Washington Redskins Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Pierre Garcon, WR12/20/2014 7:56:00 PM
Description: Washington receiver Pierre Garcon had a decent game Saturday versus Philadelphia.
Insight: Garcon had four receptions for 61 yards, including a 23-yarder to set up the game-winning field goal.
DeSean Jackson, WR12/20/2014 7:55:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson was unguardable during Week 16.
Insight: He beat the Eagles deep on numerous times, and finished with four catches for 126 yards. He is arguably the best deep threat in the game.
Alfred Morris, RB12/20/2014 7:53:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris had a nice game Saturday against the Eagles.
Insight: He had 21 carries for 83 yards and a score. Darrel Young actually limited Morris' fantasy day, as he vultured two one-yard touchdowns away from him.
Robert Griffin III, QB12/20/2014 7:52:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III did enough to help the Redskins win during Week 16 against Philadelphia.
Insight: He threw for 220 yards and one interception, while scrambling for 11 more yards. Griffin will be a QB2 for the final week of the season.
Colt McCoy, QB12/16/2014 2:35:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy re-injured his neck and is apparently going to be placed on injured reserve ending his season.
Insight: Robert Griffin III is the next man up. He filled in for McCoy after the injury and threw for 236 yards and a touchdown.
Robert Griffin III, QB12/15/2014 4:50:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III will likely start Saturday against Philadelphia.
Insight: Colt McCoy is dealing with a neck injury, paving way for Griffin to get another look. He will be a decent option against Philadelphia's suspect defense.
Pierre Garcon, WR12/14/2014 7:51:00 PM
Description: Washington receiver Pierre Garcon had four catches for 36 yards versus the Giants.
Insight: Garcon had seven targets, just behind DeSean Jackson for the team lead, but either receiver did much with them. Garcon is likely a WR3 next week.
DeSean Jackson, WR12/14/2014 7:49:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson had a team-high eight targets, yet failed to produce.
Insight: Jackson had three catches for 15 yards. He remains a big boom-or-bust guy and an even bigger risk with the unsteady situation at quarterback.
Andre Roberts, WR12/14/2014 7:46:00 PM
Description: Washington wide receiver Andre Roberts led the team in receiving against the Giants.
Insight: Roberts caught just two passes on four targets, yet gained 81 receiving yards. His big catch went for 61 yards. However, Roberts is not fantasy relevant to end this season.
Alfred Morris, RB12/14/2014 7:44:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris had 14 carries for 49 yards in Week 15.
Insight: With 14 of those yards coming on one play, Morris was pretty much bottled up all day. Morris is no longer a fantasy stud and should be sat if owners have better options.
Robert Griffin III, QB12/14/2014 7:42:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III came off the bench for the injured Colt McCoy and played pretty well.
Insight: Griffin was 18-for-27 with 236 yards and a touchdown, though, many Washington fans likely believe Griffin scored a rushing touchdown at the end of the first half too. Griffin dove for the pilon but fumbled out of bounds just before scoring. With the time expired, Washington did not have another opportunity to score. Although those previous numbers are alright, Griffin did also fumble three times, losing one, and take seven sacks.
Robert Griffin III, QB12/14/2014 1:35:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III is in the game after Colt McCoy re-injured his neck.
Insight: Colt McCoy got the start on Sunday, but RGIII is in there now. It's anyone's guess how he will play?
Colt McCoy, QB12/14/2014 1:28:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy has re-injured his neck and is questionable to return.
Insight: Robert Griffin III is warming up. If you started McCoy, this was a risky choice and it's blowing up in your face.
Colt McCoy, QB12/14/2014 11:38:00 AM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy has been cleared for Week 15, is active and will start.
Insight: He had handled the first-team reps in practice over the past two days, so no surprise here. He will be a QB2 against the Giants.
DeSean Jackson, WR12/14/2014 11:35:00 AM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson (fibula contusion) is active for Week 15 against the Giants.
Insight: Most expect Jackson (47-942-5) to play in Week 15, but obviously not at full strength. His game is dependent upon speed and a leg injury is likely to slow him.
Colt McCoy, QB12/12/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy has been cleared for Week 15 and will start, according to Espn Redskins' reporter John Keim.
Insight: He has handled the first-team reps in practice over the past two days, so no surprise here. He will be a QB2 against the Giants.
Colt McCoy, QB12/11/2014 1:41:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy was taking his reps with the first team Thursday, according to Washington beat reporter Mike Jones.
Insight: McCoy is dealing with a neck issue, but appears to be on schedule to start in Week 15. That doesn't mean he's a viable fantasy option.
DeSean Jackson, WR12/11/2014 1:24:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson (fibula contusion) was limited in practice, but at least he was out there.
Insight: Most expect Jackson (47-942-5) to play in Week 15, but obviously not at full strength. Andre Roberts would take his spot and Pierre Garcon would likely see more targets if Jackson decides to sit.
Pierre Garcon, WR12/7/2014 5:48:00 PM
Description: Washington receiver Pierre Garcon had a team-high 95 receiving yards in Week 14.
Insight: With DeSean Jackson sidelined, Garcon saw 11 targets and caught nine of them. He is more of a WR3 these days.
Alfred Morris, RB12/7/2014 5:47:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris had a terrible outing on Sunday against the Rams.
Insight: He had eight carries for only six yards, along with one catch for 11 yards. Morris is still a borderline RB1.
Colt McCoy, QB12/7/2014 5:46:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy may have lost the starting quarterback spot on Sunday.
Insight: He threw for 199 yards and two interceptions, and Robert Griffin III came in relief, in the fourth quarter. Stay tuned.
DeSean Jackson, WR12/7/2014 11:32:00 AM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson (fibula contusion) had missed all three practices this week and will be inactive for Sunday's game.
Insight: Andre Roberts will take his spot and Pierre Garcon would likely see more targets as well in Week 14 against the Rams.
