Oakland Raiders Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Latavius Murray, RB6/19/2014 10:01:00 PM
Description: Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson said the team is "looking for big things" from second-year running back Latavius Murray, according to csnbayarea.com.
Insight: "He’s shown, to me, the biggest upside right now in what we’ve seen thus far, if he can stay healthy," Olson said. The 6-foot-3, 223-pound Murray, who ran a 40-yard dash of 4.38 seconds, missed his rookie year with an ankle injury. He's behind Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew on the depth chart but could get a shot later this season and is someone to watch in dynasty leagues.
Derek Carr, QB6/8/2014 3:38:00 PM
Description: Second-round draft pick Derek Carr will have a chance to compete for the Raiders' starting quarterback job this season. SOURCE: Albert Breer, NFL.com
Insight: Matt Schaub, acquired from Houston in a trade this offseason, is the current No. 1 on Oakland's QB depth chart. However, Carr was excellent in his final year at Fresno State (50 TD, 8 INT, 5,082 passing yards) and should challenge Schaub every step of the way. This situation may not be resolved until deep into training camp.
James Jones, WR6/3/2014 2:46:00 PM
Description: Former Green Bay Packers receiver James Jones should have the No. 1 wideout spot locked up in Oakland, but a big question to be answered in Raiders' camp will be who starts across from him?
Insight: Denarius Moore, Rod Streater, Andre Holmes and Greg Little will compete for the job. We like Moore if he can stay healthy with Streater as the primary backup.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB6/3/2014 2:36:00 PM
Description: Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden will compete for the starting job in Oakland, though both backs should see a reliable workload.
Insight: Of course that's until one of the two injury-prone backs goes down with the inevitable injury. The key question, therefore, is which one will get hurt first?
Greg Little, WR5/19/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: The Raiders claimed Greg Little off waivers from the Browns, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: Little was cut by Cleveland even though Josh Gordon is facing suspension. The 24-year-old has good size and speed but has never displayed reliable hands in his three NFL seasons. He won't make a fantasy impact with the Raiders or any other franchise.
Derek Carr, QB5/9/2014 7:28:00 PM
Description: With the 36th-overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected QB Derek Carr out of Fresno State.
Insight: His brother David went No. 1 overall to the Houston Texans in 2002. Carr, who is athletic and has a big arm, will likely open the season as a backup to Matt Schaub.
Terrelle Pryor, QB4/20/2014 4:33:00 PM
Description: The Raiders are prepared to waive quarterback Terrelle Pryor on Monday if they can't work out a trade in the next 24 hours. SOURCE: Alex Marvez, Fox Sports 1
Insight: Pryor became expendable when the team traded for Matt Schaub this offseason. Pryor is an elite runner (his 576 rushing yards led all quarterbacks last season) but has struggled passing the ball in his two seasons with Oakland (69.3 QB rating, 56.3 completion percentage in 14 games).
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB3/29/2014 9:17:00 AM
Description: Maurice Jones-Drew has agreed to a three-year contract with Oakland. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: The Raiders' backfield tandem of Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden figures to be close to a 50/50 split. That won't help either one's fantasy value heading into 2014.
Terrelle Pryor, QB3/24/2014 9:35:00 PM
Description: Quarterback Terrelle Pryor wants out of Oakland. SOURCE: Tim Kawakami, Mercury News
Insight: He asked the team for a trade earlier this offseason. All Pryor wants is a starting job in the NFL. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen in Oakland after the Raiders acquired Matt Schaub in a trade with Houston late last week.
Matt Schaub, QB3/21/2014 9:56:00 AM
Description: The Raiders have acquired QB Matt Schaub from the Texans for a sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft, according to ESPN's Adam Schafter.
Insight: Schaub immediately becomes Oakland's No. 1 quarterback option with Terrelle Pryor as his main backup. His receivers are nothing special and it's unlikely Schaub will be coveted on fantasy draft day after his lousy 2013 campaign (14 INT, 73.0 QB rating in ten appearances).
Charles Woodson, CB3/20/2014 5:43:00 PM
Description: Oakland re-signed safety Charles Woodson on Thursday. SOURCE: Josina Anderson, ESPN
Insight: It's a one-year deal. Woodson totaled 97 tackles, two sacks and one interception last season. He'll turn 38 in October.
James Jones, WR3/17/2014 7:12:00 PM
Description: Former Green Bay Packers receiver James Jones has signed a three-year contract with the Oakland Raiders.
Insight: Jones led the NFL with 14 touchdown grabs in 2012 but dropped to three in 2013. He finished with a career-high 817 yards on 59 receptions in 14 games. He'll go from having one of the top QBs in the NFL to a team that currently has no starting quarterback, but he also will have far less competition for targets on the Raiders.
Darren McFadden, RB3/11/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Darren McFadden's new deal with Oakland is a one-year, $4 million contract. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Rashad Jennings signed with the Jets earlier today, which will only help McFadden's fantasy value. McFadden's lone 1,000-yard season came in 2010 when he rushed 223 times for 1,157 yards. As most fantasy owners already know, McFadden has never played an entire 16-game season.
Darren McFadden, RB3/11/2014 4:20:00 PM
Description: Fallon Smith of CSN Bay Area says free agent running back Darren McFadden will return to the Oakland Raiders.
Insight: The Raiders were thought to be more interested in keeping Rashad Jennings than McFadden, but perhaps not.
Darren McFadden, RB3/6/2014 6:59:00 PM
Description: ESPN's John Clayton suggested Miami as a possible suitor for free agent running back Darren McFadden.
