Description: Houston small forward Chandler Parsons should play Wednesday versus the Bulls. SOURCE: Jason Friedman, Rockets.com
Insight: He looked fine in shootaround despite a toe injury that has limited him earlier in the week. Parsons is having a great season (career-high 17.0 ppg) and deserves to be starting in all formats.
Description: Heat forward LeBron James (ankle) wasn't at shootaround this morning. He's going to be a true game-time decision Wednesday against Indiana. SOURCE: Brian Windhorst, ESPN
Insight: Obviously every game is important but in the grand scheme of things, James can probably afford to sit this one out. It's the regular season, after all. Shane Battier would start at small forward if LeBron can't go.
Description: Boston swingman Jeff Green could be dealt in the next couple days if the rumors we're hearing about Omer Asik are true. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: The Rockets plan to have Asik off their roster by Thursday and Boston could be his most likely destination. Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein are hearing that Green could be sent to Cleveland as part of a three-team deal. Asik coming to Boston would mean fewer minutes for Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk at center.
Description: X-rays on LaMarcus Aldridge's right hand came back negative. SOURCE: Comcast Sportsnet Northwest
Insight: Aldridge should be fine for Wednesday's game in Minnesota. He was dominant in Tuesday's win at Cleveland, piling up 26 points, 15 rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes of action. The former Texas Longhorn has been a top-ten fantasy player this season.
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay downplayed the seriousness of the knee stiffness he experienced Tuesday night in Charlotte. He should be ready to go Wednesday versus Atlanta. SOURCE: Jason Jones, Sacramento Bee
Insight: That's good news for fantasy owners. Gay has averaged 18 ppg in his first three games with Sacramento. Derrick Williams could see additional minutes if Gay is limited at all on Wednesday.
Description: Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire has refuted coach Mike Woodson's claim that he is injured, taking to Twitter to explain the situation.
Insight: Previously Woodson had said Stoudemire would be out a while because of renewed swelling in his knee. However, Stoudemire claimed that the reason he's not playing Wednesday is because he's played six games in the last nine days and was due for a rest. If that's true, Stoudemire could be back Saturday against Memphis. Stay tuned.
Description: Portland power forward LaMarcus Aldridge posted another huge stat line Tuesday versus Cleveland.
Insight: Aldridge exploded for 25 points on 11-of-22 shooting, corralling 15 rebounds with one block and four assists. The 28-year-old has won Western Conference Player of the Week honors twice in a row and could make it three straight after this incredible performance.
Description: Miami forward LeBron James did not practice Tuesday and will be a game-time call Wednesday against Indiana. He's dealing with an ankle injury.
Insight: James was able to finish Monday's game so we're guessing his absence on Tuesday was precautionary. He should be ready when the whistle blows Wednesday against the Eastern Conference-leading Pacers.
Description: Timberwolves forward Kevin Love didn't have the greatest shooting night Monday against Boston (just 9-of-26) but was still able to score 27 points in 36 minutes.
Insight: Love, a 39.3 percent three-point shooter coming into this game, was just 2-for-11 from that distance on Monday. Brandon Bass and Kris Humphries both played solid defense on him throughout the game. Love (14 rebounds) should bounce back Wednesday versus Portland.
Description: Miami forward LeBron James left briefly with an ankle injury but was able to return and score 30 points Monday in an easy win over Utah.
Insight: James needed one more rebound and one more assist for a triple-double. He was 13-of-17 from the field. There's a reason they call this guy The King. Paul George and Kevin Durant have been great this year but nobody in the league is playing on LeBron's level right now.
Description: Magic forward Glen Davis injured his left shoulder in Sunday's game, but played through it.
Insight: Hopefully, it won't end up being serious, but he's missed a lot of time to injury over the past two seasons. Just back from an ankle injury, Tobias Harris will gobble up any time Davis might lose to the shoulder injury.
Description: Magic forward Tobias Harris played 15 minutes Friday in his return from an ankle sprain but still managed to post 10 points and five rebounds.
Insight: Harris missed five weeks with a high-ankle sprain and was able to return for just one game on Nov. 24 before experiencing soreness again. He should pick up enough minutes and the three and the four to make him a fantasy factor, even if he doesn't match the excellent numbers he put up after going to depleted Orlando team last season.
Description: Mavericks center Brandan Wright had 19 points (9-10 FG) and six rebounds in his season debut Saturday against Milwaukee.
Insight: Wright has been out all season with a non-displaced shoulder fracture. Fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited; Wright played just 19 minutes even though Dirk Nowitzki was out with an illness and Samuel Dalembert was a DNP-CD.
