Description: Laker point guard Jordan Clarkson scored a season-high 30 points during Tuesday's loss to the Thunder.
Insight: It was also a team-high. Clarkson shot 12-of-19 from the field, 4-of-6 from the line, and 2-of-3 from downtown. He also managed seven assists, four rebounds, one steal, three blocks, and three turnovers.
Description: Lakers guard Steve Nash (nerve damage) has announced his retirement from basketball.
Insight: It's not a big surprise as he's been struggling with his health for years. The two-time MVP will finish third all-time in assists (10,335), he also scored 17,387 points, averaging 14.3 ppg over his 18-year career with Phoenix, Dallas and the Lakers.
Description: Lakers guard Jeremy Lin played will try to play versus the Jazz on Thursday according to the LA Daily News.
Insight: Lin is deadling with a sore back, but he should come off the bench to play. If owners have a better option, then it would be wise to stay away from Lin since he isn't guaranteed big minutes with this back injury.
Description: Laker point guard Jordan Clarkson scored a season-high 25 points versus the Grizzlies on Friday.
Insight: Clarkson was 12-of-18 in what was one of his best shooting nights this season. He also had six assists and four rebounds. While we wouldn't suggest to go running to the computer to pickup Clarkson, he is a player worth watching. He is averaging 13.7 ppg, 4.3 apg and 3.3 rpg in four games this month.
Description: Lakers forward Ed Davis had a double-double off the bench on Wednesday.
Insight: Davis shot 70 percent from the field on his way to 14 points and 12 rebounds. He also had three steals and a block. Davis is only valuable in deeper leagues, averaging 8.2 ppg and 7.4 rpg this season.
Description: Lakers guard Jeremy Lin played very well off the bench during Tuesday's loss to the Hornets.
Insight: He shot 9-of-16 from the floor, 2-of-2 from the line, and 3-of-4 from deep. Lin also chipped in eight assists, six rebounds, two steals, one block, and three turnovers. Despite the solid outing, Lin is too inconsistent to be consider for a roster spot.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young will not play on Wednesday against the Jazz according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
Insight: Young scored 19 points in his last game, so it's too bad he won't get a chance to build upon that. The good new is an MRI didn't find anything wrong with Young's knee. Just make sure he is out of the fantasy lineup on Wednesday.
Description: Lakers forward Carlos Boozer played 15 minutes and scored just nine points on Sunday versus the Cavaliers.
Insight: Cleveland blew out Los Angeles, 120-105, so there weren't many reasons for Boozer to play. Without Kobe Bryant, there could be a lot of games like this with unknown youngsters getting a lot of minutes.
Description: Lakers forward Carlos Boozer scored a team-high 28 points during Wednesday's overtime loss to the Bucks.
Insight: Boozer played 37 minutes and went 13-of-21 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line. He also had nine rebounds, four assists, and four turnovers. Boozer is worth owning, as he has played well of late.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young (sprained his right ankle) was actually a DNP-CD on Sunday which didn't sit well with the player.
Insight: Young and Byron Scott got together and may now be on the same page. Expect Young on the floor Wednesday versus Milwaukee. He's a scorer and a three-point shooter, but adds little else for fantasy owners.
Description: Lakers PF/C Jordan Hill is expected to miss Wednesday's game against Milwaukee due to sprained right quadriceps/hip flexor.
Insight: Hill could miss up to a couple of weeks, but we await an official timetable. Carlos Boozer, Ed Davis and Ryan Kelly will see more minutes as long as Hill is out. Boozer posted 19 points and 10 rebounds Sunday.
Description: Lakers forward Carlos Boozer came off the bench and led the team with 19 points on Sunday.
Insight: Starting point guard Jordan Clarkson also had 19 points in the loss to the Knicks. Boozer was 6-of-15 from the field and was helped by his 7-for-8 at the free-throw line. He also had 10 rebounds. It was his eighth double-double of the season.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young (sprained his right ankle) missed Thursday's game against the Bulls and was limited in Friday's shootaround.
Insight: Coach Byron Scott said he did some running but couldn't really cut. That makes him more doubtful than questionable. Wayne Ellington gets to take a lot fo shots when Young and Kobe Bryant aren't around.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young (sprained his right ankle) missed Wednesday's practice and has been downgraded to out for Thursday's game against the Bulls.
