Lopsided trade

Zach Randolph averaged 20.8 ppg and 10.1 rpg last season between two teams.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - From a fantasy point of view, the Zach Randolph for Quentin Richardson deal is about as one-sided as a trade can be.

Memphis will get the most production out of the transaction, receiving Randolph from the Los Angeles Clippers. The 6'10" forward averaged 20.8 ppg and 10.1 rpg last season between two teams, the New York Knicks and the Clippers. Randolph's career averages since becoming a full-time starter in 2003 are 19.8 ppg and 9.76 rpg.

"We are pleased to acquire a player of Zach Randolph's caliber," Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said. "Zach is one of the best low-post scorers in the league and a force on the boards as well. He will also bring much- needed experience to the team."

With Memphis, a healthy Randolph should slot nicely at the power forward slot, and compliment the outside game of O.J. Mayo, Mike Conley and Rudy Gay. His rebounding ability will also be of value since center Marc Gasol could only pull down 7.4 rpg last year and they were out-rebounded as a team. The Grizzlies also drafted a center who is a pretty good rebounder - Hasheem Thabeet.

Like Randolph, Richardson has been an "NBA nomad," returning to the team he started with after stops in Phoenix, New York and Memphis. Richardson averaged 10.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 1.6 apg last year with New York who traded him to Memphis on draft night in exchange for Darko Milicic.

Obviously the "real life" trade for Los Angeles was made for reasons off the court more than on. In this one, the Clippers get rid of $33 million worth of obligations over the next two seasons while taking on the final year of Richardson's deal at $9 million.