Description: Milwaukee forward Ersan Ilyasova had just two points in 19 minutes Saturday at Dallas despite starting for the first time since Dec. 6.
Insight: Ilyasova has been miserable over his last six games, averaging 5.7 points on 25 percent shooting and 4.2 rebounds in 28 minutes per game. He's worth holding because of his big second halves the last two seasons, but he shouldn't be started until further notice.
Description: Even though the Spurs are playing their fourth game in five days, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker all will play Saturday, according to Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News.
Insight: Coach Gregg Popovich said all Spurs besides Tiago Splitter (calf) will play. Splitter will miss his third straight game. Duncan has put up 17 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 57.6 percent from the field over his last seven games.
Description: Mavericks center Brandan Wright (shoulder) will make his season debut Saturday against Milwaukee, according to Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com.
Insight: Wright has been out all season with a non-displaced shoulder fracture. Fantasy owners can hold off on adding him, as he'll be part of a three-man rotation at center with Samuel Dalembert and DeJuan Blair.
Description: ESPN's Marc Stein hears the Lakers are trying to trade Pau Gasol.
Insight: The Lakers have been toying with the idea for years and now that Gasol and head coach Mike D'Antoni have traded barbs through the media, the never-ending Pau saga in Los Angeles may finally be coming to an end. It makes sense for the Lakers since Pau is in the final year of his contract and will likely leave in free agency. There's a good chance Los Angeles would have to eat part of his salary to get a deal done.
Description: Spurs forward Tim Duncan produced a huge stat line Friday against the Wolves.
Insight: It included 12 points, 14 boards, eight assists, three blocks and a couple of steals. Most of Duncan's numbers are down from last season but that's to be expected from a player in his 17th year of NBA service.
Description: Minnesota power forward Kevin Love was outstanding in Friday night's loss to San Antonio.
Insight: Love matched his uniform number with 42 points on 15-of-27 shooting. He was unstoppable from beyond the arc, knocking down eight of his nine attempts from three-point range. The UCLA product dominated the boards as usual, contributing 14 rebounds in 39 minutes. It's hard to find a weakness in Love's game. He's a top-ten fantasy player.
Description: Brooklyn F/C Andray Blatche had a productive night Friday versus the Pistons.
Insight: Stepping in for Brook Lopez at center, Blatche scored 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting with 12 rebounds and a blocked shot. He's one of five Nets averaging double-digit points this season (11.7 ppg).
Description: The other player in the Greivis Vasquez trade, Rudy Gay, should be available for Friday's game in Phoenix. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: Gay's fantasy value shouldn't change much now that he's in Sacramento. He's a volume scorer with good hops, meaning he's going to score about 20 ppg with a handful of rebounds and a few blocks here and there. Derrick Williams will serve as his backup.
Description: Tim Duncan hung 21 on the Bucks Wednesday in a 109-77 Spurs victory.
Insight: Duncan was superb, knocking down 75 percent of his shots while hauling in 16 rebounds in just 24 minutes of court time. The big man is as efficient and intelligent as any player in the league, even in his late 30s. He's going to go down as one of the greatest power forwards to ever play the game.
Description: Utah SF/PF Marvin Williams (heel) is expected to play Wednesday, according to Jazz broadcaster David Locke.
Insight: Williams averaged 14 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.1 threes in eight games prior to missing the last four with heel inflammation. It's unclear if he'll rejoin the starting lineup in place of Enes Kanter.
Description: Utah PF/C Derrick Favors (back) should be able to play Wednesday, according to Jazz broadcaster David Locke.
Insight: Favors missed Monday's game with a llower back injury which has been troubling him for a while. When on the court he's an good fantasy option averaging 13.4 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.2 bpg.
Description: Grizzlies power forward Ed Davis (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's shootaround but he isn't expected to play against San Antonio.
Insight: Davis only has fantasy value when Zach Randolph is out of the lineup. He has averaged 13 minutes per game in 13 games off the bench, compared to 31 mpg in two starts. Jon Leuer has played at least 24 minutes in five straight games.
Description: According to the New York Daily News, Nets coach Jason Kidd indicated he may keep Paul Pierce in a bench role. "I liked him being a leader with that second group," Kidd said. "Will it stay that way? I don’t know. We will look at the video tomorrow as a team and coaches. I will talk to Paul and see what his comfort level is, but I would like to get him back, give him more minutes and get him used to that glove."