Insight: Wayne Ellington certainly enjoyed not having to share shot attempts with Young or Kobe Bryant as he went off for 28 points Tuesday night on 20 shots. Ellington is again a viable fantasy option.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young (sprained his right ankle) missed Wednesday's practice making his appearance in Thursday's game against the Bulls questionable.
Insight: Wayne Ellington certainly enjoyed not having to share shot attempts with Young or Kobe Bryant as he went off for 28 points Tuesday night on 20 shots. Ellington could again be a viable fantasy option.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant had surgery on Wednesday to repair his right rotator cuff and is expected to miss the next nine months according to the Orange County Register.
Insight: This puts Bryant on pace to return around the beginning of November which is a longer recovery time than originally anticipated. Therefore, there is a chance he misses the beginning of next season.
Description: Laker swingman Wayne Ellington scored a team-high 28 points during Tuesday's loss against the Wizards.
Insight: It was also a season-high for Ellington, who went 12-of-20 from the floor, 1-of-1 from the line, and 3-of-9 from downtown. He also had three assists, three rebounds, three steals, and two turnovers. Ellington will continue to start at shooting guard.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young sprained his right ankle in practice Monday and has been downgraded to out for Tuesday against Washington.
Insight: After posting 17 points Friday night, Young looked like he didn't want to be out there on Sunday going 0-for 2 with three turnovers in eight minutes. Wayne Ellington and Wes Johnson will see an increase in fantasy value.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young sprained his right ankle in practice Monday and should be considered questionable for Tuesday against Washington.
Insight: After posting 17 points Friday night, Young looked like he didn't want to be out there on Sunday going 0-for 2 with three turnovers in eight minutes. If he can't run, Wayne Ellington and Wes Johnson would see an increase in fantasy value.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young disappeared Sunday night and played just eight ugly minutes.
Insight: After posting 17 points Friday night, Young looked like he didn't want to be out there going 0-for 2 with three turnovers. To his credit, Byron Scott quickly looked to other guys to perform. Young is a boom or bust fantasy option.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant (shoulder) is expected the miss the remainder of the season, according to Ramona Shelburne of Espn.com.
Insight: An announcement is expected by the team to make it official, but owners need to prepare for the worst. Wayne Ellington will continue to start, with Nick Young, Wes Johnson and Jordan Clarkson also benefiting. Bryant should be at full strength to start training camp.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young is probable for Friday's game against San Antonio while dealing with a sprained right thumb.
Insight: Young has never met a shot he didn't like and with Kobe Bryant sidelined he should pick up a lot of the workload at the offensive end. He's averaging 17.5 ppg over his last four contests, but doesn't offer much other than scopring for fantasy owners.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has a tear in his rotator cuff.
Insight: The MRI results revealed the injury, which is obviously not good. There is still no word on a timetable, but we would guess it will be a lengthy one, and possibly season-ending with the Lakers essentially out of playoff contention. Stay tuned.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant received an MRI on his hurt shoulder.
Insight: Bryant injured his shoulder during Wednesday's game versus the Pelicans, but he downplayed the injury. The Lakers will release the results of the MRI Thursday evening according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will play on Wednesday versus the Pelicans.
Insight: Bryant did not play the last two games in order to receive additional rest for his aching body. Bryant should be fresh for this game and even though he probably won't see more than 30 minutes, Bryant should be in all standard league lineups.
Description: Lakers backup center Tarik Black (5.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg) suffered a sprained right ankle and is not expected to be available for Wednesday's game against New Orleans.
Insight: Black doesn't hold any fantasy value, but his 16 minutes per night could help Jordan Hill. Hill could see 35 minutes plus and that would make him a viable fantasy option as he already averages 12.4 ppg, 7.9 rpg.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has been downgraded to out for Monday's game against Phoenix.
Insight: Bryant recorded 19 points, 17 assists and six rebounds Thursday, but then missed Friday's game. This is his eighth game he has missed in the last 15 contests. Wayne Ellington is expected to start.
Description: Lakers guard Jeremy Lin could see big minutes Monday against Phoenix with Ronnie Price doubtful and Kobe Bryant's availability up in the air.
Insight: Lin hasn't played very well lately, managing just six points, two rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes Friday. He's gone four straight games scoring single digits with three or less assists.