DeSean Jackson, WR12/5/2014 11:40:00 AM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson (fibula contusion) has missed all three practices this week, according to Mike Jones, Redskins beat writer for The Washington Post, and can't be considered any better than 50/50 to play Sunday.
Insight: Andre Roberts would take his spot if he can't go and Pierre Garcon would likely see more targets as well in Week 14 against the Rams.
DeSean Jackson, WR12/1/2014 4:35:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson is dealing with a fibula contusion, and will be "ok with time," according to head coach Jay Gruden.
Insight: Gruden added he is unsure when Jackson will return, which is not what fantasy owners want to hear. For now, consider him questionable for Week 14 against the Rams.
Pierre Garcon, WRCold11/30/2014 5:41:00 PM
Description: Washington receiver Pierre Garcon received a team-high nine targets but caught just three passes for nine yards.
Insight: Garcon is one of the biggest disappointments this season. He has 49 catches for 507 yards.
Jordan Reed, TE11/30/2014 5:37:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed led the team with 11 targets, nine receptions and 123 receiving yards in Week 13.
Insight: Reed is Colt McCoy's favorite target and is fantasy relevant again as long as Washington stays with McCoy as their starter. In the two games, McCoy has started, Reed had 16 catches and 163 yards.
DeSean Jackson, WR11/30/2014 5:33:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson turned in a great fantasy day with five catches, 84 yards and a touchdown versus the Colts.
Insight: Pierre Garcon had more targets than Jackson, but Jackson caught more of his passes for much bigger gains. Jackson's longest catch was 42 yards. He will remain a borderline WR2 for the fantasy playoffs.
Alfred Morris, RB11/30/2014 5:29:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris is suffering again without Robert Griffin III.
Insight: Morris averages just 60 yards on the ground in games where Colt McCoy or Kirk Cousins starts as opposed to over 100 yards in games where RGIII starts. Morris rushed 17 times for 67 yards versus the Colts.
Colt McCoy, QB11/30/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Colt McCoy threw for 392 yards and three touchdowns versus the Colts.
Insight: If there is a fantasy owner out there that desperately needs help at quarterback, there are worse options than McCoy. His only real blemish was the six sacks he took.
Jordan Reed, TE11/30/2014 12:03:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed is active for Week 13 versus the Colts.
Insight: Reed practiced in a limited fashion this week due to a hamstring injury. Reed received seven targets in the only other game Colt McCoy started this season.
Robert Griffin III, QB11/26/2014 6:16:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III has been benched for Week 13.
Insight: Colt McCoy will get the start on Sunday against Indianapolis, and will likely be the starter the rest of the season.
Robert Griffin III, QBCold11/24/2014 4:04:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III was not pretty Sunday against San Francisco, but coach Jay Gruden has declared he'll be the starter in Week 13.
Insight: RGIII got off just 19 passes, completing 11, for an ugly 106 yards and was sacked five times and lost a fumble. That's not fantasy worthy and he hasn't been in the four full games he's played this season.
Niles Paul, TE11/24/2014 11:31:00 AM
Description: Washington tight end Niles Paul caught just one pass for 11 yards.
Insight: Even with starter Jordan Reed out, Paul couldn't produce fantasy-worthy numbers.
Roy Helu Jr., RB11/24/2014 11:28:00 AM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu saw just two touches against the 49ers.
Insight: As Alfred Morris has improved over the past month, Helu's numbers have headed south. He's been given zero carries the past two games and has a total of eight receptions for 66 yards and a score.
DeSean Jackson, WR11/24/2014 11:26:00 AM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson caught two passes for 39 yards.
Insight: Jackson, like Pierre Garcon, couldn't do much with a struggling quarterback and a tough 49ers defense.
Pierre Garcon, WRCold11/24/2014 11:23:00 AM
Description: Washington receiver Pierre Garcon caught three balls for just 34 yards angainst the 49ers.
Insight: When your quarterback throws for just 106 yards, it's going to be tough for any receiver to produce. Garcon has produced just two double-digit games all season. Thanks DeSean.
Robert Griffin III, QB11/24/2014 11:20:00 AM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III was not pretty Sunday against San Francisco.
Insight: RGIII got off just 19 passes, completing 11, for an ugly 106 yards and was sacked five times and lost a fumble. That's not fantasy worthy and he hasn't been in the four full games he's played this season.
Jordan Reed, TE11/20/2014 1:23:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and has missed the first two days of practice this week.
Insight: Reed is probably on the doubtful side of questionable. If he's out then Niles Paul is a viable fantasy option.
Jordan Reed, TE11/20/2014 1:23:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and has missed all three days of practice this week.
Insight: If he's out then Niles Paul is a viable fantasy option.
Jordan Reed, TE11/18/2014 11:40:00 AM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, the same hamstring that cost him multiple games earlier this season.
Insight: Reed might be on the shelf again, we await further word, but if he's out then Niles Paul is a viable fantasy option.
Niles Paul, TE11/16/2014 7:35:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Niles Paul caught three passes for 17 yards.
Insight: Even with Jordan Reed leaving with an injury, Paul did not have much of an impact. Neither tight end are very good fantasy plays at this point.
DeSean Jackson, WR11/16/2014 7:31:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson caught four passes for 35 yards.
Insight: Jackson just missed a big play a couple times with the pass just out of his reach. He is the epitome of a boom-or-bust player, who will have these kind of weeks from time-to-time. The boom, however, is worth plugging him in the lineup every week.
Alfred Morris, RB11/16/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris loves having Robert Griffin III back in the lineup.
Insight: Morris rushed for 96 yards on 20 carries against the Buccaneers. In the last two games since RGIII returned to the field, Morris has at least 90 rushing yards in each game.
Alfred Morris, RBHot11/16/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris finally cracked the 100-yard mark this season.
Insight: Morris rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown. He's been much improved over the past month and fantasy owners should be happy with his results over the past four games.
