Description: Blues goalie Jake Allen's up-and-down season continued Saturday.
Insight: Allen is currently on the down swing of the roller coaster ride this season has been so far. Allen allowed four goals on 24 shots against the Stars, and his offense couldn't bail him out this time, as St. Louis lost, 4-3. Allen has posted a .879 save percentage this month after having a .909 save percentage in November and a .944 save percentage in October.
Description: Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen played outstanding in a losing effort on Saturday.
Insight: Andersen made 28 saves and stopped the first three shootout attempts he faced, but he did allow the fourth shootout attempt to get past him as the Ducks lost, 2-1. Andersen is 19-5-4 and his 19 victories still has him ranked second in the league.
Description: Coyotes goalie Devan Dubnyk allowed just one goal and won in a shootout, 2-1, over the Ducks.
Insight: Dubnyk made 36 saves in regulation and overtime, then stopped all four shootout attempts he faced. Dubnyk has seen the pipes a lot lately with four starts in the past eight days, and he has gone 2-2-0 in those games.
Description: Capitals netminder Braden Holtby captured his first career victory over the Penguins on Saturday.
Insight: Holtby came into Saturday's game winless in eight tries against Pittsburgh, but not only did he beat them on Saturday, Holtby shut them out as Washington won, 3-0. It was also the Capitals first victory over the Penguins in eight games. Holtby made 31 saves and is now 16-8-5 with three shutouts this season.
Description: Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask replaced a rattled Niklas Svedberg on Saturday and did no better.
Insight: Svedberg started and allowed three goals on 15 shots in 26:32 minutes of ice time. Rask also allowed three goals on 15 shots to post the exact same .800 save percentage. With about one-third of the season over, owners with Rask are starting to get a little anxious that Rask hasn't stepped up his game yet.
Description: Devils goal Cory Schneider had a decent game on Saturday but lost.
Insight: We've seen this story before. It seems like Schneider is either struggling due to lack of rest or not receiving enough goal support to make any hay in fantasy. On Saturday, it was the latter, as he allowed two goals on 27 shots, and New Jersey lost, 3-1. The last goal was an empty-netter.
Description: Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky was not at the morning shootaround and can not be counted on to play Saturday night.
Insight: Bobrovsky is apparently ill, though we have no official word. He's 13-9-2 with a 2.69 GAA and .919 save percentage. Curtis McElhinney (1-6-1, 3.49 GAA, .895 save percentage) is expected to get the start in goal for Columbus on Saturday, but has minimal fantasy value.
Description: Islanders goalie Jaroslav Halak has been placed on injured reserve due to a lower body injury.
Insight: Halak is now 18-6-0 with a 2.24 GAA and .919 SV%. Chad Johnson should get most of the work with Kevin Pulin being called up as a backup. Johnson (5-5-0) doesn't hold much fantasy value with his 3.54 GAA and .867 save percentage.
Description: Canadiens goaltender Carey Price allowed an early goal, but rebounded to have a very nice game.
Insight: Price's lone goal allowed didn't come really, really early, but at about the halfway point of the first period. Price didn't allow another one, though, as he stopped 37-of-38 shots overall. Price is 19-9-1 this season.
Description: Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo put on quite a display in the shootout victory against the Penguins on Monday.
Insight: Luongo stopped all seven shots he faced against some of the most skilled skaters in the league. He made saves on Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, Patric Hornqvist and Chris Kunitz. Unfortunately, those numbers won't count towards his season statistics. In regulation and overtime, Luongo allowed three goals on 27 shots.
Description: Blues goalie Jake Allen took the loss in overtime Saturday versus San Jose.
Insight: He made 27 saves on 30 shots, and is now 11-3-2 with a 2.49 GAA and .907 save percentage. Allen should continue to hold down the top goaltending spot in St. Louis at least until Brian Elliott returns.
Description: Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped every shot but one as Dallas defeated Calgary, 2-1, on Friday.
Insight: Lehtonen made 21 saves on 22 shots which is good enough for a .955 save percentage. He improved his record to 13-7-5 but his other numbers aren't great. Lehtonen has a 2.89 GAA and .907 save percentage this season.
Description: Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen played outstanding again on Thursday.
Insight: Andersen made 23 saves and allowed just one goal in the, 2-1, victory over the Canadiens. It was a nice way to see him respond after he allowed four goals in 45 minutes on Tuesday. Prior to that, Anderson won his last seven starts. In December, Andersen is 8-1-0.
Description: Flyers goalie Steve Mason took a tough shootout loss on Thursday.