Description: Lakers guard/forward Nick Young came off the bench and scored 23 points to lead the Lakers in scoring on Friday.
Insight: Young only took nine shots, making four of them, but he hit 13-of-13 from the free-throw line. Young didn't do much else with just two rebounds, however, anyone who rolled the dice with him on Friday should be very happy with his points and free throw percentage.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant put together a very nice line in Thursday's game against Cleveland.
Insight: Bryant recorded 19 points, 17 assists and six rebounds. That's the good news. There is also talk of shutting him down, perhaps in March. This would be a good time to "sell high" on the Lakers' guard.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant had an abysmal shooting night during Tuesday's loss to the Heat.
Insight: He went 3-of-19 from the floor for 12 points, seven assists, six boards, two 3-pointers, obe steal, and two turnovers. Owners need to try and trade Bryant, as he will not even play every night.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will play on Wednesday against the Clippers.
Insight: Over the last four games, Bryant has been much more efficient averaging 17.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 8.0 apg while shooting 46.9 percent. Hopefully he continues to take around 12 shots rather than more than 20 shots like he was taking back in November and early December. With his shot attempts down, his percentages have gone up along with the rebounds and assists.
Description: Lakers PF/C Jordan Hill scored a team-high 23 points with 14 rebounds Monday night.
Insight: Hill led the team in shots because Kobe Bryant sat this one out and "gunner" Nick Young went just 3-of-13. He scored a total of seven points in the previous two games, so obviously this isn't an everyday occurence.
Description: Lakers coach Byron Scott wants guard Kobe Bryant to sit out one of the two games in back-to-back sets for the remainder of the season, according to Bill Oram of the Orange County Register.
Insight: That means Bryant is expected to sit out Monday's game against Portland. Although fantasy owners are getting less scoring, they are receiving more assists, rebounds and a better shooting percentage as he displayed in Sunday's 20-point, six-rebound, six-assist, three-steal effort in the Lakers win over Indiana.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant contiues to see a dip in his scoring numbers but a better performance in his overall game.
Insight: Bryant scored 15 points, well below his 23.8 ppg average, but he also had nine rebounds and eight assists. Both fantasy owners and the Lakers like this version of Kobe much better. Although fantasy owners are getting less scoring, they are receiving more assists, rebounds and a better shooting percentage. The Lakers are also far more competitive when Bryant spreads the ball.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant only took 11 shots on Tuesday and recorded a triple-double.
Insight: It's a late Christmas miracle! Bryant has only taken 21 shots in the two games since he returned to the court. In the game before his absence, Bryant took 30 shots. It just goes to show you that Bryant doesn't have to shoot a ton to be fantasy relevant. He had 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists on Tuesday.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant did not play against the Mavericks on Friday, but will return for Sunday's contest.
Insight: With no chance of a title this season, Bryant isn't playing the role of "warrior" who goes out no matter the conditions. Fans and fantasy owners can probably expect this in and out of the lineup for the rest of the season.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant did not play against the Mavericks on Friday, but is expected to return for Sunday's contest
Insight: With no chance of a title this season, Bryant isn't playing the role of "warrior" who goes out no matter the conditions. Fans and fantasy owners can probably expect this in and out of the lineup for the rest of the season.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will likely not play against the Mavericks on Friday according to The Star-Telegram.
Insight: As we said on Christmas, the old Kobe wouldn't miss games, but apparently losing changes a player. Bryant was really only providing fantasy owners scoring and now that he is missing games, his fantasy value continues to drop.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant missed the Tuesday upset win over Golden State and will miss a second game with what coach Byron Scott called "general soreness."
Insight: The old Kobe was a "warrior" and would never miss games, but this new guy, on a non-competitive team, is apparently ok with taking time off. The Lakers play Dallas on Friday and he has to be considered questionable for that one too.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant missed the Tuesday upset win over Golden State.
Insight: It was just coach Byron Scott giving the 36-year-old with a "million miles" on the engine a rest day after he shot 26-for-91 (28.5 percent) over the past four games. He should return for the Christmas Day game against Chicago.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant shot an awful 3-of-15 from the field and missed the game-winning shot on Friday versus the Thunder.