Robert Griffin III, QB11/16/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Washington coach Jay Gruden may go back to Colt McCoy.
Insight: We kid, but Robert Griffin III threw for two interceptions and was sacked six times. He completed 23-for-32 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown as well. We hope fantasy owners championship aspirations are not counting on RGIII.
Jordan Reed, TE11/16/2014 4:43:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.
Insight: Reed had two catches for 22 yards before leaving.
Trent Williams, OT11/16/2014 1:45:00 PM
Description: Washington left tackle Trent Williams has left Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.
Insight: He is questionable to return with a knee sprain. This won't help GRIII who has already thrown two interceptions in the first half.
Robert Griffin III, QB11/16/2014 11:35:00 AM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III was on the injury list as probable, but there was no doubt he would play in Week 11 and he is active.
Insight: Griffin was 18-for-28 with 251 yards, a touchdown and one interception in Week 9 and has had two weeks to prepare for this one.
Santana Moss, WR11/16/2014 11:33:00 AM
Description: Washington wide receiver Santana Moss is inactive for Week 11.
Insight: Moss has yet to catch a pass this season.
Leonard Hankerson, WR11/11/2014 11:11:00 PM
Description: Washington receiver Leonard Hankerson is expected to play Sunday for the first time this season.
Insight: Hankerson isn't likely to make much of an impact behind DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Andre Roberts.
Jordan Reed, TE11/2/2014 7:33:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed saw just one target in Week 9.
Insight: Reed did make the catch, and it went for 17 yards. Even still, Reed has much higher expectations as many called him a TE1.
Pierre Garcon, WR11/2/2014 7:30:00 PM
Description: Washington receiver Pierre Garcon continues to be a fantasy disappointment this season.
Insight: Garcon had just three catches for 15 yards in Robert Griffin III's return in Week 9 while DeSean Jackson racked up 120 yards. Garcon has just 458 receiving yards and three touchdowns this season.
DeSean Jackson, WR11/2/2014 7:25:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson certainly looked happy RGIII was back in the lineup.
Insight: Jackson caught four passes for 120 yards and a touchdown, including a 56-yard reception. With Griffin's arm strength, Jackson is a viable WR2 going forward.
Alfred Morris, RB11/2/2014 7:22:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris had his best rushing day of the season against the Vikings.
Insight: Morris had 19 carries for 92 yards and two touchdowns. The 92 yards eclipses his season-high by a single yard, and it was Morris' first multi-touchdown game since Week 2.
Robert Griffin III, QB11/2/2014 7:18:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III played a decent game on Sunday but still ended up on the losing end.
Insight: Not that fantasy owners care, but Griffin hasn't been able to win games since his rookie year. Griffin was 18-for-28 with 251 yards, a touchdown and one interception. He also took five sacks.
Silas Redd, RB11/2/2014 12:21:00 PM
Description: Washington backup running back Silas Redd was injured in a bus crash Sunday morning and is inactive.
Insight: No indication of what happened, but he appears to be the only one injured in the incident. Redd wasn't getting much work behind Alfred Morris and Roy Helu.
Kirk Cousins, QB11/2/2014 12:16:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is inactive for Week 9.
Insight: Cousins was dropped in favor of Colt McCoy and with the return of Robert Griffin III this isn't a surprise.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/30/2014 2:23:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III (ankle) will start Sunday against Minnesota barring any setbacks, according to coach Jay Gruden.
Insight: Griffin practiced in full again on Thursday, so at this point he's a go. He may not be 100 percent as fantasy owners who don't want to gamble should wait a week and see whether he gets through the game and how he performs.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/29/2014 5:23:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III (ankle) will start Sunday against Minnesota, according to NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini.
Insight: Griffin practiced in full on Wednesday, so we feel that Russini's report is correct. However, owners need to wait until coach Jay Gruden gives official word, which should come on either Thursday or Friday.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/29/2014 3:38:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III took first-team reps in practice on Wednesday according to The Washington Post.
Insight: Coach Jay Gruden said Griffin and Colt McCoy will share first-team reps until he makes a decision on who the starter will be this week. Gruden should make up his mind by Friday.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/28/2014 4:53:00 PM
Description: Redskins coach Jay Gruden continued to say on Tuesday that Robert Griffin III is close to returning
Insight: Gruden has said for weeks that Griffin might play probably to give opponents the feeling that they need to prepare for him. We believe Gruden when he says Griffin is close, but we expect him to return in Week 11 after the Redskins Week 10 bye. That just makes too much sense.
Alfred Morris, RB10/25/2014 4:48:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Alfred Morris is probable for Monday night against the Cowboys.
Insight: Morris played through an ankle issue last Sunday, but he didn't miss any practice time this week. Without Robert Griffin III, however, defenses have been able to concentrate on just stopping him rather the read-option as well. Morris is averaging just 3.45 yards per carry this season.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/23/2014 5:28:00 PM
Description: Redskins coach Jay Gruden indicated Robert Griffin III will return for Week 11 against the Buccaneers.
Insight: There is still a small chance Griffin returns for Week 9 at Minnesota, but the wise choice for Gruden would be to hold his quarterback out through the Week 10 bye. Colt McCoy is expected to start in Week 8 against the Cowboys.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/22/2014 1:57:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III (ankle) took the first rep amongst the signal-callers during Wednesday's practice. UPDATE: According to Marie Russini of NBC Washington, there is "NO chance" Griffin plays Monday night against Dallas.
Insight: This hardly means that he is at 100 percent, which coach Jay Gruden said he would have to be at, if Griffin wants to start on Monday night. We expect Colt McCoy to get the nod for Week 8, with Griffin having a chance to get back under center for Week 9.
Colt McCoy, QB10/20/2014 6:31:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy is expected to start during Week 8 against Dallas.
