next man up. He filled in for McCoy after the injury and threw for 236 yards and a touchdown.
Jay Cutler, QB, CHI12/16/2014 9:49:00 AM
Description: The "bad" Jay Cutler was on display Monday night against New Orleans.
Insight: Cutler had 194 yards passing on 31 attempts with a pair of touchdown passes and three interceptions. It's always a guessing game which Cutler will show up each week and that's a problem in a one-and-done fantasy playoff system.
Drew Brees, QB, NOS12/16/2014 9:35:00 AM
Description: Saints quarterback Drew Brees was on target for most of the evening and posted 375 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.
Insight: Brees hasn't been the consistent 300-yard thrower we've seen in past seasons, but he came up with a big one when it counted in the fantasy playoffs.
Jake Locker, QB, TEN12/15/2014 4:55:00 PM
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker (dislocated shoulder) was placed on injured reserve.
Insight: His season is over, and Locker will be a free agent during the offseason. He will likely sign a deal to compete for a backup job. If Zach Mettenberger is healthy, he will likely start. If not, Charlie Whitehurst will get the nod. Jordan Palmer was signed to take Locker's roster spot.
Robert Griffin III, QB, WAS12/15/2014 4:50:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III will likely start Saturday against Philadelphia.
Insight: Colt McCoy is dealing with a neck injury, paving way for Griffin to get another look. He will be a decent option against Philadelphia's suspect defense.
Ryan Lindley, QB, ARI12/15/2014 4:49:00 PM
Description: Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley will start Week 16 versus Seattle.
Insight: No surprise here, but Lindley will not be a recommended option against Seattle's top-notch defense.
Blake Bortles, QB, JAC12/15/2014 1:58:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles suffered a mid-foot sprain, according to beat writer John Oehser.
Insight: Bortles took eight more sacks in Week 15, which brings his total to 46 on the season and this is part of the consequences of not protecting your quarterback. He should be considered unlikely to play Thursday on a short work week.
Nick Foles, QB, PHI12/15/2014 1:39:00 PM
Description: Eagles quarterback Nick Foles' collarbone is healing normally, but he has not been cleared and will not play in Week 16, according to coach Chip Kelly.
Insight: Mark Sanchez is showing why he's a backup quarterback and not a starter, but he'll have to turn things around in Week 16 if the Eagles are to have any chance to reach the playoffs.
Philip Rivers, QB, SDC12/15/2014 11:22:00 AM
Description: Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers threw 41 times, but produced just 232 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
Insight: Rivers couldn't get anything going for a second straight weekend as the Chargers scored just 10 points. The early season MVP talk has long since disappeared.
Peyton Manning, QB, DEN12/15/2014 11:11:00 AM
Description: Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning had his fantasy owners in a panic when he headed to the locker room two minutes before the end of the first half and backup Brock Osweiler ran the final series.
Insight: Manning did return for the first series of the second half and played the remainder of the game. He was dealing with a thigh issue and flu-like symptoms. He should be good to go in Week 16. Manning threw for 233 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers, not up to his high standards, but better than Week 14.
Geno Smith, QB, NYJ12/15/2014 10:53:00 AM
Description: Jets quarterback Geno Smith led the team to a 16-11 victory.
Insight: Smith passed for 179 yards and a touchdown to John Conner. It was a win, but it certainly wasn't fantasy worthy.
Matthew Stafford, QB, DETCold12/15/2014 10:35:00 AM
Description: Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was very quiet in a 16-14 win over Minnesota.
Insight: He was 17-of-28 for 153 yards and one touchdown. The Vikings dominated time of possession and Stafford and the offense couldn't get much going. he should be much better in Week 16 against a very giving Bears defense.
Teddy Bridgewater, QB, MIN12/15/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater threw for 315 yards and a touchdown, but was hurt by two interceptions.
Insight: He also rushed for 30 yards. Bridgewater has dramatically improved since the start of the season, but still has to cut down on the errors.
Russell Wilson, QB, SEA12/15/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was quiet in Week 15 with 168 yards and a touchdown passing and 27 yards on the ground.
Insight: Games like this one are why Wilson's fantasy value is limited. He's not a prolific passer, doesn't have great receivers and the team can win even when they are ultra conservative on offense because of their great defense.
Colin Kaepernick, QB, SFXCold12/15/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick couldn't get his, or the team's offense going ... again.
Insight: Kaepernick threw for just 141 yards and ran for 46 yards. He still hasn't run for a touchdown all season and his team produced just seven points against the Seahawks. Not surprising results and fantasy owners shouldn't have started him.
