Jacksonville Jaguars Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Denard Robinson, WR10/25/2014 1:02:00 PM
Description: ESPN Jaguars reporter Mike DiRocco has heard the coaches "still aren't sure if [Denard] Robinson is capable of handling a heavy workload each week."
Insight: Robinson had 22 carries for 127 yards against the Browns, but we do not expect Robinson to become a workhorse back and average 20 carries per week. At 197 pounds and behind a below average offensive line, Robinson's touches will be somewhat limited even if he is the featured back. Twenty carries is more like his ceiling than his average.
Denard Robinson, WR10/23/2014 5:08:00 PM
Description: Jaguars coach Gus Bradley confirmed Thursday Denard Robinson will remain the starting running back for Week 8 even though Toby Gerhart is back.
Insight: Robinson ran 22 times for 127 yards against the Browns, so Bradley is sticking with what works. Gerhart has been disappointing since joining Jacksonville. Gerhart will get some carries, but Robinson is the only Jaguars running back worth starting in fantasy.
Toby Gerhart, RB10/22/2014 1:59:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart (foot) is expected to return to practice on Wednesday.
Insight: It will most likely be in limited fashion, and Gerhart should be considered questionable at best heading into Week 8. Denard Robinson has earned his carries, and as a result Gerhart will probably be more of a goaline back.
Clay Harbor, TE10/19/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Jaguars tight end Clay Harbor led the team with six catches on Sunday against the Browns.
Insight: Harbor did not get many yards on those catches as he finished with 34 receiving yards, but it was nice to see him involved in the offense.
Allen Robinson, WR10/19/2014 5:40:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie receiver Allen Robinson had four catches for 60 yards and a touchdown against the Browns on Sunday.
Insight: Cecil Shorts still had more targets than Robinson, but the rookie had the more productive day, averaging 15 yards per catch versus Shorts' 4. Robinson is a FLEX possibility in deep leagues moving forward.
Denard Robinson, WR10/19/2014 5:37:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Denard Robinson rushed 22 times for 127 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against the Browns.
Insight: The Jaguars likely believe they have found their answer to their running blues. Fantasy owners have the answer to who they should start out of the Jacksonville backfield moving forward.
Blake Bortles, QB10/19/2014 5:31:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles was 17-for-31 with 159 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions on Sunday against the Browns.
Insight: Bortles continues to struggle, but he led his team to its first victory of the season. He is still not worth more than a QB2 in deep leagues.
Toby Gerhart, RB10/19/2014 12:24:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart (foot) is officially inactive Sunday in Week 7
Insight: Storm Johnson and Denard Robinson are expected to share time and neither is a great fantasy option.
Storm Johnson, RB10/16/2014 4:06:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville rookie running back Storm Johnson has been spliting first string reps with Denard Robinson, according to Jaguars beat writer Mark Long.
Insight: Johnson rushed 10 times for 21 yards and a touchdown against the Titans and coach Gus Bradley said that was the plan ... to give him 10 carries. Sounds like a shared situation which won't make either fantasy owner happy.
Storm Johnson, RB10/14/2014 12:01:00 PM
Description: Fantasy owners thought Jaguars rookie running back Storm Johnson would get a full starter's workload, but apparently that wasn't the plan, according to a Florida Times-Union report.
Insight: Johnson rushed 10 times for 21 yards and a touchdown against the Titans and coach Gus Bradley said that was the plan ... to give him 10 carries. That's bad news for fantasy owners who claimed him off the waiver wire hoping he'd be a full-time starter.
Allen Robinson, WR10/13/2014 6:05:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie receiver Allen Robinson finished second on the team with nine targets in Week 6 against the Titans.
Insight: Robinson caught eight of those targets for 68 yards. The Jaguars were much more effective throwing than running on Sunday, so expect Robinson to continue to be a decent FLEX play in deep leagues.
Clay Harbor, TE10/13/2014 6:04:00 PM
Description: Jaguars tight end Clay Harbor was the team's big playmaker in Week 6 against the Titans.
Insight: Harbor caught a 59-yard pass and a 20-yard touchdown. He finished with three catches for 91 yards, which was second behind Shorts' 103 yards.
Storm Johnson, RB10/13/2014 6:01:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie running back Storm Johnson rushed 10 times for 21 yards against the Titans on Sunday.
Insight: Johnson had his opportunity with a friendly matchup and Toby Gerhart inactive. He was a huge dud. Quarterback Blake Bortles led the team in rushing.
Cecil Shorts III, WR10/12/2014 5:56:00 PM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts had a nice game in his return to action.
Insight: He has been in and out of the lineup with a hamstring injury, through the first five weeks. However, Shorts seemed to be healthy on Sunday, as he produced 10 catches for 103 yards, on 16 targets.
Blake Bortles, QB10/12/2014 5:54:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles had a solid afternoon against the Titans.
Insight: He had 336 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, but did take six sacks. Bortles is no more than a QB2.
Storm Johnson, RB10/12/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Jaguars rookie running back Storm Johnson will have a great opportunity against Tennessee.
Insight: He will start and should see the majority of the workload. However, owners beware of Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson stealing some carries on Sunday.
Toby Gerhart, RB10/12/2014 11:53:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart (foot) is officially inactive Sunday against the Titans.
Insight: Storm Johnson will be the lead back, with Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson being mixed in as well.
Toby Gerhart, RBCold10/9/2014 12:06:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart has been dealing with a foot issue, but it hasn't and isn't expected to keep him out of the game.
Insight: Herhart has been a huge disappointment this season and at this point the Jaguars seem to be looking at their other options, including Storm Johnson.
Marqise Lee, WR10/6/2014 3:12:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee (hamstring) is running and could return to practice this week.
Insight: Lee has been battling hamstring issues pretty much since training camp. The Jaguards receiving corps has a lot of bodies, but not many healthy and performing well.
Storm Johnson, RB10/6/2014 3:11:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie running back Storm Johnson got some praise from coach Gus Bradley and the Monday press conference.
Insight: Johnson only saw four carries, but totaled 27 yards and could be in for a heavier workload as the team is obviously not happy with Toby Gerhart's performance or lack there of.