Insight: Jeremy Lin made some noise by saying "I like game-winners too. I would like to shoot some, but I get it" after the game. Those comments are blow a little bit out of proportion because watching the actually Lin interview, it didn't seem like he was implying he should have taken the last shot. Regardless, Bryant is hurting fantasy teams with his 37.7 shooting percent, and on nights where he doesn't score, he isn't much of a fantasy commodity. Ironically, he did have eight rebounds and eight assists Friday to avoid the fantasy dud. Normally, it's the other way around as Bryant is averaging 24.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg and 5.0 apg this season.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant scored 22 points during Friday's overtime win against the Spurs.
Insight: He played point guard down the stretch and for most of the extra session. Bryant finished with nine assists, five rebounds, four steals, one 3-pointer, and five turnovers in 40 minutes of action.
Description: Lakers guard Jeremy Lin is continuing to struggle coming off the bench.
Insight: Lin scored just three points and added four assists, one rebound and one steal in 22 minutes on Tuesday. That's not good enough for a player called a fantasy sleeper in the preseason. Lin said on Sunday he felt a "sharp pain" in his leg, so perhaps that is affecting his play.
Description: Lakers forward Carlos Boozer came off the bench on Tuesday and scored 15 points.
Insight: All the shots and scoring is going to Kobe Bryant, who leads the league with 25.6 ppg. Wesley Johnson is third on the team in scoring, but we expect Boozer to remain the team's second-best scoring option. That might not be saying much but if one has to go with a player not named Bryant on the Lakers, it might as well be Boozer.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant shot a percentage higher than his season average on Tuesday.
Insight: That's not saying much because Bryant is shooting 39 percent from the floor this season, and on Tuesday he shot 40.7 percent. Still, owners will take the 32 points. Bryant is leading the league with 25.5 ppg.
Description: Lakers guard Jeremy Lin is questionable for Tuesday's game against Sacramento due to a sore leg.
Insight: Ronnie Lin got his first start of the season at point guard Sunday. Lin is averaging 11.5 ppg, 4.9 apg, and 1.0 spg, and his poor play got him demoted. It's likely just temporary, but this injury won't help.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant continued to score a lot and take a lot of shots on Wednesday.
Insight: Bryant finished with 29 points, but he shot just 36 percent from the field and 33 percent from the 3-point line. Bryant is not providing much else, and on Wednesday he had four rebounds, three assists and a steal. If owners need lots of points, Bryant is the man, but he won't provide much else.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant scored a team-high 26 points in a loss Friday against the Timberwolves.
Insight: He shot 10-of-18 from the field and 6-of-10 from the line. Bryant also had five rebounds, five assists, five steals, and two turnovers. He is averaging 26.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 4.1 apg, and 1.4 spg.
Description: Lakers forward Carlos Boozer will start on Wednesday against the Grizzlies despite his shoulder injury according to Lakers reporter Beto Duran.
Insight: It is still not recommended to start Boozer because of his tough matchup against Zach Randolph and the interior defense of Memphis. But if you need him, Boozer should see his normal amount of minutes.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant did not practice on Saturday.
Insight: There shouldn't really be a cause for concern. Coach Byron Scott said Bryant needed the rest for what he called "heavy legs." We agree after seeing him miss his first 12 shots on Friday versus the Mavericks. Bryant should be ready to go on Sunday.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant shot just 27 percent on Friday as he continues to chuck up shots.
Insight: Bryant is averaging 25.5 shot attempts per game in November and 24.0 for the season. He obviously feels the pressure to score a lot due to the lack of talent on the Lakers. That means big numbers most nights, but occasionally he is going to be off and his percentage will suffer a lot.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant posted big numbers, 29 points, five rebounds, seven assists, but missed 18 of 28 shots from the field.
Insight: Bryant is shooting just 38.6 percent from the field this season. We expected a bit of a slow start, but not this poor. However, if you can withstand the early bad shooting, which will surely come around, he's posting solid numbers across the board.
Description: Lakers guard Nick Young played well in his first game-action of the season.
Insight: He came off the bench and played 28 minutes, going 6-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from the line for 17 points, five rebounds, two 3-pointers, and one steal. Young will have a chance to chuck all season long.
Description: Lakers guard Jeremy Lin was very efficient in Tuesday's victory against the Hawks.
Insight: He was 6-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line for 15 points. Lin also chipped in 10 assists, three rebounds, two steals, and three turnovers. Owners should not expect better lines than this throughout the season.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is listed as questionable due to illness, but we expect him to play.
