Description: Outfielder Josh Hamilton trade to the Texas Rangers is now complete.
Insight: The deal was announced on the Angels' Twitter feed, and will officially end his rough tenure with the team. Hamilton is recovering from shoulder surgery and will likely be out until at least the middle of May. However, he carries nice potential in Texas' lineup.
Description: Mariners outfielder Nelson Cruz is a career 5-for-5 with two home runs versus Texas starter Yovani Gallardo.
Insight: Sure the sample size is miniscule, but at the very least he'll be confident and added to his monster start should make him a must start for fantasy owners. Cruz is batting .310 with nine homers and 20 RBI in 18 games this season.
Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson is questionable for Monday's game against Arizona due to plantar fasciitis.
Insight: Dickerson, hitting .317 overall with five homers and 14 RBI, has been dealing with this issue for most of the season, but this is the first time it's kept him on the sidelines. We await further updates.
Description: Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper hit a solo home run in the loss to the Marlins on Sunday.
Insight: The Nationals lineup continues to struggle without Anthony Rendon. Washington was 4-for-30 as a team on Sunday and scored just two runs. Harper was 1-for-4 with the bomb. He is hitting .270 with five home runs and 11 RBI in 63 at-bats.
Description: Royals right fielder Alex Gordon is just 6-for-34 versus White Sox pitcher John Danks.
Insight: Fantasy owners have to be disappointed with Gordon through the first three weeks of the season. He has sat out a lot of games and hasn't found his rhythm at the plate. Gordon is batting .239 with one home run in 46 at-bats.
Description: Padres outfielder Justin Upton hit a pair of home runs in the, 11-8, loss to the Dodgers on Saturday.
Insight: Upton hit a two-run homer in the first and then a three-run bomb in the sixth to finish the day with five RBI. He was 2-for-3 with a walk too. Upton is hitting .303/.347/.606 with five home runs and 13 RBI this season.
Description: Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday hit the game-winning home run as St. Louis held on to beat Milwaukee, 5-3, on Saturday.
Insight: Holliday hit a three-run homer in the seventh to put the Cardinals ahead, 5-0, but the Brewers responded with three runs in the eighth, so Holliday's homer proved to be the winner. It was his first homer of the season, but Holliday is hitting .358 with 10 RBI too, so he is off to a great start.
Description: Indians left fielder Michael Brantley is a career .583 hitter (7-for-12 with three doubles and six RBI versus Detroit starter Alfredo Simon.
Insight: Brantley had three hits in the first game of the series to raise his average to .286. Fantasy owners are expecting a lot from Brantley after his breakout season of a year ago, but he started slowly this season due to back issues.
Description: Braves starter Julio Teheran is a tough pitcher, but Mets first baseman Lucas Duda is a career .350 hitter (7-for-20) with a pair of doubles and home runs in their matchups.
Insight: He is now hitting .339 with nine RBI, though he's only hit one home run this season after blasting a career-high 30 in 2014. Add in the wind blowing out to right field at about 15 mph on Thursday.
Description: Marlins left fielder Christian Yelich (strained lower back) hasn'r played since Sunday and is questionable for Thursday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: It's serious enough that the team is discussing a trip to the disabled list. A lot is expected to Yelich after last season and to date he's batting just .200 with a .488 OPS. This is the reason for his ugly start. Ichiro Suzuki will take his spot in left field.
Description: Padres outfielder Justin Upton is 8-for-23 (.348) lifetime against Rockies pitcher Kyle Kendrick.
Insight: Upton has a double, two home runs and four RBI versus Kendrick. Upton has hits in every game this season but one, so definitely make sure he is in the lineup. He is batting .315 with three home runs and eight RBI in 54 at-bats this season.
Description: Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday was 4-for-4 with an RBI in the, 2-1, 10th inning loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.
Insight: Holliday had an RBI-single in the ninth to tie the game, which was his fourth hit of the game, but Washington won the game in the 10th with a homer. Holliday is hitting .425 with seven RBI but hasn't hit a home run yet in 40 at-bats this season.
Description: Padres outfielder Justin Upton left Monday night's game against Colorado.
Insight: Upton missed Sunday's game with a quad issue, but returned. It's possible with a huge lead on Monday night the team was just being cautious. He is hitting .327 with three home runs, eight RBI and 11 runs this season.