Blake Bortles, QB10/5/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles went 22-for-36 with 191 yards and threw two interceptions against the Steelers on Sunday.
Insight: He looked effective in the short passing game, but once Bortles tried to go long, the Steelers effectively rushed him with blitzers and picked him off twice. Jacksonville will visit Tennessee, who blew a big lead against the Browns in Week 5.
Clay Harbor, TE10/5/2014 9:58:00 AM
Description: Jaguars tight end Clay Harbor played 61-of-66 offensive snaps against the Chargers in Week 4.
Insight: Harbor is the Jaguars starting tight end with Marcedes Lewis out indefinitely due to an ankle injury. Nic Jacobs joins Harbor on the field in double tight end sets. Harbor and quarterback Blake Bortles seem to have good chemistry so far as Bortles found his tight end eight times for 70 yards, which led the team in Week 4.
Ace Sanders, WR9/29/2014 11:18:00 AM
Description: Jaguars receiver Ace Sanders has served his four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse program and should be back on the field.
Insight: Sanders will complete with Allen Hurns, Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson and Cecil Shorts for playing time, though both Lee and Shorts are injured.
Cecil Shorts III, WRCold9/29/2014 11:15:00 AM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts (hamstring) produced disappointing numbers in Week 4 against the Chargers.
Insight: At least last weekend he was targeted 10 times and just didn't produce. Against San Diego he saw just four targets and caught two balls for 25 yards. Three receivers were targeted more. It the trend continues it makes Shorts a questionable value from here on out.
Clay Harbor, TEHot9/29/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Jaguars tight end Clay Harbor could see a lot action with rookie Blake Bortles under center and become a low-end fantasy value.
Insight: With starter Marcedes Lewis out for 6-8 weeks, Harbor started and saw a team-high eight targets Sunday against San Diego. He caught all eight for 69 yards.
Blake Bortles, QB9/29/2014 9:40:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville QB Blake Bortles started 15-of-17 for 149 yards and the Jaguars scored 14 early points, but that's all they could muster.
Insight: He finished 14-of-20 for 104 yards and two interceptions. Different quarterback - same results.
Toby Gerhart, RB9/29/2014 9:35:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart finally put the ball into the end zone, his first rushing touchdown in four games.
Insight: Actually, it was Jacksonvill'e first rushing touchdowns since Nov. 24, 2013 (217 rushing attempts). We expected a lot from Gerhart when he came over from Minnesota and we're still waiting. He's averaging just 28.5 ypg on the ground
Toby Gerhart, RBCold9/21/2014 6:16:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Toby Gerhart is not going to be much value if the Jaguars continue to get down by big numbers.
Insight: Gerhart rushed just nine times for 32 yards. The Jacksonville situation doesn't figure to get better with a rookie quarterback, but at this point Gerhart's trade value is minimal so keep him and hope Blake Bortles turns the team around.
Blake Bortles, QB9/21/2014 6:13:00 PM
Description: We saw the good and bad of playing a rookie quarterback Sunday.
Insight: Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles started the second half for Jacksonville in Game 3 of the season and threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, but also two interceptions. The game was already out of hand when he came into the game (30-0), so we should get a better read if he starts the next game.
Chad Henne, QBCold9/21/2014 2:46:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville starting QB Chad Henne, his team down 30-0 at half-time, was bwenched in favor of first round pick Blake Bortles.
Insight: Henne was 4-of-7 for 33 yards and was sacked three times. So ends the "Henne Era?"
Blake Bortles, QB9/21/2014 2:44:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles started the second half for Jacksonville in Game 3 of the season.
Insight: That's a bit earlier than the team had hoped, but down 30-0 to Indianapolis there was no reason not to see what they have.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/21/2014 12:02:00 PM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is active for Week 3.
Insight: Shorts and rookies Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson will do most of the heavy lifting at wideout with Marqise Lee and tight end Marcedes Lewis out. This will be Shorts first game of the season
Marqise Lee, WR9/19/2014 4:08:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee (hamstring) will not play in Sunday's game against the Colts.
Insight: Lee has been battling hamstring issues pretty much since training camp, and he tweaked it in the season opener against the Eagles. Lee will likely lose his starting job with the injury, and it is not worth keeping him in re-draft formats.
Toby Gerhart, RB9/18/2014 4:34:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart (ankle) returned to Thursday's practice.
Insight: Gerhart had Wednesday off and returned to practice in limited fashion on Thursday. Week 3 is a great matchup for Gerhart, playing the Colts' weak rush defense, but Gerhart has managed just 50 yards on his first 25 carries behind the poor Jaguars offensive line.
Marqise Lee, WR9/16/2014 2:42:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee was borderline invisible during Week 2 against Washington.
Insight: Lee was limited in practice all week, and really was a non-factor with two receptions for 11 yards. He is a WR5 moving forward.
Allen Robinson, WR9/16/2014 2:38:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie receiver Allen Robinson had a nice outing during Week 2.
Insight: He managed four receptions on six targets, and produced a solid 75 yards against the Redskins. Robinson will be no more than a WR5 with Jacksonville's questions at QB, combined with the fact he is competing for playing time with Marqise Lee, Allen Hurns, and Cecil Shorts once he returns from injury.
Toby Gerhart, RB9/16/2014 2:34:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart played through his ankle injury during Week 2's loss to Washington.
Insight: While Gerhart played, he was completely inneffective (7 carries for 8 yards and 2 catches for 9 yards). Jacksonville continues to be a rebuilding team, but if they want to compete in any games this year, they will need Gerhart to be their workhorse.
Clay Harbor, TE9/15/2014 2:33:00 PM
Description: Jaguars backup tight end Clay Harbor could see a lot of playing time over the next two months if he can get healthy.
Insight: With starter Marcedes Lewis out for 6-8 weeks, Harbor is probably the best receiving tight end remaining.
Allen Hurns, WR9/15/2014 2:30:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wideout Allen Hurns is doubtful for Sunday's game against Indianapolis due to an ankle injury.
Insight: Hurns had a huge season opener against Philadelphia (4-110-2), but long-term he'll have to battle Cecil Shorts, Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson for targets.
