Description: Detroit tight end Brandon Pettigrew, who was on crutches earlier in the week, couldn't make it back in time and has been ruled out for Week 16.
Insight: Joseph Fauria, who has been a touchdown machine in his rookie season (seven of his 12 receptions have gone for touchdowns), will get the start but he'll let you down if he doesn't catch a touchdown.
Description: The Redskins placed tight end Jordan Reed (concussion) on injured reserve Thursday.
Insight: FOX Sports reported last week that Reed was done for the year, but Washington did not make a move until Thursday. The rookie emerged as one of Robert Griffin III's top targets in the middle of the season, catching 27 balls for 323 yards and two touchdowns from Weeks 7-10 before going down in Week 11.
Description: Texans TE Garrett Graham (hamstring) still has not returned to practice and interim coach Wade Phillips said the tight end is "about the same as last week." SOURCE: csnhouston.com
Insight: According to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Phillips said that "it's not looking good" for Graham's chances of playing in Week 16. Ryan Griffin will fill in again and can probably get you the same production as Graham with Matt Schaub returning to quarterback.
Description: Browns tight end Jordan Cameron missed another practice Thursday due to a concussion.
Insight: Cameron is currently going through the league's concussion protocol and will need to gain clearance to play Sunday against the Jets. He missed the last two games last season due to a concussion.
Description: Vikings TE John Carlson (concussion) experienced post-concussion symptoms after Wednesday's practice, according to Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune.
Insight: Carlson was cleared to return after missing Week 15 but the recurring symptoms mean he'll have to go through the NFL's concussion protocol again. He's highly questionable for Week 16, leaving the Vikings with Rhett Ellison and Chase Ford at tight end for a second straight week.
Description: Detroit tight end Brandon Pettigrew was seen on crutches Wednesday at the team's practice facility. SOURCE: Detroit Free Press
Insight: That won't help his chances of playing Sunday against the Giants. He's listed as questionable with an ankle injury though he might be closer to doubtful. Joseph Fauria, who has been a touchdown machine in his rookie season (seven of his 12 receptions have gone for touchdowns), would likely get the start if Pettigrew can't play in Week 16.
Description: Texans TE Garrett Graham (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.
Insight: Graham is "iffy" for Week 16, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. Owen Daniels (leg) also has a chance to play, so there's no need to go into this weekend with Graham slotted in as your fantasy tight end.
Description: Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano (concussion, knee) fully practiced Wednesday, according to Adam Teicher of espn.com.
Insight: Fasano missed the last two games due to a concussion and a knee injury. He caught a touchdown in three straight games before going down and replacement Sean McGrath hauled in one in Week 15. Fasano could have TE2 relevance this week.
Description: Texans TE Garrett Graham (hamstring) is out Sunday against the Colts.
Insight: Graham missed practice all week. With Owen Daniels still out, the Texans are down to Ryan Griffin and Brad Smelley at tight end. Griffin is the better long-shot play seeing how he's actually been targeted this season.
Description: The Texans do not expect to have Garrett Graham (hamstring) Sunday against the Colts, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Insight: Graham missed practice all week. He's listed as questionable but is closer to doubtful. With Owen Daniels still out, the Texans will be down to Ryan Griffin and Brad Smelley at tight end. Griffin is the better long-shot play seeing how he's actually been targeted this season.
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed is done for the season. SOURCE: Fox Sports
Insight: He hasn't played since suffering a concussion in Week 11. Reed will finish his rookie campaign with 45 catches, 499 yards and three touchdowns. Logan Paulsen will be the team's starting tight end for the rest of the season.
Description: In a surprise move, the Broncos are going to start tight end Virgil Green in the slot Thursday against San Diego. Wide receiver Wes Welker usually plays the slot but is out with a concussion. SOURCE: Mike Klis, Denver Post
Insight: Jacob Tamme was expected to start in Welker's place but instead the Broncos are going with Green, the third-year tight end from Nevada. Green has never caught a touchdown pass in 40 NFL games but with Manning throwing, there's always that possibility.
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed (concussion) did not practice again on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session.
Insight: Reed appears to be going backwards after passing concussion tests two weeks ago. He's been a huge asset this season, but this concussion couldn't have come at a worse time for fantasy owners - just as the playoffs were about to begin.
Description: Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano (concussion, knee) got in a limited practice Wednesday.
