Chicago Bears Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Jimmy Clausen, QB12/22/2014 4:17:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen suffered a concussion against the Lions on Sunday and will miss Week 17 according to the Chicago Tribune.
Insight: Clausen took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Detroit defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah, but didn't miss a snap. Clausen, however, went to the hospital after the game. Jay Cutler will be back under center for Week 17 against the Vikings.
Robbie Gould, K12/22/2014 1:40:00 PM
Description: Bears kicker Robbie Gould sdaid he will not be ready for Week 17.
Insight: Jay Feely will continue to kick for Chicago, but didn't have any field goal opportunities in Week 16 with Jimmy Clausen at quarterback. Of course, Feely didn't get any field goal tries the previous two games with Jay Cutler under center either.
Alshon Jeffery, WR12/21/2014 5:30:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery caught six passes for 72 yards during Sunday's loss against Detroit.
Insight: He also had a touchdown to help out his fantasy owners. Jeffery recorded a team-high 15 targets as well.
Matt Forte, RB12/21/2014 5:29:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte had a nice day on Sunday.
Insight: He totaled 55 rushing yards and 40 receiving yards, and chipped in a score as well. Forte is a reliable RB1.
Jimmy Clausen, QB12/21/2014 5:28:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen threw two touchdowns during Sunday's loss to the Lions.
Insight: Clausen threw for 181 yards and an interception as well, and actually did a decent job. He will likely start Week 17.
Jimmy Clausen, QB12/17/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen will start in Week 16.
Insight: That's how bad it is in Chicago. The Bears $127 million quarterback is headed to the bench in favor of Clausen. It seems highly unlikely Cutler is going anywhere with his massive guaranteed contract for the next two years, so this start isn't a try out for Clausen.
Jay Cutler, QB12/17/2014 7:19:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been benched according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Insight: Hard to believe Cutler is being benched considering he is in his first year of a, seven-year, $127 million contract extension. Cutler has obviously regressed in the second year of Marc Trestman's offense, but with his contract guaranteed for the next two seasons, the Bears are stuck with him, and it seems silly to bench him for journeyman Jimmy Clausen. Regardless, any owners hoping to use Cutler this week are out of luck.
Marquess Wilson, WR12/16/2014 9:56:00 AM
Description: Bears receiver Marquess Wilson had his first chance to really show his stuff with Brandon Marshall sidelined, but the results were up and down.
Insight: Wilson did catch a fourth-quarter touchdown pass, but had just three receptions for 16 yards.
Alshon Jeffery, WR12/16/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery again caught a garbage-time touchdown to turn an ugly game respectable.
Insight: Jeffery should have had a big day, with Brandon Marshall out for the season, but he and Cutler weren't on the same page. Jeffery caught just four of nine targets for 78 yards and the one score.
Jay Cutler, QB12/16/2014 9:49:00 AM
Description: The "bad" Jay Cutler was on display Monday night against New Orleans.
Insight: Cutler had 194 yards passing on 31 attempts with a pair of touchdown passes and three interceptions. It's always a guessing game which Cutler will show up each week and that's a problem in a one-and-done fantasy playoff system.
Matt Forte, RB12/16/2014 9:47:00 AM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte totaled 99 yards from scrimmage, but could get into the end zone.
Insight: Forte has been limited by the floundering Bears offense. He's still a valuable asset because of his receiving skill, but he's been a bit disappointing in this year's fantasy playoffs.
Brandon Marshall, WR12/8/2014 4:45:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall (two broken ribs and a punctured lung) has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Insight: Cowboys safety Barry Church's knee slammed into Marshall's back on a second quarter reception Thursday night. Marquess Wilson figures to move into the starting role and could be a viable fantasy option, though Alshon Jeffery owners could reap the biggest benefit.
Brandon Marshall, WR12/5/2014 2:46:00 PM
Description: Bears beat reporter Jeff Dickerson is reporting wideout Brandon Marshall suffered two broken ribs and an injured lung and will miss Week 15 versus New Orleans.
Insight: Cowboys safety Barry Church's knee slammed into Marshall's back on a second quarter reception. It's likely he'll be out longer than that, possible the remainder of the season.
Marquess Wilson, WR12/5/2014 9:56:00 AM
Description: Bears receiver Marquess Wilson could take on added value is Brandon Marshall is sidelined by what may be broken ribs.
Insight: Wilson was targeted five times in the game against Dallas, catching just two for 19 yards, but he could be the guy who benefits from the Marshall injury.
Alshon Jeffery, WR12/5/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery came on late, during garbage time, to post solid numbers - six receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: Jeffery was questionable while dealing with a hamstring injury, but could become very valuable to fantasy owners if wideout Brandon Marshall is sidelined for any length of time by what NFL.com's Ian Rapoport is reporting may be broken ribs.
Brandon Marshall, WR12/5/2014 9:51:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall left Thursday night's game against the Cowboys after taking a knee to the mid-section and NFL.com's Ian Rapoport is reporting he may have broken ribs.
Insight: Cowboys safety Barry Church's knee slammed into Marshall's back on a second quarter reception. If his ribs are broken, he might be done for the season.
Martellus Bennett, TEHot12/5/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett was jay Cutler's favorite target Thursday night, catching 12 of 15 targets for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: Cutler couldn't get the ball to Brandon Marshall or Alshon Jeffery early on and dumped the ball to his tight end. He continues to do that in the second half after Marshall was injured. Bennett was seen limping back to the huddle on numerous occasions, but it didn't stop him from performing.
Jay Cutler, QB12/5/2014 9:45:00 AM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler wasn't good early, but benefited from a big time final quarter (a.k.a. garbage time).
