Final Score: Los Angeles 12, Pittsburgh 2
Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Hanley Ramirez went 4-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 12-2 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third installment of a four-game series on Saturday.
"Hanley has found something and I hope it continues. Everything fell our way today," said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly.
Matt Kemp, Justin Turner and Drew Butera each drove in two runs for the Dodgers, who snapped a three-game losing skid.
After flirting with a no-hitter in his last start, Hyun-Jin Ryu (6-2) yielded two runs on 10 hits over six solid innings to earn the win.
In the worst outing of his young career, Brandon Cumpton (0-2) was tagged for 11 runs -- 10 earned -- on 11 hits and two walks over just 3 2/3 innings.
"His (Cumpton) fastball command wasn't what we've seen from him in the past. It was a bad day for him," said Pirates manager Clint Hurdle.
Jose Tabata collected three hits and Jordy Mercer had an RBI for Pittsburgh, which had its two-game winning streak snapped.
Andre Ethier drew a one-out walk and advanced to second on Yasiel Puig's groundout in the first. Ramirez plated Ethier with a two-out RBI single up the middle. Following an Adrian Gonzalez walk, Kemp's single to left made it 2-0.
Ethier reached second on a fielding error by left fielder Starling Marte and Puig beat out an infield hit to start the third. Ramirez brought in Ethier with a base hit to left and Gonzalez doubled in another run. Kemp's sacrifice fly plated Ramirez for the first out of the inning. Turner then singled to center to make it 6-0.
Mercer drove in Tabata with a double to left to put the Pirates on the board in the fourth.
In the home half, Ramirez belted a two-run homer to start the scoring. Turner's RBI single to right was the third straight two-out base hit for the Dodgers. Butera welcomed reliever Jeanmar Gomez with a two-run triple off the top of the wall in left field to give the Dodgers an 11-1 cushion.
Travis Snider scored Mercer, who reached on a force out, on a base hit to right in the sixth inning.
Ramirez smashed his second home run in the home sixth off Bryan Morris to put the Dodgers back ahead by 10 runs.
Ramirez's five RBI and four runs are both tied for career highs ... The Dodgers' 12 runs are a season-high ... Puig has reached base in 32 straight games ... Pittsburgh went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position ... Jamey Wright allowed just one hit in three scoreless innings of relief work for the Dodgers to pick up his first save.
