Lillard headlines NBA All-Rookie team
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, the unanimous selection for the 2012-13 NBA Rookie of the Year, headlines this season's NBA All-Rookie First Team, the league announced Tuesday.
Lillard, the sixth overall pick in last June's draft out of Weber State, was the lone unanimous decision totaling 58 points. He averaged 19.0 points and 6.5 assists in 82 games this past season.
Washington Wizards' Bradley Beal and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Hornets totaled 57 points each. Dion Waiters of the Cleveland Cavaliers (50) and Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors (47) rounded out the All-Rookie First Team.
Beal averaged 13.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 56 games (46 starts).
Davis, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds 1.8 blocks and 1.2 steals in 64 games.
Sporting averages of 14.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals, Waiters scored in double figures 45 times.
Barnes helped the Warriors make the playoffs by averaging 9.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
The NBA All-Rookie Second Team was made up of Detroit's Andre Drummond (35) and Kyle Singler (17), Toronto's Jonas Valanciunas (31), Charlotte's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (29) and Cleveland's Tyler Zeller (15).
The voting panel consisted of all 30 NBA head coaches. Coaches were asked to vote for five players for both the first and second team and were not permitted to vote for players on their own team. First team votes were worth two points while second team votes were worth one.