Insight: Cutler had just 100 passing yards at the break, but finished 32-of-46 for 341 yards and a pair of touchdowns with one interception. Fantasy owners don't really care about how he got there, only that he did.
Matt Forte, RB12/5/2014 9:41:00 AM
Description: For a second consecutive weekend, Bears running back Matt Forte couldn't get anything going on the ground.
Insight: He was given just 13 carries and totaled an ugly 26 yards. At least he got into the end zone in garbage time. He also caught eight balls for 74 yards which is why he's an elite fantasy running back who can post points whether his team is ahead or behind.
Martellus Bennett, TE12/4/2014 10:43:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett left Thursday night's game against the Cowboys with an apparent ankle injury. UPDATE: Bennett has returned to the game.
Insight: Bennett got his foot caught under a Cowboys defender in the process of tackling him. Bennett was limping but walked off the field under his own power.
Brandon Marshall, WR12/4/2014 9:58:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall left Thursday night's game against the Cowboys after taking a knee to the mid-section and NFL.com's Ian Rapoport is reporting he may have broken ribs.
Insight: Cowboys safety Barry Church's knee slammed into Marshall's back on a second quarter reception. If his ribs are broken, he might be done for the season.
Martellus Bennett, TE12/4/2014 7:19:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett is active for Thursday night versus the Cowboys.
Insight: As expected, Bennett will play. He is a TE1 with high upside against the Cowboys, who have been bad at stopping opposing tight ends. Alshon Jeffery is also active and should be starting in most fantasy leagues.
Robbie Gould, K12/4/2014 7:18:00 PM
Description: Bears kicker Robbie Gould is inactive for Thursday's game against the Cowboys.
Insight: This was to be expected. Make sure he is not in your lineup. Jay Feely will kick for Chicago on Thursday.
Lance Briggs, LB12/4/2014 1:50:00 PM
Description: Bears linebacker Lance Briggs (groin injury) is on injured reserve.
Insight: Briggs was a top run defender and his absence will create a big hole, particularly on Thursday against DeMarco Murray and the Cowboys running game.
Martellus Bennett, TE12/4/2014 1:46:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett is probable for Thursday's game against Dallas while dealing with a sore foot.
Insight: Bennett continues to be a borderline TE1 after another solid game Thursday afternoon (109 yards). He'll face a Dallas defense that has been very friendly to tight ends.
Alshon Jeffery, WR12/4/2014 1:36:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Cowboys, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that he will play.
Insight: He has dealt with the injury for most of the season and we always thought he would be able to suit up. Jeffery has scored in each of the last three games and is a must start in Week 14.
Jay Feely, K12/4/2014 1:08:00 PM
Description: Former long-time Arizona kicker Jay Feely has been signed by Chicago and is expected to replace injured Robbie Gould in Week 14.
Insight: Feely went 30-for-36 last season for the Cardinals. It could be a high-scoring affair Thursday night and the weather is expected to be pretty good for a December night in the Windy City, so he's a viable fantasy option.
Alshon Jeffery, WR12/3/2014 1:49:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Cowboys.
Insight: He has dealt with the injury for most of the season, and should be able to suit up. Jeffery will be a WR2.
Robbie Gould, K12/3/2014 1:44:00 PM
Description: Bears kicker Robbie Gould is expected to miss Thursday's game against Dallas with a quad injury.
Insight: Consider him week-to-week. Chicago signed kicker Jay Feely to kick for them for Week 14, and beyond, if needed.
Alshon Jeffery, WR12/2/2014 2:06:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery (67-854-7) didn't practice Tuesday.
Insight: Jeffery has been dealing with a hamstring issue, but we think this is just a preventative measure in a short work/rest week and we expect him to face the Cowboys Thursday night. Still, it's worth watching.
Brandon Marshall, WR11/27/2014 3:56:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall did not do much on Thanksgiving.
Insight: He had six catches for only 42 yards, on 11 targets. Marshall continues to be more of a WR2.
Alshon Jeffery, WR11/27/2014 3:55:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery had a big game against Detroit on Thursday.
Insight: Jeffery recorded nince catches for 71 yards and two touchdowns, on 13 targets. He is a solid WR2.
Martellus Bennett, TE11/27/2014 3:54:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett had a team-high 109 receiving yards in Thursday's loss to the Lions.
Insight: He did so on eight receptions. Bennett continues to be a borderline TE1.
Matt Forte, RB11/27/2014 3:53:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte was borderline non-existent on Thanksgiving Day.
Insight: He rushed only five times for six yards and caught six passes for 52 yards. Forte will look to rebound in Week 14 against Dallas.
Jay Cutler, QB11/27/2014 3:51:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler played well in the first quarter, but fell apart after that, during Thursday's game against Detroit.
Insight: He threw for two touchdowns in the first quarter, but could only help muster three points for the remaining three quarters. Cutler finished with 280 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Chris Conte, S11/27/2014 2:55:00 PM
Description: Bears free safety Chris Conte was forced from Thursday's game with an eye injury.
Insight: Conte is officially out for the game.
Cornelius Washington, DE11/27/2014 2:24:00 PM
Description: Bears reserve defensive end Cornelius Washington left Thursday's game with a chest injury.
Insight: He is officially out for the game.
Brandon Marshall, WR11/27/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall (ankle) is active as expected.
Insight: He is more of a WR2 these days, but Marshall should be in all lineups.
Alshon Jeffery, WR11/23/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery caught a touchdown during Sunday's win against the Buccaneers.
Insight: He had only 3 receptions for 22 yards, so the score saved his day. Jeffery is a WR2 for Week 13.
Brandon Marshall, WR11/23/2014 7:26:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall had only 32 yards on Sunday.
Insight: He did so on just three catches, and will look to rebound Thursday against the Lions.