Chad Henne, QBCold9/15/2014 2:06:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville starting QB Chad Henne is already under seige with his Jaguars off to an 0-2 start.
Insight: Jacksonville wants to give Bortles the year to learn as a backup, but his team has been out-scored 75-27 over the first two weeks. My expectations were he would last until the bye week (Week 11), but he may not make it until then. Either quarterback will be handcuffed by a weak offensive line and multiple receiver injuries.
Marcedes Lewis, TE9/15/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis left the Week 2 contest with Washington due to an ankle injury and the results are he'll miss 6-8 weeks, according to Vito Stellino of jacksonville.com
Insight: The Jaguars were already having trouble keeping their wide receivers healthy and this won't help matters.
Marcedes Lewis, TE9/14/2014 3:26:00 PM
Description: Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis was in the middle of a big game, but has left the Week 2 contest with Washington due to an ankle injury.
Insight: Lewis caught a 63-yard touchdown pass near the end of the second quarter. His return is questionable.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/14/2014 11:36:00 AM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is active for Week 2.
Insight: Shorts and Marqise Lee are active which has to siphon targets from Week 1 sensation Allen Hurns.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/14/2014 11:36:00 AM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is inactive in Week 2. There was some confusion based on the nfl.com site having him active.
Insight: Marqise Lee is active along with Week 1 sensation Allen Hurns.
Blake Bortles, QB9/13/2014 7:29:00 PM
Description: Jaguars coach Gus Bradley told Florida Times Union he sees "positive signs" from rookie quarterback Blake Bortles in practice.
Insight: Bortles has impressed Bradley with his footwork and ability to make throws despite only practicing with the scout team. Jacksonville plans to keep Chad Henne the starter, but he really struggled in the second half against Philadelphia. Bortles is likely a few weeks away from taking over under center.
Marqise Lee, WR9/12/2014 8:40:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee (hamstring) is listed as probable for Week 2
Insight: Lee was limited in practice this week, but he is on track to play against the Redskins. He will start opposite Allen Hurns with Cecil Shorts (hamstring) listed as doubtful.
Marcedes Lewis, TE9/12/2014 8:29:00 PM
Description: Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis (hamstring) is probable for Week 2
Insight: Lewis is a low-end TE2 for Sunday's game against Washington. He had six catches for 35 yards on nine targets against Philadelphia in Week 1.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/12/2014 3:35:00 PM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts (hamstring) was on the sidelines, not practicing Friday, according to jaguars.com writer John Oehser.
Insight: It looks like the Jaguars could be without both Marqise Lee (hamstring) and Shorts. Allen Hurns just became a viable option for Week 2 off his surprise Week 1 performance (4-110-2)
Marqise Lee, WR9/11/2014 2:10:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee (hamstring) practiced on Thursday.
Insight: That is extremely promising for Lee's Week 2 status. He suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday's practice. With Cecil Shorts already battling a hamstring injury, Lee has tremendous upside against the Redskins this Sunday.
Toby Gerhart, RB9/11/2014 1:47:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart (ankle) confirmed he expects to play in Week 2 against the Redskins.
Insight: Gerhart's injury is not as severe as he originally thought. He should practice on Thursday and be ready to go on Sunday. The Redskins will be without starting nose tackle Barry Cofield.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/10/2014 4:12:00 PM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, according to Jaguars beat writer Mark Long.
Insight: Good news because it now appears that Marquise Lee is dealing with a hamstring issue. Shorts is a WR2 when healthy.
Marqise Lee, WR9/10/2014 4:09:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee could not finish Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury, according to Jaguars beat writer Mark Long.
Insight: Lee led the team in targets in Week 1 against the Eagles, though Allen Hurns had the big day, with 110 yards and a couple of touchdown receptions. If Lee can't go, Hurns could be a viable option.
Marcedes Lewis, TEHot9/8/2014 4:29:00 PM
Description: Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis has a "knee capsule injury" but is expected to play Week 2 against the Redskins according to the Florida Times Union.
Insight: Lewis caught 6-of-9 targets for 35 yards in Week 1 against the Eagles. We expect that number to drop in the coming weeks. He is only useful in very deep leagues.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/8/2014 2:24:00 PM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts will try to run on Tuesday according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.
Insight: With receivers Allen Hurns and Marquise Lee having decent days in Week 1, Shorts might be eased back into the starting lineup.
Toby Gerhart, RB9/8/2014 1:14:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart sprained his ankle on Sunday and will be limited in practice this week.
Insight: Gerhart owners received a scare when Eagles defender Fletcher Cox dragged Gerhart down from behind on a play. We will monitor his status all week but Gerhart should be fine to start against the Redskins in Week 2.
Allen Hurns, WRHot9/7/2014 6:55:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wideout Allen Hurns scored on his first two catches and totaled 110 yards against the Eagles defense Sunday.
Insight: It could be a mirage, so be careful. The Jaguars were without starter Cecil Shorts so went with rookies Hurns and Marqise Lee. When Shorts returns, Hurns figures to have to fight with Lee for targets.
Toby Gerhart, RB9/7/2014 2:14:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart left the game in the first quarter after being injured on a horsecollar tackle. Update: Gerhart has returned.
Insight: Gerhart has run seven times for 12 yards. He's expected to be a workhorse back this season, but he'll have to stay healthy. Jordan Todman is the backup option.
Toby Gerhart, RB9/7/2014 2:04:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart left the game in the first quarter after being injured on a horsecollar tackle. His return is questionable.
Insight: Gerhart has run seven times for 12 yards. He's expected to be a workhorse back this season, but he'll have to stay healthy. Jordan Todman is the backup option.
Marqise Lee, WRHot9/6/2014 2:49:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wide receiver Marqise Lee figures to be the No. 1 receiving option for Chad Henne in Week 1 versus Philadelphia.
Insight: Cecil Shorts didn't make the trip to Philadelphia. With Shorts gone, rookie receiver Allen Robinson missing almost all of the preseason with a hamstring injury of his own and Ace Sanders suspended, Lee should be a valuable fantasy asset ... at least for the first weekend.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/6/2014 2:47:00 PM
Description: Jaguars top receiver Cecil Shorts did not practice on Thursday or Friday due to tightness in his hamstring and has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 1 opener against the Eagles, according to beat writer Mark Long.
