Description: Boston outfielder Daniel Nava won't be in the lineup Tuesday against New York.
Insight: Nava has had a very poor season offensively (.149, 2 HR, 3 RBI) and is unlikely to be an everyday player when Shane Victorino (strained hamstring) returns from the disabled list later this week.
Description: Diamondbacks left fielder Mark Trumbo won't be in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs. SOURCE: Diamondbacks on Twitter
Insight: Trumbo has logged the sixth-most at bats in the National League this season and could probably use a night off. His power numbers have been excellent (7 HR, 19 RBI) but he's hitting just .210.
Description: Former Houston outfielder J.D. Martinez was called up by the Tigers this week and could get a few starts based on his minor league play.
Insight: Martinez batted .308 with 10 homers, 22 RBI and a 1.212 OPS in 17 games for the Toledo Mud Hens. With the Tigers averaging less than four runs per game, they could use a hot bat in the lineup.
Description: Los Angeles left fielder Carl Crawford will sit out Monday against the Phillies. SOURCE: Dylan Hernandez, Los Angeles Times
Insight: Crawford is hitting .083 against left-handers this season so it makes sense to give him the night off with Cliff Lee (2-2, 4.00 ERA) throwing for Philadelphia. Scott Van Slyke (.333, 2 HR, 4 RBI) is making his sixth start of the year in left field.
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left Sunday's game early with left knee tendinitis and with a poor matchup on Monday could get the night off.
Insight: Gonzalez has never done well against Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (1-for-13). Cargo is off to a solid start batting .282 with four homers, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored, but he's always an injury risk.
Description: Orioles outfielder Nelson Cruz is batting .400 against Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz (4-for-10).
Insight: Cruz is batting .333 with a .915 OPS over the past week. For the season he's hit three homers and knocked in 12 runs. He'll bat in the No. 2 hole on Monday, though he's hit better when lower in the lineup.
Description: Milwaukee left fielder Khris Davis saved the best for last Sunday in a 14-inning win over Pittsburgh.
Insight: His game-winning solo shot in the 14th traveled 398 feet. That was Davis' first home run of the season. He hasn't gotten off to a great start (.258 AVG in 66 at bats) but we're confident Davis will find his swing sooner rather than later.
Description: The Twins were able to claim outfielder Sam Fuld, who was recently placed on waivers. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: Fuld was designated for assignment by Oakland about a week ago. Even if Fuld becomes an everyday player, which is certainly possible in Minnesota's lackluster outfield, he won't be much of a fantasy option (.233 average in 743 career at bats).
Description: Pirates left fielder Starling Marte has swiped four bases in his last three games.
Insight: Marte went 5-for-13 with five singles and two walks in that span, so he was on first base a lot. He's hitting .274 with 13 runs and seven steals, but the strikeouts are starting to pile up. Marte has 28 Ks in 73 at-bats.
Description: Nats left fielder Bryce Harper was pulled from Saturday's game for a "lack of hustle," not for quad tightness, according to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post.
Insight: Harper has been dealing with the quad injury for the past week or so but that wasn't why manager Matt Williams decided to remove him Saturday after six innings. Harper has gone 2-for-15 over his last four games after goign 11-for-21 with five extra-base hits from April 9-14. However, it's a good sign that he has struck out in just one of his last 21 at-bats after fanning 16 times in his first 40.
Description: Nats left fielder Bryce Harper left Saturday's game against St. Louis due to tightness in left quadriceps.
Insight: Harper hasn't been durable throughout his career so we've come to expect he'll be in and out of the lineup. He's batting .310 this season with one homer, five RBI and seven runs. He's struck out 17 times and is 0-for-2 in stolen base attempts. Fantasy expect more.
Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun is a career .467 hitter with a 1.356 OPS versus Pittsburgh right-hander Charlie Morton.
Insight: Braun did most of his damage this season in one huge series in Philadelphia (all three homers and all 10 RBI came in the three-game set) and has done little in the other 11 games, but this matchup might get him going.
Description: Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera is a .500 hitter (11-for-22) versus Indians starter Justin Masterson, who has not yet found his groove in 2014.
