Left Field Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

David DeJesus, LF, TAM4/22/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Tampa Bay left fielder David DeJesus broke out of a slump by delivering three hits in Tuesday's win over Minnesota.
Insight: His first inning single ended an 0-for-24 drought. It's a start but DeJesus (.174, 0 HR, 3 RBI) still has a long way to go before we consider him a legitimate fantasy option.
Justin Upton, LF, ATLCold4/22/2014 9:50:00 PM
Description: Braves outfielder Justin Upton has gone 6-for-32 with 19 Ks over his last eight games.
Insight: Upton went down on strikes three times in three at-bats Tuesday against the Marlins and has struck out three times in each of his last three games.
Shin-Soo Choo, LF, TEX4/22/2014 9:16:00 PM
Description: Texas left fielder Shin-Soo Choo does not have a high ankle sprain. SOURCE: MLBlogs
Insight: His MRI came back clean. Choo, who has already been ruled out for Wednesday's series finale, is hoping to play this weekend against Seattle.
Mark Trumbo, LF, ARI4/22/2014 6:53:00 PM
Description: Mark Trumbo's absence from Tuesday's starting lineup is related to a sore left foot. SOURCE: Nick Piecoro, Arizona Republic
Insight: It's unknown if Trumbo is headed for any tests on the injured foot. The Diamondbacks are off to a terrible start (5-17) and losing Trumbo would just be adding insult to injury.
Shin-Soo Choo, LF, TEX4/22/2014 6:38:00 PM
Description: Rangers left fielder Shin-Soo Choo will sit out with an ankle injury Tuesday against Oakland. SOURCE: Jeff Wilson, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Insight: Choo had an MRI today and is still waiting for the results. Michael Choice (.231, 1 HR, 3 RBI) will grab the start in left field on Tuesday.
Daniel Nava, LF, BOS4/22/2014 6:36:00 PM
Description: Boston outfielder Daniel Nava won't be in the lineup Tuesday against New York.
Insight: Nava has had a very poor season offensively (.149, 2 HR, 3 RBI) and is unlikely to be an everyday player when Shane Victorino (strained hamstring) returns from the disabled list later this week.
Mark Trumbo, LF, ARI4/22/2014 6:09:00 PM
Description: Diamondbacks left fielder Mark Trumbo won't be in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs. SOURCE: Diamondbacks on Twitter
Insight: Trumbo has logged the sixth-most at bats in the National League this season and could probably use a night off. His power numbers have been excellent (7 HR, 19 RBI) but he's hitting just .210.
Travis Snider, LF, PIT4/22/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Pirates right fielder Travis Snider has appealed his two-game suspension, according to Tom Singer of mlb.com.
Insight: MLB suspended Snider for his role in Sunday's bench-clearing brawl with the Brewers. He's hitting .250 with three homers, eight RBI and a .722 OPS in 18 games this season.
Brett Gardner, LF, NYY4/22/2014 4:03:00 PM
Description: Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner is not in Tuesday's lineup against Boston ace Jon Lester, according to Bryan Hoch of mlb.com.
Insight: Gardner is just 2-for-11 against Lester in his career. Ichiro Suzuki, who has a .333 career average off Lester, will get the start in left field.
J.D. Martinez, LF, HOU4/22/2014 2:37:00 PM
Description: Former Houston outfielder J.D. Martinez was called up by the Tigers this week and could get a few starts based on his minor league play.
Insight: Martinez batted .308 with 10 homers, 22 RBI and a 1.212 OPS in 17 games for the Toledo Mud Hens. With the Tigers averaging less than four runs per game, they could use a hot bat in the lineup.
Jerry Sands, LF, PIT4/22/2014 2:30:00 PM
Description: Rays minor league outfielder Jerry Sands, is off to a hot start with Triple-A Durham, batting .371 with five homers, 17 RBI and a 1.192 OPS after 18 games.
Insight: Sands dominated Triple-A in 2012 with 26 HR and 107 RBI, but did little in 2013. If David DeJesus continues to hit .119, he could have company in the outfield.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF, COL4/22/2014 11:52:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez has taken Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner deep five times in 33 at-bats. That's the most against any pitcher he's faced.
Insight: Gonzalez (.267, 4 HR, 14 RBI) had been dealing with a knee injury that has him in and out of the lineup, but he's a must start in this favorable matchup.
Starling Marte, LF, PIT4/22/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Pirates left fielder Starling Marte is hitless in seven at-bats versus Red starter Johnny Cueto.