Martellus Bennett, TE11/23/2014 7:25:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett had a team-high 37 receiving yards.
Insight: Nothing to get excited about, as he had four catches. Bennett has not done much since his hot start, but is still a borderline TE1.
Matt Forte, RB11/23/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte scored two touchdowns in Week 12's win over Tampa Bay.
Insight: He had 23 carries for 89 yards and three receptions for 23 yards. Both scores came on the ground, as he passed Gale Sayers for fourth all-time in rushing touchdowns for the Bears. Well done.
Jay Cutler, QB11/23/2014 7:22:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler did not do much in Sunday's win against the Buccaneers.
Insight: He threw for 130 yards, along with one touchdown, but also lost a fumble. Cutler is inconsistent, making him a borderline QB1.
Lance Briggs, LB11/23/2014 2:58:00 PM
Description: Bears linebacker Lance Briggs left Sunday's game with a groin injury.
Insight: He was injured during a second-quarter collision with Mike Evans. Briggs is officially done for the day.
Brandon Marshall, WR11/23/2014 12:08:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall is officially active for Week 12 against Tampa Bay.
Insight: Marshall has been tending to an ankle injury. but there was no doubt he would suit up. Fire him up as a WR1.
Alshon Jeffery, WR11/23/2014 12:06:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery is active, as expected for Week 12.
Insight: Make sure Jeffery is locked and loaded in all lineups.
Martellus Bennett, TE11/16/2014 5:41:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett was not really involved in the offense on Sunday.
Insight: Bennett caught four passes for 29 yards. After a strong start to the season, Bennett has six receptions for 74 yards the past two weeks.
Brandon Marshall, WR11/16/2014 5:36:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall caught seven balls for 90 yards and two touchdowns against the Vikings.
Insight: Marshall "boxed-out" the Vikings defenders on both his touchdowns. Even with the uneasiness at quarterback for Chicago, Marshall is having a fine fantasy season.
Alshon Jeffery, WR11/16/2014 5:34:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery caught 11 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: Jeffery received 17 targets, which all fantasy owners love to hear. If Cutler can steady himself under center, Jeffery is a borderline WR1 for the rest of the season. However, that's a big if.
Matt Forte, RB11/16/2014 5:29:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte did not scored but had 117 rushing yards on 26 carries versus the Vikings.
Insight: Forte gained 175 total yards on offense. Unfortunately, all the red zone looks went to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Along with Jamaal Charles, Forte continues to be the best fantasy running back in 2014.
Jay Cutler, QB11/16/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler threw for 330 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions on Sunday against the Vikings.
Insight: Despite the two picks, the good Cutler showed up in Week 11. He put the ball in spots where his big receivers could make big plays. Cutler is a low-end QB1 in 12-team leagues going forward.
Marquess Wilson, WR11/14/2014 2:35:00 PM
Description: Bears receiver Marquess Wilson (collarbone) has been activated from the injured reserved/designated for return list.
Insight: Wilson's collarbone broke in two places and he was given a 12-14 week timetable after his Aug. 5 surgery, so he came back on schedule. He'll replace Santonio Holmes at the No. 3 spot behind Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall, but is unlikely to produce fantasy-worthy numbers.
Brandon Marshall, WR11/13/2014 3:39:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall (ankle) was back at practice Thursday and should be ready to go Sunday.
Insight: The ankle he injured was not the same one from earlier this season and we've been optimistic all week that he's be ready to go, but it is obviously still worth monitoring.
Martellus Bennett, TE11/13/2014 3:36:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett was back at practice Thursday.
Insight: Bennett has been dealing with bruised ribs and missing a Wednesday practice is old hat. He should be fine for Sunday's game against the Vikings and improve on last week's disappointing results.
Santonio Holmes, WR11/11/2014 4:28:00 PM
Description: The Bears have released wideout Santonio Holmes.
Insight: Holmes' release likely means third wide receiver Marquess Wilson is ready to return from his collarbone injury. Holmes never caught more than two balls in any game this season and hasn't been a fantasy-worthy asset since 2011 with the Jets.
Brandon Marshall, WR11/10/2014 4:47:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall (ankle) should be fine to play in Week 11.
Insight: The Bears are "very optimistic" regarding his status, but it would not be a surprise if Marshall missed practice-time this week. The ankle he injured was not the same one from earlier this season, but it is obviously an injury worth monitoring.
Martellus Bennett, TE11/10/2014 10:38:00 AM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett was official active for the Sunday night game against Green Bay, but not very.
Insight: Bennett caught two balls for 45 yards. The Bears could do nothing on offense and even less on defense in losing 55-14 to the Packers.
Alshon Jeffery, WR11/10/2014 10:37:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery was a no-show in this 55-14 blowout loss to green Bay.
Insight: He managed six catches for 63 yards, but we expect so much more from the talented wideout.
Jay Cutler, QB11/10/2014 10:33:00 AM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was ugly Sunday night, but some garbage-time yardage helped make his fantasy total more respectable.
Insight: There was nothing respectable about the 55-14 beatdown, but Cutler finished with 272 passing yards and one touchdown with a pair of interceptions.
Brandon Marshall, WR11/10/2014 10:33:00 AM
Description: Down 42-0 at half-time, Bears wideout Brandon Marshall was one of the few guys who appeared to be trying hard in the second half.
Insight: His fantasy owners thank him for not quiting. Marshall finished with 112 yards on eight receptions, but also limped off with a slight ankle sprain. It didn't appear serious.
Matt Forte, RB11/10/2014 10:31:00 AM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte had a rare poor outing Sunday against Green Bay.
Insight: The Bears couldn't do anything on offense and Forte (17 rushes for 54 yards) was caught up in the mess. Considering how well he has played this season he certainly has earned a "pass."