Insight: Mason stopped 31-of-32 shots he faced in regulation and overtime, then made saves on two of the first three shootout attempts, but the game was still tied. Mason, again, stopped two of the next three Florida shootout shots, however, Philadelphia did not score on any of their three.
Description: Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo played very well on won, 2-1, in a shootout on Thursday.
Insight: Florida's shootout luck continued, however, it only took six attempts this time as opposed to the 20 rounds it went on Tuesday against the Capitals. Luongo stopped 25-of-26 shots to improve his record to 12-6-6.
Description: Avalanche goalie Calvin Pickard had a tremendous game on Thursday, but it still wasn't enough.
Insight: Pickard made 47 saves and helped the Avalanche force overtime in Pittsburgh. The Penguins were knocking on the doorstep for most of the third period and finally broke through in overtime. Pickard is 4-6-1 this season.
Description: Devils goal Cory Schneider allowed only one goal, but lost, 1-0, versus the Senators.
Insight: Scheider did not have a ton of work, saving 14-of-15 shots on Wednesday, but Kyle Turris beat him on the power play in the first three minutes of the game. Despite the fact New Jersey had more than twice as many shots than Ottawa, they failed to score.
Description: Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky won his seventh straight start on Tuesday.
Insight: The winning streak continues as Bobrovsky recorded his first shutout of the season. Over the last seven games, Bobrovsky has allowed three goals just twice and fewer than two goals three times. For the fantasy owners that waited patiently for Bobrovsky to return, here is your reward.
Description: Predators goalie Pekka Rinne had a great start on Saturday, but his goalie counterpart was even better.
Insight: Rinne made 32 saves and allowed just one goal, but Sharks goalie Antti Niemi stopped all 29 shots he faced. Rinne still has the best numbers in the league with a 1.75 GAA, .937 save percentage and 19 victories.
Description: Blues goalie Jake Allen had his best game of the month on Saturday.
Insight: Allen has struggled since Brian Elliott went down with an injury and Martin Brodeur joined the team, so it was nice for him to play well in a victory. Allen made 23 saves on 25 shots as the Blues won, 3-2, in overtime.
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had a great Saturday night.
Insight: Lundqvist allowed just one third-period goal on 30 shots to lead the Rangers to a, 5-1, victory over the Canucks. He is 11-7-3 with a 2.63 GAA and .909 save percentage, which is very un-Lundqvist like. Perhaps Saturday will get him going.
Description: Canucks goalie Ryan Miller is all the sudden struggling big time.
Insight: An early-season favorite for the Vezina Trophy, Miller has allowed 11 goals over the last three games, and in one of those contests, he played just 25 minutes. His save percentage in that stretch is .820. Hopefully Miller can get back on track with some time off as the Canucks play next on Wednesday.
Description: Devils goal Cory Schneider did not finish Saturday's game due to a coach's decision.
Insight: New Jersey pulled Schneider after he allowed four goals in the first two periods. He did make 29 saves though, facing 33 shots. Schneider continues to see the most work in the league and is 11-14-3 with a 2.61 GAA and .916 save percentage this season.
Description: Coyotes goalie Devan Dubnyk posted a better save percentage than his opposing goalie but got the loss.
Insight: Dubnyk made 32 saves on 35 shots whereas Nicklas Backstrom had 27 saves on 30 shots, but Backstrom did better in the shootout. Dubnyk has decent numbers, 5-2-2, 2.74 GAA and .917 save percentage, as Mike Smith's backup, but what is frustrating fantasy owners is the fact he has yet to take over the starting role. Dubnyk is 0-2-1 in his last three starts which will not win him the job.
Description: Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen won again on Saturday. 17
Insight: Andersen has won his last six starts as the Ducks are on a seven-game winning streak. Over that streak, Andersen's numbers haven't been that impressive as the Ducks offense has really carried them. Andersen has a .914 save percentage and a 2.40 GAA.
Description: Capitals netminder Braden Holtby had a good game against the Lightning on Saturday.
Insight: Holtby shut out the Lightning through 55 minutes of the game. He allowed two late goals to make things interesting, but Washington added an empty-net goal as they won, 4-2. Holtby is 12-7-4 this season.
Description: Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky won his sixth straight start on Saturday.
Insight: It took a shootout, but Columbus picked up a much-needed two points as they try to get back into the playoff race. Bobrovsky made 33 saves, allowing three goals and the game-tying score with 10 seconds left in regulation. The goalie then stopped two-of-three shootout attempts from the Penguins.
