Description: Lions receiver Calvin Johnson caught six balls for 83 yards while leading the team with 13 targets against the Panthers in Week 2.
Insight: Johnson had a decent game but dropped a 30-yard touchdown, which led to a missed field goal. Even with the drop, Johnson was the only Lion who did not disappoint on Sunday.

Description: Mlive.com predicts Lions receiver Calvin Johnson's targets will decline in 2014 after the team brought in Golden Tate and drafted Eric Ebron.
Insight: Johnson drew 12 targets per game over the past two seasons, including 11.1 last year. Even if his targets drop, he's still going to see at least 10 per game and should have to face fewer double and triple coverages this season due to Detroit's new weapons. That should mean a catch-per-target rate closer to his 2012 rate of 59.5 percent than last season's 53.8 percent. Johnson is a monster and should be the top receiver drafted in all leagues, but he's probably a little overvalued in auction drafts. His average value in ESPN.com auctions is $50.50, well above Demaryius Thomas' $39.20, A.J. Green's $37.50, Dez Bryant's $35.6, Brandon Marshall's $32.2 and Julio Jones' $30.60.

Insight: Johnson is sitting out with a sprained knee. He'll probably have the knee operated on shortly after the season. With Johnson sidelined, it appears Cleveland wideout Josh Gordon will win the NFL receiving yards title. He's at 1,562 yards through 13 games. Johnson had 1,492 yards in his 14 games this season.

Description: Detroit wideout Calvin Johnson will probably need knee surgery after the season. SOURCE: Adam Schefter, ESPN
Insight: Apparently Johnson has some loose bodies in his knee that need to be cleaned out. He's just eight yards away from his third consecutive 1,500 yard receiving season, which would be an NFL record. He'll be a game-time call today against Minnesota.

Description: Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson (knee) didn't practice Friday, according to Tim Twentyman of detroitlions.com.
Insight: Johnson has struggled over the past three weeks, unfortunately the three weeks that make up the fantasy playoffs, totaling 12 receptions for 193 yards and zero touchdowns. With nothing to play for, Megatron could be given the week off. Kris Durham and Nate Burleson would get more targets if Johnson sits.

Description: Detroit star wide receiver Calvin Johnson (knee) missed Thursday's practice and is questionable for Sunday's game against Minnesota.

Description: Rumors persist that Detroit star wide receiver Calvin Johnson owners has been playing with a partially torn PCL.
Insight: Johnson has struggled over the past three weeks, unfortunately the three weeks that make up the fantasy playoffs, totaling 12 receptions for 193 yards and zero touchdowns. If he is injured at least we would have a reasonable explanation for the drop in production.

12/22/2013 2:38:00 PM
Description: Calvin Johnson owners can breathe again as the All-Pro receiver is active for Week 16.
Insight: Johnson was a true game-time decision in the biggest week of the fantasy season. He may not be 100 percent, but that should still be good enough for fantasy owners.

12/22/2013 12:41:00 PM
Description: Detroit receiver Calvin Johnson (knee) is not guaranteed to play Sunday against the Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, but Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press and Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com think he'll suit up.
Insight: Johnson will be a true game-time decision in the biggest week of the fantasy season, and he plays at 4:05 p.m. ET, which could put some fantasy owners in a bind.

12/20/2013 1:25:00 PM
Description: Detroit receiver Calvin Johnson missed Wednesday and Thursday's practice, as has become his normal MO, but returned for Friday's session, according to beat writer Tim Twentyman.
Insight: Johnson dropped a couple in the Monday night loss to Baltimore, but is still the best receiver in the league facing a vulnerable Giants secondary.

Description: Detroit receiver Calvin Johnson missed Wednesday's practice, as has become his normal MO, but returned for Thursday's session.
Insight: Johnson struggled in the blizzard-like conditions at Philadelphia last week, but he'll be back inside a dome for Sunday's game with Baltimore.

Hot11/28/2013 4:19:00 PM
Description: Detroit receiver Calvin Johnson appeared to tweak his knee on an end-zone jump ball in the third quarter Thursday against Green Bay. He returned to the game after being checked out on the sideline, but wasn't targeted again after that.
Insight: Johnson had 101 yards and a touchdown on six catches in the game, but Sam Shields fell on his knee after making an interception on an underthrown Matthew Stafford pass in the end zone. The Lions went up 33-10 with 13:06 left in the fourth quarter and stuck mostly with the run game after that, so that may explain Johnson's lack of targets. He has 10 days to heal up before playing at Philadelphia in Week 14.

Description: Bucs corner Darrelle Revis will be asked to cover Calvin Johnson on Sunday. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Insight: Revis may be the toughest defender Johnson has faced all season but at 6-foot-5, he does have a significant height advantage (Revis is only 5-foot-11). Johnson had just one catch for 13 yards the last time he faced Revis back in 2010. Obviously, if you own Megatron, you have to start him.

Hot11/21/2013 1:40:00 PM
Description: Lions wideout Calvin Johnson is on his usual schedule, missing Wednesday's practice, but returning for Thursday's activities.
Insight: Johnson has 746 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 35 catches his last four games worth an average of 35 fantasy points. Darrelle Revis or not, he's the best wide receiver option this weekend.

Hot11/17/2013 5:34:00 PM
Description: Lions wideout Calvin Johnson snagged six passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns Sunday, but all his production came in the first half.
Insight: Pittsburgh made some serious halftime adjustments after allowing more than 300 yards passing and 27 points in the first half. Megatron and the Lions were both shut out in the second half. Still, Johnson has 746 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 35 catches his last four games.

Hot11/17/2013 12:17:00 PM
Description: Good news fantasy owners. Lions wideout Calvin Johnson is active for Sunday against Pittsburgh.
Insight: Start Megatron as always. No late scratch this time around.

Hot11/15/2013 11:55:00 AM
Description: Good news fantasy owners. Lions wideout Calvin Johnson returned to the practice field on Friday, according to Dave Birkett, beat writer for the Detroit Free Press.
Insight: Megatron usually has Wednesday off and returns on Thursday, but missed Thursday this time and had fantasy owners a little concerned. This should ease their stress.

Hot11/14/2013 1:55:00 PM
Description: Lions wideout Calvin Johnson missed Thursday's practice.
Insight: It's only news because Megatron usually has Wednesday off and returns on Thursday. He didn't practice either day this week. That will make fantasy owners nervous after his surprise inactive status in Week 5. This makes his presence/absence at Friday's practice session much more significant.

Hot11/10/2013 6:15:00 PM
Description: Lions wideout Calvin Johnson hauled in a pair of touchdowns from Matthew Stafford Sunday in a narrow win over the Bears.
Insight: Johnson ended up with 83 yards on six catches. Megatron now has five touchdown receptions in his last three contests. That's the same number he had all of last season.

Hot10/27/2013 6:08:00 PM
Description: Detroit receiver Calvin Johnson had one of the greatest games in NFL history Sunday against the Cowboys.
Insight: Johnson finished the afternoon with a jaw-dropping 329 yards on 14 catches. He scored once and was stopped at the one on two other occasions. His yardage total was the highest we've seen in the NFL since Flipper Anderson set a league record with 336 yards back in 1989. Johnson now has 821 yards for the season, which leads the NFL. Keep in mind, he missed a game with a knee injury earlier this season. There's no better receiver in football right now.
