Raiders name Pryor starter for finale

Alameda, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Terrelle Pryor will finish the 2013 season just as he ended it -- as the Oakland Raiders' starting quarterback.

Head coach Dennis Allen announced Monday that Pryor will open the Raiders' Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos this coming Sunday, which will be the young signal-caller's first start since being benched in favor of rookie Matt McGloin in mid-November.

Pryor started eight of Oakland's first nine games, missing a Week 4 matchup with Washington due to a concussion, after winning the No. 1 job during the preseason. He then sat out the Raiders' Week 11 clash at Houston with a sprained knee and wound up falling behind McGloin on the depth chart after the latter threw three touchdown passes to lead the team to a 28-23 win over the Texans.

McGloin has been under center for Oakland's last six contests, but has noticeably struggled in the past two. After throwing four interceptions in a lopsided loss to Kansas City in Week 15, the college free agent managed just 206 yards without a passing touchdown in Sunday's 26-13 setback at San Diego.

The Raiders have lost each of McGloin's last five starts.

Pryor, who has gone 3-5 as a starter, has completed 57.7 percent of his passes this season for 1,591 yards and five touchdowns with 11 interceptions. The former Ohio State star also ranks second among NFL quarterbacks with 527 rushing yards on 74 attempts.