Mark Sanchez, QB, PHICold12/15/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez proved once again why he's a backup quarterback.
Insight: Sanchez threw for 252 yards, but didn't throw a touchdown pass and was picked off two times. He's yet to come up with a good effort in a big game and come next season should be back in a reserve role.
Tony Romo, QB, DAL12/15/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo featured Dez Bryant and Jason Witten and he posted solid numbers against the Eagles.
Insight: Witten made the first downs and Bryant scored three times as Romo racked up 265 yards and three touchdowns. He looked much healthier than he did the last times these two teams met on Thanksgiving Day.
Robert Griffin III, QB, WAS12/14/2014 7:42:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III came off the bench for the injured Colt McCoy and played pretty well.
Insight: Griffin was 18-for-27 with 236 yards and a touchdown, though, many Washington fans likely believe Griffin scored a rushing touchdown at the end of the first half too. Griffin dove for the pilon but fumbled out of bounds just before scoring. With the time expired, Washington did not have another opportunity to score. Although those previous numbers are alright, Griffin did also fumble three times, losing one, and take seven sacks.
Eli Manning, QB, NYG12/14/2014 7:39:00 PM
Description: Giants quarterback Eli Manning had a very good fanasy day versus Washington.
Insight: Manning threw for three touchdowns and avoided a turnover. Manning was 23-of-34 with 250 passing yards in the, 24-13, victory.
Ryan Tannehill, QB, MIA12/14/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was 29-of-47 with 346 yards but those numbers are a bit misleading.
Insight: Tannehill struggled in New England like he always does, throwing two interceptions and taking four sacks. Tannehill is better served as a QB2.
Tom Brady, QB, NEPHot12/14/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for a pair of touchdowns again in Week 15.
Insight: Brady has at least two touchdown passes in 10 straight weeks, which is every game since the debacle at Kansas City. Brady was 21-of-35 with 287 yards and his only blemish was the one interception.
Derek Carr, QB, OAK12/14/2014 7:07:00 PM
Description: Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr was not good against the Chiefs in Week 15.
Insight: Carr did not throw an interception, but he did lose a fumble and average just 4.0 yards per attempt. Carr attempted 56 passes, so he did manage to gain 222 yards through the air. He also had a touchdown.
Alex Smith, QB, KAN12/14/2014 7:05:00 PM
Description: Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith threw for two scores as Kansas City avenged its loss from a few weeks ago against the Raiders, 31-13.
Insight: Smith was 18-of-30 for 297 yards in addition to the scores. Despite having virtually no receivers to throw to, Smith is still a low-end QB1.
Tom Savage, QB, HOU12/14/2014 6:48:00 PM
Description: Texas rookie quarterback Tom Savage was 10-of-19 with his interception after he replaced Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday.
Insight: Savage handed the ball off a lot, which was also an issue and one handoff led to a fumble. Savage isn't exactly fantasy relevant, and he is also undergoing an MRI on his knee. It was a tough day at the office for Texans quarterbacks.
Andrew Luck, QB, IND12/14/2014 6:45:00 PM
Description: Colts quarterback Andrew Luck had another slow start and didn't really recover in Week 15.
Insight: Luck threw a pick-six in the first quarter and did respond with two touchdown passes in the second quarter, but that's about it. Luck was 18-of-37 for 187 yards with the two scores and the interception. The Texans also sacked Luck twice.
Blake Bortles, QB, JAC12/14/2014 6:28:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles still hasn't learned when to get rid of the football.
Insight: Bortles took eight more sacks in Week 15, which brings his total to 46 on the season. As a team, Jacksonville has allowed 62 sacks this season, so it probably isn't all Bortles' shortcomings. Bortles has shown promise this season, but he isn't fantasy relevant.
Joe Flacco, QB, BAL12/14/2014 6:24:00 PM
Description: Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco did enough to beat the lowly Jaguars on Sunday.
Insight: Flacco was 20-for-30 with 221 yards and a touchdown. The Baltimore offense unexpectedly had difficulty running the ball versus Jacksonville so overall, the offense struggled. Flacco is a low-end QB1 in deep leagues.
Josh McCown, QB, TAM12/14/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown was 13-of-28 with a touchdown and interception in Week 15.
Insight: McCown did throw one interception and turnovers have plagued him this season. He is at best a QB2 in deeper leagues.
Derek Anderson, QB, ARI12/14/2014 6:04:00 PM
Description: Panthers quarterback Derek Anderson won his second start of 2014 on Sunday.
