Description: Baltimore righthander Freddy Garcia hurled eight scoreless innings Thursday in a win over Washington.
Insight: By doing so, Garcia evened his record to 2-2. He's pitched much better lately, recording a miniscule 1.89 ERA over his last three starts. Garcia's next start is scheduled for Wednesday against Houston.

5/4/2013 9:44:00 PM
Description: Orioles right-hander Freddy Garcia took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his first start of the season and finished with 6 2/3 innings and two earned runs on three hits.
Insight: Garcia served up a two-run homer to Mark Trumbo and Darren O'Day allowed the Angels to tie the game in the eighth, so Garcia took a no decision. Garcia went 12-8 with a 3.62 ERA in 2011, but put up a 5.20 ERA in 107 2/3 innings last season and is unlikely to have much fantasy value at this point in his career.

3/30/2013 8:56:00 PM
Description: The Orioles have agreed to a contract with righthander Freddy Garcia.
Insight: Garcia was cut by the Padres just a few days earlier. Baltimore's rotation already has plenty of depth so they won't need Garcia in the big leagues right away. Expect the veteran to report to Triple-A Norfolk for the time being.

3/24/2013 7:08:00 PM
Description: San Diego has released righthander Freddy Garcia.
Insight: Garcia could have won himself a spot in the starting rotation but instead he imploded this spring, compiling an 8.71 ERA in six appearances. Garcia is well past his prime and at this point there's no reason for fantasy owners to continue keeping tabs on him.

1/28/2013 9:29:00 PM
Description: Freddy Garcia has inked a minor league deal with San Diego.
Insight: Petco Park is probably the most pitcher-friendly stadium in the majors so if Garcia wanted to resurrect his career, this is probably the best place to do it. Garcia struggled to a 7-6 record and a 5.20 ERA in 30 appearances last season but keep in mind that he was pitching in the AL East, one of the most competitive divisions in MLB.

7/7/2012 5:20:00 PM
Description: Yankees starter Freddy Garcia shut down Boston over 6 2/3 innings Saturday to pick up his first win as a starting pitcher this season.
Insight: Garcia (3-2, 5.23) allowed one run on six hits and two walks against a Red Sox lineup without Dustin Pedroia, Will Middlebrooks and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The right-hander has put together two solid starts since he returned to the rotation and he will likely keep his spot with Andy Pettitte on the disabled list.

6/27/2012 5:00:00 PM
Description: Yankees pitcher Freddy Garcia will return to the Yankees rotation Monday against the Rays after New York lost CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte to injury Wednesday.
Insight: Garcia likely won't have much fantasy value outside of AL-only leagues, but he's shown before that he has nine lives so he may surprise us.

6/10/2012 3:30:00 PM
Description: Freddy Garcia has been activated from the bereavement list.
Insight: Garcia (0-2, 7.66 ERA) hasn't given his fantasy owners much to smile about in 2012 and now that he's been removed from the starting rotation, he carries almost no fantasy value at alll.

4/29/2012 6:51:00 PM
Description: Yankees manager Joe Girardi has demoted Freddy Garcia to the bullpen.
Insight: David Phelps (3.57 ERA working out of the bullpen this year) will make his first major league start Thursday against the Royals.

4/28/2012 9:47:00 PM
Description: Freddy Garcia was horrendous Saturday against Detroit. The 35-year-old gave up five hits and six runs in just 1 2/3 innings.
Insight: For the second outing in a row, Garcia (0-2, 12.51 ERA) failed to make it out of the second inning. It's very likely that Andy Pettitte will take Garcia's slot in the starting rotation as soon as he becomes major league ready.

4/23/2012 5:38:00 PM
Description: Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Freddy Garcia is "absolutely" staying in the Yankees rotation, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
Insight: We'll see about that. With Andy Pettitte working his way back to full strength in the minors, Garcia's time is limited in the Yankees rotation, regardless of what Girardi says now. Garcia really shouldn't be owned unless the league is Grand Canyon deep.

3/16/2012 1:19:00 PM
Description: X-rays on Freddy Garcia's injured hand came back negative. Garcia was hit in the hand by a line drive Wednesday in his start versus the Blue Jays.
Insight: This is good news for the Yankees, who were fearing that Garcia might have a fracture. Garcia's status for his next spring start is unknown. Andy Pettitte's announcement that he is coming out of retirement complicates Garcia's role with the Yankees. Now Pettitte, Garcia and Phil Hughes will all be vying for the final spot in New York's rotation.

9/29/2011 10:43:00 AM
Description: The Yankees have announced they will start CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova and Freddy Garcia in the first three games of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers. If there is a Game 4, Sabathia will pitch on short rest. SOURCE: SPORTING NEWS
Insight: If there is a Game 4, Sabathia will pitch on short rest. This means AJ Burnett, Bartolo Colon and Phil Hughes will all work from the bullpen.

6/8/2011 9:22:00 AM
Description: Freddy Garcia was not sharp on Tuesday night going 1 2/3 and giving up four ER on four hits and three walks in the Yankees 6-4 loss to rival Boston.
Insight: Garcia still sports an ERA under 4.00 and pitches for the Yankees so he is probably worth holding onto but given his age you should be quick to spot a downward trend.

4/16/2011 8:49:00 PM
Description: Yankees SP Freddy Garcia pitched 6 shutout innings to pick up the win against Texas. Garcia gave up just 2 hits and walked 1; he struck out 1.
Insight: Despite this outing Garcia is really best suited as a spot-starter in AL-only leagues. He should get plenty of run support but does not miss a lot of bats at this stage of his career.

3/29/2011 4:53:00 PM
Description: Freddy Garcia looked solid on Tuesday as he went 4 2/3 innings and only one earned run on four hits while striking out three.
Insight: Garcia's spring ERA finishes up at 4.91 and the Yankees will probably be elated with a sub 5.00 ERA out of this 5th spot in the rotation this season.

3/24/2011 5:13:00 AM
Description: Despite being out-pitched by Bartolo Colon this month, Freddy Garcia might be the favorite for the 5th starter job simply because he pitched in the majors in 2010. SOURCE: NY POST
Insight: If Garcia wins the job he shouldn't be added in mixed leagues. AL-Only owners can commit a bench spot to him and see how he handles the start of the season.

3/20/2011 10:00:00 AM
Description: Freddy Garcia, who is falling out of the mix for a rotation spot with the Yankees, has said that he won't accept a minor league assignment. SOURCE: NEW YORK POST
Insight: He will either end up in New York's bullpen or on the waiver wire. In fantasy leagues he should be on all waiver wires.

3/8/2011 4:56:00 PM
Description: The Yankees came in to spring training with question marks at the #4 and #5 spots in their rotation and everyone involved in the competition has looked great so far. The # 5 spot is currently being won by right handed veteran Freddy Garcia. Today Garcia threw 3 perfect innings of baseball.
Insight: Garcia may not be a great fantasy option with how deep starting pitching is this year but the Yankees have to be thrilled with how he has pitched this spring.

1/31/2011 9:41:00 PM
Description: Freddy Garcia has signed a minor league deal with the Yankees. SOURCE: JERRY CRASNICK
Insight: He will compete for the team's fifth starter spot and will have a better chance of getting it if Andy Pettitte stays retired. If he can win the job he can be relevant in AL-Only leagues.
