Description: Timberwolves rookie guard Zach LaVine sure finished the season strong with 19 points, 13 assists and five rebounds in the season finale on Wednesday.
Insight: Besides win the slam dunk contest, LaVine didn't do much until the middle of March. In April, LaVine averaged 21.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 5.7 apg and 1.7 3-pointers per game while shooting 48.3 percent. Fantasy owners should not forget about this hot finish when they go to draft their teams next season.
Description: Timberwolves rookie guard Zach LaVine hit six 3-pointers in the loss to the Warriors on Saturday.
Insight: LaVine is proving his 15 minutes of fame didn't expire at the slam dunk contest. He shot 13-for-21 on Saturday, including 6-of-10 from downtown, on his way to a career-high 37 points. He also had nine rebounds, four assists and was 5-for-5 at the line. LaVine is a great add in standard leagues for the last four days of the season.
Description: Minnesota forward Anthony Bennett is doubtful for Saturday's game against Golden State with a sprained ankle.
Insight: Bennett has missed the past four games, but the Timberwolves have a lot of guys missing up front, so its hard to predict who will shine. Kevin Garnett, Nikola Pekovic and Gorgui Dieng are also hurting.
Description: Something has clicked with Timberwolves rookie guard Zach LaVine as he continued to play very well on Tuesday versus the Kings.
Insight: LaVine had 21 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and a steal in the loss to the Kings. This was LaVine's first double-double of the season. In the last 13 games, LaVine has scored at least 11 points in 12 of those games. He is averaging 18.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 5.2 apg in the last five games, so owners would be wise to pick him up for the final week.
Description: Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin had a game-high 37 points in the loss to the Kings on Tuesday.
Insight: Martin, Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine had a combined to score 84 points, but the rest of the team only had 27 points as they lost, 116-111. Martin was 13-for-31 from the field and 8-of-11 at the line with eight assists, five rebounds and one steal.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins scored 22 points in the loss to the Magic on Friday.
Insight: Wiggins doesn't consistenly give fantasy owners much besides scoring, but he has scored plenty in the last five games, averaging 23.0 ppg. Over that stretch, he has shot 43.0 percent from the field and 82.1 percent at the line.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio is questionable for Friday versus Orlando.
Insight: Rubio is still nursing a sprained ankle, and at this point, we are curious as to why the Timberwolves aren't just shutting him down. Even if he gets on the court he would likely be too limited for fantasy owners.
Description: Timberwolves guard Gary Neal (ankle) is questionable for Friday versus Orlando.
Insight: Neal is averaging 10.0 ppg this season, but hasn't played since mar 22. Backups Zach LaVine and Chase Budinger will continue to see a lot of playing time, unless Ricky Rubio makes a surprise return.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins had a game-high 25 points in the loss to the Raptors.
Insight: Wiggins shot 8-for-20 from the field and 9-of-10 at the line. He also had five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal. Wiggins is ending the season on a high note as he has averaged 24.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg and 3.4 apg in the last five games.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will not play on Wednesday versus the Raptors.
Insight: Rubio is still nursing a sprained ankle, and at this point, we are curious as to why the Timberwolves aren't just shutting him down. Zach LaVine will once again get all the minutes at point guard.
Description: Timberwolves rookie point guard Zach LaVine scored a team-high 21 points during Monday's loss versus Utah.
Insight: LaVine shot 7-of-19 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line, and also managed six dimes, five boards, one 3-pointer, one steal, one block, and two turnovers. He needs to be in all lineups with Ricky Rubio sidelined.
Description: Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin (hamstring) did not play on Sunday and is questionable to play against the Jazz on Monday.
Insight: Martin is hopeful to return for this week of games, but he'll likely be a game-time decision. he's averaging 20.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.2 apg when he does play, so is certainly a viable fantasy option.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio did not play on Sunday versus the Pelicans and is listed as questionable for Monday against Utah.
Insight: Rubio has missed the past six games so owners should already have a backup plan in place. Zach LaVine has six straight games posting double-digit points and has averaged 4.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds during that span.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins scored a team-high 20 points during Sunday's loss to the Pelicans.