Insight: Starter Lamar Miller was a relative disappointment for the Dolphins last season, rushing 177 times for 709 yards in 16 games. It might be hard for McFadden, who is also being pursued by the Bengals, to find more than a one-year deal given his recent injury history.
Nnamdi Asomugha, CB12/26/2013 9:21:00 PM
Description: Three-time Pro Bowler Nnamdi Asomugha will announce his retirement on Friday. SOURCE: Scott Blair, Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area
Insight: He'll sign a one-day contract with Oakland so he can retire with the team he began his career with in 2003. Asomugha logged two tackles in three games for the 49ers before getting cut last month. In his prime, the Cal-Berkeley alum was considered one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL.
Terrelle Pryor, QB12/23/2013 4:22:00 PM
Description: The Raiders will go with Terrelle Pryor under center Sunday in the season finale. SOURCE: Scott Bair, Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area
Insight: He'll get the start against Denver. Pryor has struggled to throw the ball this season (66.0 QB rating, 57.7 completion percentage) but his 527 rushing yards ranks second among quarterbacks. With Pryor starting, Penn State alum Matt McGloin will head to the bench.
Matt McGloin, QB12/16/2013 9:30:00 AM
Description: Oakland coach Dennis Allen said Matt McGloin will be his starting quarterback next week against San Diego.
Insight: McGloin was not good against Kansas City throwing four interceptions, but did accumulate 297 yards and two touchdown passes. It speaks volumes about the future of Terrelle Pryor in Oakland.
Denarius Moore, WR12/15/2013 3:02:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) practiced this week and is active for Sunday's game with Kansas City.
Insight: Moore missed the last three games, allowing Rod Streater and Andre Holmes to step in as top targets for Matt McGloin. Moore's return will make Oakland's receiver situation too unpredictable to bother with in Week 15.
Denarius Moore, WR12/11/2013 3:08:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) practiced Wednesday.
Insight: Moore missed the last three games, allowing Rod Streater and Andre Holmes to step in as top targets for Matt McGloin. Moore's return will make Oakland's receiver situation too unpredictable to bother with in Week 15.
Rashad Jennings, RB12/10/2013 8:16:00 PM
Description: Raiders halfback Rashad Jennings won't be limited Sunday against Kansas City. SOURCE: Comcast Bay Area
Insight: Jennings is going to see his usual workload, which means he'll be a solid flex/RB2 option for fantasy owners in Week 15. He missed Sunday's game because of a concussion but was given medical clearance to return earlier this week.
Rashad Jennings, RB12/9/2013 7:13:00 PM
Description: According to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland running back Rashad Jennings has passed his concussion tests.
Insight: Jennings proved to be a strong RB2 in place of the injured Darren McFadden from Weeks 9-13, but he suffered a concussion on Thanksgiving and missed Sunday's game against the Jets. Marcel Reece filled in and had 161 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown, but he'll return to fullback with Jennings back in the lineup. While Oakland's Week 15 matchup against the Chiefs has blowout potential, Jennings will be a RB2.
Marcel Reece, FB12/8/2013 7:16:00 PM
Description: Oakland fullback Marcel Reece had a productive day Sunday against the Jets.
Insight: The 255-pounder finished with 123 yards on 19 carries. He also came away with 38 receiving yards on two catches. Reece had only carried the ball 22 times all season prior to Sunday. He'll face a tough Kansas City team in Week 15.
Marcel Reece, FB12/8/2013 12:01:00 PM
Description: Raiders fullback Marcel Reece is the only healthy back in the Oakland backfield and should be a viable fantasy option.
Insight: Darren McFadden, Rashad Jennings and Jeremy Stewart are all inactive for Week 14 against the Jets.
Rashad Jennings, RB12/8/2013 11:28:00 AM
Description: Oakland running back Rashad Jennings has officially been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets. SOURCE: Raiders on Twitter
Insight: Jennings wasn't able to pass concussion protocol after leaving last week's game in the fourth quarter. With Darren McFadden also out, fullback Marcel Reece will have to anchor the Raiders' ground game. With snow in the forecast, Sunday's game at Metlife Stadium could be a low-scoring affair.
Rashad Jennings, RB12/6/2013 6:24:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings (concussion) hasn't received clearance to play in Week 14, according to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Insight: Jennings still has to pass his final concussion tests. He has been able to practice this week after passing initial tests, so he should be able to play Sunday against the Jets.
Denarius Moore, WR12/6/2013 2:49:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) missed all three practices this week and isn't likely to be ready for Sunday's game with the Jets.
Insight: Moore missed the last two games. "He's getting better but not ready yet," coach Dennis Allen said, according to Fallon Smith of CSN Bay Area. Andre Holmes could be worth a play.
Rashad Jennings, RB12/6/2013 2:46:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings (concussion) practiced for a third straight day friday and has been upgraded to probable for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Insight: Barring any late changes he looks ready for Sunday's game against the Jets. He'll only be a solid RB2 as the Jets own the league's best run defense (77 ypg).
Rashad Jennings, RB12/5/2013 5:57:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings (concussion) practiced for the second straight day Thursday, according to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Insight: Jennings was limited in practice and still has to pass some tests before he's fully cleared for Sunday's game against the Jets. If he plays, he'll be a solid RB2 despite the tough matchup.
Tyvon Branch, SS12/5/2013 11:46:00 AM
Description: Raiders strong safety Tyvon Branch (broken leg) returned to practice Wednesday.
Insight: Branch might be the best defensive player the Raiders so his return would be a big boost to the Oakland secondary. They face Geno Smith and the Jets so he might not be pushed into the starting lineup with just a couple of days of practice.
