2009-10 Final Right Winger Rankings

Patrick Sharp helped lead the Blackhawks to a 52-22-8 record by scoring 25 times.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Playing on a line with the best forward in the game, makes it very easy to accumulate points. That's just what right winger Alexander Semin did last season as he scored 34 goals and 45 assists for 79 points.

But in 2009-10, Semin spent most of his time on a line without Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom and still scored 84 points (40 G, 44 A). Throw in a great plus/minus rating (Capitals players held the top-five plus/minus ratings in the league) and the second most shots from a right winger and you have the 2009-10 TSN Fantasy Right Winger Award winner.

After scoring just 44 points last year, Patrick Sharp was overlooked on Draft Day. His ADP of 208 showed that fantasy owners passed him by on more than one occasion to pick other right wingers. That was their mistake. Sharp helped lead the Blackhawks to a 52-22-8 record by scoring 25 times and adding 41 assists on 266 shots on goal. A stellar +24 plus/minus rating makes him the 2009-10 TSN Best Bargain Award winner for right wingers.

Marian Hossa was a third-round selection back on Draft Day who didn't live up to expectations. He was down in all seven fantasy categories, in part because of a injuries - shoulder, concussion. Still, for fantasy owners, it doesn't matter why, only that he played just 57 games and didn't reach predictions. For that Hossa receives the "Most Disappointing Award." Fortunately for him, as this is being written his team is up 2-0 in the Stanley Cup finals, so he could get the last laugh. Hossa, of course, lost the Stanley Cup as a member of Pittsburgh to the Red Wings in 2008, before then losing it to the Penguins in 2009 as a member of Detroit so perhaps the third time is the charm.