Insight: Wiggins shot 6-of-15 from the field and 8-of-9 from the line, and also chipped in six rebounds, two assists, and five turnovers. He is still the favorite to take home the Rookie of the Year Award.
Description: Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin (hamstring) did not play on Wednesday night and has been downgraded to out for Friday night as well.
Insight: He's dealing with a strained left hamstring and says he should be ready in about a week. Chase Budinger will likely start in Martin's place, and should make for an intriguing daily option after posting 22 points against the Lakers.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will not play on Monday versus the Jazz.
Insight: With Rubio sitting out this game, he has missed four of the last five games with his ankle injury. It doesn't sound like Minnesota is going to rush him back as they try and move closer to the best lottery pick. Rubio can be dropped in standard leagues.
Description: Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng led Minnesota with 16 ponts on Sunday versus the Hornets.
Insight: No one stood out statistically for Minnesota, so Dieng was probably the best fantasy player for the Timberwolves. He was 5-of-8 from the field with eight rebounds, one assist and a block. He was also 6-for-6 at the line.
Description: Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng had a very efficient fantasy night versus the Knicks.
Insight: Dieng was 9-of-10 from the field on his way to 19 points and also had 11 rebounds. Additionally, Dieng had six blocks, two steals and an assist. Dieng is becoming a must-start as he has been filling the stat sheet very nicely in the last five games.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin led Minnesota with 22 points in the, 95-92, overtime victory over the Knicks on Thursday.
Insight: Martin played 44 minutes, shooting 8-for-26 from the field. He didn't do much else with just two rebounds. Martin has been very good lately, averaging 23.0 ppg in the last five games and normally he does more than just score.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin tied a season-high 37 points versus the Raptors on Wednesday.
Insight: Martin was 14-for-28 from the field, hitting five 3-pointers on Wednesday. He also had seven rebounds, one block and one steal. Martin has scored 21.8 ppg in the last five games and 30 ppg in the last two games.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will play on Wednesday versus the Raptors according to CBS Sports.
Insight: Rubio has missed the last two games probably partially due to the Timberwolves playing him too many minutes in the prior games. Rubio will likely play 28-34 minutes on Wednesday. With Rubio back, though, Zach LaVine is irrelevant.
Description: Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng recorded a double-double during Friday's loss to the Thunder.
Insight: He had 20 points and 14 boards, along with three assists, two steals, three blocks, and five turnovers. Dieng is worthy of a roster spot, but expect his production to be somewhat inconsistent.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins scored a team-high 25 points in the loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday.
Insight: Wiggins was 10-of-22 from the field and hit five 3-pointers. He also had four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Wiggins is getting better as the season goes. He is averaging 21.6 ppg in the last five games.
Description: Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett will start on Saturday versus the Grizzlies.
Insight: Garnett might as well be considered day-to-day for the rest of the season. At his age and playing for a team in rebuild mode, it can't be surprised if he doesn't play in random games. Garnett cannot be counted on in standard leagues.
Description: Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett started and played 19 minutes in his return on Wednesday night.
Insight: He finished with just five points, eight boards, two assists, one steal, and two blocks. Garnett was given an emotional tribute before being announced with the starters. It is nice to see him back in Minnesota.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins had 30 points in the, 113-102, loss to the Rockets on Monday.
Insight: James Harden stole the show with a triple-double, but Wiggins turned in a solid fantasy game in his own right. He was 12-for-24, hit one 3-pointer and 5-for-5 at the line. He also had seven rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal.
Description: Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad will undergo surgery on his finger and miss the rest of the season.
Insight: This is a tough blow for Muhammad, who showed signs of improvement this season, averaging 13.5 ppg and 4.1 rpg. He was able to play on Friday, which apparently was not a good idea. Muhammad should be ready to go for training camp.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin was 10-for-16 from the field on Friday on his way to 28 points.
Insight: Minnesota picked up a big victory, beating Phoenix, 111-109. Martin also had six rebounds, two assists and a steal while hitting on 7-of-9 at the line. Martin is averaging 20.2 ppg this season.