Insight: Marte is batting .259, but has scored 13 runs and stolen seven bases as the Pirates leadoff man. The bad news is that he leads the league in strikeouts (31).
Carl Crawford, LF, LOS4/21/2014 8:28:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles left fielder Carl Crawford will sit out Monday against the Phillies. SOURCE: Dylan Hernandez, Los Angeles Times
Insight: Crawford is hitting .083 against left-handers this season so it makes sense to give him the night off with Cliff Lee (2-2, 4.00 ERA) throwing for Philadelphia. Scott Van Slyke (.333, 2 HR, 4 RBI) is making his sixth start of the year in left field.
Yoenis Cespedes, LF, OAK4/21/2014 8:25:00 PM
Description: Athletics left fielder Yoenis Cespedes won't be available Monday night against Texas. SOURCE: Susan Slusser, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: He bruised his heel yesterday in a win over Houston. Brandon Moss (.267, 2 HR, 15 RBI) will take over for Cespedes in left field.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF, COL4/21/2014 7:56:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is starting Monday against the Giants. SOURCE: Patrick Saunders, Denver Post
Insight: Gonzalez (.282, 4 HR, 14 RBI) had been questionable with a knee injury. He's tied with teammate Troy Tulowitzki for second in the league in runs scored (15).
Carlos Gonzalez, LF, COL4/21/2014 12:01:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left Sunday's game early with left knee tendinitis and with a poor matchup on Monday could get the night off.
Insight: Gonzalez has never done well against Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (1-for-13). Cargo is off to a solid start batting .282 with four homers, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored, but he's always an injury risk.
Nelson Cruz, LF, BAL4/21/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Orioles outfielder Nelson Cruz is batting .400 against Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz (4-for-10).
Insight: Cruz is batting .333 with a .915 OPS over the past week. For the season he's hit three homers and knocked in 12 runs. He'll bat in the No. 2 hole on Monday, though he's hit better when lower in the lineup.
Jackie Bradley Jr., LF, BOSCold4/21/2014 9:18:00 AM
Description: Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. will start in center and bat eighth for Monday morning's game against Baltimore.
Insight: We're still waiting for the much heralded Bradley to produce. He's batting .220 this season with a .619 OPS.
Khris Davis, LF, MIL4/20/2014 9:19:00 PM
Description: Milwaukee left fielder Khris Davis saved the best for last Sunday in a 14-inning win over Pittsburgh.
Insight: His game-winning solo shot in the 14th traveled 398 feet. That was Davis' first home run of the season. He hasn't gotten off to a great start (.258 AVG in 66 at bats) but we're confident Davis will find his swing sooner rather than later.
David DeJesus, LF, TAMCold4/20/2014 7:12:00 PM
Description: After striking out in a pinch-hitting appearance Sunday against New York, Rays outfielder David DeJesus is now hitless in his last 24 at bats.
Insight: Of all players with at least 40 at bats, DeJesus' .119 batting average is the lowest in the major leagues. DeJesus may not have a roster spot much longer if this keeps up.
Yoenis Cespedes, LF, OAK4/20/2014 6:49:00 PM
Description: A's left fielder Yoenis Cespedes is done for the day after bruising his right heel Sunday versus Houston. SOURCE: John Hickey, Oakland Tribune
Insight: Cespedes went 0-for-2 before leaving in the sixth inning. Craig Gentry (.389, 0 HR, 1 RBI) has come on to play left field.
Sam Fuld, LF, MIN4/20/2014 3:29:00 PM
Description: The Twins were able to claim outfielder Sam Fuld, who was recently placed on waivers. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: Fuld was designated for assignment by Oakland about a week ago. Even if Fuld becomes an everyday player, which is certainly possible in Minnesota's lackluster outfield, he won't be much of a fantasy option (.233 average in 743 career at bats).
Michael Morse, LF, SFG4/20/2014 9:15:00 AM
Description: Giants left fielder Michael Morse hit his third home run of the season Saturday night at San Diego.
Insight: Morse came into the game with two hits in his last 17 at-bats. The 32-year-old is hitting .302 with a .920 OPS through 53 at-bats.
David DeJesus, LF, TAMCold4/19/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: The Rays scored 16 runs Saturday against the Yankees, but left fielder David DeJesus went 0-for-6 with two strikeouts.
Insight: DeJesus had zero hits in his last 20 at-bats and is batting .122 this season. The 34-year-old outfielder has little power and little speed so there's no need to own him.
