Boston's Bergeron wins Selke Trophy
Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron snapped a long Boston drought when he was selected for the Selke Trophy as the top defensive forward in the NHL.
The native of Quebec became the first member of the franchise to be so recognized since Steve Kasper won in 1982.
Bergeron finished with 64 points, good for second on the team, and placed second in the league by winning 59.3 percent of his faceoff draws.
The 26-year-old center, who led the league with a plus-36 rating, paced all Bruins forwards with 67 blocked shots and 55 takeaways.
Vancouver's Ryan Kesler won last season, snapping Pavel Datsyuk's three-year reign.