Description: 76ers forward Luc Mbah a Moute had 16 points and 10 rebounds in Friday's loss versus the Pacers.
Insight: Philadelphia is taking tanking to a whole new level as they traded away Michael Carter-Williams on Thursday. Isaiah Canaan will see a lot of opportunities, but with absolutely no talent, Mbah a Moute should see plenty of chances to score as well.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio sat out Sunday, but is expected to return Monday versus Atlanta.
Insight: The day off was the team being conservative after he missed so much time. He's averaging 10.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 8.5 apg, 1.4 spg in eight games this season and is a viable fantasy option even against the tough, defensive-minded Hawks.
Description: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic led the team with 29 points as Minnesota defeated Detroit, 112-101.
Insight: Pekovic was 9-of-16 from the field and hit 11-for-12 from the line. Unfortunately, Pekovic didn't do much else on Sunday with just three rebounds, two steals and an assist. The scoring spike is nice, but Pekovic has just 10 rebounds in the last three games combined.
Description: Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad won't play Saturday, but is expected to return Monday, according to head coach Flip Saunders.
Insight: Muhammad had been playing pretty well, averaging 13.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.2 apg and 15.6 ppg in 13 starts, but with the return of Kevin Martin and Ricky Rubio and the solid play of Andrew Wiggins, Muhammad might not see as much playing time as earlier this season. Take a wait and see approach.
Description: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic said his ankle is sore after games and will likely be that way for the rest of the season, according to Phil Ervin of FOX Sports North.
Insight: Pekovic is playing solid basketball despite the sore ankle (13.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.3 apg since returning from the injury) so fantasy owners must keep playing him. Expect him to miss a few games down the stretch.
Description: Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad won't play Wednesday, but is hoping to return Friday against Memphis.
Insight: Muhammad had been playing pretty well, averaging 13.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.2 apg and 15.6 ppg in 13 starts, but with the return of Kevin Martin and Ricky Rubio and the play of Andrew Wiggins, Muhammad might not see as much playing time as earlier this season.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio played 21 minutes and scored 10 points in his first action in nearly three months.
Insight: Rubio was 4-of-9 and went 2-for-2 at the line. He missed his only 3-point attempt. Rubio also had four assists, three rebounds and three turnovers. Expect the Timberwolves to continue to bring him along slowly.
Description: Timberwolves guards Mo Williams will play on Monday versus the Mavericks.
Insight: Williams, however, will see a reduction in minutes as Ricky Rubio returns to the starting lineup for the Timberwolves. Once Zach LaVine returns from his injury, Williams will have very little fantasy value left.
Description: Timberwolves rookie point guard Zach LaVine left Friday's game with a left ankle sprain and is questionable to return according to RotoWorld.
Insight: LaVine walked under his own power, but he hobbled to the locker room. Lorenzo Brown will play in LaVine's place since Mo Williams is also out. LaVine had five points, three rebounds, three assists, a steal and one 3-pointer in 22 minutes before leaving.
Description: Timberwolves rookie point guard Zach LaVine will start again on Friday.
Insight: LaVine was 7-of-9 from the field, including 1-for-1 from the 3-point line, on his way to 17 points on Wednesday. He was also 2-for-2 at the free-throw line. He might be worth the gamble again on Friday to see if he can keep it going.
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams will not play versus the 76ers due to personal reasons.
Insight: That means Zach LaVine will start at point guard. LaVine scored 17 points, going 7-of-9 from the field, with six assists, four rebounds and three steals, so it might not be a bad idea to roll with him again.
Description: Timberwolves rookie point guard Zach LaVine had a great shooting night versus the Celtics.
Insight: LaVine was 7-of-9 from the field, including 1-for-1 from the 3-point line. He was also 2-for-2 at the free-throw line. Perhaps he was excited to hear he will be participating in the slam dunk contest.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin came off the bench and scored a game-high 21 points.
Insight: This is great news considering this was Martin's first game since November. Martin was 7-of-18 from the field, including 2-for-6 at the 3-point line. Martin also had four rebounds and an assist.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin (wrist surgery) is expected to play Wednesday against the Celtics.