Insight: Coach Jay Gruden made the announcement on Monday, and with Robert Griffin III not expected back just yet, McCoy has passed Kirk Cousins on the depth chart. McCoy is no better than a QB2 for next Monday's tilt against the Cowboys.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/20/2014 3:55:00 PM
Description: Redskins coach Jay Gruden would not rule out Robert Griffin III for Week 8, but said he had "a long way to go."
Insight: That's coach-speak for he's not going to play, but Mr Defensive Coordinator I'm hoping you will waste time in the one-in-a-million chance he does come back early.
Brian Orakpo, LB10/20/2014 1:14:00 PM
Description: Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo suffered a torn right pectoral in the game against Tennessee and is out for the season, according to ProFootballTalk.
Insight: It'ss the third time this injury has happened to him, though the first two were on the left side. It's a huge blow to the Washington defense.
Jordan Reed, TE10/19/2014 6:04:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed had five catches for 54 yards on Sunday versus the Titans.
Insight: Reed had a nice day as he tied Pierre Garcon for the team lead with six targets, but Niles Paul had the big play out of the tight ends. Paul had a 50-yard catch and outgained Reed in the passing game, 58 to 54, even though Reed had three more catches.
Pierre Garcon, WR10/19/2014 5:59:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon caught a 70-yard touchdown against the Titans in Week 7.
Insight: Garcon finished with five catches and 87 yards, but a vast majority of the yards came on the big touchdown grab. Garcon remains a high-upside WR2 no matter who is playing quarterback for the Redskins.
Colt McCoy, QB10/19/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Redskins backup quarterback Colt McCoy played the second half against the Redskins and completed 11-of-12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: More importantly, he won the game. That may not be important for fantasy owners, but we are guessing no one started McCoy anyway. McCoy could be in line to take the starting role until Robert Griffin III returns.
Alfred Morris, RB10/19/2014 5:49:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Alfred Morris had 18 carries for 54 yards against the Titans on Sunday.
Insight: It was the second worst rushing average, 3.0, Morris has posted this season with the other coming against the Seahawks. He did suffer an ankle injury in the second quarter and played through it, so perhaps that effected Morris' performance.
Brian Orakpo, LB10/19/2014 5:32:00 PM
Description: Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo suffered a pectoral injury in the game against Tennessee.
Insight: He'll likely have an MRI Monday.
DeSean Jackson, WR10/19/2014 3:30:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson left the game for a short period of time due to a knee injury, but has returned.
Insight: Jackson has been dull, catching three of five targets for 49 yards at the start of the fourth quarter.
Colt McCoy, QB10/19/2014 3:09:00 PM
Description: Journeyman Colt McCoy, the backup quarterback in Washington, started the second half against the Titans.
Insight: Starter Kirk Cousins was 10-for-16 for 139 yards for zero touchdowns and Washington was down at the half 10-6. McCoy started the second half by hitting Pierre Garcon for a 70-yard score so this might get interesting for next weekend.
Kirk Cousins, QBCold10/19/2014 3:05:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins was pulled at halftime of Week 7 versus Tennessee.
Insight: Cousins was 10-for-16 for 139 yards for zero touchdowns and Washington was down at the half 10-6. Colt McCoy started the second half by hitting Pierre Garcon for a 70-yard score so this might get interesting.
Alfred Morris, RB10/19/2014 2:02:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris has left the game in the second quarter due to a sprained left ankle, but has returned.
Insight: Morris already has rushed the ball 10 times for 40 yards, so if he can stay healthy he could have a heavy workload.
Alfred Morris, RB10/19/2014 1:50:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris has left the game in the second quarter due to a sprained left ankle.
Insight: Morris has eight rushes for 34 yards, but his return is questionable.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/16/2014 1:56:00 PM
Description: Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed Robert Griffin III got in another limited practice Thursday.
Insight: Griffin isn't coming back this week, but he might actually have a small chance for Week 8 (at DAL) or Week 9 (at MIN) instead of the current thought of timeline which is Week 11 after the team's bye.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/15/2014 3:34:00 PM
Description: Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed Robert Griffin III will be the team's starting quarterback once he is cleared to play according to The Washington Post.
Insight: It is still, however, unclear when Griffin will be able to return. Gruden said it could be one week or five weeks. Washington has lost four straight games with Kirk Cousins under center, so even though he might be able to move the ball better than RGIII, the fact Cousins is not winning games makes this decision relatively easy for Gruden.
Roy Helu Jr., RB10/14/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu is putting up decent numbers in the passing game which is good considering he's averaging just 17.5 ypg rushing the football.
Insight: He's combined for 60.5 ypg, but his inability to get into the end zone (1 TD) makes him unplayable in all but ppr leagues.
Robert Griffin III, QB10/14/2014 11:44:00 AM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is expected to begin individual drills this week and could begin practicing next week if he has no setbacks.
Insight: Griffin is not expected back until Week 11, they have a bye in Week 10, so Kirk Cousins should be available to start for three more games.
Colt McCoy, QB10/14/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Journeyman Colt McCoy, the backup quarterback in Washington, is not a starting option, according to a Washington Post report.
Insight: The Redskins aren't winning and coach Jay Gruden was asked about a QB change. Fortunately for Kirk Cousins' fantasy owners a change to McCoy isn't in the cards. But when RGIII is ready, Cousins will return to the bench.
Kirk Cousins, QB10/14/2014 11:38:00 AM
Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins will continue to start, according to coach Jay Gruden.
Insight: Cousins is throwing for a lot of yards and posting good fantasy numbers, he's just not winning football games so there has been talk around Washington about other options. Fortunately, Colt McCoy isn't one of them and Cousins should continue to start until RGIII is ready to play again.
Pierre Garcon, WR10/13/2014 5:51:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon continued his inconsistent play on Sunday versus Arizona.
Insight: He had only four catches for 31 yards, but did manage to find the end zone. Garcon has been a hit-or-miss option this season, and should be considered a WR3 moving forward.
Jordan Reed, TE10/13/2014 10:30:00 AM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed returned to action and saw a team-high 11 targets.