Insight: Shorts didn't make the trip to Philadelphia. With Shorts gone, rookie receiver Allen Robinson missing almost all of the preseason with a hamstring injury of his own and Ace Sanders suspended, rookie Marqise Lee could be a valuable fantasy asset.
Allen Robinson, WR9/5/2014 8:53:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie receiver Allen Robinson (hamstring) is limited as probable for Week 1.
Insight: With Cecil Shorts a game-time decision, Robinson could be the No. 3 receiver this week despite missing the entire preseason. Robinson is a potential red-zone target for Chad Henne.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/5/2014 12:03:00 PM
Description: Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts did not practice on Thursday or Friday due to tightness in his hamstring.
Insight: Shorts missed nearly half a month with a hamstring issue in training camp, so this should have all his fantasy owners worried. Chad Henne owners too. Shorts cannot be counted on Week 1.
Cecil Shorts III, WR9/4/2014 4:15:00 PM
Description: Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts did not practice on Thursday due to tightness in his hamstring according to John Oehser of jaguars.com.
Insight: Shorts missed nearly half a month with a hamstring issue in training camp, so even though head coach Gus Bradley claims the move to sit out Shorts in Thursday's practice was just precautionary, it has grabbed out attention. However, his previous hamstring injury was in his right leg. On Thursday, Shorts' left hamstring was the issue. Shorts cannot be counted on Week 1.
Allen Robinson, WR9/2/2014 11:12:00 AM
Description: Jaguars rookie receiver Allen Robinson (hamstring) was limited in Monday's practice, but says he'll be ready for Sunday against the Eagles, according to Jags beat writer Ryan O'Halloran.
Insight: Allen is behind fellow rookie Marqise Lee, Cecil Shorts and free agent Allen Hurns which means his fantasy value is minimal. He'll eventually jump past Hurns and grab the No. 3 receiver role.
Blake Bortles, QB8/28/2014 7:35:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles finished the preseason strong, completing 4-of-6 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown against the Falcons on Thursday.
Insight: Bortles threw a 57-yard bomb to fellow rookie Marqise Lee. The quarterback finished the preseason 32-of-51 for 521 yards, two touchdowns and no picks. It's looking more and more likely that Bortles will become the starting quarterback at some point this season. If you can be patient and sacrifice a spot on your bench for him, he could provide some late season value.
Ramses Barden, WR8/24/2014 3:18:00 PM
Description: Wideout Ramses Barden was released by Jacksonville.
Insight: At 6-foot-6, 224 lbs Barden was supposed to develop into a big-time threat, but lacked the speed to get away from NFL defenders. The Jags will go with their two rookie Marqise lee and Allen Robinson
Chad Henne, QB8/23/2014 11:48:00 AM
Description: The Jaguars have officially named Chad Henne their starting quarterback.
Insight: It was a foregone conclusion that Henne would start. The question is, how long will he hold off Blake Bortles? The team wants to give Bortles the year to learn as a backup, but he figures to start at some point. He's outplayed Henne this preseason.
Cecil Shorts III, WR8/18/2014 12:17:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts returned to practice Sunday after missing three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Insight: According to Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union, he used the word "rusty" four times in describing his play. He expects to be ready for Week 1 versus Philadelphia. Shorts (66 receptions for 777 yards and 3 TDs in 13 games last season) will be the Jaguars No. 1 receiver if he can stay healthy.
Blake Bortles, QB8/15/2014 2:34:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles, the No. 3 overall selection, had another solid outing against the Bears Thursday night, going 11-for-17 for 160 yards.
Insight: Bortles has been good enough that the team will give him one quarter with the starters next week, according to coach Gus Bradley. The rookie is locked into the backup role, at least at the start of the season. Check back after they start the season against Philadelphia, Washington, Indianapolis and San Diego. He's certain worth drafting in the late rounds.
Marqise Lee, WR8/14/2014 10:36:00 PM
Description: Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee looked much better this week than last when he was held without a catch.
Insight: Lee caught all four targets for 27 yards. He should start opposite Cecil Shorts and could be a nice late-round sleeper pick.
Toby Gerhart, RB8/14/2014 10:30:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart ran six times for 19 yards and caught one ball for eight yards in his first preseason work.
Insight: Gerhart is guaranteed to get roughly 300 touches if he stays healthy and his 231-pound frame gives him a good chance to hold up to the pounding. He'll be fine between the tackles, but we are concerned about trying him on the outside. That could be where he losses carries to Jordan Todman or Storm Johnson.
Toby Gerhart, RB8/12/2014 5:30:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart returned to practice Tuesday, according to Mark Long of the Associated Press.
Insight: Gerhart is guaranteed to get roughly 300 touches if he stays healthy and his 231-pound frame gives him a good chance to hold up to the pounding. He missed the first preseason game but is hoping to play in the second.
Blake Bortles, QB8/9/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Jaguars rookie quarterback Blake Bortles, the No. 3 overall selection, had a solid debut against Tampa Bay, completing 7-of-11 passes for 117 yards.
Insight: Bortles is locked into the backup role, at least at the start of the season. Check back after they start the season against Philadelphia, Washington, Indianapolis and San Diego. If they are 0-4 strategies could quickly change.
Blake Bortles, QB8/7/2014 2:02:00 PM
Description: Quarterback Blake Bortles, the No. 3 overall selection, has taken no snaps with the starters, according to beat writer Ryan O'Halloran.
Insight: Of the three first-round quarterback selections, he seems to be the least likely to win a starting job in 2014 as it appears the team is willing to let him watch and learn from the sidelines. Check back after they start the season against Philadelphia, Washington, Indianapolis and San Diego. If they are 0-4 strategies could quickly change.
Toby Gerhart, RB8/6/2014 3:20:00 PM
Description: According to jaguars.com, Running back Toby Gerhart will sit out the preseason opener with hip flexor tightness.
Insight: Gerhart is guaranteed to get roughly 300 touches if he stays healthy and his 231-pound frame gives him a good chance to hold up to the pounding. Holding him out of the first preseason game is likely a precautionary move.