Insight: He is listed as questionable, so there is no guarantee, but Martin is expected to give it a go. He should eventually regain his starting role, which would push Andrew Wiggins to small forward.
Description: Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng grabbed 18 rebounds in a loss Monday versus Oklahoma City.
Insight: The good news for fantasy owners is that Dieng continues to start even with Nikola Pekovic back with the starters as well. Dieng also had six points, two assists, three blocks, one steal, and two turnovers in 36 minutes of action. He is still worthy of a roster spot.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin (wrist surgery) has been downgraded to out for Monday's game, according to the team's site.
Insight: He's been listed as questionable for about a week and has yet to play a game so this shouldn't be a big surprise. Robbie Hummel had been getting the time, but he too is injured. Andrew Wiggins, Mo Williams and Thaddeus Young will get all the minutes they can handle.
Description: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic played a season-high 36 minutes in his return to the starting lineup on Sunday.
Insight: Pekovic finished with 15 points, three rebounds and an assist. It is safe to put Pekovic back into the lineup as he was very impressive in his first start since returning from his ankle injury.
Description: Timberwolves rookie point guard Zach LaVine missed Saturday's practice with an elbow injury and is questionable for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: Mo Williams has been playing most of the point guard minutes anyway and LaVine is not a fantasy option. Williams will be a fantasy option only until Ricky Rubio is ready to play and that should be pretty soon.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin (wrist surgery) was a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against Dallas (he did not play) and is questionable for Friday's game against New Orleans.
Insight: He's been gone since Nov. 19, so it would not be surprising to see him start with a minutes limit. He averaged 20.4 ppg. 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg for the first nine games this season.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will not play on Wednesday versus the Mavericks.
Insight: Rubio has been doing contact drills in practice and hopes to return late in January. Being that it's already the 21st, we are guessing that means next week. Mo Williams will continue to have the greatest spike in fantasy value as long as Rubio is out.
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams scored a career-high 52 points during Tuesday's win against the Pacers.
Insight: No, that is not a misprint. Williams was unconscious, going 19-of-33 from the field, 8-of-9 from the line, and 6-of-11 from deep. He also had seven assists, four boards, and three turnovers. It was the game of Williams' life.
Description: Timberwolves forward Luc Mbah a Moute is questionable for Friday's game against Brooklyn with turf toe.
Insight: Mbah a Moute has missed two straight games with the injury, but had scored double-digits in his previous two outings. Robert Covington would get the start, though he's coming off a horrible 1-for-11 shooting night.
Description: Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng recorded a double-double versus the Nuggets on Monday.
Insight: Dieng scored 22 points, shooting 8-for-12, and grabbed 12 rebounds. He also shot 6-for-6 at the line. Dieng is a decent addition for any fantasy owner looking for shooting percentage and rebounding.
Description: Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad scored a team-high 30 points against the Jazz.
Insight: Muhammad tends to have these scoring bursts on occasion. He scored 28 points on Dec. 14 and 26 points on Dec. 19. He also scored 28 points in a game back in November, but 30 points is a season-high. We still, however, don't see Muhammad repeating Tuesday's performance enough to become fantasy relevant. His 5-for-6 from the 3-point line led to the season-high and that will not be repeated routinely.
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young led the team in scoring on Saturday.
Insight: That's not saying much as Young scored 17 points and the Timberwolves lost, 110-97, to the Warriors. Young was efficient, though, shooting 63.6 percent from the field and had six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins had a big night with 22 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks..
Insight: Wiggins has put together two good games in a row, shooting 50 percent from the field which is well above his season's 39.7 average. Maybe his game is starting to catch up with his physical tools.
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young led the team with 23 points and added six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
Insight: Young had a solid all-around fantasy day even his free-throw shooting (3-of-4). He's just a bit too inconsistent for fantasy owners as his last five scoring totals indicate (29, 13, 8, 13, 23).
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic (wrist, ankle) hasn't played since Nov. 15.
Insight: Coach Flip Saunders gave us a four-week timetable in early December, so he should be returning in early January. Gorgui Dieng had a 20-10 game Tuesday, but is averaging 9.6 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 19 starts this season.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins had a big night versus the team who drafted him.