Martellus Bennett, TE11/9/2014 7:19:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett is active for the Sunday night game against Green Bay.
Insight: We never saw this rib issue keeping him out of Sunday's matchup with division rival Green Bay. Bennet has been a solid contributor this season with 47 receptions for 517 yards and five scores in eight games.
Martellus Bennett, TE11/6/2014 3:00:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett has been added to the injury report with bruised ribs.
Insight: We don't see this keeping him out of Sunday's matchup with division rival Green Bay. Bennet has been a solid contributor this season with 47 receptions for 517 yards and five scores in eight games.
Marquess Wilson, WR11/3/2014 3:04:00 PM
Description: Bears receiver Marquess Wilson (collarbone) is not yet ready to return from the injured reserve list, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
Insight: Wilson's collarbone broke in two places and he was given a 12-14 week timetable after his Aug. 5 surgery, so he should be getting close.
Brandon Marshall, WR10/26/2014 7:26:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall was not a factor in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.
Insight: He had only three catches for 35 yards, frustrating fantasy owners yet again. As of now, consider Marshall a WR2.
Alshon Jeffery, WR10/26/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery scored his third touchdown of the season.
Insight: He managed five catches for 59 yards, and is really more of a WR2, at this point in time.
Martellus Bennett, TE10/26/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett led the team in receiving druing Week 8's loss to New England.
Insight: He had six receptions for 95 yards and a score. It was Bennett's first touchdown since Week 3, a nice sight for owners.
Matt Forte, RBHot10/26/2014 7:21:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte had another productive day on Sunday.
Insight: He had 114 rushing yards on 19 carries, along with 54 receiving yards on six catches. Forte also caught a touchdown, and is clearly an RB1 for the rest of the season.
Jay Cutler, QB10/26/2014 7:20:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler had a decent fantasy-day, despite being blown out 51-23, on Sunday.
Insight: Cutler was 20-of-30 for 227 yards, three touchdowns, one interception, and one fumble lost. He will continue to be a borderline QB1 for 2014.
Kyle Fuller, CB10/26/2014 3:24:00 PM
Description: Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller left Sunday's game after aggravating his hip injury.
Insight: He went down in the first half and is technically questionable to return, but Fuller has yet to see the field in the second half. Losing him for an extended period time would be a huge blow to Chicago's defense.
Martellus Bennett, TE10/26/2014 12:12:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett (hamstring) is active for Week 8's matchup against the Patriots.
Insight: There really wasn't much question about his availability, and now Bennett will look to get back on track against a banged up linebacker group, from New England.
Martellus Bennett, TE10/23/2014 5:24:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett returned to practice on Thursday according to the Chicago Tribune.
Insight: Bennett got a limited practice session in on Thursday, so he is on track to play in Week 8. He has not scored since Week 3, but he continues to get catches and yards. If someone other than Matt Forte scores against New England this week, it will likely be Bennett since the giant Bears receivers draw Darrelle Revis.
Martellus Bennett, TE10/22/2014 2:57:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett (hamstring) was absent from Wednesday's practice.
Insight: He played his normal amount of stats during Week 7 against Miami, so it is tough to figure out when he got hurt. Assuming Bennett is able to return to practice this week, he will be a low-end TE1 for Week 8 against the Patriots.
Martellus Bennett, TE10/19/2014 7:02:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett had 58 receiving yards on Sunday versus Miami.
Insight: Bennett had five catches but did not score as Matt Forte scored both of the Chicago touchdowns. He is still a TE1 in all formets.
Brandon Marshall, WR10/19/2014 7:00:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall caught six balls for 48 yards against the Dolphins.
Insight: Marshall had a huge size advantage over the Miami corners, but he and Alshon Jeffery could not take advantage. The two receivers combined for 57 receiving yards.
Matt Forte, RBHot10/19/2014 6:52:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte scored two more touchdowns against the Dolphins on Sunday.
Insight: Forte had 18 touches for 109 yards. He had a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown. Forte is up there with DeMarco Murray as the best fantasy running back of the first half.
Jay Cutler, QB10/19/2014 6:47:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler had two more turnovers against the Dolphins.
Insight: Cutler threw an interception and lost a fumble, which set up the Dolphins in great field position. Cutler was 21-of-34 with 190 yards and a touchdown as well.
Martellus Bennett, TE10/13/2014 5:54:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett had 52 receiving yards during Sunday's win against Atlanta.
Insight: He did so on four catches. While his numbers have took a little bit of a hit over the past two weeks, Bennett maintains his TE1 status, in Chicago's high-octane offense.
Matt Forte, RBHot10/13/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte did everything Sunday against Atlanta.
Insight: Forte rushed 17 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns and caught a team-high 10 balls for 77 yards. Forte has 775 yards from scrimmage in six games (129.6 ypg).
Brandon Marshall, WR10/13/2014 10:43:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall caught six balls for 113 yards.
Insight: It was Marshall's first 100-yard day of the season after hitting the mark six times last season.
Alshon Jeffery, WR10/13/2014 10:42:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery caught five balls for a team-high 136 yards.
Insight: Jeffery and teammate Brandon Marshall both went over the 100-yard mark for the first time this season.
Jay Cutler, QBHot10/13/2014 10:40:00 AM
Description: Bears QB Jay Cutler threw for 381 yards, but just one touchdown.
Insight: Cutler distributed the ball evenly between his two star receivers, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery and his favorite outlet receiver, Matt Forte.
Alshon Jeffery, WR10/5/2014 5:59:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery caught a touchdown against the Panthers on Sunday.
Insight: Chicago again utilized Jeffery in the flat as he caught a short pass and ran it over 30 yards to pay dirt. Jeffery finished with six catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Matt Forte, RB10/5/2014 5:53:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte gained 166 yards of total offense and had one touchdown against the Panthers on Sunday.
