Tolliver's travels

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Need a big man for the final stretch run? Ok, there isn't a lot available, but you could take a "flyer" on Golden State Warriors center-forward Anthony Tolliver.

Tolliver is coming off a great game, having posted a career-high 30 points, six rebounds and three assists in the Warriors' 131-121 win over the New Orleans Hornets Wednesday night.

For the season he's averaging just 10.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg and 1.7 apg, but he's been better this month, posting 12.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 2.7 apg. That's a huge improvement over his rookie year when he got into just 19 games and didn't have any fantasy value.

What with Golden State's overused injury list and particularly with the injuries to the Warriors' big men (Kelenna Azubuike, Vladimir Radmanovic, Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf, Brandan Wright), Tolliver is getting a chance to play big minutes. With big minutes come big statistics, or in this case, enough to warrant a fantasy owner's attention.

Tolliver went undrafted after a career at Creighton University. He spent the 2007 preseason in the Cleveland training camp, but played for Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League. After that season, he went abroad to the German Basketball Bundesliga before returning to the states and signing with the San Antonio Spurs for part of the 2008 season. He appeared in a total of 19 games for the Spurs that year before being waived in January 2009. In 2009-10 he's signed 10-day contracts with New Orleans, Portland and Golden State before the Warriors signed him for the remainder of this season.

The Warriors play three games in the next four days which should give Tolliver a chance to show what he can do.