Insight: Kobe is coming off a horrible game and the illness probably caused some of it. He was 1-of-14 from the field (7-of-9 from the line) in 36 minutes of action, for only nine points. He's a warrior and should be out there on Sunday.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant had one of the worst games of his career Friday night.
Insight: He was 1-of-14 from the field (7-of-9 from the line) in 36 minutes of action, for only nine points. Bryant did have six assists, four rebounds, two blocks, one steal, and four turnovers. He will continue to struggle from the floor, but will definitely produce much better than Friday night, as he looks completely healthy.
Description: Lakers forward Carlos Boozer scored a team-high 19 points in Friday's loss to San Antonio.
Insight: He played well and was 8-of-13 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line, while also contributing eight rebounds, one assist, two steals, and two turnovers. Boozer is averaging 13.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg, while shooting 51 percent from the floor this season.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant continued his poor shooting, but scored 33 points in Wednesday's loss to New Orleans.
Insight: He was 10-of-28 from the field and 8-of-8 from the line, including 5-of-11 from deep. Bryant also had five assists, four rebounds, one steal, and one turnover. It seems he will continue to shoot poorly from the field, but nevertheless it is fun for owners to have him on fantasy teams.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant took 26 shots and scored 28 points against the Grizzles on Tuesday.
Insight: Despite Bryant's solid play, the Lakers continue to lose. Los Angeles is 1-5 this season. Not that fantasy owners care because Bryant had seven rebounds, six assists and four steals to go with his 26 shots.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is clearly healthy early on this season.
Insight: He had a ridiculous 37 shot attempts, but made only 14. Bryant had 39 points, nine rebounds, three 3-pointers, one asisst, one steal, one block, three turnovers in 44 minutes of action. Owners should enjoy the ride.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant scored 28 points, but it wasn't enough as Los Angeles lost, 1127-104, against Golden State.
Insight: Bryant played 35 minutes on Friday and then 36 minutes on Saturday, so that is an excellent sign for Bryant coming off the injury from last season. Bryant also had six rebounds but hurt fantasy owners with seven turnovers.
Description: Lakers PF/C Jordan Hill led the team in scoring in Friday's loss to the Clippers.
Insight: He shot 10-of-15 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line, for his 23 points. Hill also contributed five rebounds and one block, and will have a nice opportunity to produce this season, with the Lakers' lack of depth.
Description: Lakers forward Ed Davis has put up two strong performances and should continue to see plenty of playing time.
Insight: despite not starting, Davis is averaging 12.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 2.0 blocks per game. It's his defense that will keep him on the court over a veteran like Carlos Boozer and he's a viable fantasy options after the Julius Randle injury.
Description: One thing fantasy owners should never do is underextimate Lakers guard Kobe Bryant.
Insight: Bryant's return to the court after a "lost" season started slowly in Game 1, but he posted 31 points against Phoenix. Knocking the rust off was to be expected, but nobody has more will to succeed than Bryant.
Description: Doctors have diagnosed lakers forward Julius Randle with a broken right tibia. Randle will undergo further evaluations on Wednesday.
Insight: The Lakers heard a pop when Randle went down to the floor late in Tuesday's season opener. It's such a shame. Randle was one of the top rookies drafted in fantasy this season, and he played just one game in his rookie campaign. The Lakers will be even more reliant on Carlos Boozer and Jordan Hill.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant led the team with 19 points on opening night.
Insight: Bryant's return was a little disappointing to owners who bought into coach Byron Scott's claim that Bryant would play 30-to-40 minutes. The guard only played 29 minutes versus the Rockets. That, however, could have been due to the blowout on the scoreboard.
Description: Lakers guard Nick Young will still be a valuable fantasy player once he returns from his thumb injury.
Insight: He is probably still out the next 5-to-7 weeks, but will see time at small forward and shooting guard upon his return. Owners should target him towards the end of drafts, only if the leagues' rosters are updated weekly. Otherwise, leave Young undrafted, and look to acquire him via waivers, as the season moves on.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will have a great opportunity to bounce back this season.
Insight: After playing in only six games last season, Bryant looks to be as healthy as he has been in a long time. Look for him to get back to close to his career-averages, and owners should not be afraid to select him in the second round.
Description: Los Angeles G/F Wesley Johnson is coming off a career-season.