Insight: Pierce came off the bench for the first time since Feb. 9, 2007 Tuesday in his return from a fractured hand. He wore a brace on his right hand and had four points, seven rebounds and three assists. Pierce was open to continuing to play off the bench. "It's all about winning," Pierce said. "If that's what's best for the team, then so be it."
Description: Nets small forward Paul Pierce will return from a broken hand Tuesday against the Celtics. SOURCE: Nets on Twitter
Insight: Pierce (12.4 ppg) was expected to sit out between two and four weeks but ended up missing only one. He'll be coming off the bench, the first time he's done that since 2007. This will also be the first time in 1,118 career games that Pierce has played against Boston.
Description: Bulls small forward Luol Deng is out for Tuesday's game against the Bucks. He's battling multiple injuries including a tight calf muscle and a swollen Achilles.
Insight: Deng missed shootaround today so his absence shouldn't be a surprise to fantasy owners. If the swelling in his Achilles subsides, Deng could be back in the lineup as soon as Wednesday against the Knicks.
Description: Grizzlies power forward Ed Davis (ankle) will miss Monday's game against the Magic.
Insight: Davis only has fantasy value when Zach Randolph is out of the lineup. He has averaged 13 minutes per game in 13 games off the bench, compared to 31 mpg in two starts. Jon Leuer has played at least 24 minutes in four straight games and will back up Randolph Monday.
Description: Utah SF/PF Marvin Williams (heel) is questionable for Monday's game against Portland.
Insight: Williams is dealing with inflammation in his surgically repaired heel, but the injury reportedly is not related to his surgery. If Williams and Derrick Favors (questionable) both sit out, the Jazz will be extremely thin up front.
Description: Raptors forward Rudy Gay has apparently been traded to Sacramento as part of a seven-player deal.
Insight: Gay will be a fantasy-worthy SF no matter where he plays. He was averaging 19.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg and 2.2 apg in Toronto and should put up similar numbers with his new team. He may not be in Monday's lineup versus Dallas, but should be ready for Wednesday's contest.
Description: Philadelphia power forward Thaddeus Young is playing Saturday versus Denver. SOURCE: Tom Moore, Bucks County Courier Times
Insight: Young was a game-time call because of a sore glute muscle. He's averaging almost 16 ppg this season. Lavoy Allen would see most of the playing time at the four if Young were to get re-injured.
Description: The Heat won't have Michael Beasley Saturday against the Timberwolves. SOURCE: Heat on Twitter
Insight: Beasley tweaked his hamstring in Thursday's loss at Chicago. He's had a resurgent season, averaging 11.4 ppg in just under 18 minutes per game. His 54.6 percent success rate from the field is easily a career-high.
Description: Bucks forward Caron Butler remains sidelined with a knee injury. SOURCE: Bucks on Twitter
Insight: Saturday marks the veteran's sixth absence in a row. Butler had been averaging 13.2 ppg and 5.6 rpg before the injury. Khris Middleton (11.4 ppg) will continue to occupy Butler's spot in the starting lineup.
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons (back) was sore after playing Friday and is questionable for Sunday's game, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Parsons has been dealing with back spasms on and off all season. He underwent a two-hour acupuncture session Saturday and will have another one Sunday. After the session, Parsons said his back felt "more sore than it's ever been."
Description: Phoenix power forward Markieff Morris made 11-of-14 from the field for 25 points with 11 rebounds Friday against Toronto.
Insight: Morris has played well off the bench this season, averaging 26 minutes, 12.9 points and 6.1 rebounds, but he's providing just 0.3 blocks, 0.3 threes and 0.9 steals per game, which limits his value.
Description: Raptors power forward Amir Johnson had 22 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in 33 minutes off the bench Friday against Phoenix.
Insight: Johnson was demoted to the bench in favor of Tyler Hansbrough three games ago, but Hansbrough suffered a shoulder sprain Friday. While the team may choose to keep Johnson on the bench because he has averaged 19 points and 8.5 rebounds over his last two games, he'll certainly see a good chunk of minutes at power forward with Hansbrough out.
Description: Wizards small forward Trevor Ariza has scored at least 22 points in three straight games and drained 14 threes on 20 attempts in that span.
Insight: Ariza played 46 minutes in Friday's overtime loss to the Bucks and had 22 points with five threes, 12 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks. We don't expect Ariza to lose many minutes to Otto Porter while he's playing like this, especially after Martell Webster suffered an ankle sprain Friday.
Description: Bucks small forward Khris Middleton had a career-high 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting with seven rebounds, two steals, one block and four threes Friday at Washington.