Insight: Cabrera is off to a huge start, batting .301 with four homers and an .841 OPS through his first 16 games. He's got a favorable matchup against a struggling pitcher (5.87 ERA, 1.696 WHIP). Start him.
Description: Cleveland left fielder Michael Brantley recorded four RBI Thursday in a loss to Detroit.
Insight: That gives Brantley 14 RBI for the season, tied for third-most in the American League. He's on pace to drive in 151 runs this year, which is more than double his career-high in that category (73 in 2013).
Description: Seattle left fielder Dustin Ackley has gone 3-for-18 (.167) with five Ks against Rangers ace Yu Darvish.
Insight: Ackley was sent to the minors in May last year and revived his career after being recalled by hitting .301 with a .795 OPS in his last 61 games. He has started out by batting .295 with one homer, seven RBI and an .803 OPS in 12 games this season, but he's never had success against Darvish.
Description: Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper (quad) is in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins, according to Dan Kolko of masnsports.com.
Insight: He aggravated a quad injury when he slipped while running the bases Monday. Harper has gone 11-for-21 over his last six games and was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple Monday before leaving.
Description: X-rays on Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson were negative after he ran into the wall on Monday.
Insight: Granderson appeared to injury his ribs, arm and knee and fantasy owners should expect him to miss a day or two, but it shouldn't require a stint on the disabled list. The slugger is struggling in the early going, batting .170 through the first 13 games with one homer and four RBI.
Description: Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper left Monday's game with a tight quad, according to James Wagner of the Washington Post. He's expected to play Tuesday.
Insight: Harper has gone 11-for-21 over his last six games and was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple Monday before leaving. The quad injury has been bothering him for a few days and it flared up when he slipped while running the bases.
Description: Washington outfielder Nate McLouth's knee is still sore but he'll be available if needed on Monday, according to Dan Kolko of masnsports.com. The Nats would like to avoid using him, however.
Insight: McLouth was scratched from Sunday's lineup. He's missing a chance to start with Denard Span on the 7-day concussion DL.
Description: Oakland left fielder Yoenis Cespedes blasted a two-run home run Sunday at Seattle.
Insight: Cespedes took a step back last year, going from a .292 average and an .861 OPS in 2012 to a .240 average and a .736 OPS in 2013. Through 12 games in 2014, he's batting .234 but has two home runs and nine RBI.
Description: Los Angeles outfielder Carl Crawford is not listed in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Arizona. SOURCE: Ken Gurnick, MLB.com
Insight: Crawford, one of the premier outfielders in the game during his nine-year tenure with Tampa Bay, now finds himself in a platoon situation with Andre Ethier in left field. He's played well this season (.306 AVG in nine games) but may not see enough at bats to be a factor in fantasy leagues. It also hurts that he doesn't steal as many bases as he used to (just 15 last season).
Description: Orioles left fielder Nelson Cruz is not listed in Sunday's starting lineup. SOURCE: Eduardo Encina, Baltimore Sun
Insight: Delmon Young, who has mostly served as Baltimore's DH, will make his first start of the year in left field. Cruz (.250, 2 HR, 6 RBI) went 1-for-4 with a walk during last night's 12-inning win against Toronto.
Description: Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson is a career .370 hitter (10-for-27) with five home runs against Angels right-hander Jered Weaver.
Insight: Granderson is struggling this spring, batting just .135 through the first 10 games after batting an ugly .157 in spring training. He's always been a slow start, so don't give up on the slugger just yet, but don't start him on Saturday.
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .367 hitter with four homers and a 1.308 OPS versus Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: Those numbers fly in the face of Gonzalez's career statistics which show he's just a .281 hitter with a .798 OPS versus left-handers. Cargo is batting .389 this season with three homers and 11 RBI. Its ok to start him in this lefty vs. left matchup.
Description: Astros outfielder Chris Carter is 0-for-8 with six strikeouts against Texas starter Yu Darvish.
Insight: Carter led the league in strikeouts last season with 212 and is doing the same this year. He's a home run hitter, with 29 long balls last season, but it comes at an expensive price to your team batting average. Obviously, avoid him on Friday.