Starling Marte, LF, PIT 4/19/2014 10:26:00 PM
Description: Pirates left fielder Starling Marte has swiped four bases in his last three games.
Insight: Marte went 5-for-13 with five singles and two walks in that span, so he was on first base a lot. He's hitting .274 with 13 runs and seven steals, but the strikeouts are starting to pile up. Marte has 28 Ks in 73 at-bats.
Ryan Braun, LF, MILHot4/19/2014 10:17:00 PM
Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI and four runs Saturday at Pittsburgh.
Insight: He came in with great numbers against Wandy Rodriguez but actually hit both homers off Pittsburgh's bullpen. All five of Braun's homers this season have come in his two multi-homer games.
Bryce Harper, LF, WAS4/19/2014 5:04:00 PM
Description: Nats left fielder Bryce Harper was pulled from Saturday's game for a "lack of hustle," not for quad tightness, according to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post.
Insight: Harper has been dealing with the quad injury for the past week or so but that wasn't why manager Matt Williams decided to remove him Saturday after six innings. Harper has gone 2-for-15 over his last four games after goign 11-for-21 with five extra-base hits from April 9-14. However, it's a good sign that he has struck out in just one of his last 21 at-bats after fanning 16 times in his first 40.
Bryce Harper, LF, WAS4/19/2014 3:34:00 PM
Description: Nats left fielder Bryce Harper left Saturday's game against St. Louis due to tightness in left quadriceps.
Insight: Harper hasn't been durable throughout his career so we've come to expect he'll be in and out of the lineup. He's batting .310 this season with one homer, five RBI and seven runs. He's struck out 17 times and is 0-for-2 in stolen base attempts. Fantasy expect more.
Ryan Ludwick, LF, CIN4/19/2014 3:25:00 PM
Description: Reds outfielder Ryan Ludwick took a foul tip off his big toes and is expected to miss a couple of games, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Insight: X-rays came back negative. Ludwick is averaging .289 with a pair of homers and six RBI while striking out 13 times. He needs a good season to protect Joey Votto in the Reds lineup.
Ryan Braun, LF, MIL4/19/2014 10:33:00 AM
Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun is a career .383 hitter with four homers and a 1.271 OPS versus Pittsburgh lefty Wandy Rodriguez.
Insight: Other than one huge series in Philadelphia (three homers and 10 RBI in a three-game set) he has done little in the other 12 games, but this matchup might get him going. Or not.
Melky Cabrera, LF, TOR4/18/2014 10:29:00 PM
Description: Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera went ballistic Friday in a 3-2 win over Cleveland.
Insight: Cabrera delivered four hits in the victory, raising his season average from .301 to .333 in the process. All four of his hits were singles.
Michael Morse, LF, SFG4/18/2014 8:35:00 PM
Description: San Francisco left fielder Mike Morse will be given the night off Friday against San Diego. SOURCE: Henry Schulman, San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: It's his first absence of the year. Defensive whiz Gregor Blanco (.125, 0 HR, 1 RBI) will be given the start in left field.
Cody Ross, LF, ARI4/18/2014 7:33:00 PM
Description: D-Backs left fielder Cody Ross has been activated from the 15-day DL.
Insight: Ross hit .290 during a nine-game rehab stint with Triple-A Reno. Tonight's contest against the Dodgers will be Ross' first big league game since suffering a broken hip last August.
Alfonso Soriano, LF, NYYHot4/18/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: Yankees outfielder/DH Alfonso Soriano is a lifetime .500 hitter against Rays starter Erik Bedard (7-for-14).
Insight: The 38-year-old went 0-for-16 to start the season, but he's been hot this week, batting .360 with a trio of homers over his last six games. In this favorable matchup he should be started.
Ryan Braun, LF, MIL4/18/2014 10:06:00 AM
Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun is a career .467 hitter with a 1.356 OPS versus Pittsburgh right-hander Charlie Morton.
Insight: Braun did most of his damage this season in one huge series in Philadelphia (all three homers and all 10 RBI came in the three-game set) and has done little in the other 11 games, but this matchup might get him going.
Melky Cabrera, LF, TORHot4/18/2014 9:52:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera is a .500 hitter (11-for-22) versus Indians starter Justin Masterson, who has not yet found his groove in 2014.
Insight: Cabrera is off to a huge start, batting .301 with four homers and an .841 OPS through his first 16 games. He's got a favorable matchup against a struggling pitcher (5.87 ERA, 1.696 WHIP). Start him.