Denarius Moore, WR12/4/2013 4:49:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) missed Wednesday's practice.
Insight: Moore missed the last two games with a shoulder injury and is not expected to play Sunday at New York. "He's getting better but not ready yet," coach Dennis Allen said, according to Fallon Smith of CSN Bay Area.
Darren McFadden, RB12/4/2013 4:47:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden missed Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury, according to Fallon Smith of CSN Bay Area.
Insight: McFadden just returned from a hamstring injury last Thursday at Dallas, but he's already dealing with another issue. He's firmly behind Rashad Jennings on the depth chart and is not a fantasy option even if he plays in Week 14 against the Jets.
Rashad Jennings, RB12/4/2013 4:43:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings (concussion) practiced Wednesday, according to Scott Bair of csnbayarea.com.
Insight: Jennings had 35 yards on 17 carries Thursday at Dallas but also punched in two touchdowns. He should be able to play Sunday against the Jets and is a solid RB2 even with the tough matchup.
Matt McGloin, QB11/29/2013 5:40:00 PM
Description: Oakland coach Dennis Allen says he's "inclined" to use Matt McGloin as his starting quarterback next week against the Jets. SOURCE: Steve Corkran, Contra Costa Times
Insight: McGloin struggled in Thursday's loss to Dallas. The rookie from Penn State has had his ups and downs this season but so has Terrelle Pryor (69.0 QB rating in eight appearances). Halfback Rashad Jennings will continue to be the focal point of the offense regardless of who gets the start at quarterback.
Rashad Jennings, RB11/29/2013 9:52:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings may have suffered a concussion late in the fourth quarter against Dallas.
Insight: Jennings couldn't generate much yardage, but scored twice to save the day for his fantasy owners. He'll have additional time to recover before Oakland's next game on Dec 8. Jennings has recorded five consecutive double-digit games and taken the starting spot away from Darren McFadden.
Darren McFadden, RB11/28/2013 3:32:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden (hamstring) will play Thursday at Dallas.
Insight: McFadden will back up Rashad Jennings in his return to the lineup after missing three straight games. He should not be used in fantasy leagues with all 32 teams active this week.
Mychal Rivera, TE11/28/2013 3:29:00 PM
Description: Oakland Raiders tight end Mychal Rivera (concussion) is active Thursday against the Cowboys.
Insight: Rivera suffered a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit from Titans safety Michael Griffin just four days ago, but he's ready to go. He had five catches for 54 yards and a touchdown two weeks ago at Houston and will be Matt McGloin's No. 2 target Thursday.
Denarius Moore, WR11/27/2013 4:55:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's Thanksgiving Day game at Dallas.
Insight: Moore missed Sunday's game against the Titans, allowing Rod Streater to step into the No. 1 receiver role. Streater saw nine targets and caught five of them for 93 yards against Tennessee and is a WR3 option at Dallas.
Darren McFadden, RB11/27/2013 10:09:00 AM
Description: Darren McFadden's days of leading the Oakland running attack appear to be over. SOURCE: Contra Costa Times
Insight: If McFadden (hamstring) does suit up Thursday against the Cowboys, he won't be used as the starter. Rashad Jennings, a relative unknown before the season started, has emerged as a top-ten fantasy running back. With free agency looming, the injury-prone McFadden may not be a Raider for much longer.
Rashad Jennings, RBHot11/26/2013 5:18:00 PM
Description: Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson said the team plans to stick with the "hot hand" at running back, which means Rashad Jennings will continue to start even though Darren McFadden (hamstring) is ready to return. SOURCE: Steve Corkran, Contra Costa Times
Insight: Jennings has produced 583 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 88 touches the last four games. While McFadden will cut into his touches, Jennings is still a RB2 Thanksgiving Day at Dallas.
Darren McFadden, RB11/26/2013 11:09:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden practiced Monday and could be ready to go Thursday in Dallas.
Insight: With Rashad Jennings playing some of the best football of his career right now, there's no guarantee McFadden sees enough work to be of value to fantasy owners.
Denarius Moore, WR11/26/2013 11:05:00 AM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) missed Sunday's game and wasn't part of Monday's practice.
Insight: He's closer to doubtful than questionable for Thursday's game in Dallas. If Moore can't go, Rod Streater will again be the only fantasy-worthy receiving option for the Raiders.
Darren McFadden, RB11/23/2013 6:01:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden will be out again Sunday against Tennessee.
Insight: He's been working his way back from a hamstring injury but as usual with McFadden, the recovery process has taken all kinds of twists and turns. With Rashad Jennings playing some of the best football of his career right now, there's no guarantee McFadden would get the starting job back anyway. It's too early for fantasy owners to cut the chord completely but that doesn't mean they should expect a speedy recovery.
Denarius Moore, WR11/22/2013 4:48:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Tennessee, according to Scott Bair of csnbayarea.com.
Insight: Moore missed another practice Friday with a shoulder injury. Rod Streater will be QB Matt McGloin's No. 1 target on the outside, but tight end Mychal Rivera also should see increased targets and is a sleeper TE1.
Denarius Moore, WR11/21/2013 3:47:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) missed another practice on Thursday.
Insight: He has 569 yards and five scores on 37 catches this season and will be a WR3 in Week 12 against the Titans if he's healthy. If he doesn't play Oakland QB Matt McGloin will be extremely limited in his receiver options.
Darren McFadden, RB11/21/2013 3:15:00 PM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) did not practice Thursday.
