Nuggets' Robinson undergoes knee surgery
Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Denver Nuggets guard Nate Robinson underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the team announced on Friday.
Robinson suffered what was originally diagnosed as an ACL sprain during Wednesday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats. After further evaluation, it was determined that Robinson would require season-ending surgery to repair a tear to the ligament.
"It's always tough to see one of your players go down with an injury," Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly said. "Nate is known for his heart and determination, so I have no doubt he will work hard to get back on the court as soon as possible. He has the full support of our team and organization."
Robinson, who is averaging 10.4 points and 2.5 assists in 44 games this season, exited Wednesday's 101-98 loss to the Bobcats midway through the first quarter. He was starting at point guard in place of Ty Lawson, who sat out the contest with a strained left rotator cuff.
