Description: Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki had an awful game Sunday versus San Antonio.
Insight: Dirk (11 points, eight rebounds) made just four of his 14 field goal attempts and was invisible when the Mavs needed him most in the fourth quarter (0-for-4, two fouls, one turnover in the final six minutes of regulation). The Spurs have given him trouble all season as the seven-footer is averaging just 17 ppg in five games against them in 2013-14 (season average is 21.7 ppg).
Description: Tim Duncan delivered a sensational effort Sunday in a Game 1 victory over Dallas.
Insight: Nine of Duncan\'s game-high 27 points came in the fourth quarter as the Spurs quickly erased a ten-point deficit to win by five. The veteran has averaged 20.2 ppg against the Mavericks this season (five games).
Description: The Blackhawks will be without defenseman Brent Seabrook for three games after the NHL suspended him for his charging hit on David Backes of the Blues in Game 2. SOURCE: Tracey Myers, csnchicago.com
Insight: Seabrook was ejected from Game 2 and Chicago lost in overtime, putting the defending Stanley Cup Champions down 2-0. Seabrook had a goal and an assist in each of the first two games of the series after producing 41 points (seven goals, 34 assists), 149 SOG and a +23 rating during the regular season.
Description: The Twins were able to claim outfielder Sam Fuld, who was recently placed on waivers. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: Fuld was designated for assignment by Oakland about a week ago. Even if Fuld becomes an everyday player, which is certainly possible in Minnesota\'s lackluster outfield, he won\'t be much of a fantasy option (.233 average in 743 career at bats).
Description: Mets right-hander Jose Valverde will no longer be used in save opportunities.
Insight: Valverde has been a disaster in recent seasons and 2014 has been no different (5.40 ERA in 8 1/3 innings). Kyle Farnsworth (1.23 ERA in eight games) has been installed as the team\'s closer and should be owned in all fantasy leagues.
Description: Updating a previous item, the 49ers are no longer planning to cut troubled linebacker Aldon Smith. SOURCE: NFL.com
Insight: Smith has had a laundry list of off-field distractions to deal with over the last two years but he\'s still one of the most talented pass rushers in football. Let\'s see if he can take advantage of the second chance the 49ers are giving him.