Insight: Wiggins scored 27 points, shooting over 56 percent and making all three 3-pointer attempts versus the Cavaliers. That was nice to see because Wiggins did not reach double digits in scoring in any of the last three games.
Description: Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad scored a team-high 26 points during Friday's loss to the Celtics.
Insight: He was 11-of-15 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the line. Muhammad also had five assists, five rebounds, two 3-pointers, and two turnovers. He needs to be owned everywhere with Corey Brewer being shipped to Houston.
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young led the team with 29 points, shooting a great 63.2 percent from the floor on Tuesday.
Insight: Young had a great all-around fantasy day except for his free-throw shooting. Young had four rebounds, two assists and two steals to go with his 29 points, but he shot 5-of-12 from the line. Even though free-throw percentage isn't very good this season (61.7 percent), he is rarely below 50 percent.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins led the team with 21 points on Tuesday.
Insight: That is the most points Wiggins has scored since Nov. 22 when he had 29. Wiggins shot 8-of-19 from the field and added six rebounds and four assists. All of those numbers are well above his season averages.
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams will miss Monday's game against Golden State with a sore back.
Insight: Zach LaVine will start again at point guard. He posted a 22-point, 10-rebound game Saturday after a 17-point, six-rebound, four-assist Friday. He's playing much better of late and has fantasy value as a starter.
Description: Timberwolves rookie Shabazz Muhammad scored 20 points off the bench during Saturday's loss against San Antonio.
Insight: He did so on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, along with going 5-of-9 from the line. Muhammad also chipped in three rebounds and one 3-pointer. He is averaging 10.8 ppg and 3.4 rpg, making him a poor option.
Description: Timberwolves rookie point guard Zach LaVine recorded his first career double-double during Saturday's loss to the Spurs.
Insight: He had 22 points and 10 assists, along with three rebounds, two 3-pointers, two steals, and two turnovers. LaVine has started the past two games with Mo Williams sidelined, so it will be interesting to see if Minnesota rides the hot hand.
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams has a sore back and will not play Friday night,
Insight: Williams had 14 points in a loss to the Sixers (that's the first time I've written that statement this season) and leaves Zach LeVone as the only point guard on the roster. Corey brewer is likely to spend time handling the ball.
Description: Timberwolves coach Flip Sainders confirmed to ESPN point guard Ricky Rubio will not return until January.
Insight: Rubio was hoping to play the day after Christmas, but that won't happen according to this latest report. Mo Williams and Zach LaVine will continue to be the point guards for Minnesota until at least January.
Description: The news is not good for Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic (wrist, ankle).
Insight: His Monday evaluation came back and according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune he is "at least" 7-10 days away from playing. Gorgui Dieng gets his minutes and can give you plenty of rebounding, but is an inconsistent scorer.
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic (multiple health issues) is supposed to be re-evaluated this week which which means he's unlikely to go Monday.
Insight: He has not played since Nov. 15 due to a wrist, ankle and personal issues. He's averaging 11.9 ppg, 8.1 rpg this season. Gorgui Dieng gets his minutes and can give you plenty of rebounding, but is an inconsistent scorer.
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams posted a double-double in Friday's win against the Lakers.
Insight: He shot 8-of-13 from the field, 3-of-3 from the line, and 6-of-8 from deep for 25 points, 11 assists, two steals, one rebound, and three turnovers. Williams will continue to hold value until Ricky Rubio returns.
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams is questionable for Friday's game against the LA Clippers due to illness.
Insight: Williams has been sick for several days, so its a possibility rookie Zach LaVine gets another start on Friday. Williams had four consecutive double-digit scoring games before missing Wednesday's contest.
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic is out for Friday's game against the LA Clippers while dealing with multiple health issues
Insight: He has not played since Nov. 15 due to a wrist, ankle and personal issues. He's averaging 11.9 ppg, 8.1 rpg this season, so whenever he returns he should go right back into the starting lineup. Gorgui Dieng gets his minutes.