Insight: The oft-injured McFadden shouldn't be counted on for anything at the moment. Even if he were to get back on the field, he'd likely be the backup to Rashad Jennings.
Darren McFadden, RB11/20/2013 9:21:00 PM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) is "definitely getting closer" to returning, coach Dennis Allen said, according to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times.
Insight: The oft-injured McFadden has rushed for 1,059 yards on 314 carries (3.4 ypc) in 19 games the last two seasons, while Rashad Jennings has produced 431 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns the last three games. If McFadden returns Sunday, he likely will be in a timeshare with Jennings, which will put a damper on the fantasy value of both players.
Denarius Moore, WR11/20/2013 6:12:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder) missed Wednesday's practice, according to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times. Moore underwent an MRI Monday, the results of which are not yet available.
Insight: Moore had just 11 yards on two catches against Houston but saved his day with a touchdown, his first since Oct. 10. He has 569 yards and five scores on 37 catches this season and will be a WR3 in Week 12 against the Titans if he's healthy. If Moore has to miss the game, Rod Streater would be Matt McGloin's No. 1 target.
Matt McGloin, QB11/20/2013 4:35:00 PM
Description: Matt McGloin has earned another start at quarterback for the Raiders. SOURCE: Jerry McDonald, Oakland Tribune
Insight: He'll get the nod Sunday versus Tennessee. It's unclear if McGloin's starter distinction is temporary or permanent. Terrelle Pryor is still working his way back from a knee injury but he wasn't playing well even before he got hurt.
Denarius Moore, WR11/19/2013 5:20:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Denarius Moore suffered a shoulder injury Sunday against the Texans and went for an MRI Monday.
Insight: Moore had just 11 yards on two catches against Houston but saved his day with a touchdown, his first since Oct. 10. He has 569 yards and five scores on 37 catches this season and will be a WR3 in Week 12 against the Titans if he's healthy.
Darren McFadden, RB11/18/2013 9:28:00 AM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) missed a second straight game Sunday and given Rashad Jennings' performance might not be the starter when he is healthy.
Insight: Jennings rushed 22 times for 150 yards and a touchdown in Week 11's win at Houston and has totaled 431 yards from scrimmage over his last three games.
Rashad Jennings, RBHot11/17/2013 5:12:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings had another huge game in place of the injured Darren McFadden Sunday at Houston.
Insight: Jennings had 150 yards and a touchdown (80-yarder) in the game, giving him 431 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns over his last three games. McFadden is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury.
Matt McGloin, QB11/17/2013 5:09:00 PM
Description: Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin threw three touchdowns and zero picks in his first career start Sunday at Houston.
Insight: McGloin may have taken away the starting job from Terrelle Pryor with the performance. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported prior to the game that Sunday would be a "big barometer" on McGloin's chances at supplanting Pryor.
Darren McFadden, RB11/17/2013 12:31:00 PM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) will miss a second straight game Sunday against the Texans.
Insight: McFadden is a notoriously slow healer. Rashad Jennings, who has picked up 22 touches in each of the last two games, will start again and is a high-end flex option.
Terrelle Pryor, QB11/16/2013 4:11:00 PM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pryor won't be active for Sunday's game versus Houston.
Insight: His knee hasn't looked right all week. Matt McGloin is going to draw the start under center. Houston's top-ranked defense should be in for an enormous fantasy week.
Matt McGloin, QB11/15/2013 9:15:00 PM
Description: Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin is likely to get the nod Sunday versus Houston. SOURCE: Jerry McDonald, Oakland Tribune
Insight: With Terrelle Pryor banged up, what other choice does Oakland have? McGloin has never started a game in his career. This has fantasy disaster written all over it.
Darren McFadden, RB11/14/2013 2:53:00 PM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) missed another practice.
Insight: Nothing new here. McFadden is a notoriously slow healer. Barring a miracle, it's another weekend to start Rashad Jennings. Jennings totaled 107 yards from scrimmage last week and 176 yards from scrimmage against Philadelphia in Week 9.
Terrelle Pryor, QB11/14/2013 2:50:00 PM
Description: Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor (sprained his MCL) returned for a limited practice session on Thursday.
Insight: Pryor's backup, quarterback Matthew McGloin, also got some reps with the first team, so this one could come down to a game-time decision.
Terrelle Pryor, QB11/10/2013 7:34:00 PM
Description: Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor sprained his MCL during Sunday's loss to the Giants. SOURCE: Vic Tafur, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: The knee injury would explain Pryor's bad outing in Week 10 (11-for-26, 122 yards, INT). Pryor's backup is former Penn State quarterback Matthew McGloin.
Darren McFadden, RB11/8/2013 4:40:00 PM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 10 against the Giants.
Insight: McFadden, who is a notoriously slow healer, suffered the injury in Week 9 and didn't practice at all this week. Rashad Jennings, who had 176 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 22 touches in relief of McFadden Sunday, will start and is a top-20 running back this week.
Darren McFadden, RB11/8/2013 2:10:00 PM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) missed another practice on Friday.
Insight: McFadden is looking very questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, particularly given his past history for not playing with injuries. Rashad Jennings is a worthwhile top-20 running back after picking up 176 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 22 touches in Week 9.
Terrelle Pryor, QB11/7/2013 7:01:00 PM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pryor (knee) has put in a full practice session in each of the last two days.
Insight: Pryor left Sunday's blowout loss to the Eagles with a knee injury, but it was for precautionary reasons. He'll start Sunday and is a borderline QB1.
Darren McFadden, RB11/7/2013 4:32:00 PM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) missed Thursday's practiced.