Insight: Reed posted eight receptions for 92 yards and sent backup Niles Paul back to the bench.
Alfred Morris, RB10/13/2014 10:28:00 AM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris was a non-factor Sunday against the Cardinals with 41 yards on 14 carries.
Insight: Morris had a big day against a weak Jacksonville defense in Week 2, but other than that he's been a disappointment to fantasy owners.
DeSean Jackson, WR10/13/2014 10:28:00 AM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson has become and all-or-nothing guy and Sunday against Arizona was a good day..
Insight: Jackson caught just three balls, but totaled 115 yards and a touchdown thanks to a 64-yard strike early in the second quarter.
Kirk Cousins, QB10/13/2014 10:25:00 AM
Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 354 yards and two touchdowns, but also was intercepted three times in the fourth quarter.
Insight: Cousins is putting up the yards (314.2 ypg), but he's also been intercepted seven times in the past three games - all losses.
Jordan Reed, TE10/12/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has been cleared to play Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Insight: That's great news, if he is indeed active. He's still likely to be on a snap count and share receiving duties with Niles Paul.
Jordan Reed, TE10/11/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed will see a "decent amount" of snaps if he is active against the Cardinals according to ESPN.
Insight: That's great news, if he is indeed active. Will he be? All signs point to yes, but the Redskins play at 4:25 ET on Sunday, so it will take a small leap of faith to roll with Reed. The Cardinals do give up the sixth most fantasy points in the league. So he has that going for him ... which is nice. Even if he plays, Reed is a boom-or-bust this week.
Jordan Reed, TE10/9/2014 7:08:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed was limited in Thursday's practice but told reporters that he expects to play on Sunday against the Cardinals.
Insight: It will be Reed's first game since Week 1. With Kirk Cousins having a bounce back game against the Legion of Boom on Monday night, Reed is a low-end TE1 this weekend.
Brian Orakpo, LB10/6/2014 9:33:00 PM
Description: Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo left Monday night's game against Seattle with an ankle injury.
Insight: He is questionable to return, and it will be a big loss for Washington if he unable to do so. Rookie Trent Murphy replaced Orakpo at outside linebacker.
Niles Paul, TE10/6/2014 7:42:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Niles Paul (concussion) is active for Monday night's game against the Seahawks.
Insight: Paul is the starter as Jordan Reed is inactive for the fourth straight game. Seattle actually struggles against tight ends, so if there is any player a fantasy owner wants starting against the Seahawks on Monday, it would be Paul.
DeSean Jackson, WR10/6/2014 7:40:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson is officially active on Monday against the Seahawks.
Insight: Jackson has been dealing with a shoulder injury the last couple games, but he will give it a go against the tough Seattle secondary.
Jordan Reed, TE10/6/2014 7:36:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed is inactive for Monday night's game against the Seahawks.
Insight: Reed has not played since the season opener. He practiced a little this week, so he is a strong candidate to return in Week 6. Niles Paul, who suffered a concussion last Thursday, will start in Reed's place.
Jordan Reed, TE10/4/2014 9:33:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed did not practice on Saturday due to his hamstring injury, and he is questionable for Monday night's game against the Seahawks according to CSN Washington.
Insight: Reed was limited in Thursday's and Friday's practices, so this basically means the hamstring has gotten worse. Due to the fact Reed is playing on Monday night, unless Niles Paul is available in your league, you must look elsewhere for a tight end starter in Week 5.
Niles Paul, TE10/3/2014 4:16:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Niles Paul (concussion) was a full participant in Friday's practice and is more likely to get the Sunday gig over Jordan Reed who was limited on Friday.
Insight: Reed practiced in limited fashion, so if both suit up, neither are recommended plays, until we see how Washington will utilize their tight ends.
Jordan Reed, TE10/2/2014 5:16:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) returns to practice Thursday.
Insight: It was only a limited session, but Reed will have a chance to play on Monday night against the Seahawks. He should resume being Washington's top tight end, but if owners have another option, it would be smart to use it this week, with the Redskins playing on Monday night, combined with the fact Niles Paul could still steal snaps.
Niles Paul, TE10/2/2014 5:13:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Niles Paul (concussion) returned to practice on Thursday.
Insight: He got in a limited session, which puts him on track to play Monday against Seattle. Jordan Reed also practiced in limited fashion, so if both suit up, neither are recommended plays, until we see how Washington will utilize their tight ends.
Trent Williams, OT9/26/2014 2:12:00 PM
Description: Washington left tackle Trent Williams injured his knee in Thursday's game and will have an MRI Friday to determine a timetable for his return.
Insight: He's a top tackle and the Redskins can ill-afford to lose him, particularly with the less mobile Kirk Cousins under center.
Niles Paul, TE9/25/2014 9:54:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Niles Paul leaves Thursday's game with possible concussion.
Insight: He was leveled over the middle by Quintin Demps, which resulted in an illegal hit. Paul was on the ground for awhile before being helped to the Redskins' locker room by trainers. He is being evaluated now, but has already been declared out.
DeSean Jackson, WR9/25/2014 7:13:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson is officially active tonight against the Giants.
Insight: He is battling a sprained shoulder, but did not suffer any setbacks this week. Jackson is a WR2 heading into tonight's divisional game.
DeSean Jackson, WR9/25/2014 12:10:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson is expected to play on Thursday against the Giants according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Insight: Jackson played with a sprained shoulder on Sunday against his former team and caught five passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. He did not suffer any setbacks and is ready to go even in a short week. We like him as a WR2 with all the byes, and he is a strong FLEX play against the Giants' 22nd ranked pass defense.
DeSean Jackson, WR9/21/2014 5:37:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson had a 81-yard touchdown catch against his former team on Sunday.
Insight: It was obvious, like everyone thought, that Jackson was pumped up to play in Philadelphia. Jackson caught five passes for 117 yards total, but a majority of his damage came on the 81-yard TD grab.