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young practiced Monday and is on pace to return for Wednesday's game
Insight: Young missed time due to the passing of his mother. He's seeing almost 32 mpg and averaging 14.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.6 spg. That's not quite as good as last season, but its a new team and it takes time to adapt.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin scored 37 points on Wednesday as Minnesota killed New York, 115-99.
Insight: Martin shot 14-of-20 from the field on his way to scoring a season-high 37 points. He was also 7-for-11 from the 3-point line as Minnesota shot well over 60 percent from downtown in the first half. The Timberwolves finished 11-for-22 from behind the arc.
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams will start on Wednesday against the Knicks.
Insight: Williams takes over for Zach LaVine, who has started the last four games, all losses, for Minnesota. The Timberwolves are looking for someone to step up at point guard since Ricky Rubio will be out for several weeks.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Zach LaVine will start at point guard while Ricky Rubio is out with his ankle injury according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Insight: This is somewhat of a surprise because the rookie LaVine was picked over veteran Mo Williams for the starting role. Clearly, Minnesota is not interested in winning now. If there is a guy owners are willing to cut, taking a risk on LaVine is not a bad idea.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins shot 3-of-9 from the field in Saturday's loss to the Heat.
Insight: He was 4-of-5 from the line, and had 10 points, two assists, one rebound, and one turnover. Wiggins is now averaging 9.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg, and 1.2 spg, and will continue to be inconsistent, especially early on.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will be out indefinitely due to a severe ankle sprain.
Insight: The estimated recovery time is 7-to-8 weeks, which hurts owners a ton. Surprisingly Zach LaVine is starting on Saturday, but we still like Mo Williams as a waiver pickup, as he should still see 25-30 minutes per game.
Description: X-rays on Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio's ankle were negative according to Bleacher Report.
Insight: That is good news but coach Flip Saunders said the point guard is still expected to miss a good amount of time. He looks like the injury Rubio suffered on Friday was a high ankle sprain. This usually keeps players out for multiple weeks, which means fire up Mo Williams in standard fantasy leagues.
Description: Minnesota guard Mo Williams started the second half of Friday's game against the Magic.
Insight: Starting point guard Ricky Rubio left with an ankle sprain in the first half, and it looked serious. Williams should get more minutes with Rubio out, which makes Williams a likely addition to a lot of fantasy teams.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio left Friday's game against the Magic with an ankle injury.
Insight: Rubio rolled his ankle while driving the lane for a layup. It looked like it could be a serious ankle sprain, but there are no official reports just yet. He had to be helped to the locker room. UPDATE: The Timberwolves are calling Rubio's injury an ankle sprain, and the point guard needs an X-ray.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins had the best game of his young NBA career on Wednesday.
Insight: Wiggins scored 17 points against the Nets, shooting 7-for-12 from the field and making his one 3-point attempt. He shot 2-for-4 from the line as well. Before Wednesday, Wiggins' previous career-high in points was eight.
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young was tested for a concussion after colliding with Jimmy Butler in Saturday's game.
Insight: Young passed all his tests and should be ready to go. He's going to see a lot of minutes this season and should be a solid fantasy option. He's currently averaging 17.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.7 spg.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin dropped 33 points to lead all scorers in Saturday's Bulls-Timberwolves game, but it wasn't enough for Minnesota.
Insight: Martin made 9-of-14 shots, including four 3-pointers, and all 11 free throws. He also had seven rebounds and two assists. Martin's problem has never been producing, it's always been staying on the court. If he can stay healthy, Martin must be owned in all standard fantasy leagues.
Description: Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love played well in the "Chris Bosh" role for his new team.
Insight: He had 19 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and made three 3-pointers. Expect a double-double from Love almost everytime out, but the 26.1 ppg from last season is likely to take a significant hit as we saw in Game 1.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins continued his slow start to the season.
Insight: After having only six points on opening night, Wiggins followed that performance with eight more points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. There will be growing pains for the rookie, especially early on.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins was a bit on the dull side in his NBA debut, scoring six points, three rebounds an assist and a pair of steals in 19 minutes.
