Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
Washington's Alexander Ovechkin did everything he was supposed to do as a No.1 overall draft choice. He led his position in goals (56), assists (54), power play points (46) and took almost 200 more shots than any other left winger.
But for fantasy owners, the best value at left wing came in the form of a ninth-round draft choice - New Jersey Devil's left winger Zach Parise. Parise won the TSN Best Bargain Fantasy Award for Left Wingers in 2009 with an across the board display worthy of a first-round pick. He finished second at his position in goals (45), fourth in assists (49) and second in shots on goal (364).
Meanwhile, Dany Heatley was a top-five pick on Draft Day, who didn't perform up to those levels. His statistics weren't bad...for a fourth-round pick, but you paid a pretty steep price if you picked in because you could have gotten the same stats from Simon Gagne or Shane Doan or a number of other guys and improved yourself at different position
