Description: Heat swingman James Jones started a second straight game Wednesday at Orlando and had 17 points and five threes in 20 minutes of play.
Insight: Jones had played just four minutes all season prior to the last two games, which he started with Dwyane Wade out. Wade's status going forward is uncertain, so Jones could see more starts, but he's only a fantasy option for owners desperate for threes in 14-16 team leagues.

Description: Small forward James Jones wants to return to the Heat next season. Jones had originally planned to retire following the 2011-12 season.
Insight: If Jones does come back, it's doubtful that he'll be able to play any kind of significant role in the team's offense next season, especially with three-point specialists Ray Allen (14.2 ppg) and Rashard Lewis (7.8 ppg) already under contract. Jones averaged 3.6 ppg on 40.4 percent three-point shooting in 51 regular season contests for Miami last season.

Description: Despite spraining his left hand in Sunday's win over the Knicks, James Jones will play Monday night against the Nets.
Insight: Jones (8.8 ppg in his last four outings) should benefit from Shane Battier's absence Monday night.
4/15/2012 4:19:00 PM
Description: James Jones injured his hand Sunday after colliding with Knicks guard Iman Shumpert. After receiving X-rays, the injury was classified as a sprained left hand.
Insight: James Jones is always a popular pick to win the Three-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend but in fantasy, he's never been much help. Jones is averaging a mere 3.3 ppg in his 43 games this season.
5/1/2011 7:47:00 PM
Description: The Heat got more than they bargained for from James Jones as he had 25 points thanks to five triples in the win over Boston.
Insight: If you had Jones scoring more than LeBron in a prop bet, then make sure you don't spend it all in one place. Jones is unlikely score more than 10 in any game and the Celtics will need to be better on the perimeter for Game 2 on Tuesday.
12/3/2010 11:02:00 AM
Description: Jones his five three-pointers on his way to 18 points as the Heat won in Cleveland.
Insight: Jones has hit 2.2 threes per game and has converted 43.6% of his threes this season. He will likely see a diminished role when Mike Miller returns. (
12/3/2010 12:24:00 AM
Description: James Jones knocked down five treys on his way to 18 points with six rebounds.
Insight: He has been far too inconsistent to be considered a must-own. Mike Miller should return in about a month which would terminate Jones' value. His owners in deep leagues shouldn't think twice about adding a player that has a sudden gain in value.

Description: James Jones is dealing with a bad back and said it was bothering him so much that he was concerned with driving him. SOURCE: Sun Sentinel
Insight: Jones has an expiration date on his value with Mike Miller ready to usurp his role when he returns on January. Therefore, should Jones miss a week it is probably not worth owning him since he doesn't have long-term value. Deep league owners should hold J.J. until more info is unearthed, but standard league owners might want to consider adding guys like Kyle Lowry, Jonny Flynn, or Tyson Chandler.
11/3/2010 11:03:00 AM
Description: Jones canned five three-pointers on his way to 17 points off the Heat bench.
Insight: Jones is going to be a fantasy factor if for no other reason that he is averaging 3.6 threes per game. He is getting the most minutes off the Heat bench. Because he can also play defense, he will continue to get playing time. (
11/2/2010 10:45:00 PM
Description: James Jones (17 points, six rebounds, and five threes) and Eddie House (15 points, four threes, and two steals) lit up the Timberwolves on Tuesday.
Insight: Jones is on fire and needs to be owned in all leagues right now. His value is at its peak, so his owners might want to see what kind of market Mr. Jones could garner. Eddie House is worth an add for owners seeking threes as well.
10/27/2010 11:36:00 PM
Description: James Jones caught fire for the Heat as he made six triples on 7-of-10 shooting for 20 points.
Insight: All that hype Mike Miller had to bury threes for Miami has just transferred to Mr. Jones. If a guy makes six treys in the second game of the season, there's really nothing to think about and he should just be picked up. We'll see what he does this weekend as he should be on a short leash by fantasy owners.

Description: James Jones has signed a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum. SOURCE:South Florida Sun Sentinel
Insight: Jones never really blossomed into much of a threat from deep and he won't be much of a factor unless the Heat get bitten by the injury bug.