Insight: He averaged 9.1 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 1.1 steals per game, 1.0 blocks per game, along with shooting .425 from the field and 79 percent from the line. These numbers show that Johnson can fill a stat sheet, and as a result be picked towards the end of drafts.
Description: Lakers have re-signed PF/C Jordan Hill will have a chance for a career-season in 2014-15.
Insight: With the lack of depth behind him, Hill will be the starting center for Los Angeles. He should be able average close to a double-double with points and rebounds, and combined with around a block per game plus a field goal percentage of over 50 percent, Hill should be targeted around the 11th round.
Description: Lakers forward Carlos Boozer should have some nice value heading into the 2014-15 fantasy basketball season.
Insight: With the Lakers' roster nothing to cry home about, Boozer's current ADP in the 12th round is very nice value. He should be able to average around 15.0 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game. Owners should be afraid to draft this guy, as he could be a potential steal.
Description: Lakers guard Jeremy Lin is one of the biggest sleepers in fantasy drafts this season.
Insight: If you are waiting for the last minute and still haven't drafted, keep an eye on Jeremy Lin. He scored 19 points and had one rebound, seven assists, one steal and two 3-pointers off the bench in a preseason game against the Kings. Although Sacramento is not exactly the cream of the Western Conference, Lin figures to be a huge factor in the Lakers offense this season. He would be a great No. 2 fantasy point guard.
Description: Lakers guard Nick Young has a torn ligament in his right thumb.
Insight: He is expected to miss eight weeks with the injury, making him on pace to return a month into the season. Young will be the Lakers' sixth man, and will hold some late-round value in fantasy leagues.
Description: Lakers guard Kobe Bryant expects to play in the team's preseason opener on Oct. 6 after recovering from a fractured lateral tibial plateau in his left knee according to Yahoo Sports.
Insight: Los Angeles still expects Bryant to average 23 points per game. Head coach Bryon Scott said he expects Bryant to be healthy all 82 games, and if that happens, Bryant could be a fantasy steal based on where he will be picked this year.
Description: Lakers coach Byron Scott said forward Julius Randle will "get plenty of chances to play a lot of minutes" according to NBA.com
Insight: Los Angeles added Carlos Boozer in free agency, so there is some doubt of whether Scott's statement will be true right away, but Randle looked great in Las Vegas. He could be a solid pick up late in the draft or in free agency as long as you're patient.
Description: Carlos Boozer will play for the Los Angeles Lakers next season.
Insight: Boozer was cut from the Chicago Bulls via the amnesty provision earlier this week and Los Angeles won a blind auction to claim him. Boozer started 76 games last season and played 28.2 minutes per game, but he'll have to battle Julius Randle, Jordan Hill and Ed Davis for playing time in 2014-15.
Description: The Lakers have re-signed PF/C Jordan Hill.
Insight: Hill will make $9 million in the first year of the contract and the Lakers have a $9 million team option for the second season. Hill averaged 20.8 minutes, 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, all career highs, last season.
Description: Nick Young has re-signed with the Lakers for four years and $21.5 million, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times.
Insight: Young averaged 17.9 ppg last season, but he's not going to average 13.9 field-goal attempts, 5.5 3-point attempts and 4.5 free-throw attempts per game again. Because he doesn't offer anything besides scoring, he's not going to be a good fantasy option next season.
Description: The Rockets will trade Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Insight: The Rockets also sent future first- and second-round picks to Los Angeles and will get back cash and the rights to an overseas player. Houston made the deal in an effort to clear cap space to sign Chris Bosh, but Bosh spurned them to return to Miami. Lin averaged 28.9 minutes, 12.5 points, 4.1 assists and 1.2 threes last season and could start for Los Angeles, but he probably won't experience a big change in fantasy value.
Description: We've heard conflicting reports regarding the health of Kentucky forward and projected lottery pick Julius Randle.
Insight: Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski says teams are worried Randle's broken foot is healing slower than expected and could require surgery. Randle took to Twitter to refute that report. Either way, we'd be surprised if Randle fell out of the top-ten.
Description: ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reports Lakers guard Kobe Bryant (knee) has been cleared to run and shoot.
Insight: Bryant will begin a six-month program and should be ready for 2014-15. Whether we will ever see the "old" Bryant again is a question for later in his recovery. He averaged 13.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 6.3 apg for the six games he played this season.