Michael Brantley, LF, CLEHot4/17/2014 10:49:00 PM
Description: Cleveland left fielder Michael Brantley recorded four RBI Thursday in a loss to Detroit.
Insight: That gives Brantley 14 RBI for the season, tied for third-most in the American League. He's on pace to drive in 151 runs this year, which is more than double his career-high in that category (73 in 2013).
Carlos Gonzalez, LF, COLCold4/17/2014 7:14:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez wasn't in the starting lineup Thursday against San Diego. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Gonzalez has never done well against Padres right-hander Ian Kennedy (.138 AVG in 29 at bats). Corey Dickerson (.125, 0 HR, 0 RBI) got the start in left field.
Bryce Harper, LF, WAS4/17/2014 6:38:00 PM
Description: Nats left fielder Bryce Harper is back after missing Wednesday's game with a tight quad. SOURCE: James Wagner, Washington Post
Insight: Harper hasn't always been that durable throughout his career so it's nice to see him recover so quickly. He's hitting .340 this season in 50 at bats.
Bryce Harper, LF, WAS4/17/2014 10:11:00 AM
Description: Washington outfielder Bryce Harper is a career .545 hitter versus Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright.
Insight: Harper was scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup while dealing with a quad injury, so he might not get a chance to take advantage of this favorable matchup.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF, COL4/17/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .138 hitter (4-for-29) versus Padres starter Ian Kennedy with 13 strikeouts.
Insight: Historically, Gonzalez's worst month is April (.843 OPS), but he's off to a better start this year, batting .283 with four homers and a .915 OPS. This matchup should probably be avoided.
Michael Brantley, LF, CLE4/17/2014 9:29:00 AM
Description: Indians outfielder Michael Brantley is one of the rare hitters with success versus Detroit ace Justin Verlander.
Insight: Brantley is a career .395 hitter against the right-hander. He's also 4-for-4 in stolen bases once he gets on base.
Bryce Harper, LF, WAS4/16/2014 6:16:00 PM
Description: Washington outfielder Bryce Harper has been scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup. He's been dealing with a quad injury. SOURCE: Mark Zuckerman, Comcast Sportsnet Washington
Insight: It's his first absence of the season. Tyler Moore (.333, 1 HR, 2 RBI) will take Harper's place in left field.
Starling Marte, LF, PITCold4/16/2014 1:07:00 PM
Description: Pirates left fielder Starling Marte got a day off Wednesday, according to Tom Singer of mlb.com. He's been scuffling at the plate and has 23 Ks.
Insight: "Marte's swing just doesn't look right to me," manager Clint Hurdle said. "We've been too soft at the top." Jose Tabata started in left field and hit leadoff Wednesday against the Reds.
Dustin Ackley, LF, SEA4/16/2014 10:45:00 AM
Description: Seattle left fielder Dustin Ackley has gone 3-for-18 (.167) with five Ks against Rangers ace Yu Darvish.
Insight: Ackley was sent to the minors in May last year and revived his career after being recalled by hitting .301 with a .795 OPS in his last 61 games. He has started out by batting .295 with one homer, seven RBI and an .803 OPS in 12 games this season, but he's never had success against Darvish.
Carl Crawford, LF, LOS4/15/2014 6:38:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles left fielder Carl Crawford is back after sitting out the last two games with tightness in his side.
Insight: Crawford (.306, 0 HR, 2 RBI, 4 SB) returns to a three-game hitting streak. He's 3-for-7 in his career against tonight's starting pitcher, Tim Lincecum (0-1, 9.90 ERA).
Bryce Harper, LF, WASHot4/15/2014 6:16:00 PM
Description: Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper (quad) is in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins, according to Dan Kolko of masnsports.com.
Insight: He aggravated a quad injury when he slipped while running the bases Monday. Harper has gone 11-for-21 over his last six games and was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple Monday before leaving.
Curtis Granderson, LF, NYM4/15/2014 11:48:00 AM
Description: X-rays on Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson were negative after he ran into the wall on Monday.
Insight: Granderson appeared to injury his ribs, arm and knee and fantasy owners should expect him to miss a day or two, but it shouldn't require a stint on the disabled list. The slugger is struggling in the early going, batting .170 through the first 13 games with one homer and four RBI.
Domonic Brown, LF, PHI4/14/2014 10:57:00 PM
Description: Phillies left fielder Domonic Brown launched a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday against the Braves.
