UC Irvine, Vandy advance in CWS

Omaha, NE (SportsNetwork.com) - Dansby Swanson punctuated a three-run second inning with a two-run double, as Vanderbilt claimed a 5-3 victory over Louisville in Saturday's second contest of the 2014 College World Series.

Carson Fulmer allowed six hits and two runs while fanning six over 5 1/3 innings for the Commodores, while Adam Ravenelle worked the final 2 1/3 scoreless frames to secure the victory.

Bryan Reynolds knocked in the other run for Vandy, which topped Stanford to reach the final round.

Sutton Whiting stroked an RBI triple, with Kyle Gibson and Nick Solak providing a run batted in apiece in defeat.

Kyle Funkhouser took the loss for the Cardinals, charged with four runs on six hits with six walks.

Earlier Saturday, Chris Rabago's tie-breaking RBI single highlighted an eighth-inning rally that lifted UC Irvine to a 3-1 triumph over Texas.

The Anteaters scored three times in the eighth to overcome a 1-0 deficit and advance to a winner's bracket matchup on Monday with Vanderbilt. The Longhorns will square off against Louisville in the loser's bracket also on Monday.
