Leafs can't continue road success, fall to Bolts

Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - Benoit Pouliot had three assists, Alex Killorn netted the game winner, and the Tampa Bay Lightning took down the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-2.

Vincent Lecavalier, Steven Stamkos and Matt Carle also lit the lamp for the Bolts, who have won two in a row since a six-game skid.

"This was a lot better effort that we had than when we weren't winning," said Carle. "We still have a lot of things to work on here, but this was a good first step."

Anders Lindback made 23 saves for Tampa Bay, which lost all four games to Toronto in 2011-12.

Mikhail Grabovski and James van Riemsdyk scored for the Maple Leafs, who fell to 7-3-0 on the road this season.

"We know these guys are tough to play against and we just couldn't get anything going," said van Riemsdyk. "We were able to do a few things, but they got some bounces and have a ton of skill over there."

Ben Scrivens, who came into Tuesday's action with back-to-back shutouts, was pulled early in the third period after giving up four goals on 13 shots. Jussi Rynnas came on in relief and made six saves in his first action of the season.

Tampa Bay took the lead for good in the early stages of the second stanza. Cory Conacher came away with the puck following a battle behind the net. He slid a pass in front to Stamkos, who made it a 2-1 contest at the 4:56 mark.

Killorn lit the lamp 2:49 into the third to give the Lightning a two-goal cushion, as his soft shot from the left point trickled through the pads of Scrivens.

Just over four minutes later, Carle's power-play goal made it a 4-1 game and signaled Scrivens' exit.

Van Riemsdyk scored at the 16:08 mark to account for the final margin.

The Lightning drew first blood at the 9:25 mark of the first period. Following a turnover by the Maple Leafs in their own zone, Lecavalier beat Scrivens with a shot from the bottom of the left circle.

Grabovski put home a rebound with 2:01 remaining to make it a 1-1 game.