Insight: McFadden is looking doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants. Rashad Jennings is a worthwhile top-20 running back after picking up 176 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 22 touches in Week 9.
Darren McFadden, RB11/6/2013 3:39:00 PM
Description: Oakland RB Darren McFadden was absent from the team's practice session on Wednesday. SOURCE: Vic Tafur, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: McFadden left Sunday's game early after re-injuring his hamstring. With McFadden probably out for this week's game against the Giants, backup Rashad Jennings should be a respectable fantasy option for Week 10.
Terrelle Pryor, QB11/6/2013 3:34:00 PM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pryor was back at practice on Wednesday. SOURCE: Vic Tafur, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: Pryor's status had been in question after a knee injury forced him to leave Sunday's game early. We imagine he'll be fine for Sunday's tilt against the Giants.
Terrelle Pryor, QB11/3/2013 8:21:00 PM
Description: Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor left Sunday's game against the Eagles with a knee injury, but he said it was "precautionary." SOURCE: Scott Bair, csnbayarea.com
Insight: The Raiders were getting blown out 49-13 in the fourth quarter when Pryor left. The young QB said after the game that his knee feels stable. He should be fine to play in Week 10 against the Giants.
Rashad Jennings, RB11/3/2013 7:39:00 PM
Description: Oakland halfback Rashad Jennings scampered for 102 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries Sunday against the Eagles.
Insight: Jennings took over in the backfield after Darren McFadden exited with a hamstring injury. Given how slow McFadden usually heals, it's likely Jennings will start in Week 10 against the Giants.
Darren McFadden, RB11/3/2013 5:57:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden will not return to Sunday's game after leaving with a hamstring injury.
Insight: What else is new? The oft-injured running back had 12 yards on five carries before leaving the game.
Darren McFadden, RB10/27/2013 7:56:00 PM
Description: Oakland halfback Darren McFadden doubled his season touchdown total with two scores Sunday versus Pittsburgh.
Insight: McFadden wasn't overly efficient (24 carries for just 73 yards) but the workload was there and so were the touchdowns. Fantasy owners can roll him out as legitimate RB2 as long as he stays healthy.
Terrelle Pryor, QB10/27/2013 7:52:00 PM
Description: Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor rushed for 106 yards on nine carries Sunday in a victory over the Steelers.
Insight: He also contributed 88 yards through the air. Pryor's 93-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was the longest ever for an NFL quarterback. He's on pace to rush for 977.5 yards this season, which would be the most since Michael Vick ran for a quarterback record 1,039 yards in 2006.
Darren McFadden, RB10/25/2013 3:30:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden should be close to 100 percent when the Raiders face Pittsburgh Sunday following a bye week.
Insight: That's good news for McFadden owners though there may not be many holes to run through with the Raiders playing a makeshift offensive line.
Marcel Reece, FB10/16/2013 7:11:00 PM
Description: According to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, Raiders coach Dennis Allen said he wants to get Marcel Reece more touches.
Insight: "Well we’ve got to put him in positions where we know he’s getting it. Turn around and hand the ball off to him. Throw him a quick screen. Do some things where there’s not a lot of decision making involved," Allen said. With both Darren McFadden and Rashad Jennings active in Week 6, Reece had zero carries and just one catch. He won't be a fantasy option unless both McFadden and Jennings go down.
Josh Cribbs, WR10/15/2013 2:20:00 PM
Description: Wideout and kick return specialist Josh Cribbs has signed with the New York Jets.
Insight: The Jets also signed Greg Sales off the Eagles practice squad. This likely means that both Clyde Gates and Santonio Holmes will miss more time.
Matt Flynn, QB10/13/2013 6:40:00 PM
Description: Quarterback Matt Flynn just released by the Oakland Raiders is apparently going to work out for the Buffalo Bills.
Insight: Week 6 starter Thad Lewis left the game in a walking boot and with E.J. Manuel out and Kevin Kolb on IR they have few choices at this point. Obviously they don't want to go back to Jeff Tuel.
Andre Gurode, C10/13/2013 2:26:00 PM
Description: Raiders center Andre Gurode (knee) left Sunday's game against Kansas City and is questionable to return.
Insight: Oakland is paper thin on the offensive line with Gurode already filling in for starting C Stefen Wisniewski.
Rashad Jennings, RB10/13/2013 11:54:00 AM
Description: Oakland halfback Rashad Jennings (hamstring) will be active Sunday against the Chiefs.
Insight: Unfortunately, so will starter Darren McFadden. Even as a flex player, starting Jennings doesn't make much sense.
Darren McFadden, RB10/13/2013 11:14:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden just told ESPN's Colleen Dominguez that he will be in the lineup Sunday against Kansas City.
Insight: McFadden missed Week 5 with a hamstring injury. DMC's backups, Marcel Reece and Rashad Jennings, are no longer viable fantasy options.
Darren McFadden, RB10/12/2013 8:44:00 PM
Description: After speaking with Oakland halfback Darren McFadden on Friday, San Francisco Chronicle reporter Vic Tafur said he didn't think McFadden would play Sunday against the Chiefs.
Insight: McFadden, who sat out Week 5 with a hamstring injury, practiced all week but still isn't feeling like himself. Marcel Reece and Rashad Jennings would split carries in the event of another absence for McFadden though neither are particularly appealing options against Kansas City's top-ranked defense.
Darren McFadden, RB10/11/2013 2:05:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden (hamstring) was a limited participant in Friday's practice, but is expected to give it a go on Sunday.