Insight: Forte led the Bears in rushing and receiving. He had 17 carries for 61 yards and 12 receptions for 105 yards. His touchdown came through the air. He was likely considered a top-four running back along with LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles, and Adrian Peterson. Among those guys, Forte has been the most consistent this season.
Chris Conte, S10/5/2014 1:57:00 PM
Description: Bears free safety Chris Conte left Sunday's game against the Panthers with a head injury.
Insight: The training staff is evaluating him for a concussion. Danny McCray and Brock Vereen will replace Conte.
Brandon Marshall, WR10/5/2014 11:56:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall is active for Week 5 against the Panthers.
Insight: Marshall apparently looked good in warmups on Sunday and is close to 100 percent. Start him with confidence.
Jared Allen, DE10/5/2014 11:54:00 AM
Description: Bears defensive end Jared Allen is listed as probable for Week 5 against the Panthers. UPDATE: Allen is active for Week 5.
Insight: Chicago sure missed Allen's pass rushing ability against the Packers last week. They hope to have him back against Cam Newton and the Carolina offense.
Jeremiah Ratliff, DT10/5/2014 11:54:00 AM
Description: Jeremiah "Jay" Ratliff is inactive against the Panthers in Week 5.
Insight: Fellow defensive player Sherrick McManis joins Raliff on the Week 5 inactive list. Ratliff suffered a concussion in Week 2 and has not returned.
Brandon Marshall, WR10/1/2014 9:03:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall practiced in full on Wednesday.
Insight: This is great news for Marshall owners. He has been a bit of a decoy over the past two games, but if his ankle is getting healthy, he will no doubt be a strong WR1 moving forward.
Matt Forte, RB9/28/2014 5:09:00 PM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte rushed 23 times for 122 yards and caught four passes for 34 yards in Sunday's loss to the Packers.
Insight: It was clear Chicago was trying to establish something on the ground as 19 of their first 33 plays were runs. Forte did fail to find the end zone again, so a quarter of the way through the year, Forte is still scoreless.
Martellus Bennett, TE9/28/2014 5:01:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Martellus Bennett led the team with 11 targets, nine catches and 134 receiving yards against the Packers in Week 4.
Insight: Bennett nearly scored as well, but the Packers tackled him near the goal line as time expired in the first half. Bennett has definitely become a TE1 and is close to stud status. He must be in the lineup every single week.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/28/2014 11:56:00 AM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall is active for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Insight: Marshall is still a bit risky as he did not practice all week. If you have a better option, it's ok to go with another receiver over Marshall, but if the Bears wide out is your only choice, there are certainly worse options.
Jared Allen, DE9/28/2014 11:54:00 AM
Description: Bears defensive end Jared Allen is inactive for Week 4 against the Packers.
Insight: Chicago has just been killed by injuries early this season. Joining Allen, outside linebacker Shea McClellin, corner back Sherrick McManis, defensive tackle Jay Ratliff and offensive linemen Roberto Garza and Matt Slauson are also inactive on Sunday.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/26/2014 2:59:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall missed practice again on Friday and is listed as questionable.
Insight: Marshall will likely be a true game-time decision on Sunday. He's played before without practicing, so fantasy owners will just have to wait ... and have a backup plan in place,
Jeremiah Ratliff, DT9/26/2014 2:58:00 PM
Description: Jeremiah "Jay" Ratliff will miss a second consecutive game due to a concussion.
Insight: Ratliff suffered the concussion in Week 2 and will miss Sunday versus division rival Green Bay.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/25/2014 2:47:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall is still not practicing on Thursday due to his ankle injury according to ESPN Chicago.
Insight: Marshall will likely be questionable and a true game-time decision on Sunday. The good news is the Bears play at 1 pm EST this Sunday rather than in prime time on Sunday or Monday. We would check back to see if Marshall practices on Friday, but we would not be surprised if Chicago decides to protect Marshall from further aggravating the injury and not let him play.
Shea McClellin, LB9/22/2014 7:41:00 PM
Description: Outside linebacker Shea McClellin is inactive for the Monday night game against the Jets.
Insight: Chicago has also deactivated cornerback Sherrick McManis, defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff and offensive lineman Roberto Garza and Matt Slauson. Defensive end Jared Allen and free safety Chris Conte are active.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/19/2014 9:35:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall left Monday night's game in the middle of the second quarter with an injury. UPDATE: Marshall is listed as questionable to return.
Insight: Marshall stayed down on the field after blocking on an end-around run with about seven minutes left in the first half. It looked like the training staff was checking his ankle. He left the field under his own power but went into the locker room for further tests.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/19/2014 2:40:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall (hamstring) has missed the last few practices, but is still expected to play Monday against the Jets.
Insight: We saw last week, Marshall doesn't have to practice to post big numbers, so it should be no surprise that the Bears are limiting him during the week,
Jay Cutler, QB9/16/2014 12:08:00 PM
Description: Bears QB Jay Cutler didn't put up many yards (176), but came up big when his team needed it with four touchdown passes.
Insight: Cutler can be excused for not throwing for 350 yards as he did in Week 1 as his two top receivers, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, could barely run due to hamstring issues.
Matt Forte, RB9/16/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Bears running back Matt Forte had a tough night against San Francisco's front seven, rushing for just 21 yards, on 12 carries.
Insight: Forte couldn't break loose receiving either, catching five balls for just 15 yards. We'll chalk this one up to a defensive game plan designed to stop the two healthiest threats - Forte and Martellus Bennett. Forte will face a tough Jets defense, ranked third in yards allowed, in Week 3, so be prepared for more of the same.
