Description: Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne underwent hip surgery recently and will need four months to recover. SOURCE: The Tennessean
Insight: He's expected to be 100 percent for training camp, however. Rinne, one of the NHL's top workhorses, had an inconsistent season in which he went 15-16-8 with a 2.43 GAA and a .910 SV%. He tied for the NHL lead with five shutouts.

Description: Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne took his fifth overtime loss of the season Saturday night against Minnesota. All five have come in the shootout.
Insight: Rinne (9-8-5, 2.09 GAA, .920 SV%, 4 SO) is tied with Ilya Bryzgalov for the most minutes in the NHL but he has made two fewer starts than Philadelphia's netminder. Nashville has been to overtime in eight of Rinne's 22 starts and seven of them went to a shootout.

Cold2/28/2013 11:57:00 AM
Description: Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne was smoked by Anaheim Wednesday night for five goals on 21 shots in the first two periods. He watched the last period from the bench.
Insight: Rinne has hit a rough patch after dominating earlier this month. He has allowed 13 goals over his last three starts after giving up just 12 in 10 starts from Jan. 31 to Feb. 22. We have no doubt he will turn it around.

2/22/2013 10:36:00 AM
Description: Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne is probable for Friday's game against Vancouver. he did not practice Wednesday, but a report in the Nashville Tennessean says he should play Friday.
Insight: Rinne has played very well this season going 7-3-4 with a stellar 1.67 GAA and a .935 save percentage. If he's back on the ice he should be back in your lineup.

Hot2/14/2013 10:42:00 PM
Description: Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne recorded his second straight shutout Thursday in a win against the Sharks.
Insight: Rinne has turned away 44 shots in his last two games. His 1.61 GAA and .938 save percentage this season are both career-highs.

Hot2/12/2013 10:51:00 PM
Description: Predators netminder Pekka Rinne picked up his second shutout in three games with 25 saves Tuesday against the Sharks.
Insight: Rinne had a four-game winning streak snapped by Chicago on Sunday but he started a new one Tuesday. Nashville went to overtime for the sixth time in Rinne's 11 starts but didn't let it end in a shootout for the first time.

Hot2/10/2013 5:25:00 PM
Description: Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne will have his hands full Sunday against the Blackhawks. Chicago has scored 38 goals this season, third in the NHL.
Insight: Rinne has been unbeatable recently. He's 4-0 with a 0.72 GAA, .974 SV% and one shutout over his last four starts, and should be active in all fantasy lineups even with an unfavorable matchup Sunday.

Hot2/7/2013 11:06:00 PM
Description: Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne had his first shootout of the season Thursday, a 32-save effort against the Los Angeles Kings.
Insight: Rinne has been on fire, winning four straight starts (two in shootouts) and allowing just three goals on 115 shots in that time.

Hot2/5/2013 5:52:00 PM
Description: Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne has given up just two goals in 130 minutes over his last two games, both shootout wins.
Insight: The Predators have already been to a shootout five times in Rinne's seven starts. He'll try to pick up his third straight win Tuesday on the road against the Blues.

1/27/2013 11:33:00 AM
Description: Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne has already lost three shootouts in four starts.
Insight: Rinne is 0-1-3 and has racked up 254 minutes in the crease in four games while saving 103 of 113 shots (.912). His numbers might suffer a bit with defenseman Ryan Suter gone via free agency and he certainly won't win 59 percent of his games again like he did last season.

1/24/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne dropped to 0-1-2 after allowing three goals on 24 shots in a loss to St. Louis on Thursday.
Insight: It has been a frustrating start to the season for Rinne owners. He will likely have a difficult time matching his production from last season after the team lost defenseman Ryan Suter in free agency.

1/24/2013 3:45:00 PM
Description: Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne will face the Blues and Jaroslav Halak Thursday in what could be a low-scoring affair.
Insight: It has been a frustrating start to the season for Rinne owners. He lost his first two starts in shootouts and was on the bench Tuesday when backup Chris Mason shut down Minnesota.

1/22/2013 4:05:00 PM

12/2/2011 1:37:00 AM
Description: Pekka Rinne was pulled after allowing five goals on 18 shots in the Predators' come-from-behind 6-5 win over Vancouver on Thursday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Anders Lindback took over in goal for the Preds and did not allow a goal on 19 shots, allowing the Preds to dig themselves out of a 5-3 deficit to win 6-5. Rinne was pulled in his last start in Vancouver, although he was extremely effective against the Canucks last season and in the playoffs.

11/3/2011 12:48:00 PM
Description: The Nashville Predators have signed Pekka Rinne to a seven-year contract extension worth $49 million. TSN
Insight: Rinne's new contract is easily the largest in Predators history. The Predators have established that they will move forward with Rinne, so this begs the question as to whether the Preds will be able to lock up Shea Weber and Ryan Suter long term.

10/20/2011 11:29:00 PM
Description: Pekka Rinne was pulled following the first period after allowing four goals on 16 shots against Vancouver on Thursday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Although the Predators lost to the Canucks during last season's playoffs, Rinne had been effective against the Canucks during the series. Until Thursday, Rinne had been decent this season, even though the Predators have started somewhat slowly.

5/1/2011 1:09:00 AM
Description: Pekka Rinne made 32 saves in the Predators' 2-1 overtime win over Vancouver in Game 2 on Saturday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Rinne did everything for the Preds in overtime except score the game-winning goal, as he made several brilliant saves to rob the Canucks of a 2-0 series lead. He faced only 15 shots in regulation, but Nashville's lack of offense meant that they could not manage a goal until just over a minute to play in regulation. If the Predators manage to knock off Vancouver, it will be because Rinne stole the series.

4/29/2011 12:02:00 AM
Description: Pekka Rinne made 29 saves in the Predators' 1-0 loss to Vancouver in Game 1 on Thursday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Rinne faced 16 shots in the first period, a period in which he did not allow a single goal. He was entirely responsible for keeping the Preds in this game, as they only seemed to play an intense game in the third period. Expect this to be a low-scoring series, as Rinne has demonstrated the ability to at least keep his team in the game.

4/21/2011 12:22:00 AM
Description: Pekka Rinne allowed six goals on 29 shots before being pulled in the third period of the Predators 6-3 loss to Anaheim in Game 4 on Wednesday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: The Predators did not play well at all in front of Rinne, taking only 22 shots on Ray Emery. But this kind of statline proves that the Preds will not go anywhere unless their goalie is at the top of his game. Expect him to bounce back with a better outing in Game 5.

3/30/2011 11:03:00 AM
Description: Rinne's 29 saves Tuesday night were enough to earn him second-star status but not enough to beat Vancouver.
Insight: The Canucks' 3-1 victory included an empty-netter at the end. Rinne, meanwhile, has held four of the past five opponents under three goals. Tuesday's loss snapped a five-game winning streak. (RapidDraft.com)