Insight: Fasano missed Week 14 against the Redskins due to a concussion and knee injury. He'll need to pass concussion tests before being fully cleared to play, but he's on the right track. Fasano caught a touchdown in each of his last three games.
Description: Titans tight end Delanie Walker (concussion) practiced Wednesday, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.
Insight: Walker had emerged as one of Ryan Fitzpatrick's top targets with 19 catches for 199 yards and two scores between Weeks 10 and 12 before suffering a concussion in Week 13 and missing Week 14. The Cardinals have allowed 4.0 more fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends than any other team in the NFL this season, which puts Walker on the TE1 radar this week.
Description: Denver tight end Jacob Tamme is expected to pick up most of the work at the slot position if Wes Welker is inactive for Thursday's game against San Diego.
Insight: Tamme saw 45-of-46 snaps after Welker went down last Sunday and caught four balls for 47 yards. Peyton Manning obviously has plenty of confidence in his backup tight end going back to their days in Indianapolis.
Description: The Patriots placed Rob Gronkowski on injured reserve Monday with a torn right ACL and MCL.
Insight: Gronkowski suffered the devastating injury Sunday against the Bengals. He's had to undergo five surgeries (four on his arm, one on his back) since last November and missed the first six games of 2013. Fantasy owners should expect the tight end to be questionable for the start of the 2014 season.
Description: According to Fox's Mike Garafolo, the Patriots believe tight end Rob Gronkowski suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's win over Cleveland.
Insight: This is absolutely devastating news for fantasy owners as Gronk has been the best tight end in football since his return from an arm injury in Week 7. We won't know Gronkowski's official diagnosis until he has an MRI on Monday but fantasy owners should be preparing for the worst.
Description: New England tight end Rob Gronkowski suffered a serious knee injury Sunday against Cleveland and had to be carted off the field.
Insight: If it's as bad as it looked, the Patriots' Super Bowl hopes just took a major hit. Nothing is going right for New England today as they trail 12-0 with just over six minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Description: Broncos tight end Julius Thomas (knee) is active for Sunday's game against Tennessee.
Insight: Thomas had missed the last two games with a knee injury. His return couldn't have come at a better time for the Broncos, who need Thomas to work the middle of the field with tough cornerbacks Alterraun Verner and Jason McCourty on the outside. He's a top-five tight end option.
Description: Ravens tight end Dallas Clark won't be active for Sunday's game against Minnesota.
Insight: Dennis Pitta has replaced him in the starting lineup. It appears Clark's days of fantasy significance are over, at least for this season. Expect him to be a healthy scratch the rest of the way.
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed (concussion) practiced Friday, but will not play against Kansas City in Week 14.
Insight: Reed passed concussion tests last week but had a recurrence of headaches and was a late scratch Sunday night against the Giants. Fred Davis and Logan Paulsen will have to cover for him this week against the Chiefs.
Description: Atlanta tight end Tony Gonzalez will play Sunday against the Packers.
Insight: Gonzalez (62 catches, 653 yards, 5 TD) has been nursing a toe injury for a few weeks but has yet to miss a game. Even at less than 100 percent, he's still one of the better tight end options in fantasy.
Description: The Ravens have activated tight end Dennis Pitta (hip) from injured reserve according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports.
Insight: Pitta is expected to return Sunday against the Vikings, but because he'll be on a limited snap count he'll be no better than a TE2. He could emerge as a starting fantasy option in Weeks 15-17, however, as Joe Flacco has been hurting for a consistent underneath target all season.
Description: Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano (concussion, knee) will miss Sunday's game against Washington.
Insight: Fasano suffered a concussion and a knee injury while trying to make a diving catch Sunday against the Broncos. He managed to catch a touchdown for a third straight game prior to his injury but will miss his fifth game of the year Sunday. Sean McGrath will start but isn't a fantasy option.
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed (concussion) practiced again Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 14 against Kansas City.
Insight: Reed passed concussion tests last week but had a recurrence of headaches and was a late scratch Sunday night against the Giants. He'll likely be a game-time decision for Sunday's 1 p.m. start.
Description: Broncos tight end Julius Thomas (knee) is probable to play Sunday against the Titans.
Insight: Thomas missed the last two games with a knee injury but is ready to return. And just in time for Denver, who need Thomas to work the middle of the field with tough cornerbacks Alterraun Verner and Jason McCourty on the outside. He's a top-five tight end option.
