NBA Game Summary - Philadelphia at Golden State

(Friday, December 28th)

Final Score: Golden State 96, Philadelphia 89

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - David Lee paced a balanced Golden State attack with 25 points and 12 rebounds as the Warriors held off the Philadelphia 76ers, 96-89, on Friday.

Carl Landry also contributed a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards, while Jarrett Jack added 16 points, Klay Thompson poured in 14, Stephen Curry scored 11 and Harrison Barnes finished with 10 for the Warriors, who have won two straight.

"We've been consistent whether we are home or on the road," Warriors coach Mark Jackson remarked. "We play with an edge; we play with a belief and now our job is just to chalk them up in the win column. Mission accomplished tonight."

Jrue Holiday had 21 points and 10 assists, and Thaddeus Young finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Philadelphia, which lost for the seventh time in nine games.

Golden State held a 57-42 advantage at the break and stretched its lead up to as much as 20 in the third quarter before the Sixers closed out the third with a 19-8 run to get back within 80-71 entering the fourth.

Philadelphia carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, opening the frame with a 9-4 push to get back within 84-80 on Royal Ivey's 3-pointer.

But Lee answered with six straight points before Landry capped the 8-0 spurt with a dunk to essentially put the game away.

A 9-1 push brought the Sixers back within 91-89 with 24.2 seconds left in the game, but Jack made the front end of two free throws and Charles Jenkins sank a pair from the foul line around a Dorell Wright turnover to account for the final margin.

"We were just fighting uphill and they hit enough shots," Sixers coach Doug Collins lamented.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 6-1 lead before the Sixers reeled off an 18-7 spurt to go on top, 19-13.

Golden State, however, responded with a 12-5 run to carry a 25-24 edge into the second quarter on Jack's jumper as time expired in the frame.

It remained a one-possession game over the opening five minutes of the second until a Jack 3-pointer was followed by a Curry layup to give the Warriors a 38-32 lead with about six minutes left in the half.

Philadelphia scored the next four points to close its gap to two before Golden State closed out the second quarter with a 19-6 trek to take a 57-42 lead into the break.