Charles Tillman, CB9/15/2014 4:05:00 PM
Description: Bears CB Peanut Tillman left Sunday night's game against San Francisco with an apparent triceps injury and will be placed on injured reserve ending his season.
Insight: Tillman is a two-time Pro Bowler, who missed time in 2013 with the same injury. This is a significant blow to the Bears defense.
Brandon Marshall, WRHot9/15/2014 2:48:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall (hamstring) did not look very fast, but he adapted his game and made a great night of it with three touchdown receptions.
Insight: With his hamstring injury, he couldn't out-run the defensive backs, but he used his big body and strong hands to out-manuever them. Marshall finished the night with five receptions for just 48 yards, but three touvhdowns which may have turned around the Bears season.
Charles Tillman, CB9/14/2014 11:06:00 PM
Description: Bears CB Peanut Tillman left Sunday night's game against San Francisco with an apparent triceps injury.
Insight: Tillman is a two-time Pro Bowler, who missed time in 2013 with the same injury.
Alshon Jeffery, WR9/14/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery did not practice Thursday, was a limited participant in Friday's session, but is active for Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Insight: Santonio Holmes could see more work, but with both Jeffery and Brandon Marshall active you can't start him.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/14/2014 7:22:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall did not practice all week, but he's active for the game.
Insight: The wideout has played while not practicing and he certainly knows the plays well enough to step right into the game, so we are happy to start him. Alshon Jeffery is also active, so Santonio Holmes should not be started.
Josh Bellamy, WR9/13/2014 5:33:00 PM
Description: The Bears have signed wide receivers Josh Bellamy and Chris Williams from their practice squad.
Insight: This is not good news for Brandon Marshall and Alson Jeffery owners. Both might miss Sunday's game against the 49ers. Tight end Martellus Bennett and receiver Santonio Holmes will likely be quarterback Jay Cutler's top two targets in Week 2.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/12/2014 2:26:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall did not practice again Friday.
Insight: The wideout has played while not practicing and he certainly knows the plays well enough to step right into the game, but its a concern. Alshon Jeffery has also missed practice. In fact, only Santonio Holmes appears to be completely healthy for the Bears receiving corps.
Alshon Jeffery, WR9/12/2014 2:22:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery did not practice Thursday, but was a limited participant in Friday's session.
Insight: Bears beat writer Rich Campbell received a less-than-enthusiastic, "We'll see," when asked if he was ready for Monday night. Looks like a game-time decision, but as the last game it makes it tough on fantasy owners. Santonio Holmes might see a bump in targets.
Alshon Jeffery, WR9/11/2014 3:43:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery did not practice again on Thursday.
Insight: Jeffery was forced out of Sunday's game in the fourth quarter and missed all of the overtime with a hamstring issue. With Marshall hurt as well, it is quite possible the Bears play against the 49ers on Sunday with Santonio Holmes being Jay Cutler's No. 1 target. Check on Friday to see if Jeffery returns to practice and obviously if only one of them plays Sunday night, he should see an increase in targets.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/11/2014 3:40:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall did not practice again Thursday.
Insight: Marshall said he "hopes" to test out his sore ankle on Friday. The wideout has played through minor injuries his entire career, but this sounds different. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status to see if he suits up against the 49ers.
Alshon Jeffery, WR9/10/2014 3:26:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery did not practice Wednesday.
Insight: Jeffery was forced out of Sunday's game in the fourth quarter and missed all of the overtime with a hamstring issue. It's still early in the week, but should be watched.
Brandon Marshall, WR9/10/2014 3:19:00 PM
Description: Bears wideout Brandon Marshall did not practice Wednesday.
Insight: Marshall fought through a sore ankle last week, but is expected to be ready to go for Week 2. If running mate Alshon Jeffery isn't healthy, Marshall could be in for a big second week after catching eight balls for 71 yards and a score in the opener.
Roberto Garza, C/G9/9/2014 3:11:00 PM
Description: Bears center Roberto Garza suffered a high-ankle sprain and is in a walking boot.
Insight: Chicago's offensive line is dealing with multiple injuries with left guard Matt Slauson also dealing with an ankle spain.
Jay Cutler, QB9/7/2014 6:18:00 PM
Description: A typical Jay Cutler afternoon, alternately looking very good and very bad.
Insight: Cutler threw for 349 yards and two scores, but also threw a pair of interceptions in a 23-20 loss to Buffalo.
Matt Slauson, G9/7/2014 2:25:00 PM
Description: Bears left guard Matt Slauson left Sunday's game against the Bills with an ankle injury.
Insight: The Bears took Slauson into the locker room in the second quarter and is questionable to return. Michael Ola replaced him at left guard.
Ka'Deem Carey, RB9/3/2014 7:53:00 PM
Description: According to coach Marc Tresman, rookie running back Ka'Deem Carey is the No. 2 back behind starter Matt Forte.
Insight: This is a change from earlier in the preseason when veteran Shaun Draughn was thought to be the handcuff.
Armanti Edwards, WR8/30/2014 9:24:00 PM
Description: Wide receiver Armanti Edwards is now 0-for-3 teams in his attempt to find a niche in the NFL.
Insight: The former Appalachian State QB and two-time Walter Payton Award winner was waived by the Chicago Bears Saturday.
Jordan Palmer, QB8/25/2014 10:56:00 AM
Description: The Bears have waived QB Jordan Palmer.
Insight: Palmer has only played in four games since 2008. The move makes Jimmy Clausen the "handcuff" to oft-injured Jay Cutler.
Jimmy Clausen, QB8/24/2014 6:50:00 PM
Description: Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen has won the backup job to starter Jay Cutler.
