Description: Baltimore righthander Bud Norris could be asked to close next season. SOURCE: Eduardo A. Encina, Baltimore Sun
Insight: The O's traded closer Jim Johnson to Oakland earlier this week. Norris would have more fantasy value as a ninth inning man than he would as a starter but it's probably not going to happen. Tommy Hunter throws harder and has better stuff than Norris. Plus, the O's need Norris in the rotation now that Scott Feldman has signed with Houston.

Description: According to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, Bud Norris is the likely starter for the Orioles' game Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Insight: Jason Hammel is the other option being considered. Norris has been dealing with some elbow soreness and hasn't started since Sept. 8, though he was forced into action for 2 1/3 innings Friday in an 18-inning game against the Rays.

Description: O's righthander Bud Norris was charged with the loss Friday against Tampa Bay.
Insight: The game ended at 2:05 in the morning. Norris (2 1/3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 K's, 2 BB) was supposed to start Saturday but now that's obviously not going to happen. With Baltimore's bullpen running on fumes after Friday's 18-inning marathon, the O's need a huge peformance from Miguel Gonzalez (10-7, 3.92 ERA) on Saturday.

Description: Orioles newly-acquired starter Bud Norris is 2-0 with his new team after giving up just five hits and one run in six innings on Tuesday night (2.25 ERA, 1.083 WHIP).
Insight: It's amazing what a more relaxed pitcher can do. Knowing he has the Orioles' No. 4 offense (4.70 rpg) and great defense (34 errors - fewest in the majors) behind him, makes it much easier to pitch. He should continue to thrive in Baltimore.

Insight: Matt Garza is the team's top priority but if that doesn't work out, Norris wouldn't be a bad alternative. The Houston ace is 6-8 with a 3.63 ERA in 19 starts this season.

Description: Astros starter Bud Norris' WHIP is a little high at 1.37, but he is 6-7 with a 3.22 ERA.

His line-drive rate is around the league average, but he has been unlucky with a .315 BABIP. A trade to a contender would surely raise his fantasy value even more.

Insight: Norris had a 1.96 ERA and 1.09 WHIP after three starts, so he's worth holding onto for another turn or two to see if he can get regain his composure. Norris lasted one out longer than Erik Bedard, who gave up six runs in 1/3 of an inning Tuesday night.
