Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) -
For most, Week 17 is the time to root your favorite team into the playoffs, as the fantasy season ended last Monday night. For the rest, it likely came down to the final plays in the final game in Dallas. Good luck to all those who continue on, playing in one of the many playoff fantasy drafts.
Drew Brees, New Orleans - Brees and the Saints came out of the box on fire and made sure Tampa Bay had no chance to pull an upset. The Saints signal caller threw four first-half touchdown passes and ran for a fifth score early in the fourth quarter to clinch his team's playoff berth and his spot on this week's list. He was nearly perfect, going 24-of-31 for 381 yards with a 157.4 QB rating.
Peyton Manning, Denver - Manning didn't even play after half-time, but did enough in the first 30 minutes to put him name on this page and in the record books. He set the single-season passing mark (5.477 yards) with his final pass of the first-half, which was also his fourth touchdown of the day.
Running backs -
Matt Forte, Chicago - Don't blame the Bears loss or your fantasy problems on Forte. He played like a superstar, scoring three times and accumulating 157 yards in offense and 36 fantasy points.
LeGarrette Blount, New England - Blount wasn't a popular name on draft day, buried far down the Pats' depth chart. But by season's end he worked his way into a major role and Sunday rushed for 189 yards and two scores. He also was busy on special teams, so if those yards counted in your league he totaled 334 yards.
Wide Receivers -
Demaryius Thomas, Denver - Like Manning, Thomas didn't do anything after the break, but his six receptions for 113 yards and two scores gave fantasy owners 31 fantasy points. He finished the season on a roll with 745 yards and eight touchdown catches over the final eight games.
Anquan Boldin, San Francisco - Boldin's game hasn't suffered much from the return of Michael Crabtree to the 49ers lineup. Sunday was his best performance since opening day as he caught nine balls for 149 yards and a score worth 28 fantasy points.
Tight End -
Jason Witten, Dallas - Witten was a busy man Sunday night, catching 12 of 16 targets for 135 yards to lead a mediocre group.
Jimmy Graham, New Orleans - Graham was the best tight end in the NFL this season, but his second half was a bit disappointing given his early-season production. Sunday he caught five balls for 71 yards and a touchdown. Still, you can't complain about his season-long totals - 86 receptions for 1,215 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Stephen Gostkowski, New England - Despite a heavy rainstorm throughout the game, Gostkowski went 4-of-4 on field goal attempts to lead the position.
New York Giants - The Giants defense turned the ball over four times and sacked Kirk Cousins three times in a 20-6 victory over rival Washington. It was the fewest points they allowed all season.
And the winner of the TSN Fantasy Player of the Week Award is ... New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees. The only thing Brees lost on Sunday was his single- season passing record (to Manning). His 37 fantasy points was the best performance in Week 17 and he won the award for the second time this season and sixth time since 2009.