Insight: Jordan Palmer was cut Sunday. Clausen hasn't thrown a pass since he had 1,558 yards, three touchdowns and nine picks on 299 attempts (52.5 completion percentage, 5.21 yards per attempt) as a rookie in 2010. Of course, coach Marc Trestman also helped journeyman Josh McCown turn into a viable fantasy quarterback last season and Cutler has missed 12 games over the last three years.
Marquess Wilson, WR8/18/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: Bears receiver Marquess Wilson (collarbone) is likely to be sidelined until at least midseason, according to USA Today.
Insight: Wilson's collarbone broke in two places and he was given a 12-14 week timetable after his Aug. 5 surgery. He was expected to serve as Chicago's No. 3 receiver this season, but newly signed Santonio Holmes may have to fill that role. Wilson's absence will lead to more targets for tight end Martellus Bennett.
Santonio Holmes, WR8/18/2014 4:36:00 PM
Description: USA Today reports that Bears third wide receiver Marquess Wilson will be sidelined at least 12 to 14 weeks with his broken collarbone, which gives veteran receiver Santonio Holmes a chance to be more than just an injury replacement for a couple weeks. Chicago signed Holmes on Saturday. The Chicago Bears have signed receiver Santonio Holmes.
Insight: Holmes will still compete with fellow receivers Josh Morgan and Eric Weems for the Bears' No. 3 wide out job. If the 30-year-old has anything left in the tank, Holmes should run away with the job. Holmes struggled to stay on the field the last two seasons in New York, playing just 15 games and catching 43 balls for 728 yards with two touchdowns.
Santonio Holmes, WR8/16/2014 2:41:00 PM
Description: The Chicago Bears have signed receiver Santonio Holmes.
Insight: The Bears needed receiver depth after losing Marquess Wilson to a broken collarbone. Holmes will compete with Josh Morgan for the third receiver job, though the player who wins will only be keeping the seat warm for Wilson.
Zach Miller, TE8/15/2014 3:29:00 PM
Description: Bears tight end Zach Miller may have suffered ligament damage in Thursday's preseason matchup with Jacksonville, according to an Ian Rapoport report. X-rays were negative, but he'll have an MRI on his foot.
Insight: Miller caught six catches for 62 yards and a touchdown last week with Martellus Bennett suspended, but this could leave him sidelined.
Jay Cutler, QB8/14/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Quarterback Jay Cutler looked solid again in his preseason opener going 7-for-9 for 75 yards and a touchdown to Brandon Marshall.
Insight: With two great targets at wide receiver and solid tight end play from either Martellus Bennett it could be a big season for Cutler if he can just play a complete season.
Kyle Fuller, CB8/14/2014 10:29:00 PM
Description: Bears first-round pick Kyle Fuller left Thursday night's game with an ankle injury.
Insight: It didn't appear to be too serious as he was seen walking around. He's the team's No. 3 corner and given they have to play Aaron Rodgers and Matthew Stafford twice a year they need to stay healthy in the secondary.
Martellus Bennett, TE8/10/2014 7:29:00 PM
Description: Chicago tight end Martellus Bennett has been reinstated.
Insight: The Bears suspended him indefinitely for getting into an on-field fight with rookie first-round pick Kyle Fuller. His suspension lasted five days. The 27-year-old has the physical tools to be a top tight end, but he's behind Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte in the passing hierarchy. His 2013 numbers -- 65 catches, 759 yards, five touchdowns -- represent his 2014 ceiling.
Zach Miller, TE8/9/2014 10:29:00 AM
Description: Bears tight end Zach Miller took advantage of Martellus Bennett's absence to show he can work well alongside Jay Cutler.
Insight: Miller caught a touchdown pass from Cutler and backup Jordan Palmer in the first half and finished the night with six catches for 62 yards. If the team tires of Bennett's antics he could be useful to fantasy owners.
Jay Cutler, QB8/9/2014 10:26:00 AM
Description: Quarterback Jay Cutler looked solid in his preseason opener going 9-for-13 for 88 yards and a score.
Insight: More importantly, he didn't throw an interception, take a sack or get hurt. With two great targets at wide receiver and solid tight end play from either martellus Bennet of Zach Miller it could be a big season for Cutler if he can just play a complete season.
Martellus Bennett, TE8/5/2014 2:34:00 PM
Description: Chicago tight end Martellus Bennett has been fined and suspended by the Bears for "conduct detrimental to the team."
Insight: We don't know for how long, but it appears to be the result of an altercation with rookie Kyle Fuller at Monday's practice. He remains a low-end TE1, unless these problems continue.
Marquess Wilson, WR8/4/2014 7:55:00 PM
Description: Bears receiver Marquess Wilson suffered a fractured collarbone Monday, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
Insight: There's no timetable for his return right now, but it's usually a 6-8 week injury. Wilson is expected to step into the third receiver role when healthy, but he likely won't have fantasy value barring an injury to Brandon Marshall or Alshon Jeffery.
Jimmy Clausen, QB7/18/2014 9:29:00 PM
Description: ESPN.com's Michael C. Wright says that Jimmy Clausen "appears poised to unseat" Jordan Palmer for the backup QB job.
Insight: Clausen hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL since his rookie year in 2010, when he had a 3/9 TD/INT ratio and a .525 completion percentage. But remember that Josh McCown was a journeyman with a 37/44 TD/INT prior to putting up a 13/1 TD/INT and a .665 completion percentage in Bears coach Marc Trestman's offense last season. Bears starter Jay Cutler has missed 13 games over the past four years.
Brian Urlacher, LB6/2/2014 8:28:00 PM
Description: The Cowboys have looked into signing former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher. SOURCE: Ed Werder, ESPN
Insight: Dallas is looking to replace Sean Lee, who went down a torn ACL last week at practice. Urlacher retired last year and to our knowledge is not considering a comeback. We're guessing nothing will come of this.
