Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
If I asked you who was the No.1 shortstop for the month of May, I'm sure I would get a lot of votes for Hanley Ramirez, Miguel Tejada, Derek Jeter and Jimmy Rollins. However, none of those answers would be correct.
The shortstop having the best month of May is Tampa Bay's Jason Bartlett. Bartlett has scored 18 runs, knocked in 23, hit four HRs and stolen nine bases. He's batting .388 with a .688 slugging percentage and an OPS of 1.128.
Bartlett was pretty good in April too, hitting .358 with 14 runs scored, three homers, seven RBIs and five stolen bases.
And the good news is that he is still available in around 20% of the leagues out there. So what are you waiting for? If you have been starting J.J. Hardy, Alexei Ramirez, Troy Tulowitzki or are suffering through Jose Reyes' injury, here is the perfect substitute.
