Relief Pitcher Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

Luke Gregerson, RP, HOU3/31/2015 4:50:00 PM
Description: Astros RP Luke Gregerson will open up the season as the team's closer.
Insight: Gregerson could be an underrated option. He had a 2.12 ERA in 72 1/3 innings last season with Oakland.
Aaron Thompson, RP, MIN3/31/2015 10:20:00 AM
Description: Depite pitching well this spring, the Twins sent left-handed reliever Aaron Thompson to Triple-A Rochester.
Insight: Thompson pitched to a 2.16 ERA with a 1.080 WHIP and six strikeouts in 8 1/3 IP. He had little fantasy value.
Drew Storen, RP, WAS3/30/2015 4:32:00 PM
Description: Nationals closer Drew Storen left Monday's game due to a blister on his right foot.
Insight: This is great news, as Storen should need just a couple of days to get back on the mound. He will be ready to roll for Opening Day.
Koji Uehara, RP, BOS3/30/2015 4:20:00 PM
Description: Red Sox closer Koji Uehara (hamstring) is expected to begin the season on the disabled list, according to manager John Farrell.
Insight: He is expected to be ready by some point in April, but it is looking like Edward Mujica will open up the year as Boston's closer.
Aroldis Chapman, RP, CIN3/29/2015 10:03:00 AM
Description: Reds closer Aroldis Chapman struck out the side in his one inning on Saturday versus the Cubs.
Insight: Chapman appears to be in midseason form already, strikout out 16 and walking just three in 11 innings. He will once again be one of the top closers taken in fantasy drafts this season.
Bobby Parnell, RP, NYM3/28/2015 10:07:00 AM
Description: New York reliever Bobby Parnell, returning from Tommy John surgery last April, has moved up his timetable for return and could be ready by mid-Aril, according to an ESPN report.
Insight: His orginial timetable was for a May return. Parnell amassed 22 saves in 2013, but will likely be the setup man for Jenrry Mejia when he's ready to pitch.
Tyler Clippard, RP, OAK3/27/2015 3:59:00 PM
Description: Oakland setup man,Tyler Clippard, will serve as closer until injured Sean Doolittle is ready to return, according to manager Bob Melvin.
Insight: We always expected as much. Clippard should rack up a few saves until Doolittle (shoulder) returns, probably in late April or early May. He had 32 saves in a closing role back in 2012 for the Nationals.
Koji Uehara, RP, BOS3/26/2015 3:53:00 PM
Description: Red Sox closer Koji Uehara (hamstring) will throw on Thursday and should take part in a bullpen session at some point this weekend.
Insight: This will be a big test to determine Uehara's availability for Opening Day. If he is unable to get healthy by the start of the season, Edward Mujica would likely start 2015 as Boston's closer.
David Robertson, RP, CWS3/26/2015 3:48:00 PM
Description: White Sox closer David Robertson is experiencing forearm soreness, according to manager Robin Ventura.
Insight: Hopefully this is the reason for his 7.71 spring ERA. Ventura did not seem concerned however, so we expect Robertson to get back on track for the regular season. Draft him as you normally would.
Sean Doolittle, RP, OAK3/25/2015 3:38:00 PM
Description: Athletics closer Sean Doolittle is expected to begin throwing this week according to MLB.com.
Insight: Doolittle is recovering from a small tear in his rotator cuff. Doolittle should return around the beginning of May.
Dellin Betances, RP, NYY3/25/2015 3:29:00 PM
Description: Yankees reliever Dellin Betances admitted to the New York Post on Tuesday that his velocity is "nowhere near where it should be".
Insight: Betances did get his fastball up to 94 mph on Tuesday, but he was routinely in the mid-to-high 90s during 2014, so he is still expecting to see more velocity. Manager Joe Giradi isn't too concern, saying the velocity should return as Betances pitches more. Betances is the front runner to be the Yankees closer this season, though, New York has not confirmed that yet.
Garrett Richards, RP, ANA3/23/2015 8:47:00 PM
Description: Angels right-hander Garrett Richards threw four shutout innings in a minor league game on Monday.
Insight: Richards is returning from offseason surgery on his patellar tendon in his left knee. Richards threw 53 pitches, struck out three and walked two.
Mario Hollands, RP, PHI3/23/2015 1:03:00 PM
Description: Phillies right-hander Mario Hollands has been diagnosed with a flexor tendon strain, similar to teammate Cliff Lee and may end up needing the same season-ending surgery, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.
Insight: Hollands doesn't have much fantasy value even when healthy. He posted a 4.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 35 Ks in 47 IP last season.
Koji Uehara, RP, BOS3/21/2015 10:08:00 AM
Description: Red Sox closer Koji Uehara (hamstring) played long toss, according to a Boston Globe report.
Insight: It's the first step in his return to the mound. Even if he is not ready for the start of the season, Uehara should be ready to roll soon after and fantasy owners should not reduce his value because of this injury.
Garrett Richards, RP, ANA3/18/2015 4:37:00 PM
Description: Angels right-hander Garrett Richards will pitch in a minor league game on Monday according to the Orange County Register.
Insight: Richards was supposed to pitch in an Angels spring training game on Monday, but the team has decided not to rush him. Richards is expected to be back with Los Angeles by the middle of April.
Garrett Richards, RP, ANA3/18/2015 3:52:00 PM
Description: Angels right-hander Garrett Richards (knee) will make his spring debut next Monday.
Insight: This is fantastic news, as this puts Richards on pace to be ready by mid-April. He holds a ton of potential heading into fantasy drafts.
Koji Uehara, RP, BOS3/18/2015 12:00:00 PM
Description: Red Sox closer Koji Uehara (hamstring) said he expects to be ready for Opening Day, but it is not a gaurantee.
Insight: Even if he is not ready for the start of the season, Uehara should be ready to roll shorty after. Draft him as you normally would.