Pierre Garcon, WR9/21/2014 5:30:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon caught 11 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles on Sunday.
Insight: Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins targeted Garcon an incredible 16 times. After just one catch last week, Garcon now has 22 receptions on the year and the touchdown was his first of the season.
Kirk Cousins, QBHot9/21/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for an incredible 427 yards and three touchdowns in a loss against the Eagles on Sunday.
Insight: Cousins completed 30-of-48 passes and did throw an interception in addition to the three touchdowns. Cousins is proving to be a much better fantasy option than Robert Griffin III. Against the right matchup, Cousins is a clear QB1.
Santana Moss, WR9/21/2014 11:50:00 AM
Description: Washington wide receiver Santana Moss is inactive for Week 3.
Insight: This is the third week he is a healthy scratch.
Robert Griffin III, QB9/21/2014 11:10:00 AM
Description: The return for Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is six to eight weeks according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: Expect Griffin to be out until at least Week 10, at which point the team can decide wheather to return to Griffin or stick with Kirk Cousins. Unless you have an IR spot, it's not worth keeping Griffin in 10 and 12-team formats.
Jordan Reed, TE9/19/2014 3:15:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) will not play in Week 3.
Insight: Reed's absence will be covered by two tight ends. Logan Paulsen will be the primary blocker and Niles Paul will be the receiver. Paul has been a viable fantasy option with 86 yards in Week 1 and 99 yards and a score against jacksonville last Sunday.
Niles Paul, TEHot9/19/2014 3:15:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Niles Paul filled in admirably for the injured Jordan Reed over the first two weeks and is a viable fantasy option in Week 3 against Philadelphia.
Insight: Paul has been a viable fantasy option with 86 yards in Week 1 and 99 yards and a score against Jacksonville last Sunday.
Andre Roberts, WR9/16/2014 2:12:00 PM
Description: Washington wide receiver Andre Roberts had to step up his game after DeSean Jackson went down with a shoulder injury.
Insight: Roberts caught four of his five targets for 57 yards. If Jackson is forced to miss time, Roberts becomes a very reliable fantasy option. However, assuming Jackson is back for Week 3, Roberts will be a valuable asset to the Skins, but not so much for fantasy owners.
Niles Paul, TE9/16/2014 2:06:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Niles Paul filled in admirably for the injured Jordan Reed.
Insight: He came out of nowhere to haul in eight receptions, 99 yards, and a touchdown. With Reed still on the shelf, Paul looks like a solid fill-in option. Paul is a TE2 heading into Week 3 against the Eagles.
Pierre Garcon, WR9/16/2014 2:03:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon was unsually quiet in the team's Week 2 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Insight: Garcon managed only one reception on Sunday, after hauling in 10 passes in Week 1. With Washington pulling away early, he just simply was not as involved as usual, with only four targets. Look for Garcon to get back on track in Philadelphia, during Week 3. Consider him a solid WR2.
Kirk Cousins, QBHot9/16/2014 1:50:00 PM
Description: Redskins Quarterback Kirk Cousins was thrusted into action on Sunday, and made the most of his opportunity.
Insight: The quarterback controversy is offically in full force in Washington, as Cousins led the Skins to a 41-10 victory. He was a major reason why they won by so much, completing 22/33 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. With Robert Griffin III out 4-5 weeks with a bad ankle, Cousins will have the opportunity to not only fill in, but also take hold of the QB postion, atop the depth chart. Cousins will be a borderline QB1 heading into Week 3 at Philadelphia. If he is on your waiver wire, and you need help at QB, he's your guy.
DeSean Jackson, WR9/15/2014 12:06:00 PM
Description: Early indications are Washington receiver DeSean Jackson (shoulder) avoided serious injury and is questionable for Sunday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: Jackson landed on it with a defensive back on top of him while trying to make a first-quarter catch. You know he'll do everything in his power to play against his former team.
Alfred Morris, RBHot9/14/2014 5:02:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Alfred Morris was there when the team, and fantasy owners needed him.
Insight: With RGIII and DeSean Jackson sidelined, Morris came through for 85 yards and a score against a weak Jacksonville defense.
Robert Griffin III, QB9/14/2014 4:46:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III left the field in the first quarter with his left ankle which has been diagnosed as a dislocated left ankle.
Insight: No timetable was given, but if surgery is needed he could be lost for most or all of the season. Kirk Cousins is a quality backup and hopefully fantasy owners had him handcuffed.
Roy Helu Jr., RB9/14/2014 4:08:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu left Sunday's game with a left knee injury.
Insight: We don't know how severe, but he was ruled out for the game. With a big lead, hoever, there was no reason to bring him back anyway, so we will have to wait to find out about the severity.
DeSean Jackson, WR9/14/2014 1:38:00 PM
Description: Washington receiver DeSean Jackson is headed to the locker room to have his left shoulder examined.
Insight: Jackson landed on it with a defensive back on top of him while trying to make a first-quarter catch. His return is unknown at this time.
Robert Griffin III, QB9/14/2014 1:35:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III left the field in the first quarter with his left ankle in an aircast. He appeared in a lot of pain as he was being examined by the doctor
Insight: Kirk Cousins is a quality backup and hopefully fantasy owners had him handcuffed. RGIII will not return.
Santana Moss, WR9/14/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Washington wide receiver Santana Moss is inactive for Week 2.
Insight: Moss isn't injured he's just not playing The Andre Roberts and DeSean Jackson signings pushed him far down the team's depth chart. He can be safely dropped from fantasy rosters.
Jordan Reed, TE9/10/2014 2:18:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback RGIII said tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) would not play in Week 2, according to Mark Long
Insight: Reed's absence will be covered by two tight ends. Logan Paulsen will be the primary bloacker and Niles Paul will be the receiver.
Jordan Reed, TE9/8/2014 3:23:00 PM
Description: Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Monday that tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) could be sidelined "some time."