Insight: The Raiders would probably be smarter to hold him back until after their Week 7 bye, but even if he plays we think the team will also include Rashad Jennings and Marcel Reece in the game plan making all three questionable fantasy staters.
Darren McFadden, RB10/9/2013 2:58:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden (hamstring) is on the practice field doing individual drills.
Insight: Goon news, but expect the Raiders to let him sit another weekend and then benefit from their Week 7 bye. Rashad Jennings should be the guy against rival Kansas City.
Matt Flynn, QB10/7/2013 2:38:00 PM
Description: Quarterback Matt Flynn, who had fallen to third on the Raiders' depth chart following an unsuccessful outing versus Washington, has been released.
Insight: Failing at stops in Seattle and Oakland, there appears to be little left for Flynn. He might end up back in the Packers organization, but his fantasy value is obviously zero at this point.
Rashad Jennings, RB10/7/2013 11:33:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings sustained a hamstring injury and did not play in the second half against San Diego.
Insight: Jennings was productive in the first half with 10 carries for 41 yards. If he can't go and always-injured Darren McFadden is still sidelined, the team will have to make do with Jeremy Stewart and fullback Marcel Reece.
Rashad Jennings, RB10/6/2013 10:29:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings will have to play a big role Sunday against the Chargers, as Darren McFadden have been made inactive for the game.
Insight: Jennings had 116 yards from scrimmage (45 rushing, 71 receiving) on 22 touches in relief of McFadden last week. He's a viable fantasy option.
Darren McFadden, RB10/6/2013 10:25:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden (hamstring) is officially listed as inactive for Week 5 against San Diego.
Insight: No surprise for the ultra-fragile McFadden. Rashad Jennings will be the feature back in Week 5, but Marcel Reece will be active and could be the third-down receiving option.
Darren McFadden, RB10/6/2013 11:25:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden (hamstring) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday night's game against the Chargers and ESPN's Paul Gutierrez suggests that McFadden is unlikely to play until Oct. 27 against the Steelers in Week 8.
Insight: If that ends up being the case, McFadden will miss two games and have the Raiders Week 7 bye to fully heal. "I think (sitting out is) going to help me out a whole lot," McFadden said Friday. "But at the same time we're just taking it day-to-day right now. Just walking around and stuff you can feel it a little bit. It's tight, sore, so hamstrings are one of those things you want to be careful with. I'd rather miss one or two games than to come back and pop it and miss four or five." Rashad Jennings is likely to be the feature back in Week 5, which makes him a solid flex option with four teams on a bye.
Rashad Jennings, RB10/4/2013 9:00:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Rashad Jennings is expected to play a big role Sunday against the Chargers, as Darren McFadden is doubtful with a hamstring injury and Marcel Reece is questionable with a knee issue.
Insight: Jennings had 116 yards from scrimmage (45 rushing, 71 receiving) on 22 touches in relief of McFadden last week. If Reece was healthy he would likely split touches with Jennings, but since he isn't, Jennings is in line for a featured role and should be a solid flex play in Week 5.
Darren McFadden, RB10/3/2013 5:08:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden (hamstring) did not practice Thursday for the second straight day, according to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times.
Insight: However, Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com reports that Raiders coach Dennis Allen said McFadden doesn't need practice reps to play Sunday night against the Chargers. If he's physically able to go, he'll play. Rashad Jennings would be in line for the start if McFadden and Marcel Reece (knee) sit out.
Matt Flynn, QBCold10/2/2013 8:39:00 PM
Description: Matt Flynn has fallen to third on the Raiders' quarterback depth chart following an unsuccessful outing Sunday versus the Redskins. SOURCE: Paul Gutierrez, ESPN
Insight: Flynn made an emergency start in place of Terrelle Pryor, who was still exhibiting concussion symptoms. He should be dropped from all fantasy rosters.
Terrelle Pryor, QB10/2/2013 4:44:00 PM
Description: According to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune, Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor will draw the start Sunday against the Chargers.
Insight: He's finally symptom-free after missing last week's game with a concussion. Although he hasn't piled on a ton of yardage, Pryor's running ability makes him a low-end fantasy starter.
Darren McFadden, RB9/30/2013 9:58:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden left Sunday's game early with an a hamstring injury and given his history with injuries is doubtful for next week versus San Diego.
Insight: The oft-injured McFadden has never made it through a full season without missing a game so it's a surprise it took him this long before he finally get injured. Rashad Jennings took over the primary running back role.
Marcel Reece, FB9/29/2013 5:45:00 PM
Description: Raiders fullback Marcel Reece injured his knee and is done for the day.
Insight: Reece was the most productive fullback in football by a wide margin last season (271 rushing yards, 496 receiving yards) and with Darren McFadden already sidelined could have been in for a decent workload along with Rashad Jennings. It's all on Jennings now.
Darren McFadden, RB9/29/2013 5:35:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden left Sunday's game early with an apparent hamstring injury.
Insight: The oft-injured McFadden has never made it through a full season without missing a game so it's a surprise it took him this long before he finally get injured. Rashad Jennings will take over the halfback duties in his absence.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/29/2013 12:26:00 PM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pryor had a setback Saturday night with a return of concussion symptoms and that's why he won't play on Sunday, according to Fox's Jay Glazer.
Insight: Matt Flynn will get the start with Matt McGloin as his backup. If all goes well, Pryor should be back for next Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/29/2013 10:16:00 AM
Description: Despite a San Francisco Chronicle report that Terrelle Pryor would start Sunday against Washington, it's Matt Flynn who will get the nod in Week 4.