Description: Tigers outfielder Yoenis Cespedes had the game-winning RBI in the seventh as Detroit beat the New York Yankees, 2-1, on Monday.
Insight: J.D. Martinez singled to score the tying run in the inning, and then Cespedes singled to take the lead. Cespedes was 1-for-3 in the game and is batting .320 with three home runs and 11 RBI this season.
Description: Padres outfielder Justin Upton missed Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs due to a strained quadriceps.
Insight: He injured it late Saturday and continued to play through it so the quad shouldn't be a big deal. He's batting .326 with three homers and 10 RBI and doesn't seem to be having any issues with pitcher-friendly Petco Park.
Description: Mariners outfielder Nelson Cruz hit a pair of bombs and a walkoff single as Seattle defeated Texas in the bottom of the ninth, 11-10, on Sunday.
Insight: So much for not being able to hit homers at Safeco Field. Until Sunday, all six of Cruz's home runs were on the road, but apparently Cruz is so hot, it doesn't matter what ballpark he is hitting in. Cruz finished 3-for-6 with five RBI and two runs in addition to the bombs. He hit his home runs in the first and third innings. Then, his third hit came with the bases loaded in the ninth, and it scored the game-winning run. Cruz is the hottest hitter in the league as he leads baseball with eight home runs while batting .354 with 14 RBI.
Description: Indians left fielder Michael Brantley went 2-for-5 in his return to the field on Friday versus the Twins.
Insight: Brantley missed a week with a sore back. Hopefully, he can stay in the lineup and start hitting like he did on Friday. Brantley, however, didn't play left field. He was the designated hitter versus the Twins.
Description: Pirates outfielder Starling Marte hit a monster home run for his second of the season as Pittsburgh beat Milwaukee, 6-3, on Friday.
Insight: Marte has really struggled to start the year, but manager Clint Hurdle mixed up his order and moved Marte down, which seemed to work. Marte went 2-for-4 with a two-run bomb that went close to 450 feet. Marte is hitting .152 with four RBI, so maybe this game gets him going.
Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson (.361) could be a candidate to sit against Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw.
Insight: Dickerson is hitless in six at-bats with four strikeouts in their matchups. Unfortunately, right-hand hitter Drew Stubbs isn't much better (3-for-23), so manager Walt Weiss doesn't have many good choices
Description: Marlins left fielder Christian Yelich (back) did not play on Tuesday or Wednesday, but is in Thursday's starting lineup.
Insight: Ichiro Suzuki would have gotten the start in Yelich's place, but is batting just .188 in the early going and isn't a viable fantasy option. Yelich, at this point in his career, is a better option.
Description: Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner (bone bruise) is questionable for Friday's game against Tampa Bay.
Insight: Gardner was hit on the right wrist and both X-rays and MRI said no structural damage, according to Bryan Hoch of mlb.com. He should be ready for the weekend series. Gardner put together a very good 2014 campaign (.256, 17 HR, 58 RBI, 87 runs, 21 SB) and fantasy owners hope he can continue that in 2015.
Description: Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday has a career .000 BA (0-for-9) against Brewers right-hander Mike Fiers.
Insight: Holliday is off to a decent start, batting .333 for the first seven games, though he is still searching for his first extra-base hit of the season. The matchup says he probably won't get that big hit today.
Description: Royals right fielder Alex Gordon will sit on Thursday afternoon when Kansas City faces Minnesota and Tommy Milone.
Insight: Royals manager Ned Yost had said that Gordon would sit in some day games after a night game and here we are again as he sat last Thursday as well. Gordon is a career .252 hitter against left-handers vs. .275 against right-handers.
Description: Pirates outfielder Starling Marte is not in Tuesday's starting lineup.
Insight: Marte has gone hitless in his last two games and is batting just .115 on the season, so he's getting a day off. His career OPS is 78 points higher in the second half, so fantasy owners shouldn't panic over his slow start. He's a top outfielder who gives fantasy owners 30-plus steals and double-digit home runs.
Description: Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner was forced out of the game in the seventh inning after being hit by a pitch earlier in the game.
Insight: Gardner was hit on the right wrist. X-rays were negative, but he could miss a game or two due to swelling. He put together a very good 2014 campaign (.256, 17 HR, 58 RBI, 87 runs, 21 SB) and fantasy owners he can continue that in 2015.
