Lulay out 2 weeks with shoulder injury
Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - British Columbia Lions starting quarterback Travis Lulay will miss at least two weeks due to a shoulder injury.
Lulay was forced to exit Sunday's 36-14 rout of the Montreal Alouettes at BC Place after absorbing a hit during his 14-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.
"It's sore, it's inflamed. We'll let it settle down and go from there," Lulay said at a Tuesday press conference. "I'd like to travel and support Thomas (DeMarco) and Buck (Pierce) the way they support me. I don't regret trying to score on the play, it's just an unfortunate result. I'm not helping the team if I can't play so I want to get back as soon as possible."
Prior to the injury, Lulay was 19-of-28 for 197 yards and one touchdown, but was picked off three times. Recipient of a contract extension back in January, the 29-year-old Montana State product has thrown for 2,787 yards and 19 TDs against 11 interceptions this season.
"We're disappointed but we know he'll be back," added Lions head coach Mike Benevides.
The Lions head into Sunday's clash in Regina with a 7-4 record, good enough for third place in the West Division.
