Ray Allen exercises player option
Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Heat announced Friday that guard Ray Allen has exercised his player option for the 2013-14 season.
Allen averaged 10.6 points while shooting 54.5 percent on 3-pointers in the NBA Finals. The veteran made his presence felt in Game 6 when his buzzer- beater forced overtime. The Heat went on to beat the San Antonio Spurs in seven games for their second straight title.
In 79 games during the regular season, Allen averaged 10.9 points while shooting 41.9 percent from 3-point range. During the Heat's successful playoff run, he averaged 10.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
The 37-year-old Allen has appeared in 1,227 career games (1,140 starts) with Milwaukee (1996-2003), Seattle (2003-2007), Boston (2007-2012) and Miami, averaging 19.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 40.1 percent from beyond the arc.
The two-time NBA champion and 10-time All-Star selection, Allen has played in 151 playoff games.