Brandon Marshall, WR5/19/2014 4:18:00 PM
Description: It looks like Jay Cutler's top receiving target Brandon Marshall is staying put.
Insight: Marshall just agreed to a three-year, $30 million extension. He's caught at least 100 balls in each of his last four seasons with Cutler at quarterback, including 100 receptions for 1,295 yards and 12 TDs last season.
Jordan Lynch, RB5/12/2014 8:06:00 PM
Description: After going undrafted, Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch was quickly scooped up by the Bears. SOURCE: Adam Caplan, ESPN
Insight: He'll try his hand at running back. Lynch has adequate size (6-foot, 216 pounds) but his speed (4.76 40-yard dash) is below average for the position.
Jared Allen, DE3/26/2014 3:03:00 PM
Description: Although he appeared to be close to signing with the Seahawks last week, DE Jared Allen signed a four-year, $32 million contract with the Bears on Wednesday.
Insight: Chicago released Julius Peppers and watched him sign with the Packers, so they picked up Allen from the Vikings, another NFC North rival. Allen played 16 games and had at least 11 sacks all six years he was in Minnesota.
Earl Bennett, WR3/18/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: The Bears cut wide receiver Earl Bennett on Tuesday. SOURCE: Jeff Dickerson, ESPN Chicago
Insight: This comes after Bennett refused to take a paycut. Bennett won't be hard to replace after hauling in just 32 catches last season. Fantasy owners shouldn't be considering Bennett as a viable option, regardless of what team he ends up with.
Charles Tillman, CB3/15/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: The Bears were able to re-sign CB Peanut Tillman to a one-year contract. SOURCE: Gregg Rosenthal, NFL.com
Insight: Tillman has been to the Pro Bowl twice in his last three seasons. He's sixth among active players in interceptions (36) and hasn't had fewer than three picks in a season since 2009. Tillman turned 33 in February.
M.D. Jennings, S3/12/2014 3:10:00 PM
Description: Former Packers safety M.D. Jennings has agreed to a one-year contract with Chicago.
Insight: Jennings has had an up and down start to his career. In three seasons with Green Bay, he made 133 tackles with one interception and one forced fumble. Opposing quarterbacks have never been afraid to throw in his direction.
Josh McCown, QB3/12/2014 10:41:00 AM
Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Bears quarterback Josh McCown is likely to end up either in Houston or Tampa Bay.
Insight: The Texans are looking at McCown as a stop gap for whatever rookie quarterback they end up drafting in May. Of course, McCown would be reunited with former Chicago coach Lovie Smith if he signed with the Buccaneers. The Jets are also said to be interested in McCown, though Schefter considers them a longshot.
Julius Peppers, DE3/11/2014 8:01:00 PM
Description: The Bears cut ties with right end Julius Peppers on Tuesday.
Insight: Today has been absolute carnage across the league as we've already seen DeMarcus Ware, Peppers and Thomas DeCoud get cut with Darrelle Revis likely to follow. The move gives Chicago about $8 million in cap relief. Peppers is 17th on the NFL's all-time sack list with 119 takedowns in 186 career games.
Julius Peppers, DE3/10/2014 8:35:00 PM
Description: The Bears are looking to trade defensive end Julius Peppers this offseason. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Very few teams would be willing to take on Peppers' $20 million salary, which means he's probably going to get cut. The 34-year-old collected 7.5 sacks last season, his fewest since 2007 when he was still with Carolina.
Michael Bush, RB3/10/2014 8:29:00 PM
Description: Goal line halfback Michael Bush was cut by the Bears on Monday. SOURCE: Brad Biggs, Chicago Tribune
Insight: Bush totaled just 197 yards on 63 carries in 2013. After vulturing five touchdowns from Matt Forte in 2012, that figure dropped to just three last season. He's not a fantasy candidate.
Devin Hester, WR3/6/2014 5:20:00 PM
Description: The Bears have decided not to pursue Devin Hester in free agency. SOURCE: NFL Network
Insight: Hester never cut it as a receiver and it looks like he's going to be used exclusively on special teams wherever he ends up. Despite being arguably the greatest return man in NFL history, Hester isn't a fantasy option.
Jeremiah Ratliff, DT3/5/2014 8:38:00 PM
Description: Jeremiah "Jay" Ratliff has signed a two-year deal with Chicago.
Insight: Ratliff is still good enough to start but he isn't the game changer that he used to be. His last Pro Bowl appearance came in 2011.
Josh McCown, QB1/19/2014 4:05:00 PM
Description: Soon-to-be free agent Josh McCown is not considering retirement. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Why would he? The 34-year-old McCown should be one of the most sought after quarterbacks on the open market this offseason. His 109.0 QB rating this past season for Chicago was a career-high.
Jay Cutler, QB1/2/2014 11:40:00 AM
Description: Quarterback Jay Cutler will remain with the Bears after agreeing to a seven-year deal.
Insight: Cutler averaged 238.3 ypg his highest total since leaving Denver in 2008. With Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte catching his passes, Cutler should continue to be a productive fantasy option.
Earl Bennett, WR12/29/2013 1:14:00 PM
Description: Chicago receiver Earl Bennett isn't expected to play Sunday against Green Bay. SOURCE: Brad Biggs, Chicago Tribune
Insight: He's been away from the team for almost a week while dealing with an undisclosed personal matter. Jay Cutler still has Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall to throw to so Bennett's absence shouldn't alter Chicago's game plan too much in Week 17.
Robbie Gould, K12/27/2013 8:02:00 PM
Description: The Bears inked kicker Robbie Gould to a four-year extension on Friday. SOURCE: NBC's Pro Football Talk
Insight: The $15 million deal is the largest ever for an NFL kicker. With 26 field goals on 29 tries this season, he's certainly worth the money.