Toby Gerhart, RB8/4/2014 7:34:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN.com, Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart is dealing with hip flexor tightness.
Insight: Gerhart sat out practice Friday, a scrimmage on Saturday and practice Monday. He says he plans to play in Friday's preseason opener. Gerhart is guaranteed to get roughly 300 touches if he stays healthy.
Jordan Todman, RB8/1/2014 10:54:00 AM
Description: Jaguars backup running back Jordan Todman is ahead of Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson for the handcuff role.
Insight: Barring injury to starter Toby Gerhart we don't see much fantasy value for Todman even with his kick return yardage added to the mix.
Allen Robinson, WR8/1/2014 10:48:00 AM
Description: Jaguars receiver Allen Robinson is going to miss a couple weeks due to a hamstring injury.
Insight: The two-week injury won't effect his regular season, but the missed time will likely leave him behind fellow rookie Marqise Lee.
Marqise Lee, WR7/30/2014 10:36:00 PM
Description: Jaguars OC Jedd Fisch has been finding ways to "feed" Marqise Lee, according to the Florida Times-Union.
Insight: Cecil Shorts' hamstring strain has given Lee and fellow rookie Allen Robinson a chance to get more work in practice. Lee has been lining up all over the field. "Marqise has that speed factor," coach Gus Bradley said. "He has a chance to break one and is extremely quick. He’s freakish in his skill set in some of the things he does." Shorts is injury-prone and if he goes down for an extended period of time during the season Lee will have a shot to see a ton of targets from Chad Henne.
Cecil Shorts III, WR7/27/2014 1:16:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts will miss several weeks with a strained hamstring, according to Michael DiRocco of ESPN.
Insight: Shorts has missed five games the past two seasons and played most of last year with a sports hernia that required surgery in the offseason. Still, with an ADP of 113.5 he's a good value pick because he should dominate targets for Jacksonville.
Justin Blackmon, WR7/24/2014 11:33:00 AM
Description: Russell Hulstine of Newson6.com is reporting that suspended Jaguars receiver Justin Blackmon was "arrested for the possession of marijuana following a traffic stop Wednesday night" in Edmond, Okla.
Insight: Blackmon was already on indefinite suspension and this won't help his chances of some day rerurning to the NFL.
Ace Sanders, WR7/22/2014 10:06:00 PM
Description: Jaguars receiver Ace Sanders faces a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse program. SOURCE: Ryan O'Halloran, Florida Times-Union
Insight: Sanders will leave the team indefinitely. "I've decided to go seek help, get (the) attention that I need -- hopefully somebody can help me out," Sanders said. "I should be OK; I just want to get better and come back and be ready to play. Sometimes life hits and it's hard." The 5-foot-7, 178-pound Sanders had 51 catches as a rookie, but produced just 484 yards and one touchdown. His spot on the roster was already tenuous after the Jags drafted Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson in the second round this year.
Jordan Todman, RB7/10/2014 10:49:00 AM
Description: Jaguars back running back Jordan Todman is expected to be the team's kick returner this season.
Insight: Barring injury to starter Toby Gerhart we don't see much fantasy value for Todman even with return yardage added to the mix.
Ace Sanders, WR6/8/2014 3:45:00 PM
Description: Now that second-round picks Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson are in the mix at wide receiver, Ace Sanders' roster spot with the Jaguars could be in jeopardy. SOURCE: Ryan O'Halloran, Florida Times Union
Insight: Sanders had a respectable rookie season (51 catches, 484 yards, one touchdown) but at 5-foot-7 and 178 pounds, he doesn't match up well against bigger defensive backs. Justin Blackmon's absence might ultimately be what allows Sanders to keep his job.
Blake Bortles, QB5/22/2014 11:50:00 AM
Description: Quarterback Blake Bortles, the No. 3 overall selection, could end up sitting for a majority or all of the upcoming season.
Insight: Adam Schefter is reporting that the Jaguars want Chad Henne to play all 16 games this season and have Bortles watch the action from the sidelines. The team may be afraid of repeating what happened with Blaine Gabbert in 2011, who started 14 games in his rookie season and never developed.
Chad Henne, QB5/22/2014 11:45:00 AM
Description: The Jaguars would like veteran QB Chad Henne to start all 16 games next season. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: The team may be afraid of repeating what happened with Blaine Gabbert in 2011, who started 14 games in his rookie season and never developed. Still, it's hard to believe the Jags would take Blake Bortles third overall and then sit him for his whole first season. We should gain more clarity on this subject when training camp opens in late July.
Justin Blackmon, WR5/10/2014 6:05:00 PM
Description: According to the Florida Times Union, Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell confirmed Friday that the team has "moved on" from receiver Justin Blackmon "for this year."
Insight: Jacksonville's actions on Friday -- selecting WRs Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson in the second round of the NFL Draft -- spoke loud and clear for Caldwell. Blackmon was suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season and again for the final eight for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. His second suspension is indefinite and his reinstatement isn't a given. In the four games he played, Blackmon had 415 receiving yards and a touchdown on 29 catches.
Allen Robinson, WR5/9/2014 9:16:00 PM
Description: Penn State receiver Allen Robinson is going to Jacksonville with the 61st-overall pick in the 2014 draft.
Insight: The Jaguars took USC WR Marqise Lee earlier in the second round after picking QB Blake Bortles third overall in the first round. The selection of two receivers in Round 2 should tell you all you need to know about Justin Blackmon's status with the team.
Marqise Lee, WR5/9/2014 7:53:00 PM
Description: The Jacksonville Jaguars grabbed former USC WR Marqise Lee with the 39th-overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Insight: ESPN's Britt McHenry reported Wednesday that the Jaguars are "not expecting Justin Blackmon at all for 2014" after Blackmon was suspended indefinitely last year for violating the substance-abuse policy a second time. With No. 3 overall pick QB Blake Bortles and Lee, Jacksonville's offense is set up for the future. However, Lee may not have that much fantasy value in 2014 even if Blackmon isn't reinstated, as Cecil Shorts is still in the fold.