Insight: Middleton has been starting following Caron Butler's knee injury and has scored at least 14 points in all three games this month while knocking down 11-of-15 from 3-point range in that span. Butler was given a timetable of one week back on Nov. 30, but the team hasn't provided an update since then.
Description: Mavericks center Brandan Wright (shoulder) returned to practice Friday and says there is an outside chance he'll play Monday or Wednesday, according to Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.
Insight: Wright has been out all season with a non-displaced shoulder fracture. Fantasy owners can hold off on adding him, as he'll be part of a three-man rotation at center with Samuel Dalembert and DeJuan Blair when he returns.
Description: Rockets forward Chandler Parsons (back) said he expects to play Friday, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Parsons has been dealing with back spasms on and off all season and missed the last two games. He'll continue to stretch and undergo therapy prior to the 8 p.m. ET start. We'll let you know if anything changes.
Description: Milwaukee forward Ersan Ilyasova will start Friday against Washington, according to Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Insight: Ilyasova had his best game of the season Wednesday, putting up 22 points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes off the bench. He finally appears to be healthy after battling ankle and hamstring injuries over the first five weeks.
Description: Washington G/F Otto Porter (hip) is active for Friday's game against the Bucks, according to Michael Lee of the Washington Post. Kevin Seraphin will be inactive.
Insight: Porter will be making his NBA debut after Washington took him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 draft. He averaged 16.2 ppg and 7.5 rpg in his final season at Georgetown. Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster have been playing well and stand in Porter's way at the wing spots right now, and things will get even more congested when Bradley Beal returns in a week or two.
Description: Timbewolves power forward Kevin Love will miss Saturday's game against the Heat due to the death of his grandmother, according to Nate Sandell of 1500espn.com.
Insight: Love leads the NBA with 18 double-doubles in 19 games this season, and he's also averaging a career-high 4.1 assists. Look for Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Dante Cunningham to pick up Love's minutes Saturday.
Description: Washington G/F Otto Porter (hip) will be a game-time decision Friday against the Bucks, according to J. Michael of csnwashington.com.
Insight: Porter has yet to make his debut after Washington took him with the No. 3 overall pick. He averaged 16.2 ppg and 7.5 rpg in his final season at Georgetown. He'll fight for minutes with Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster.
Description: Knicks PF/C Andrea Bargnani was ejected from Thursday's game against the Nets with 8:23 left in the fourth quarter.
Insight: Bargnani was assessed a second technical foul for trash talking Kevin Garnett after a made 3-pointer. He finished with 16 points, two rebounds, three assists, one steal, three blocks and one three.
Description: Washington G/F Otto Porter (hip) will be a game-time decision Friday against the Bucks, according to J. Michael of csnwashington.com.
Insight: Porter has yet to make his debut after Washington took him with the No. 3 overall pick. He's unlikely to be a fantasy factor right away with Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster playing well at the wing spots.
Description: Timbewolves power forward Kevin Love's status for Saturday's game is up in the air after the passing of his grandmother, according to timberwolves.nba.com.
Insight: Love leads the NBA with 18 double-doubles in 19 games this season, and he's also averaging a career-high 4.1 assists. Look for Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Dante Cunningham to pick up Love's minutes if he is out Saturday.
Description: Hawks power forward Paul Millsap filled the box score with 25 points, nine rebounds, six assists, three blocks, one steal and one 3-pointer Wednesday against the Clippers.
Insight: Millsap has been extremely streaky thoughout his career but it's important not to overreact to either extreme. He's averaging 16.2 points, 7.4 boards, 2.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.1 blocks this season and should continue to produce something close to those numbers in the long run.
Description: Milwaukee forward Ersan Ilyasova (hamstring) will play and won't have a minutes restriction Wednesday in the second game of a back-to-back. SOURCE: Andrew Gruman, foxsportswisconsin.com
Insight: Ilyasova missed one game with a hamstring injury and played just 21 minutes off the bench at Boston Tuesday night. He'll come off the bench again Wednesday but should play more. The power forward has been plagued by injuries all season and is averaging just 24 minutes, 8.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 10 games. He's capable of much more.
Description: Magic forward Glen Davis blew up for 33 points in Tuesday's loss to Philadelphia.
Insight: That's a career-high. It helped that the game went into double-overtime but Davis is still a threat to score 20 or more any time he takes the court. Despite Orlando's poor record, Davis, Nikola Vucevic, Victor Oladipo and Arron Afflalo have all made valuable fantasy contributions this season.