Insight: Anderson's 2-0 record would be more impressive if both starters weren't against the Buccaneers. Anderson was 25-of-40 with 277 yards and one touchdown.
Peyton Manning, QB, DEN12/14/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning left the field with 1:53 remaining on the clock in the second quarter due to a thigh injury and is apparently also dealing with flu-like symptoms.
Insight: Manning did warm up after half-time and is out there for the opening drive of the second half.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, GBP12/14/2014 5:48:00 PM
Description: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers picked a horrible time to have his worst game of the season.
Insight: With the fantasy playoffs on the line, Rodgers did not throw a touchdown and threw two interceptions for the first time since Oct. 26. Rodgers completed just 17-of-42 passes for 185 yards. If owners with Rodgers survive this week, he is still a must-start next week.
Peyton Manning, QB, DEN12/14/2014 5:46:00 PM
Description: Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning left the field with 1:53 remaining on the clock in the second quarter due to a thigh injury and is apparently also dealing with flu-like symptoms.
Insight: Manning did warm up after half-time and might return if they fall behind on the scoreboard, but Brock Osweiler will start the second half.
Kyle Orton, QB, BUF12/14/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Bills quarterback Kyle Orton did just enough for Buffalo to beat Green Bay, 21-13, in Week 15.
Insight: Orton was 14-of-27 with 158 yards and an interception. Buffalo won mostly behind great defense and a punt return for a touchdown.
Jake Locker, QB, TEN12/14/2014 5:33:00 PM
Description: Titans quarterback Jake Locker has gone to the locker room with what appears to be a left shoulder injury.
Insight: His return is questionable. That puts Charlie White hurst in the game and that's a problem for all Titans receivers.
Andy Dalton, QB, CIN12/14/2014 5:29:00 PM
Description: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton did not have a great statistical game, but Cincinnati still won, 30-0.
Insight: Dalton was 14-of-24 for 117 yards and threw a pick. Cincinnati was dominate in the running game as they rushed for 224 yards as a team. This looks to be the Bengals philosophy moving forward, so Dalton's fantasy value is limited.
Johnny Manziel, QB, CLE12/14/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: To say Johnny Manziel's first start as a pro was a disappointment is an understatement.
Insight: Manziel was awful, going 10-of-18 for 80 yards and throwing two interceptions. The Bengals also sacked three times. With the Browns basically eliminated from playoff contention, we expect Cleveland to go ahead and stay with Manziel despite this terrible performance.
Peyton Manning, QB, DEN12/14/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning left the field with 1:53 remaining on the clock in the second quarter with an unknown ailment.
Insight: He was trying to block on a play and may have taken a shot to the thigh. Brock Osweiler played one three-and-out series.
Matt Ryan, QB, ATL12/14/2014 5:04:00 PM
Description: Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw for two touchdowns and one interception against the Steelers in Week 15.
Insight: The interception was the difference in the game as William Gay returned it for a touchdown and Atlanta lost, 27-20, but for fantasy owners Ryan had a good day. He was 26-of-37 for 310 yards with the two touchdowns and one turnover. He is a good option next week in New Orleans for fantasy championship week.
Ben Roethlisberger, QB, PIT12/14/2014 5:02:00 PM
Description: Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was very efficient but failed to score in Week 15.
Insight: Roethlisberger was 27-of-35 and threw for 360 yards. That's good enough for a 10.3 yards per attempt average. Not finding the end zone, however, likely hurt his chances of taking many teams to the championship round.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, HOU12/14/2014 2:03:00 PM
Description: Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had been carted off the field and is not expected to return (left leg).
Insight: It's never a good sign when an air cast is involved. Young Tom Savage will take over controls of the offense. Expect to see even more of Arian Foster.
Robert Griffin III, QB, WAS12/14/2014 1:35:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III is in the game after Colt McCoy re-injured his neck.
Insight: Colt McCoy got the start on Sunday, but RGIII is in there now. It's anyone's guess how he will play?
Colt McCoy, QB, WAS12/14/2014 1:28:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy has re-injured his neck and is questionable to return.
Insight: Robert Griffin III is warming up. If you started McCoy, this was a risky choice and it's blowing up in your face.
Colt McCoy, QB, WAS12/14/2014 11:38:00 AM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy has been cleared for Week 15, is active and will start.
Insight: He had handled the first-team reps in practice over the past two days, so no surprise here. He will be a QB2 against the Giants.
