Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is dealing with a bruised foot, according to ESPN.com. He suffered the injury while moving out of the players' dorm at Missouri Western State University.
Insight: "He came down a grassy slope there and just kind of rolled his foot over on the curb," coach Andy Reid said. "We're optimistic about it. Initially there was some concern. He had all the stuff done on it, the X-rays, the MRIs and all that done on it. Everything is clear." Charles sat out the second preseason game and he may miss the third as well, but he should be fine for Week 1.

Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles didn't play Sunday night and may not play next week either.
Insight: It's just the Chiefs being very protective of their best (read only) offensive weapon. Charles rushed for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns on 259 carries and added 70 receptions for 693 yards and seven scores in 15 games last season. He is the total package for fantasy owners and is a option for the No. 1 overall pick.

Description: Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he's comfortable if Jamaal Charles reaches 320 touches for the third straight year, according to USA Today.
Insight: Charles rushed for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns on 259 carries and added 70 receptions for 693 yards and seven scores in 15 games last season. He was the total package for fantasy owners and is a fine No. 1 overall pick.

Description: According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Chiefs and Jamaal Charles have agreed to a new contract and he's headed to training camp now.
Insight: Charles' holdout lasted less than a day. He led the Chiefs in carries, targets and receptions last season and accounted for 1,980 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns, so he deserved a new deal.

7/23/2014 1:39:00 PM
Description: According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles will not report to training camp Wednesday unless there's an unexpected breakthrough in contract negotiations.
Insight: Charles wants a new deal and he deserves one. He led the Chiefs in carries, targets and receptions last season and accounted for 1,980 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns. He's scheduled to make just $3.9 million this season and $6 million in 2015. His holdout shouldn't last long, as Kansas City seems to be open to giving him a new contract.

7/22/2014 9:37:00 PM
Description: KCTV5 is reporting that Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will hold out from training camp in an effort to get a new contract, though the Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs believe Charles will report to camp on Wednesday regardless of whether an extension has been agreed to or not.

Description: The concussion Chiefs Pro Bowl halfback Jamaal Charles suffered in Saturday's loss to the Colts is considered minor. SOURCE: Reid Ferrin, KCChiefs.com
Insight: Charles suffered the injury early in the first quarter. Kansas City was forced to use Knile Davis and Dexter McCluster at running back after Charles went down. Charles finished third in the NFL in rushing this year with 1,287 yards on 259 rushes. His 12 rushing scores this season tied him with Seattle's Marshawn Lynch for most in the league.

1/4/2014 6:30:00 PM
Description: Kansas City will be without star running back Jamaal Charles for the rest of Saturday's game against Indianapolis.
Insight: He's been ruled out with a concussion. It's concerning for the Chiefs' overall playoff outlook but today Charles' absence hasn't affected Kansas City in the slightest. Backup Knile Davis already has two touchdowns on 18 touches and the Chiefs are up 38-10 with about a quarter and a half to go. For now, consider Charles day-to-day.

1/4/2014 4:45:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles went to the locker room early in the first quarter during Saturday's playoff game at Indianapolis to be checked for a concussion.
Insight: Charles carried three times for 18 yards on the first drive but was shaken up on the third carry. He was examined on the sideline and then taken to the locker room. Knile Davis, who had 81 yards and two scores on 27 carries with Charles resting in Week 17, will fill in at running back. Charles is Kansas City's most important player and would be a huge loss if he cannot return.

Description: With Kansas City's playoff fate already decided (they're locked in as the No. 5 seed in the AFC), the Chiefs will sit star running back Jamaal Charles in Week 17. SOURCE: Jay Glazer, Fox Sports
Insight: With nothing to gain from winning and no bye after Week 17, resting Jamaal Charles and Alex Smith is probably in Kansas City's best interest. Knile Davis should get the start at halfback.

Description: With Kansas City's playoff fate already decided (they're locked in as the No. 5 seed in the AFC), the Chiefs could look to rest their starters in Week 17. SOURCE: Terez Paylor, Kansas City Star
Insight: With nothing to gain from winning and no bye after Week 17, resting Jamaal Charles and Alex Smith would probably be in Kansas City's best interest. For the first time all season, neither player will be a recommended fantasy option in Week 17. Knile Davis would get the start at halfback if Charles sits this one out. Chase Daniel would be the quarterback if Smith takes a breather in Week 17.

Hot12/15/2013 7:23:00 PM
Description: Kansas City halfback Jamaal Charles only had 20 rushing yards on eight carries Sunday at Oakland and yet he still turned in 51 fantasy points in standard scoring leagues.
Insight: That's because Charles had eight catches for 195 yards, four receiving scores and one rushing TD. The running back already was the highest scoring non-QB coming into the game, and this mammoth effort should put him into the top-five overall.

12/8/2013 7:07:00 PM
Description: Kansas City halfback Jamaal Charles blew up for 151 yards on 19 carries Sunday in a lopsided win over Washington.
Insight: The win snapped the Chiefs' three-game losing streak. Charles finished with two touchdowns on Sunday. That gives him 13 end zone visits for the season, an average of one touchdown per game.

11/24/2013 6:16:00 PM
Description: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles torched the Chargers for 157 yards (115 rushing, 42 receiving) and two touchdowns Sunday in Kansas City.
Insight: Charles already has a career-high in touchdowns (eight) and should have a chance to reach double-digit scores if he can stay healthy. We'd expect him to have another strong game next week against the Broncos.

10/13/2013 12:06:00 PM
Description: Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles is active for Week 6 after a week of dealing with blisters.
Insight: We told Charles' fantasy owners not worry about his practice time this week and that's what happened. Start him as always.

10/9/2013 2:58:00 PM
Description: Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles didn't practice Wednesday due to blisters on his foot.

Hot9/29/2013 5:54:00 PM
Description: Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles only had 65 yards rushing on 18 carries Sunday against the Giants but he came through in the passing game with 62 yards and a touchdown on five catches.

9/16/2013 10:30:00 AM
Description: Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles wasn't fantastic on Sunday, but given he was dealing with a quad injury, his 55 rushing yards and eight receptions for 48 yards and a score was solid production.
Insight: Charles told the Kansas City Star that he "felt it" (the injury), but that "my job is to go out there and help my team win." He took over the offense on the final drive (eight carries for 47 yards) and kept it away from the Dallas offense. Fantasy owners have to love that attitude.

Description: Kansas City halfback Jamaal Charles will start Sunday's game against Dallas. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: Charles bruised his quad in the opener though he was never in any real danger of missing this week's game. Any way you slice it, he's a top-five fantasy running back.