Description: Mets center fielder Eric Young put his speed on display Thursday at Atlanta.
Insight: Young went 3-for-5 with a triple, three steals and four runs scored. He stole 35 bags and scored 48 runs in just 91 games with New York after coming over from the Rockies last season and has five steals on five attempts this year.
Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun is a career .435 hitter with three home runs and a 1.304 OPS versus Phillies ace left-hander Cliff Lee.
Insight: Braun is 4-for-9 with three homers and nine RBI in the first two games of the series. He's always loved hitting in Citizen Bank Park (.398, 10 HR, 23 RBI, 1.294 OPS in 21 games). Make him a must start on Thursday.
Description: Orioles outfielder Delmon Young had another three-hit game Wednesday against the Yankees.
Insight: Young went 6-for-11 with a double and a homer over the last two days. He may steal at-bats from David Lough, who has been out of the lineup with concussion-like symptoms but won't be placed on the DL.
Description: Kansas City left fielder Alex Gordon had a big day at the plate Wednesday against the Rays.
Insight: Gordon had two hits, including a homer, and four RBI in four at-bats. The left fielder has averaged 19 homers, 80 RBI, 95 runs and 13 steals over the past three years. He's batting lower in the order this year, so expect fewer runs and more RBI.
Description: Twins DH Jason Kubel went 4-for-5 with a solo homer Wednesday against Oakland.
Insight: Prior to Wednesday's game, Kubel had hit just 12 homers in 112 games at Target Field. He's hitting .462 with five runs, four doubles, one homer, six RBI and a 1.212 OPS this season after batting .216 with five homers in 97 games a year ago.
Description: Los Angeles left fielder Josh Hamilton will miss 6-8 weeks because of a complete UCL tear in his left thumb, according to mlb.com.
Insight: Hamilton will undergo surgery for the injury, which he suffered while sliding head-first into first base Tuesday night. The 32-year-old was off to a great start, batting .444 with two doubles, two homers and six RBI in 27 at-bats, after a down year in 2013.
Description: Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. could remain in the starting lineup even after Shane Victorino returns from a strained hamstring. SOURCE: Alex Speier, WEEI
Insight: Bradley's defense has been better than Grady Sizemore's and it's possible the team could move Sizemore to left field while using Bradley as the everyday center fielder. Daniel Nava, Jonny Gomes and Mike Carp could all see their playing time reduced if Bradley keeps up his torrid hot streak (.421 AVG over his last five games).
Description: Mets center fielder Eric Young had two hits, one RBI and two steals Tuesday at Atlanta.
Insight: Young stole 35 bags and scored 48 runs in just 91 games with New York after coming over from the Rockies last season. He didn't have much of a chance to steal in his first five games, as he went 2-for-19 with a double and a walk.
Description: Texas left fielder Shin-Soo Choo got on base four times in Tuesday night's win against the Red Sox.
Insight: That's what the Rangers got him for. Choo has been an on base machine throughout his career (.389 career OBP) and so far he's done nothing to change that reputation this season (.444 OBP in four games). He's batting .467 during his current four-game hitting streak.
Description: Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun corked three homers Tuesday in a blowout win over Philadelphia.
Insight: So much for that sore thumb. Braun's seven RBI were a career-high. Braun entered today's action with just three hits in his first 20 at bats (.150 AVG). We'll have to see which Braun shows up Wednesday against Roberto Hernandez (1-0, 3.38 ERA).
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez will get a night off Tuesday against the White Sox.
Insight: Gonzalez has hit safely in all eight games this season and is batting .355 with three homers, nine RBI, eight runs and two steals. Injuries are the only thing that can prevent him from being a top-10 overall fantasy option.
Description: Phillies left fielder Domonic Brown has the power to take Brewers hurler Kyle Lohse deep, but he's just 1-for-9 (.111) in their matchups.
Insight: Brown (.272, 27 HR, 83 RBI) last season is off to a solid start, batting .381 through six games, but has yet to go yard. A warning track fly ball in right field could leave the park today, but the matchup is unfavorable.