Blake Bortles, QB5/9/2014 11:16:00 AM
Description: Despite picking Blake Bortles No. 3 overall at Thursday night's NFL Draft, the Jaguars are expected to start Chad Henne Week 1 against Philadelphia. SOURCE: Florida Times Union
Insight: Even if that happens, Henne will probably be on a short leash. Bortles, like most young quarterbacks, is a bit raw but that doesn't mean he won't be thrown into the fire early. Whether Bortles will be able to make meaningful fantasy contributions right away is a different story.
Blake Bortles, QB5/8/2014 8:41:00 PM
Description: The Jaguars got their man, but it wasn't Johnny Manziel. Instead, Jacksonville took Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles with the third pick in Thursday's NFL Draft.
Insight: Our own John McMullen had Bortles going seventh to Tampa Bay so it's a mild surprise he went this early. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder threw for 25 TD, 9 INT and 3,581 yards last year en route to UCF's first-ever BCS appearance.
Justin Blackmon, WR5/7/2014 12:54:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN's Britt McHenry, Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said the team is "not expecting Justin Blackmon at all for 2014."
Insight: Blackmon was suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season and again for the final eight for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. His second suspension is indefinite, though he's eligible to apply for reinstatement prior to the 2014 season. In the four games he played, Blackmon had 415 receiving yards and a touchdown on 29 catches.
Justin Blackmon, WR5/2/2014 4:44:00 PM
Description: The Jaguars would be surprised if wide receiver Justin Blackmon plays next season. SOURCE: Ryan O'Halloran, Florida Times-Union
Insight: Blackmon was suspended for the second half of last season after violating the league's substance abuse policy. Though talented, Blackmon isn't someone the Jaguars or fantasy owners can rely on.
Russell Allen, LB4/22/2014 6:44:00 PM
Description: A brain injury has forced former Jaguars linebacker Russell Allen to retire from pro football. SOURCE: Sports Illustrated
Insight: An on-field stroke against Buffalo in Week 15 left Allen with a dead spot on his brain. The injury was originally believed to be a concussion but was actually much more serious. Allen's best season came in 2012 when he recorded a career-high 131 tackles in 16 games for Jacksonville. The San Diego State alum turns 28 next month.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB3/24/2014 9:26:00 PM
Description: The Patriots are making a play for free agent running back Maurice Jones-Drew. SOURCE: Doug Kyed, NESN
Insight: The Steelers and Jets are also in the running for MJD. The eight-year veteran rushed for 803 yards and five touchdowns last season with Jacksonville. The Pats aren't expected to re-sign LeGarrette Blount so they do have an opening at halfback.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB3/19/2014 8:14:00 PM
Description: Free agent halfback Maurice Jones-Drew met with the Steelers on Wednesday. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Jones-Drew would be second-string behind starter Le'Veon Bell so it's not an ideal landing spot. At age 28 and with over 1,800 carries in his career, there's not a lot left in Jones-Drew's tank. Maybe a backup job is the best he can do at this point.
Tandon Doss, WR3/18/2014 11:35:00 AM
Description: Former Ravens wideout Tanden Doss has been signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Insight: Doss probably won't see many passes with Cecil Shorts, Justin Blackmon and Ace Sanders in front of him on the depth chart, so his fantasy value after this move.
Toby Gerhart, RB3/12/2014 5:41:00 PM
Description: According to the Florida Times Union, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley talked about Toby Gerhart as a back that could regularly see between 15-20 touches a game in 2014.
Insight: Jacksonville signed Gerhart to a three-year contract on Tuesday. Gerhart spent four seasons as Adrian Peterson's backup in Minnesota and rushed for 1,305 yards on 276 carries (4.7 ypc). He'll have RB2 value in 2014 due to his workload.
Toby Gerhart, RB3/11/2014 9:42:00 PM
Description: According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, running back Toby Gerhart has agreed to a three-year, $10.5 million contract with Jacksonville.
Insight: Four and a half million of that is guaranteed. We've always been curious what Gerhart could do with a full workload. After four years of backing up Adrian Peterson in Minnesota, we're finally ready to find out. Obviously, the Jaguars will not be re-signing Maurice Jones-Drew.
Jason Babin, DE3/10/2014 8:41:00 PM
Description: By voiding the final two years of his contract, defensive end Jason Babin has officially become a free agent. SOURCE: John Clayton, ESPN
Insight: Babin recorded 7.5 sacks with Jacksonville last season. He was one of the best pass rushers in the league while with Philadelphia, collecting a career-best 18 sacks during the 2011 campaign. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good.
Red Bryant, DE3/8/2014 3:38:00 PM
Description: Free agent DE Red Bryant has agreed to a four-year deal with Jacksonville, according to Adam Schefter.
Insight: Bryant, formerly with Seattle, will immediately upgrade the defense, but the Jaguars still need a lot more on that side of the ball before we will worry about their effect on opponents.
Chad Henne, QB3/7/2014 3:40:00 PM
Description: The Jaguars have re-signed QB Chad Henne for two years and $8 million. SOURCE: Alex Marvez, Fox Sports 1
Insight: That's good news for him, but we're not so sure about the Jaguars' offense. Henne started 13 games last season, throwing for just 3,241 yards and 13 touchdowns. This move is significant because it means Jacksonville probably won't be taking a quarterback with the No. 3 pick in May's draft.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/31/2013 5:35:00 PM
Description: According to Sports Illustrated, the Jaguars are unlikely to re-sign running back Maurice Jones-Drew this offseason.
Insight: At this stage in his career, Jones-Drew is probably more trouble than he's worth. The soon-to-be 29-year-old has averaged just 58 rushing yards per game since his high water mark 2011 season (league-leading 1,606 yards on 343 rushes). Fantasy owners would be wise to look elsewhere next season.
Chad Henne, QB12/29/2013 6:21:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville QB Chad Henne threw for a season-high 331 yards on Sunday.
Insight: That's the good news. The bad news is that Jacksonville came out on the losing end for the 12th time this season. Henne will be a free agent after this season, meaning that Sunday could have been his last game as a Jaguar.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/22/2013 12:06:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) is active and will play in Week 16 against Tennessee.