Insight: Wiggins was dealing with a sore back so perhaps he didn't push it. Like most rookies, the first season will be filled with ups and downs and fantasy owners who pick him in non-dynasty leagues should be aware of the inconsistent nature of the selection.
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young looked fantastic in his team debut.
Insight: He was 10-of-18 , including two 3-pointers, for 26 points. Young also chipped in four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. It looks like he is picking up where he left off in Philadelphia, last season.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins practiced yesterday and should be ready for the season opener.
Insight: Wiggins was dealing with a sore back. Like most rookies, the first season will be filled with ups and downs and fantasy owners who pick him in non-dynasty leagues should be aware of the inconsistent nature of the selection.
Description: Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love is still a fantasy stud this season.
Insight: It can be argued that Love is no longer a top-five pick, but his ability to grab rebounds, score and shoot a high percentage makes him the top center in fantasy. He will take fewer shots this season with a better team, but his field goal percentage should go up. Some experts have speculated his rebound numbers could go down with LeBron James, but we doubt that. Cleveland traded for Love to have a dominanting presence on the boards to help King James.
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins looks like he will begin the season coming off the bench.
Insight: With Kevin Martin locked in as the starting shooting guard, Wiggins may need to prove he can play the small forward position as well, for owners to trust him on their fantasy teams. He is currently projected to go in the ninth round, but there are questions to how much playing rtime he is going to receive. We still love this kid's potential, but drafting him in the ninth round may be a little too rich for our taste.
Description: Minnesota guard Mo Williams will open up the season as Ricky Rubio's backup.
Insight: He played 24.8 minutes per game last season in Portland, his lowest average since his rookie season. In that time Williams averaged 9.7 points per game, 4.3 assists per game, and made 1.1 three-pointers per game. With Williams competing for playing time with fellow backup J.J. Barea, owners should target him late in drafts, or even leave him undrafted.
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio needs to take a step forward during his fourth NBA season.
Insight: He just has not broken out like many people have expected him to do. Rubio averaged 9.5 points per game, 8.6 assists per game, 2.3 steals per game, and shot .381 from the field last season. While his assist and steal numbers are good, Rubio has a career-average of 2.9 turnovers per game, and along with a poor field goal percentage, his current ADP in the late fourth round, is a little high for our liking.
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin continues to be an underrated player heading into the season.
Insight: He averaged 19.1 points per game, 1.0 steals per game, and made 1.7 three-pointers per game last season. Martin have a chance to increase those numbers this year, with no Kevin Love, and as a result owners should target him starting in the seventh round.
Description: Timberwolves small forward Corey Brewer is penciled in as the starting small forward to begin the season.
Insight: He started 81 games for Minnesota last season and put up some solid numbers (12.3 PPG, 1.9 SPG, 48% FG). Brewer does not have anyone pushing him for his starting spot, so he should be able to at least duplicate those numbers. Target him towards the end of your drafts.
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic will look to stay healthy in 2014-15.
Insight: He played only 54 games last season, but was still productive (17.4 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 54% FG). With Kevin Love out of town, Pekovic will be one of the go-to guys for the Timberwolves, and will have a great chance to increase his numbers, all around.
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young will look to be a big-time player during his first year in Minnesota.
Insight: Young had a very nice season in Philadelphia in 2013-14, and will have the opportunity to duplicate his some of his numbers (17.9 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 2.1 SPG) with the Timberwolves. He should be targeted starting in the late fourth round.
Description: Guard Mo Williams had a great performance in a preseason game on Friday night.
Insight: Williams scored 19 points and had six rebounds, seven assists and three steals. He came off the bench in the game, but Flip Saunders has stated Williams could start in the backcourt with Ricky Rubio.
Description: The Timberwolves have acquired Thaddeus Young as part of a three-team trade with Cleveland and Philadelphia.
Insight: Minnesota did a good job to get Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Young for Kevin Love, who made it known that he was leaving in free agency anyway. Young was an underrated fantasy option last season, averaging 17.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 threes, 2.1 steals (third in the NBA) and 0.5 blocks per game. He'll start for the 'Wolves and should be the top offensive option as the team tries to replace Love's 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.