Insight: Pryor passed all his concussion tests but the Raiders are playing it safe by starting the healthier Flynn. We'll have to wait until the inactive lists come out to see if Pryor will be available off the bench though we wouldn't imagine that he would be. If all goes well, Pryor should be back for next Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Matt Flynn, QB9/29/2013 9:55:00 AM
Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Raiders will start Matt Flynn at quarterback Sunday against the Redskins.
Insight: Terrelle Pryor passed his concussion tests but the team is being extra cautious with him. Given how bad Washington's defense has looked this season, Flynn isn't a bad option in two-QB leagues.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/27/2013 6:06:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday that Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor is doubtful for Sunday's game, but Oakland coach Dennis Allen said Friday that Pryor will play if he passes one more concussion test Saturday. SOURCE: San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: Pryor was cleared for contact Friday morning, but he still has one precautionary test to go. "We want to do the right thing for this kid," Allen said. Pryor said he feels 100 percent. If he starts Sunday against the Redskins' horrid defense, he'd make for an intriguing fantasy option.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/26/2013 8:23:00 PM
Description: Raiders QB Terrelle Pyror is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Redskins. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Pryor still hasn't passed all his concussion tests. Matt Flynn will get the start if Pryor is unable to play on Sunday.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/26/2013 2:45:00 PM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pyror (concussion) returned to a limited practice Thursday morning, according to Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com.
Insight: Pryor suffered a concussion Monday night against the Broncos. With the Redskins on the schedule, Pryor would be a top-five quarterback this week if he plays.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/25/2013 4:32:00 PM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pyror (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday.
Insight: Pryor still has to pass concussion tests before being cleared to practice or play in Week 4.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/24/2013 6:24:00 PM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pyror suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter Monday night against the Broncos.
Insight: Pryor tweeted Tuesday that he didn't remember much of the game, but said that he felt great. He'll have to pass concussion tests before being cleared to play in Week 4.
Tyvon Branch, SS9/16/2013 11:06:00 AM
Description: NBC's ProFootballTalk is reporting that Raiders strong safety Tyvon Branch suffered a "significant" ankle injury that will sideline him indefinitely.
Insight: Branch might be the best defensive player the Raiders have so this is a huge blow. We should get an update later on Monday.
Darren McFadden, RB9/15/2013 7:36:00 PM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden shredded the Jaguars for 129 yards on 19 carries Sunday.
Insight: It was his most rushing yards in a game since totaling 171 yards on Sept. 25, 2011 against the Jets. McFadden is the Raiders' most reliable weapon so he'll continue to be featured until he suffers his usual injury.
Marcel Reece, FB9/13/2013 7:39:00 PM
Description: The Raiders and fullback Marcel Reece have reached an agreement on a three-year, $13 million contract extension.
Insight: According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, $7.2 million of that is guaranteed. Reece was the most productive fullback in football by a wide margin last season (271 rushing yards, 496 receiving yards). Now he's finally getting paid like it.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/8/2013 5:39:00 PM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pyror rushed for 112 yards to go along with 217 yards passing Sunday in a loss at Indianapolis.
Insight: He did throw two interceptions but one of those was out of desperation late in the fourth quarter. Overall, it was an admirable performance from a player not many expected to start for the Raiders this season. Pyror should be in for an even bigger game next week against the lowly Jaguars.
Sebastian Janikowski, K9/6/2013 8:28:00 PM
Description: Oakland kicker Sebastian Janikowski missed practice on Wednesday with a calf injury but it looks like he'll be good to go Sunday against the Colts.
Insight: He's listed on the injury report as probable. Janikowski holds the Raiders' franchise record for points scored (1,389).
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/2/2013 9:50:00 PM
Description: Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Terrelle Pryor will start at quarterback for the Raiders Sunday.
Insight: The Chronicle let out coach Dennis Allen's secret. Allen planned on waiting until Sunday to reveal his decision to the public to gain a competitive advantage. That he chose Pryor isn't surprising, as he outplayed Matt Flynn in the preseason. This is the second straight preseason that Flynn entered training camp as the starter and lost the job. Fantasy owners shouldn't bother with anyone on Oakland expect maybe Darren McFadden.
Terrelle Pryor, QB9/2/2013 5:38:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN.com, Raiders coach Dennis Allen has informed Terrelle Pryor and Matt Flynn who his Week 1 starting quarterback will be, but he said he might not announce his ddecision to the public until Sunday morning.
Insight: Fortunately, fantasy owners aren't waiting with bated breath for Allen's decision, and anyone starting Rod Streater or Denarius Moore in Week 1 has bigger problems to worry about. We'd prefer Pryor get the job for Darren McFadden's sake because at least Pryor is a playmaker that defenses have to worry about.
Terrelle Pryor, QB8/29/2013 3:04:00 PM
Description: When Raiders OC Greg Olson talked about Terrelle Pryor Wednesday, it sounded like he was talking about his starting quarterback. "We signed Matt [Flynn] with the thought being that he’s going to come in and be the starter, and we would have that package for Terrelle," Olson said. "But Terrelle has done some things in these preseason games that we’ve been excited about; stuff that a lot of people are excited about. With his success on the field, we’ll continue to add to that package. It was the thought process going in to it. There wasn’t a big package for him a year ago, so we had to absorb that first part. As we continue to grow offensively, we’ll continue to add plays for Terrelle." SOURCE: CSNBayArea.com
Insight: As long as Pryor doesn't have a miserable game Thursday in Oakland's final preseason tilt, he'll likely be the Raiders starting QB over Matt Flynn in Week 1. Having a weapon like Pryor in the backfield instead of Flynn could help Darren McFadden find more room to run, even if it doesn't do anything for the value of Oakland's receivers.