Insight: Jones-Drew averaged 12.7 fantasy points per game in his last six games before sitting out Week 15 with a hamstring injury. His absence allowed Jordan Todman to get 29 touches. It's possible that they will split time and we recommend staying away.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/22/2013 10:54:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 16 against Tennessee, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Insight: Jones-Drew averaged 12.7 fantasy points per game in his last six games before sitting out Week 15 with a hamstring injury. His absence allowed Jordan Todman to get 29 touches. If he plays Sunday, he has a favorable matchup and should be trusted as a low-end RB2
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/20/2013 6:05:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) practiced Friday on a limited basis, according to Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union.
Insight: Jones-Drew missed Sunday's game against the Bills, allowing Jordan Todman to get 29 touches. If MJD is out again in Week 16 against Tennessee, Todman will be worth using as a RB2. Jones-Drew would have RB2 value if he's active.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/19/2013 5:22:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) missed practice again on Thursday.
Insight: Jones-Drew missed Sunday's game against the Bills, allowing Jordan Todman to get 29 touches. If MJD is out again in Week 16 against Tennessee, Todman will be worth using as a RB2. Jones-Drew would have the same value if he's active.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/18/2013 5:04:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday and may not be out there until Friday, according to John Oehser of jaguars.com.
Insight: Jones-Drew missed Sunday's game against the Bills, allowing Jordan Todman to get 29 touches. If MJD is out again in Week 16 against Tennessee, Todman will be worth using as a RB2. Jones-Drew would have the same value if he's active.
Cecil Shorts III, WR12/17/2013 2:56:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) has been placed on injured reserve and will miss the final two games of the season.
Insight: Shorts is expected to undergo surgery during the offseason. He finished with 66 catches, 777 receiving yards and three scores this season. Ace Sanders, Mike Brown and Marcedes Lewis will be Chad Henne's top targets in Shorts' absence.
Marcedes Lewis, TEHot12/15/2013 6:28:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville tight end Marcedes Lewis snared a touchdown for the third straight game in Week 15 against Buffalo.
Insight: Lewis established season highs with seven targets, four catches and 54 yards in Week 15.
Jordan Todman, RB12/15/2013 6:23:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Jordan Todman compiled 153 yards (109 rushing) from scrimmage on 29 touches (25 carries) Sunday against the Bills.
Insight: With Maurice Jones-Drew out with a hamstring injury, Jacksonville had no choice but to feature Todman, who came in with 43 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns on the year.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/15/2013 11:53:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) missed practice this week so it shouldn't be a surprise that he's inactive for Week 15 against Buffalo.
Insight: Jones-Drew had hoped to play Sunday, but his actions, or inactions, told fantasy owners he was a long shot. Former UConn standout Jordan Todman should get the start.
Cecil Shorts III, WR12/15/2013 10:58:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) will miss Sunday's game, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: Shorts is expected to undergo surgery during the offseason. He has 66 catches, 777 receiving yards and three scores this season. Ace Sanders, Mike Brown and Marcedes Lewis will be Chad Henne's top targets Sunday against the Bills, but none is worth starting.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/13/2013 12:35:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) missed another practice Friday.
Insight: Jones-Drew says he hopes to play Sunday, but his actions, or inactions, are making it tough for fantasy owners to believe him. Former UConn standout Jordan Todman would get the start in the likely event of Jones-Drew sitting out.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/12/2013 2:18:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) missed another practice Thursday.
Insight: Jones-Drew has stated he wants to play Sunday, but his actions, or inactions, are making it tough on fantasy owners. He'll likely be a game-time decision.
Cecil Shorts III, WR12/12/2013 2:02:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts will be a game-time decision says coach Gus Bradley.
Insight: Shorts has been battling a groin injury and sat out the last two practices. He's only scored three times this season after seven touchdowns in 2012, but he has reached the end zone the past two weeks.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/11/2013 2:11:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) reiterated Wednesday that his goal is to play Sunday against the Bills, but he didn't sound overly confident, according to Hays Carlyon of the Florida Times-Union.
Insight: Jones-Drew has turned around his sesaon with six straight games of at least nine fantasy points and an average of 12.7 fppg during that stretch, but he suffered a hamstring pull last Thursday against Houston. Jordan Todman would step in as the primary ballcarrier for the Jags in Week 15 if MJD cannot play.
Stephen Burton, WR12/9/2013 1:05:00 PM
Description: Jaguars wideout Stephen Burton (concussion) was placed on injured reserve.
Insight: Burton is in his third season with his second team, but has yet to prove he's a useful receiver or of interest to fantasy owners. He'll finish the season with eight receptions for 76 yards.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/7/2013 9:46:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville halfback Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) says he'll be ready for next week's game against Buffalo. SOURCE: NBC's Pro Football Talk
Insight: Jones-Drew's MRI results came back clean. He seems to be finding his groove late in the season with 457 yards (328 rushing, 129 receiving) and three touchdowns over his last five games. He'll be a solid flex/RB2 option for Week 15.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/6/2013 1:42:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew will have an MRI on his right hamstring on Friday.
Insight: MJD was having a good night before getting injured in the fourth quarter. His 103 yards on 14 carries was a season high.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB12/1/2013 5:07:00 PM
Description: Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew plodded his way for 77 rushing yards on 23 carries Sunday at Cleveland, but he also threw an eight-yard touchdown to Marcedes Lewis.
Insight: MJD's 3.3 ypc average was right in line with his season average. He's a touchdown-dependent flex option, though he has scored at least nine fantasy points in each of the last five games.
Cecil Shorts III, WR12/1/2013 5:03:00 PM
Description: Browns CB Joe Haden shut down Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts for most of the day in Week 13, but Shorts beat him with a double move for a 20-yard game-winning TD with 40 seconds left in the game.
Insight: For some reason, Haden bit on the first move even though a short catch would have been beneficial to Cleveland at that point. Shorts saw 11 targets and caught six for 64 yards and the touchdown. It was his first score since Oct. 6.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB11/28/2013 2:20:00 PM
Description: Jaguars OC Jedd Fisch said the team will continue to use a timeshare at running back between Maurice Jones-Drew and Jordan Todman. SOURCE: jacksonville.com
Insight: MJD had his best game of the season Sunday at Houston, taking 14 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown and six receptions for 60 yards while Todman had 11 carries for 31 yards. Jones-Drew has produced at least nine fantasy points in four straight games and a touchdown in three straight.