Insight: The shot briefly gave the Phillies a 6-5 lead, but Jake Diekman allowed a grand slam to Dan Uggla in the ninth. Brown has a .304 average and eight RBI so far.
Bryce Harper, LF, WASHot4/14/2014 10:26:00 PM
Description: Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper left Monday's game with a tight quad, according to James Wagner of the Washington Post. He's expected to play Tuesday.
Insight: Harper has gone 11-for-21 over his last six games and was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple Monday before leaving. The quad injury has been bothering him for a few days and it flared up when he slipped while running the bases.
Cody Ross, LF, ARI4/14/2014 8:47:00 PM
Description: According to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic, Diamondbacks outfielder Cody Ross (hip) is targeting Friday for his return.

Khris Davis, LF, MIL4/14/2014 6:48:00 PM
Description: Brewers left fielder Khris Davis is not in the starting lineup for the second straight day Monday against the Cardinals.
Insight: Davis is hitting .279 with five doubles so far, but he has 14 Ks and zero homers in 43 at-bats. Logan Schafer will get another start.
Nate McLouth, LF, WAS4/14/2014 5:48:00 PM
Description: Washington outfielder Nate McLouth's knee is still sore but he'll be available if needed on Monday, according to Dan Kolko of masnsports.com. The Nats would like to avoid using him, however.
Insight: McLouth was scratched from Sunday's lineup. He's missing a chance to start with Denard Span on the 7-day concussion DL.
David DeJesus, LF, TAM4/14/2014 3:15:00 PM
Description: Tampa Bay left fielder David DeJesus is not in Monday's lineup.
Insight: Btandon Guyer will get another start. DeJesus is batting just .172 this season. Guyer is just 1-for-8 with one homer. Neither is fantasy worthy at this time.
Mark Trumbo, LF, ARIHot4/13/2014 11:15:00 PM
Description: Arizona left fielder Mark Trumbo cracked another homer Sunday against the Dodgers.
Insight: Trumbo has the most home runs and RBI in the majors with six and 18, respectively.
Yoenis Cespedes, LF, OAK4/13/2014 9:47:00 PM
Description: Oakland left fielder Yoenis Cespedes blasted a two-run home run Sunday at Seattle.
Insight: Cespedes took a step back last year, going from a .292 average and an .861 OPS in 2012 to a .240 average and a .736 OPS in 2013. Through 12 games in 2014, he's batting .234 but has two home runs and nine RBI.
Bryce Harper, LF, WAS4/13/2014 8:17:00 PM
Description: The Braves couldn't get Bryce Harper out on Sunday.
Insight: Harper went 2-for-2 with a double and two BBs. He's suddenly hitting .310 after going 9-for-17 in his last five games.
Justin Upton, LF, ATLHot4/13/2014 8:14:00 PM
Description: Braves outfielder Justin Upton hit another home run Sunday against the Nationals.
Insight: Upton is absolutely locked in right now. He's gone 11-for-14 (.786) with four home runs, eight RBI and eight runs in his last four games and struck out just twice in his last six.
Josh Willingham, LF, MIN4/13/2014 4:05:00 PM

Carl Crawford, LF, LOS4/13/2014 4:04:00 PM

Insight: Andre Ethier will keep the starting gig as long as Crawford is out.
Dustin Ackley, LF, SEA4/13/2014 1:20:00 PM
Description: Seattle left fielder Dustin Ackley is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against Oakland. SOURCE: Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area
Insight: This will be Ackley's first absence of the season. Willie Bloomquist (.500, 0 HR, 0 RBI) will hold down the fort in left field on Sunday.
Carl Crawford, LF, LOS4/13/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles outfielder Carl Crawford is not listed in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Arizona. SOURCE: Ken Gurnick, MLB.com
Insight: Crawford, one of the premier outfielders in the game during his nine-year tenure with Tampa Bay, now finds himself in a platoon situation with Andre Ethier in left field. He's played well this season (.306 AVG in nine games) but may not see enough at bats to be a factor in fantasy leagues. It also hurts that he doesn't steal as many bases as he used to (just 15 last season).
Nelson Cruz, LF, BAL4/13/2014 11:27:00 AM
Description: Orioles left fielder Nelson Cruz is not listed in Sunday's starting lineup. SOURCE: Eduardo Encina, Baltimore Sun
Insight: Delmon Young, who has mostly served as Baltimore's DH, will make his first start of the year in left field. Cruz (.250, 2 HR, 6 RBI) went 1-for-4 with a walk during last night's 12-inning win against Toronto.
