Insight: It's a serious operation but at least he'll be in good hands with Dr. James Andrews performing the surgery. Fujikawa faces a long road to recovery but he should come back at close to full strength.

Insight: Fujikawa hasn't pitched since early April due to a strained right forearm. He'll return to a setup role, as Kevin Gregg has gone 5-for-5 in save chances recently. However, Gregg is as shaky as they come, so we could see Fujikawa regain the role eventually.

Insight: Fujikawa threw 32 pitches in a bullpen session Monday, according to Carrie Muskat of He'll throw one more bullpen before starting his assignment. Cubs manager Dale Sveum indicated that he's still going with a closer-by-committee approach, but Fujikawa is his best option.

Insight: Marmol has blown a save and came close to blowing two others this season. He has allowed five runs, six hits, two walks and two homers in 1 2/3 innings. Fujikawa gave up three runs on four hits in the eighth inning Sunday but he is definitely a safer option than Marmol given his history of success in Japan.
