Insight: He was dealing with an oblique injury, but showed no ill-effects on Friday. Shoemaker went six innings, allowing an unearned run on five hits, while striking out six. Kevin Jepsen took the loss in the extras, giving up three runs (two earned), in 2/3 of an inning.

Insight: The removal from the game seemed to be precautionary, as the Angels were up 8-1 at the time. However, the fact that he needs to be checked out is a little alarming. Nevertheless, Shoemaker was fantastic on Monday night. He went 7 2/3 innings, allowing only one earned run, and improving his record to 16-4 with a 3.04 ERA. Assuming everything comes back clean, Shoemaker has another favorable matchup on Saturday, against the Ramgers.

Insight: All signs point to Shoemaker continuing his stellar play. Not only is he 2-0 with a 2.04 ERA over his past three starts, Shoemaker has also been dominant since the All-Star break (8-2, 1.95 ERA) and at home (8-3 2.20 ERA). Insight: Hector Santiago will move to the bullpen. Shoemaker has been very good in three of his last four starts, but he gave up eight runs on 11 hits at Kansas City on June 27 and has a 4.35 ERA overall in 14 appearances (nine starts). The 27-year-old also has a career 4.52 ERA in 786 2/3 minor league innings.

Insight: Cleveland managed just two runs against him in eight innings. Shoemaker's ten strikeouts Tuesday were a career-high. Fantasy owners shouldn't get too attached as top prospect Tyler Skaggs is expected to take Shoemaker's place in the starting rotation later this week.

Insight: Shoemaker made it through five innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs. Tuesday was the 27-year-old's second major league start and his first of the 2014 season. The Angels haven't announced who their starter will be Sunday versus Tampa Bay but don't be surprised if Shoemaker gets the nod.
