Description: Angels third baseman Alberto Callaspo went 2-for-3 with a homer and five RBI Saturday in a high-scoring game against the White Sox.
Insight: The teams scored a combined 21 runs and had 29 hits. With little power, little speed and a mediocre batting average, Callaspo once again has been a bad fantasy option, even for AL-only owners.

5/3/2013 7:48:00 PM
Description: Alberto Callaspo has recovered from his calf injury and will start at third base Friday against the Orioles.
Insight: He'll hit seventh for the struggling Angels. Callaspo has never gotten a hit against Baltimore righthander Miguel Gonzalez (0-for-3).

4/19/2013 7:11:00 PM
Description: The Angels have finally gone ahead and placed third baseman Alberto Callaspo on the DL.
Insight: Callaspo has been battling calf tightness for over a week so the move will be retroactive to April 11th. He'll be eligible to return on the 26th, though it's unclear if that's a realistic timetable.

Description: Third baseman Alberto Callaspo won't appear in the Angels' series against the Twins. He's still feeling tightness in his right calf. SOURCE: Alden Gonzalez, MLB.com
Insight: It's likely that Callaspo will be re-evaluated later in the week. At that point, the team will decide whether or not a DL stint is necessary. He's hitting .273 with one homer and three RBI in nine games this season.

Description: Angels third baseman Alberto Callaspo (calf) is not in Friday's lineup, according to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com. He's dealing with tightness in his right calf.
Insight: Callaspo is hitting .273 with one home run and three runs in 33 at-bats this season. He has little power, little speed and little fantasy value.

9/30/2012 10:29:00 AM
Description: Sunday would be a good day to start Los Angeles third baseman Alberto Callaspo in fantasy. He's hitting a tremendous .455 for his career against Texas righthander Yu Darvish.
Insight: Of course, that's only in 11 at bats, but that's still a pretty high success rate. It's also worth noting that Callaspo has now recorded at least one hit in 10 out of his last 11 games for the Angels.

8/26/2012 10:49:00 AM
Description: Angels third baseman Alberto Callaspo won't be of much use to fantasy owners Sunday against the Tigers. He's hitting only .167 for his career against righthander Max Scherzer.
Insight: Callaspo has done a little better in August (.265) after a tough July (.198) but he's still not a particularly strong fantasy option at third base.

8/24/2012 6:34:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles third baseman Alberto Callaspo is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers.
Insight: Maicer Izturis (.255, 2 HR, 18 RBI) will start at third for the Angels.

Cold8/12/2012 2:43:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles third baseman Alberto Callaspo will be on the sidelines Sunday afternoon against the Mariners.
Insight: He's hitless in his last 12 at bats and is just a .188 career hitter against Seattle's Jason Vargas, so you probably wouldn't have been able to get much production out of Callaspo (.240, 8 HR, 35 RBI) on Sunday anyway.

7/22/2012 11:16:00 AM
Description: Angels third baseman Alberto Callaspo is only 4-for-23 (.174) with no homers or RBIs in his career against Rangers lefty Matt Harrison.
Insight: Callaspo (.252, 7 HRs, 31 RBIs) enters Sunday's game on a five-game hitting streak but it wouldn't shock us if that ended tonight against Harrison.

4/9/2012 4:32:00 PM
Description: Alberto Callaspo is getting his second start of the season at third base Monday in Minnesota.
Insight: Mark Trumbo is clearly the better hitter (29 HRs, 87 RBIs in his rookie season last year) but his shaky play at third base is preventing him from seeing the field more often. Until Trumbo can improve his defense, expect Callaspo (.288, 6 HRs, 46 RBIs in 2011) to get half of the starts at third base for the Angels.

Description: The Los Angeles Angels announced Tuesday they have agreed to terms with infielder Alberto Callaspo on a $2 million, one-year contract. SOURCE: ESPN.com
Insight: Callaspo is in a competition for the 3B job with the Angels; avoid drafting him unless it is announced he will get the bulk of the playing time at 3B. Even then, his value is limited to AL-only leagues.

8/19/2010 8:29:00 AM
Description: Callaspo went 1-for-3 with a three run home run, walk and a steal on Wednesday against Boston.

7/28/2010 8:45:00 AM
Description: Callaspo went 2-for-4 on Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Description: Alberto Callaspo has been traded to the Angels for Sean O'Sullivan and Will Smith. SOURCE: BOB DUTTON ON TWITTER
Insight: Callaspo should play 3B more than half the games for the Angels but not as much as a regular starter. His mixed league value is going to be restricted to deeper leagues. This trade hurts Maicer Izturis and Brandon Wood. Wood likely won't help in any format anymore. The return isn't great for the Royals - we don't think much of O'Sullivan's upside.

7/20/2010 11:57:00 PM
Description: ESPN Los Angeles.com reports the Angels are interested in Callaspo.
Insight: Callaspo would be an upgrade for the Angels at third base if the two sides can get a deal done. (SportsBuff.com)

7/8/2010 9:39:00 AM
Description: Callaspo went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI against Seattle on Wednesday night.
Insight: Callaspo has been dealing with left wrist soreness, but that did not appear to affect him on Wednesday night. He is hitting .279 with eight home runs and 41 RBI this season. (SportsBuff.com)

7/6/2010 11:44:00 PM
Description: Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star reports, via Twitter, that Callaspo (left wrist) was not in the starting lineup on Tuesday night against Seattle.
Insight: Callaspo was able to play on Monday night after missing consecutive games, but it appears his left wrist is still an issue. (SportsBuff.com)

7/5/2010 3:20:00 AM
Description: MLB.com reports Callaspo (hand) sat out a second straight game on Sunday night with a sore left hand.
Insight: It was originally thought Callaspo had a wrist issue, but now it's thought to be a bruised hand. Royals' manager Ned Yost reportedly said the team would see how he felt on Monday and go from there. (SportsBuff.com)