Description: Lakers guard Steve Nash (nerve irritation) will miss the last game of the regular season Wednesday, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Insight: Nash has appeared in just 15 games this season due to a nerve irritation. He moved into third place on the all-time NBA assists list in his last game on April 8 and is under contract for one more season.
Description: Lakers center Chris Kaman (strained calf) participated in a light practice on Saturday and could possibly make an appearance in the final two games.
Insight: He didn't play Sunday, his sixth consecutive missed game. His absence has allowed Jordan Hill (two straight double-doubles) and Ryan Kelly to start in the frontcourt with Pau Gasol (vertigo) also still sidelined.
Description: Lakers center Pau Gasol (vertigo) will miss the rest of the regular season, according to Mike Trudell of lakers.com.
Insight: The Lakers have no reason to push Gasol to play, especially because he already had one recurrence of his condition following a return. He'll be a free agent after the season and should attract plenty of attention after putting up 17.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game this season.
Description: Lakers guard Steve Nash said he suffered a setback to his injured hamstring during Tuesday's 15-point loss to Houston. SOURCE: Mark Medina, Los Angeles Daily News
Insight: He's been battling nerve issues all season and the problem resurfaced on Tuesday night. Nash says he's unlikely to play again in 2014, though he's said that before and come back numerous times.
Description: Los Angeles guard Steve Nash, once thought to be out for the season, dished out five assists Tuesday in a loss to Houston.
Insight: By doing that, Nash (6.8 ppg, 5.7 apg) moved into third on the all-time assists list ahead of former Pacers point guard Mark Jackson. Ironically, Nash's next chance to play will be Friday against the Warriors, who are coached by Jackson.
Description: Los Angeles shooting guard Kent Bazemore has a torn tendon in his right foot. He's done for the season. SOURCE: NBA.com
Insight: That's not what fantasy owners wanted to hear. Prior to getting hurt on Sunday, Bazemore had scored at least a dozen points in each of his last five games. Wesley Johnson (8.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg) is likely to start in Bazemore's place Tuesday against the Rockets.
Description: Lakers guard Kent Bazemore sprained his right foot during Sunday's game and will not return, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Insight: Bazemore's X-rays were negative and he'll have an MRI Monday. The Lakers began the game with just nine available players and are down to eight with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Chris Kaman, Xavier Henry, Steve Nash, Jordan Farmar and Bazemore all out.
Description: Lakers center Pau Gasol (vertigo) will not play Sunday, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Insight: It will be his seventh absence in the last eight games due to vertigo. The Lakers may shut him down for the rest of the season, and with Chris Kaman (calf) also hurting Jordan Hill has been playing a big role.
Description: Lakers PF/C Jordan Hill has an upset stomach and might miss Wednesday's game, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Insight: The Lakers are already without Pau Gasol (vertigo) and Chris Kaman (calf strain), so Hill is needed to start Wednesday, but that's been the Lakers' luck this season. If he can't play, they'll have to start Robert Sacre and Ryan Kelly and also use Wesley Johnson at power forward.
Description: Lakers center Pau Gasol played Tuesday, but is still listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against Sacramento.
Insight: Gasol admitted he felt sluggish and suggested he may have returned too soon, according to a Mark Medina report. Gasol (17.4 ppg, 9.7 rpg) didn't replace Chris Kaman, they played alongside one another and combined for only 21 points and 10 rebounds so neither was worth much to fantasy owners.
Description: According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said he'll give the Pau Gasol-Chris Kaman combination a try in the starting lineup Tuesday.
Insight: Gasol will return from vertigo on Tuesday and will take minutes away from Kaman, Jordan Hill and Ryan Kelly. Kaman had 28 points, 17 rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes Sunday, but he has averaged just 18.6 minutes per game this season.
Description: Los Angeles guard Steve Nash (back) is probable for Tuesday's game, according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.
Insight: It seems like the first time all season that Nash wasn't listed as out, doubtful or a game-time decision. He averaged 17 minutes, 4.5 points, 8.5 assists and 2.0 steals the last two games he played.

Insight: Vertigo has caused him to miss the last four games. Gasol (17.5 ppg, 9.8 rpg) is expected to return Tuesday against Portland, which would push Chris Kaman (10.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg) back to the bench.
