Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
Pitbull reworked (somewhat lazily, but whatever) the lyrics for his song "Timber" for the NBA Playoffs, and Major League Baseball might want to consider getting him to do the same for it.
He'll have to change the Kesha-sung chorus from "It's going down, I'm yelling Timber," to "They're going down, I'm yelling Timber," because unlike the NBA version, Kesha won't be referring to the action that's taking place on the court. She'll be referring to the players.
Three more significant fantasy assets went on the disabled list this weekend.
Let's see who will be missing from lineups for at least the next 15 days.
Jose Abreu, 1B, Chicago White Sox
The injury: Left ankle inflammation
Outlook: Abreu should be back after a minimum stay on the 15-day disabled list.
Replacement: Paul Konerko
Fantasy options: Konerko will see more playing time with Abreu out, but fantasy owners shouldn't be running to the free-agent wire to grab the 38- year-old. He hit .244 with 12 homers in 467 at-bats last season and is 10- for-48 (.208) with one home run this year. Abreu's 15 home runs and 42 RBI will be impossible to replace, but to soften the blow there are some widely available players to consider. Strikeout-prone but powerful corner infielder Juan Francisco has hit seven homers in just 85 at-bats with the Toronto Blue Jays this year, and teammate Adam Lind is hitting .313 with a .913 OPS but is owned in just 31 percent of Yahoo! leagues because he was on the disabled list for three weeks. Los Angeles Angels 24-year-old old C.J. Cron, a 2011 first- round pick, has batted .342 with two home runs and a .938 OPS in his first 38 at-bats in the majors. If you're in an extremely deep league and are looking for an unconventional route, the Pittsburgh Pirates first-base platoon of Gaby Sanchez and Ike Davis has combined to go 27-for-78 (.346) with nine doubles, a homer, six RBI and 14 runs in May.
Gio Gonzalez, SP, Washington Nationals
The injury: Left shoulder inflammation
Outlook: Nats GM Mike Rizzo said he is "not overly concerned" about the injury but won't know for sure until the MRI results come back, according to Mark Zuckerman of csnwashington.com. The team had to place Gonzalez on the disabled list prior to getting the results because he wasn't going to be available for a while due to the dye injected into his body for the test.
Replacement: Blake Treinen (likely)
Fantasy options: In 34 2/3 innings between Triple-A and the majors this season, Treinen has recorded a 1.56 ERA and a 26/7 K/BB, so he could be an option in NL-only leagues. Pitchers who are available in at least 60 percent of leagues include (in order of desirability) Drew Hutchison, Dallas Keuchel, Josh Beckett, Jon Niese, Drew Pomeranz, Phil Hughes, Mike Leake, Trevor Bauer, Tanner Roark, Tom Koehler, Jason Vargas and Scott Feldman.
Andrew Cashner, SP, San Diego Padres
The injury: Right elbow soreness
Outlook: Cashner's injury is the most worrisome of these three, especially because we've seen a rash of Tommy John surgeries this year. He'll undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine what's wrong with his elbow. Padres GM Josh Byrnes sounded cautiously optimistic because Cashner was throwing his usual velocity and had good stuff in his last start.
