NHL cancels games through Nov. 1 Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Just one day after another unsuccessful meeting between the National Hockey League and the NHL Players Association, the NHL announced the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through Nov. 1 on Friday. On Thursday, the NHLPA supplied three separate proposals to the NHL. The NHL, however, turned down all three offers and the meeting broke up after a little more than an hour. The lockout, which began on Sept. 16, has now caused the cancellation of 135 regular-season games. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman submitted a six-year offer to the NHLPA on Tuesday, one that included a 50-50 split of hockey-related revenue and allowed for a full 82-game season to begin on Nov. 2. 10/19 14:20:38 ET |
