Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
Here are our initial impressions of the Wild Card Weekend fantasy action from Saturday.
Cincinnati at Houston -
Bengals' quarterback Andy Dalton had a couple of good opportunities to hit his wideouts on a deep ball, but his passes were underthrown each time and he ended up with very poor fantasy numbers.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran well when asked (11-for-63 yards), he just wasn't asked enough.
When you have as talented a receiver as A.J. Green on your roster an offensive coordinator should be fired for not getting him the ball for an entire first half. Green finished the day with five catches for 80 yards in half-a-day's work.
That was exactly what fantasy owners expected from the Texans - a huge dose of Arian Foster. His 40 touches were a season high as was his 174 yards from scrimmage. Fantasy owners should expect Houston to try this strategy again next weekend against the Patriots in an attempt to keep the ball away from Tom Brady.
The second-best fantasy total on the Texans' roster came from place-kicker Shayne Graham who was a perfect 4-of-4 on field goal attempts.
Minnesota at Green Bay -
Vikings quarterback Joe Webb looked like a man who hadn't thrown an official NFL pass all season - which in fact was true. He couldn't have hit the lake, while floating on a boat in the middle of it.
After yielding 409 rushing yards to Adrian Peterson in two regular season games, the Green Bay Packers learned how to defend him by not allowing him to cut to the outside. He averaged 7.4 ypg in the regular season, but a pedestrian 4.5 ypc yesterday.
Aaron Rodgers was in complete control, but didn't put up huge fantasy numbers because the Packers ran two scores into the end zone. That was a rarity for Green Bay, who rushed for two or more touchdowns just twice in 16 regular season games.
For the two injured but playing Green Bay receivers, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, they caught just four balls combined all day. Unfortunately, the Packers have so much talent at the receiving position that Rodgers doesn't need to force the ball to any one wideout. The result is it's much more difficult to predict fantasy totals for the Green Bay receiving corps.
The Packers offense and defense figure to have a much tougher time next weekend in San Francisco.
