Azubuike could fill a short-term need

Kelenna Azubuike scored 31 points of the Warriors' 146 on Monday night.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors are a run-and-gun outfit, which makes for great fantasy numbers, even for a borderline starter like Kelenna Azubuike.

Azubuike is one of six Warriors, who the coach has said is the team's starter, which is a bit interesting since you can only put five guys on the floor at once.

The 25-year-old guard/forward posted solid numbers in 2008-09 - 14.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 1.6 apg in more than 32 minutes. However, the addition of rookie first- round draft choice Stephen Curry appears to have take away some of his time at the guard position and his minutes are down to around 25.5 in the season's first six games.

There is good news however, for Azubuike owners, not Golden State Warrior fans. Center Andris Biedrins (back) is likely out for up to two weeks and during that time the team will have to "go small." That means, they'll pick up the pace even more and Azubuike's minutes should climb once again.

Despite the seven-minute drop in court time, Azubuike is averaging more in 2009 than last season (15.5 ppg) and scored 31 points of the Warriors' 146 on Monday night against Minnesota.

The London born, Oklahoma raised forward is only owned in about 23% of all leagues and could be a good pickup for the next few weeks.