Description: Anthony Bennett, the 2013 No. 1 overall pick, has been traded from the Cavaliers to the Timberwolves.
Insight: The initially rumored version of the three-team trade had Minnesota shipping Bennett to Philadelphia for Thaddeus Young, but the Timberwolves were able to snag Young for just Alexey Shved and Luc Mbah a Moute. Unfortunately, that means Bennett will be behind Young at power forward rather than starting for talent-starved Philadelphia. He should get his fair share of minutes but probably won't have much fantasy value.
Description: The three-team trade between the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers is complete and 2014 No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins is now a member of Minnesota.
Insight: Wiggins' fantasy value gets a nice boost from the trade, as he'll have to carry a much larger offensive burden than he would have had in Cleveland. Minnesota's starting lineup to begin the season will likely include Ricky Rubio, Kevin Martin, Wiggins, Thaddeus Young and Nikola Pekovic.
Description: Cleveland.com reports the Cleveland Cavaliers will officially trade No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins and former No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett in a three-team trade for Kevin Love. The Timberwolves will receive 76ers power forward Thaddeus Young as part of the trade as well. The deal will be finalized at midnight on Saturday after Wiggins officially signs his rookie contract.
Insight: Love's fantasy value takes a slight hit as it is unlikely he can maintain last year's 26.1 points per game average playing alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. But his potential on the offensive and defensive glass playing with the King is tremendous. Combine that with the fact Love had a career high in assists per game last year (4.4), he remains one of the best options at his position. Wiggins and Bennett look to be quality mid-round targets.
Description: Guard Mo Williams has signed with the Timberwolves for one year and $3.75 million.
Insight: Williams was Portland's sixth man last season and averaged 24.8 minutes, 9.7 points, 4.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 74 games. While the 'Wolves roster isn't a finished product at the moment -- Kevin Love and Kevin Martin are on the block -- any trade would bring back players that will start ahead of Williams so he'll be a bench player regardless.

Insight: Cross another one off the list. Cleveland has plenty of assets (the No. 1 pick in tomorrow's draft, Anthony Bennett and Dion Waiters) but Love doesn't have any interest in playing there. Unless Love has a change of heart and decides he'd sign an extension with Cleveland, it's difficult to see this trade happening. Meanwhile ESPN's Chris Broussard said Wednesday there's a 50 percent chance Love gets traded on draft night. Boston, Denver and Golden State seem to have the best chance of landing the three-time All-Star.

Insight: Golden State is hesitant to include Klay Thompson in a trade and that's a deal breaker for Minnesota. The Nuggets and Celtics remain in the running though it's possible the T-Wolves could wait until the trade deadline to swap Love.
Description: There's a growing sense that Boston will land Kevin Love in a draft day deal with Minnesota.
Insight: According to ESPN's Chad Ford, the C's are prepared to offer Minnesota two first-round picks this year, a collection of future No. 1s and the Wolves' choice of either Jared Sullinger or Kelly Olynyk. Ford believes it's the best offer the T-Wolves are going to get. Draft night is a week from Thursday. Stay tuned.

Insight: Love has been linked to the Celtics in trade rumors for quite a while and the interest seems to be mutual. Other teams interested in Love include Chicago, Golden State, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and Sacramento.
Description: According to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski, Boston could trade its first-round pick as part of a deal for Kevin Love.
Insight: It's an interesting idea but if Love really wants to play for a contender Boston probably isn't the right place for him. The Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, Knicks, Rockets, Suns and Warriors are all said to be interested in Love (26.1 ppg, 12.5 rpg in 2013-14) if Minnesota makes him available in a trade this summer.

Insight: If he doesn't get it, Love is prepared to sign elsewhere when he becomes a free agent in 2015. None of this is surprising. Love has spent six seasons in Minnesota and has yet to appear in a playoff game. Trading Love is the best option for Minnesota as well, especially given the very real threat of him leaving as a free agent. Love has shown interest in playing for a number of different teams including the Bulls, Knicks, Lakers, Rockets and Warriors. The Wolves can work on a deal over the summer or they can wait until next year's trade deadline.