Curtis Granderson, LF, NYM4/12/2014 10:31:00 AM
Description: Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson is a career .370 hitter (10-for-27) with five home runs against Angels right-hander Jered Weaver.
Insight: Granderson is struggling this spring, batting just .135 through the first 10 games after batting an ugly .157 in spring training. He's always been a slow start, so don't give up on the slugger just yet, but don't start him on Saturday.
Ryan Braun, LF, MILHot4/12/2014 10:20:00 AM
Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun is a career .357 hitter with a .955 OPS versus Pittsburgh right-hander Edinson Volquez.
Insight: Braun is coming off a huge series in Philadelphia (3 HR, 10 RBI). He's also 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts against Volquez.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF, COL4/12/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .098 hitter (4-for-41) versus San Francisco Giants right-hander Matt Cain.
Insight: Gonzalez is off to a quick start, batting .375 with four homers, 13 RBI and a league-leading .800 slugging percentage. Saturday, however, is a poor matchup.
Matt Holliday, LF, STL4/12/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: Cardinals LF Matt Holliday is a .313 hitter with three homers against Cubs right-hander Carlos Villanueva.
Insight: Holliday is off to a slow start, batting just .216, but a favorable matchup and the strong wind blowing out to left field (15-20 mph) makes him a viable option on Saturday.
Jason Kubel, LF, MINHot4/12/2014 9:43:00 AM
Description: Twins OF/DH Jason Kubel is a career .391 hitter (9-for-23) versus Royals ace James Shields.
Insight: Kubel is off to a hot start, batting .412 through the first nine games and has a six-game hitting streak. Add in a favorable matchup and he's a solid start on Saturday.
Dayan Viciedo, LF, CWS4/12/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo is still searching for his first hit against Cleveland starter Justin Masterson after 14 at-bats.
Insight: Viciedo has a chance to play almost everyday with Avisail Garcia sidelined, but Saturday isn't likely to be a good one. Avoid him.
Josh Willingham, LF, MIN4/11/2014 8:28:00 PM
Description: Twins left fielder Josh Willingham (wrist) will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, according to Tyler Mason of foxsportsnorth.com.
Insight: Willingham was hit in the left wrist by a pitch on Sunday and hasn't played since. The Twins must have felt he wasn't making enough progress to remain on the active roster.
Josh Willingham, LF, MIN4/11/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: Twins left fielder Josh Willingham (wrist) will miss Friday's game, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Insight: Willingham was hit in the left wrist by a pitch on Sunday and hasn't played since. The team will place him on the DL if his wrist issue drags through the weekend.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF, COLHot4/11/2014 10:25:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .367 hitter with four homers and a 1.308 OPS versus Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: Those numbers fly in the face of Gonzalez's career statistics which show he's just a .281 hitter with a .798 OPS versus left-handers. Cargo is batting .389 this season with three homers and 11 RBI. Its ok to start him in this lefty vs. left matchup.

Description: Astros outfielder Chris Carter is 0-for-8 with six strikeouts against Texas starter Yu Darvish.
Insight: Carter led the league in strikeouts last season with 212 and is doing the same this year. He's a home run hitter, with 29 long balls last season, but it comes at an expensive price to your team batting average. Obviously, avoid him on Friday.

Description: Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. could remain in the starting lineup even after Shane Victorino returns from a strained hamstring. SOURCE: Alex Speier, WEEI
Insight: Bradley's defense has been better than Grady Sizemore's and it's possible the team could move Sizemore to left field while using Bradley as the everyday center fielder. Daniel Nava, Jonny Gomes and Mike Carp could all see their playing time reduced if Bradley keeps up his torrid hot streak (.421 AVG over his last five games).
Josh Hamilton, LF, ANA4/9/2014 10:16:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles left fielder Josh Hamilton suffered a thumb injury late in Tuesday night's loss to Seattle and will now need an MRI. SOURCE: MLBlogs

Insight: So much for that sore thumb. Braun's seven RBI were a career-high. Braun entered today's action with just three hits in his first 20 at bats (.150 AVG). We'll have to see which Braun shows up Wednesday against Roberto Hernandez (1-0, 3.38 ERA).

Description: Nationals left fielder Bryce Harper is 5-for-10 with a pair of long balls and a 1.745 OPS versus Miami right-hander Henderson Alvarez.