Insight: Gruden also called the injury "mild" just to drive Reed's fantasy owners crazy. Reed is likely week-to-week, and fantasy owners shouldn't expect him to be ready for Week 2. Reed is a TE1 in 10-12 team leagues but his injury history is starting to become a concern.
Jordan Reed, TE9/7/2014 2:07:00 PM
Description: Redskins tight end Jordan Reed left the game in the first half with a hamstring injury. His return is questionable.
Insight: Reed tried to jump a defender and his leg got caught up. The tight end has talent, but continues to have problems staying on the field.
Santana Moss, WR9/7/2014 12:10:00 PM
Description: Washington wide receiver Santana Moss is inactive for Week 1.
Insight: Moss isn't injured he's just not playing The Andre Roberts and DeSean Jackson signings pushed him far down the team's depth chart.
Robert Griffin III, QB8/23/2014 10:08:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III left the field in the first quarter with his left ankle in an aircast. He appeared in a lot of pain as he was being examined by the doctor
Insight: Kirk Cousins is a quality backup and hopefully fantasy owners had him handcuffed.
Robert Griffin III, QB8/19/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III completed 6-of-9 passes for 112 yards and one interception against Cleveland on Monday night. He also rushed for 24 yards on four carries.
Insight: Griffin's best throw was a deep ball to Andre Roberts, which gained 49 yards. He had a bad interception when the Redskins were driving in the first quarter. On the play, pass rushers flushed Griffin from the pocket, and he failed to set his feet. The quarterback often improvised when pressured and even though head coach Jay Gruden did not draw up any designed runs for his quarterback, Griffin still had four carries. Fantasy owners should be excited about Griffin's upside but still concerned with the amount of hits Griffin is taking when carrying the ball. The Washington Post reports Griffin suffered a minor thigh bruise on Monday night.
DeSean Jackson, WR8/10/2014 9:39:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson (ankle) has returned to a limited practice, according to Tarik El-Bashir of csnwashington.com.
Insight: Jackson, who sprained his ankle last Wednesday, participated in individual drills. Coach Jay Gruden said he expects Jackson to be running and cutting in a couple of days.
Pierre Garcon, WR8/10/2014 9:37:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon (hamstring) returned to practice Saturday, according to the Washington Post.
Insight: Garcon missed the first preseason game, but he said if it was a regular season game he would have played. The 27-year-old had 113 catches and 1,346 yards last season, but it took 184 targets to reach those numbers and he had just five touchdowns. He could see 40 fewer targets this season after the team acquired DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts in the offseason.
Robert Griffin III, QB8/10/2014 1:40:00 PM
Description: ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss says that Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III "didn't look like the best quarterback on his own team" during Washington's joint practices with the New England Patriots this past week.
Insight: Reiss said that Kirk Cousins was better than Griffin in his mechanics, decision-making and running the offense. Griffin has top-five fantasy QB upside, but he's going ninth among quarterbacks in mock drafts because he comes with risks.
Jordan Reed, TE8/10/2014 1:31:00 PM
Description: ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss and the Boston Globe's Ben Volin have both sung Redskins tight end Jordan Reed's praises after Washington's joint practices with the New England Patriots this week.
Insight: Volin said Reed "looks like a star" and "was open all practice," while Reiss said Reed was "one of the best offensive players on the field." The only reason Reed won't return TE1 numbers this season is if he deals with concussions again.
Roy Helu Jr., RB8/8/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu left Thursday's game with a knee injury.
Insight: The team called it "minor" according to beat writer Brian McNally. Helu is the backup for Alfred Morris and his job is safe as the third down and change-of-pace back.
Lache Seastrunk, RB8/8/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Running against third stringers in the fourth quarter, rookie Lache Seastrunk showed speed and moves in rushing for 63 yards on 12 carries.
Insight: His performance may have earned him a shot to play earlier in the next preseason game to see if he can do the same thing against better defenders. He'll be trying to earn one of the final spots in the Washington backfield which means barring multiple injuries he won't have any fantasy value this season.
DeSean Jackson, WR8/6/2014 3:26:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson (ankle) is iffy for Thursday's preseason opener, according to the Washington Post.
Insight: Coach Jay Gruden said Jackson got "cleated" during Wednesday's walkthrough and rolled an ankle. Pierre Garcon is dealing with a hamstring injury, so Washington may be without both of its top receivers Thursday.
Pierre Garcon, WR 8/5/2014 8:49:00 PM
Description: Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon will miss the team's preseason opener Thursday against the Patriots due to a minor hamstring injury. SOURCE: csnwashington.com
Insight: Garcon said if it was a regular season game he would play. The 27-year-old had 113 catches and 1,346 yards last season, but it took 184 targets to reach those numbers and he had just five touchdowns. He could see 40 fewer targets this season after the team acquired DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts in the offseason.
Alfred Morris, RB7/30/2014 6:08:00 PM
Description: Redskins coach Jay Gruden said running back Alfred Morris has "caught the ball very well" during training camp.
Insight: Morris caught just 20 passes for 155 yards combined in his first two seasons while carrying 611 yards for 2,888 yards and 20 TDs. Gruden likes to throw to his running backs so displaying better hands will help Morris stay on the field more often. He's in the RB1 conversation.
Robert Griffin III, QB7/24/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Robert Griffin III may not be utilizing the "read-option" much this season as coach Jay Gruden has never been a fan of this offensive strategy.
Insight: Griffin will still use his feet to get outside on rollouts and should have the green light to take off whenever he needs to, but we're not expecting to see much "read-option" football in D.C. Fantasy owners will want to see this offense in action to determine what effect it will have on RGIII's value, but with his receiving weapons the QB should be a top-six fantasy quarterback in 2014.
Jordan Reed, TE7/4/2014 2:37:00 PM
Description: Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III called tight end Jordan Reed "one of the most talented tight ends in the league."
