Description: Bulls center Joakim Noah had 13 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and two steals in 35 minutes Thursday against the Rockets.
Insight: Evidently Noah, aka the new-age Bill Walton, is going to flirt with a triple-double every night for the rest of the season. He\'s tied for second in the NBA with three, all of which came since Feb. 11. Noah has thrown up 13.3 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.6 bpg and 1.1 spg his last 43 games and averaged seven-plus assists per game over his last 15.
Description: Chicago G/F Mike Dunleavy gutted out a 37-minute, 21-point, seven-rebound performance Thursday against the Rockets, hitting four triples in the process.
Insight: An elbow to the face sent Dunleavy to the locker room with blood gushing from above his right eye and caused him to get 10 stitches, but he returned to start the second half and had his best scoring game since Feb. 25 after five straight games with single-digit points.
Description: Lightning center Valtteri Filppula was in a giving mood Thursday, handing out three assists.
Insight: Filppula has come up with five points in his last three games and 46 points in 61 games this season. A broken ankle prevented the 29-year-old from challenging his career high of 66 points, set in 2011-12, but he already has the second highest points total of his career.
Description: Lightning rookie winger Ondrej Palat has contributed six points (three goals) in his last three games.
Insight: Palat is in a spirited competition with teammate Tyler Johnson for second place in scoring among rookies (Colorado\'s Nathan MacKinnon leads the field with 51). Palat has 43 points to Johnson\'s 42.
Description: St. Louis reliever Jason Motte, who had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last May, will throw live BP on Friday, according to mlb.com. He has spent the past few weeks increasing the intensity of his bullpen sessions so that he could move onto the next phase in his recovery.
Insight: Motte led the National League in saves in 2012 with 42 but missed all of last season. He\'ll likely end up being a setup man for Trevor Rosenthal so he\'ll have limited fantasy value in all leagues except those who accumulate holds.
Description: Los Angeles\' Matt Kemp (ankle) played the outfield again on Thursday, according to Ken Gurnick of mlb.com.
Insight: Kemp played two half-innings, one more than he played Wednesday. He is attempting to come back from ankle surgery in October. Kemp has missed 145 games the last two seasons due to hamstring, shoulder and ankle injuries and hit a paltry .270 with six homers and a .723 OPS over 73 games in 2013. If he can avoid a setback, he should be ready to play after the Dodgers finish their season-opening series in Australia. Kemp is a typical high-risk, high-reward option.
Description: The Panthers officially released their longtime No. 1 wideout Steve Smith on Thursday.
Insight: The 34-year-old\'s career was revitalized when Carolina drafted QB Cam Newton and he put up 2,568 yards and 11 touchdowns on 152 catches in 2011-12, but he had just 745 yards and four scores on 64 catches (11.6 ypc) in 15 games last season. The Ravens are the favorite to land the veteran, but he\'s unlikely to carry much fantasy value as a third option behind Torrey Smith and Dennis Pitta. As we just saw for years in Houston, new Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak\'s offense heavily features the tight end and No. 1 receiver but not the No. 2 wideout.
Description: Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said he thinks of Dexter McCluster as more of a running back than a wide receiver, according to the Tennessean.
Insight: McCluster signed with the Titans this week after spending the last four years in Kansas City. McCluster reeled in 46+ catches in each of the last three seasons but had just 20 carries combined the last two after taking 114 rushes for 516 yards (4.5 ypc) in 2011. Whisenhunt was OC of the Chargers last season and may see McCluster as his new Danny Woodhead (106 carries, 76 receptions, 1,034 yards from scrimmage, eight total TDs in 2013). If that\'s the case, he could have strong fantasy value.