Cecil Shorts III, WR11/24/2013 12:02:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) is active for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Insight: Shorts was heavily targeted over the first eight games but he has received just nine targets in the last two weeks. He complained about his role after last week's game so he should see plenty of looks this week and should put up high-end WR3 numbers. plus the Jaguars will be without Mike Brown, Stephen Burton and Justin Blackmon.
Ace Sanders, WR11/24/2013 11:40:00 AM
Description: Jaguars rookie wideout Ace Sanders could see significant targets with Jacksonville short-handed at the receiving spot.
Insight: Receivers Justin Blackmon, Stephen Burton and Mike Brown will all miss the game, leaving Cecil Shorts, and Sanders to do the heavy lifting.
Cecil Shorts III, WR11/22/2013 4:58:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) is probable for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Insight: Shorts was heavily targeted over the first eight games but he has received just nine targets in the last two weeks. He complained about his role after last week's game so he should see plenty of looks this week and should put up high-end WR3 numbers.
Cecil Shorts III, WR11/21/2013 8:31:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) was limited again in Thursday's practice but he should play in Week 12.
Insight: Shorts was heavily targeted over the first eight games but he has received just nine targets in the last two weeks. He complained about his role after last week's game so he should see plenty of looks this week and should put up high-end WR3 numbers.
Cecil Shorts III, WR11/17/2013 5:47:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts was not pleased with his role in Sunday's game against Arizona, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. Shorts had just two catches on five targets for 22 yards one week after catching two balls on four targets for 42 yards at Tennessee.
Insight: "I'm not holding my tongue anymore," Shorts said. "To have one target until seven minutes left in the game, that's (expletive) dumb. That's dumb, period. I have to say something and sit down with (the coaching staff) because it's getting ridiculous in my opinion." Look for Shorts to be back in 10-target territory next week because as we've learned, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Chad Henne, QB11/11/2013 4:57:00 PM
Description: Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Monday that Chad Henne will start in Week 11 even after throwing for 180 yards and two picks Sunday.
Insight: Henne is only keeping the job because the other option is Blaine Gabbert. Jacksonville won its first game of the season Sunday against Tennessee, but it had little to do with the offense. The Jaguars defense forced five fumbles, recovering three and returning one for a touchdown, and caused a penalty in the end zone for a safety.
Paul Posluszny, LB11/11/2013 3:24:00 PM
Description: Jaguars linebacker Paul Posluszny suffered a concussion and is questionable for next week against Arizona.
Insight: He's accumulated 88 tackles with two INTs and a fumble recovery. As the Jaguars are dead last in points allowed (32.3 ppg) this won't help the situation. Always start your guys against the Jacksonville defense.
Cecil Shorts III, WR11/10/2013 11:56:00 AM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) is active for Week 10 against the Titans.
Insight: Shorts was listed as limited with a groin injury Wednesday and then received Thursday off. He makes for a strong WR2 with Justin Blackmon suspended for the rest of the season. Shorts has seen at least 10 targets in all seven of his healthy games, with only Week 6, when he left with a shoulder sprain, as the exception.
Cecil Shorts III, WR11/8/2013 4:45:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts (groin) is probable for Week 10 against the Titans.
Denard Robinson, WR11/8/2013 12:45:00 PM
Description: The Jaguars Denard Robinson has been named as the No. 2 running back behind Maurice Jones-Drew.
Insight: It remains to be seen if this will help Robinson's fantasy value as the Jaguars are usually behind on the scoreboard and passing more than running the ball.
Cecil Shorts III, WR11/7/2013 4:41:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Cecil Shorts received a day off from practice Thursday after putting in a limited session Wednesday, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.
Insight: Shorts was listed as limited with a groin injury Wednesday. He should be fine to play Sunday against the Titans and makes for a strong WR2 with Justin Blackmon suspended for the rest of the season. Shorts has seen at least 10 targets in all seven of his healthy games, with only Week 6, when he left with a shoulder sprain, as the exception.
Mike Brown, WRHot11/5/2013 11:59:00 AM
Description: The suspension of Jaguars wideout Justin Blackmon is expected to elevate Mike Brown's fantasy value.
Insight: Brown has produced two consecutive double-digit games and should be on the field for most of the snaps as we head down the stretch.
Justin Blackmon, WR11/4/2013 7:06:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville receiver Justin Blackmon is expected to enter rehab after once again violating the league's substance abuse policy. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: He's been suspended through the rest of the 2013 season. It's possible that Blackmon has played his final game as a Jacksonville Jaguar.
Justin Blackmon, WR11/1/2013 4:13:00 PM
Description: Jaguars receiver Justin Blackmon has been suspended indefinitely for another violation of the league's substance abuse policy.
Insight: Blackmon was the best offensive weapon the Jaguars had with 415 yards receiving in four games since his return from a four-game suspension. He won't be eligible to play again until 2014.
Chad Henne, QB10/29/2013 1:59:00 PM
Description: Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne will keep the starting job in Week 9 even though Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) is healthy, according to Jaguard beat writer John Oehser.
Insight: Henne has thrown for 849 yards over the past three games, something Gabbert can only dream about.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB10/27/2013 2:03:00 PM
Description: Jacksonville is reportedly very receptive to the idea of trading running back Maurice Jones-Drew. SOURCE: Jason La Canfora, CBS Sports
Insight: The Jags probably won't be able to retain Jones-Drew in free agency and even if they were willing to spend what it takes to keep him, it doesn't make much sense to build a team around a running back in his late 20s. With that said, a change of scenery could do wonders for MJD's fantasy value. The trade deadline is this Tuesday.
Ace Sanders, WR10/25/2013 8:42:00 PM
Description: Jaguars rookie wideout Ace Sanders (concussion) has been cleared to play in Week 8 against the 49ers.
Insight: Sanders has 15 catches for 171 yards over six games this season. He's not on the fantasy radar.