Insight: Reed certainly is talented, but comes with a couple of caution flags. He's a huge concussion risk and the addition of wideout DeSean Jackson will steal targets. Jackson's speed could also give the tight end more room to work.
Robert Griffin III, QB6/4/2014 12:15:00 PM
Description: According to USA Today's Jim Corbett, Robert Griffin III "looks like a different quarterback" without his knee brace.
Insight: Griffin wasn't up to snuff last season but that's understandable after he rushed back from ACL surgery. Now that Griffin is finally healthy, he should be a top-ten quarterback. Washington receivers Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson will also benefit from Griffin's resurgence.
Colt McCoy, QB4/3/2014 9:29:00 PM
Description: Journeyman Colt McCoy is headed to Washington where he'll compete with Kirk Cousins for a backup job next season.
Insight: McCoy has thrown a combined 18 passes over the last two seasons. He's never been of much use to fantasy owners and should be ignored in all formats.
DeSean Jackson, WR4/2/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: Free agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson has agreed to a multi-year deal with the Washington Redskins.
Insight: While this is certainly a boon to the Washington offense, Jackson will have to work hard to get the same number of targets he saw in Philadelphia (126) as incumbent No. 1 Pierre Garcon led the league in that department with 182. They also have an up-and-coming TE in Jordan Reed.
Alfred Morris, RB3/26/2014 3:21:00 PM
Description: According to John Keim of espn.com, new Redskins coach Jay Gruden says he'd like RB Alfred Morris to be more of a pass catching threat but that he doesn't have "natural hands."
Insight: Gruden said he hopes Morris can get 20-25 catches. He has just 20 in two NFL seasons compared to 611 carries for 2,888 rushing yards (4.7 ypc) and 20 TDs. It's doubtful Gruden will give Morris as many carries as the Shanahans did.
Santana Moss, WR3/11/2014 6:20:00 PM
Description: Washington has retained wide receiver Santana Moss on a one-year deal. SOURCE: NBC's Pro Football Talk
Insight: Moss (42 catches, 452 yards, 2 TD in 2013) is nearing the end of his career and can no longer be relied on for consistent fantasy production. The Andre Roberts signing only pushes him further down on the team's depth chart.
Andre Roberts, WR3/11/2014 4:26:00 PM
Description: Andre Roberts is headed to Washington on a four-year, $16 million deal. SOURCE: Mike Jones, Washington Post
Insight: Today was a big day for the team's receiving corps as Washington also re-signed Santana Moss. Roberts (471 yards, 2 TD in 2013) should be the starter opposite Pierre Garcon with Moss functioning as a situational receiver when the Redskins line up three or four wide.
Brian Orakpo, LB3/4/2014 6:55:00 PM
Description: The Redskins slapped linebacker Brian Orakpo with the franchise tag on Monday. SOURCE: Washington Post
Insight: He was one of six players to receive the tag including fellow Pro Bowlers Jimmy Graham and Greg Hardy. Orakpo (60 tackles, ten sacks in 2013) is hoping to sign a contract extension with Washington sometime this offseason.
Fred Davis, TE2/19/2014 4:28:00 PM
Description: Tight end Fred Davis has been suspended indefinitely without pay for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, the Redskins confirmed.
Insight: The suspension was reported as six games back in January, but it's actually much worse. Davis is about to become a free agent and will probably have trouble finding work. This is his second drug-related suspension.
Jordan Reed, TE2/18/2014 6:46:00 PM
Description: Washington tight end Jordan Reed missed the second half of the 2013 season with concussion symptoms but is now fully recovered. SOURCE: Washington Post
Insight: Reed had been on pace for almost 900 yards before his concussion. If Reed stays healthy, he could be a top-five fantasy tight end in 2014.
DeAngelo Hall, CB2/18/2014 6:39:00 PM
Description: The Redskins and cornerback DeAngelo Hall have agreed to a four-year extension. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Insight: The deal is worth $17 million. It's clear Hall isn't the same player he was when he earned consecutive Pro Bowl nods in 2005-06. The Redskins will probably regret this contract in a few years.
Kirk Cousins, QB2/6/2014 9:00:00 PM
Description: Despite new offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's affinity for Kirk Cousins, it seems unlikely that Cleveland would pursue a trade for the Redskins QB. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: The feeling within the organization is that Brian Hoyer gives the team the best chance to win. Assuming Robert Griffin III returns to his pre-injury self in 2014, Cousins shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues.
Kirk Cousins, QB2/2/2014 11:15:00 AM
Description: With new Redskins head coach Jay Gruden all in on Robert Griffin III, backup quarterback Kirk Cousins has acknowledged that he's open to being traded. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Cousins could solve Cleveland's quarterback problem, though the Browns will probably have a chance to take a quarterback in the draft with the No. 4 overall pick. Cousins owns a mediocre 68.8 quarterback rating in eight career games. Even if he lands a starting job, Cousins will only be worth owning in two quarterback formats.
Fred Davis, TE1/24/2014 6:57:00 PM
Description: Tight end Fred Davis has been suspended six games for violating the league's substance abuse policy. SOURCE: Jason La Canfora, CBS Sports
Insight: It's Davis' second drug-related suspension. This news won't help him find a job in free agency. With Jordan Reed emerging as Washington's top tight end, a reunion with the Redskins seems unlikely.
Robert Griffin III, QB1/9/2014 8:52:00 PM
Description: New Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Robert Griffin III will be his starting quarterback next season. SOURCE: NBC's Pro Football Talk
Insight: Gruden said "there will be no competition." With Griffin's job safe, it's possible that Washington will trade backup Kirk Cousins later this offseason. Cousins finished the 2013 season with 4 TD, 7 INT and a 58.3 quarteback rating in five games.
Joshua Morgan, WR12/29/2013 11:39:00 AM
Description: Washington wide receiver Josh Morgan is inactive for Week 17.
Insight: Morgan has done little to warrant attention from fantasy owners. Santana Moss figures to get the start opposite Pierre Garcon.