Terrelle Pryor, QB8/25/2013 10:09:00 PM
Description: Terrelle Pryor is now the favorite to win Oakland's starting quarterback job. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Matt Flynn just can't catch a break can he? First he has to sit on the bench behind Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. Then he signs a deal with Seattle, only to watch from the sidelines while Russell Wilson leads the team to the playoffs. And then when it finally looks like he might be the starter, here goes Pryor pulling the rug out from underneath him. Sitting on the bench can't be that bad though when you're making almost $6 million a year.
Josh Cribbs, WR8/25/2013 9:01:00 PM
Description: The Raiders cut wideout Josh Cribbs on Sunday.
Insight: The Pro Bowl return specialist appears to be nearing the end of his career. Even if Cribbs had made Oakland's final 53-man roster, he wouldn't have been a fantasy asset.
Matt Flynn, QB8/25/2013 4:22:00 PM
Description: Raiders coach Dennis Allen said QB Matt Flynn is once again dealing with tendinitis in his right arm and will need some rest, according to Vic Tafur of SFGate.com.
Insight: Flynn is also on the verge of losing his starting job for the second straight preseason, this time to Terrelle Pryor. Either, way fantasy owners shouldn't draft anyone tied to this Raiders passing game. Darren McFadden is also a risky pick given his injury history and Oakland's suspect offensive line.
Matt Flynn, QB8/24/2013 11:02:00 AM
Description: Oakland starter Matt Flynn has struggled in the exhibition season and could lose the his spot on the depth chart.
Insight: Flynn could lose a starting spot for the second consecutive season and fantasy owners should think twice before selecting him. Friday night Flynn was 3-for-6 for 19 yards with a pair of interceptions while Pryor was 7-for-9 for 93 yards and a score.
Terrelle Pryor, QB8/24/2013 10:59:00 AM
Description: Oakland quarterback Terrelle Pryor has arguably played better than Matt Flynn and could take over the job at some time this season, possibly as soon as Week 1.
Insight: Matt Flynn could lose a starting spot for the second consecutive season and fantasy owners should think twice before selecting him. Friday night Flynn was 3-for-6 for 19 yards with a pair of interceptions while Pryor was 7-for-9 for 93 yards and a score.
Darren McFadden, RB8/24/2013 10:51:00 AM
Description: Raiders running back Darren McFadden sat out Friday night's game with a shoulder injury.
Insight: McFadden injured ... who would have thought. Coach Dennis Allen called it minor and said that had it been a regular season game he could have played. Still, for a guy who has a history of injury, being hurt in the preseason does not instill confidence.
Rod Streater, WR8/24/2013 10:45:00 AM
Description: Oakland wideout Rod Streater suffered a concussion in Friday night's game against Chicago.
Insight: Streater has been the Raiders' most consistent wideout in training camp and he could become the go-to receiver ahead of the up-and-down Denarius Moore. Streater averaged 70.2 yards per game in Oakland's final five contests last season. He now has two weeks to recover before the season opener September 8th against Indianapolis.
David Ausberry, TE8/17/2013 9:07:00 AM
Description: Oakland Raiders tight end David Ausberry left Friday's exhibition game with as shoulder injury.
Insight: Coach Dennis Allen said it "could potentially be significant." Ausberry is the leading candidate to start, though his fantasy value is minimal at best.
Matt Flynn, QB8/14/2013 5:53:00 PM
Description: According to Vic Tafur of SFGate.com, Raiders coaches have "accepted" that quarterback Matt Flynn is not going to have success throwing longer than 25 yards.
Insight: Tafur said that Flynn's limitations throwing deep have been "clear all camp." The team's playbook is heavy on short passes. The Raiders lost top LT Jared Veldheer to a torn triceps Wednesday, so things are looking way down for this offense.
Jared Veldheer, OT/C8/14/2013 2:35:00 PM
Description: Oakland Raiders starting left tackle Jared Veldheer has suffered a torn triceps which will require surgery, according to the Raiders twitter feed.
Insight: Alex Barron is the likely candidate to take over until Veldheer returns, but his history of penalties and sacks makes this a big blow to the Oakland offense.
Sebastian Janikowski, K8/2/2013 9:57:00 PM
Description: Sebastian Janikowski has agreed to a four-year, $15.2 million extension with the Raiders. SOURCE: Tom Pelissero, USA Today
Insight: Janikowski was successful on 91.2 percent of his field goal attempts last season, his highest success rate in 13 NFL seasons. As far as fantasy kickers go, he's one of the best.
Matt Flynn, QB7/31/2013 3:36:00 PM
Description: According to the Associated Press, Matt Flynn has solidified his role as starting quarterback so far in training camp.
Insight: Flynn signed with Seattle last year, where the starting job also was his to lose, and he lost it to Russell Wilson. However, rookie Tyler Wilson and Terrelle Pryor don't offer the same level of competition for Flynn in Oakland. However, he's a long shot to produce anything of value to fantasy owners based on the Raiders' personnel this season.
Rod Streater, WR7/29/2013 6:45:00 PM
Description: According to the Oakland Tribune, Rod Streater has been the Raiders' most consistent receiver in training camp.
Insight: The Tribune suggests that Streater could become quarterback Matt Flynn's go-to receiver because he's the only receiver the team can rely on to catch the ball consistently. Streater, who went undrafted out of Temple, averaged 70.2 yards per game in the final five contests last season.
