Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Mavericks point guard Gal Mekel underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee on Friday.
Mekel, who signed with Dallas this offseason after leading Maccabi Haifa to the Israeli League championship last season, became the second Israeli-born NBA player when he inked a deal with the Mavs last July. He is a two-time MVP of the Israeli League.
Mekel has appeared in 30 games in his rookie season, averaging 2.4 points and 2.1 assists per contest.
There is no timetable for his return.
