Orlando Magic Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Nikola Vucevic, CHot4/17/2013 11:00:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic extended his double-double streak to eight games Wednesday in a season-ending loss at Miami.
Insight: He's averaging 20 ppg and 15.8 rpg in his last six contests. Vucevic had an incredibly strong sophomore campaign for the Magic (13.1 ppg, 11.9 rpg in 77 games). He should come off the board pretty quick at next fall's fantasy draft.
Jameer Nelson, G4/17/2013 6:34:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (ankle) will miss the regular season finale on Wednesday.
Insight: Beno Udrih is averaging 14.5 points, 7.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals as the starting point guard. Nelson missed 26 games this season with a variety of ailments and finished up with 14.7 ppg, 7.4 apg, 3.7 rpg, 1.3 spg and 2.2 3pt.
Nikola Vucevic, C4/15/2013 10:48:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic tormented the Bulls Monday for his 45th double-double of the season (17 points, 14 boards).
Insight: In a year full of disappointments for the Magic, Vucevic has been the one bright spot. He should be a candidate for the NBA's Most Improved Player Award this season.
Jameer Nelson, G4/15/2013 6:35:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson will take a seat Monday versus the Bulls. His ankle is still bothering him.
Insight: In all likelihood, Nelson's season is over. There's still time for owners to jump on the Beno Udrih (15.2 ppg, 8.3 apg in April) bandwagon. Orlando's interim floor general is still available in over 30 percent of ESPN leagues.
Jameer Nelson, G4/13/2013 4:30:00 PM
Description: Josh Robbins from the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Magic guard Jameer Nelson won't be active for Saturday night's game against Boston. He's missed the past two weeks with a sprained ankle.
Insight: At this point, the possibility of Nelson returning before the end of the regular season seems like a long shot. Fantasy owners can expect a heavy dose of Beno Udrih (8.1 ppg, 4.4 apg) Saturday versus the Celtics.
Beno Udrih, GHot4/10/2013 9:56:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Beno Udrih had 13 points, 11 assists, four rebounds and two steals in 47 minutes Wednesday versus the Bucks, his former team.
Insight: Udrih came over with Tobias Harris in the J.J. Redick trade and has emerged as a reliable fantasy point guard in the wake of another Jameer Nelson injury. He came into Wednesday's game averaging 16.8 points, 8.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.8 threes over his last six games.
Nikola Vucevic, CHot4/10/2013 9:55:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic had 30 points, 20 boards, five assists, one steal and two blocks in a massive fantasy performance Wednesday versus the Bucks.
Insight: Vucevic has recorded two straight 20-20 games and six straight double-doubles since returning from a concussion.
Tobias Harris, FHot4/10/2013 9:52:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Tobias Harris torched his old team, the Milwaukee Bucks, for 30 points on 13-of-20 shooting (3-4 3PT), 19 rebounds and five assists Wednesday.
Insight: Harris has busted out after being traded to Orlando as part of package for J.J. Redick. He's averaging 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 1.4 blocks over 24 games as a member of the Magic.
Hedo Turkoglu, F4/10/2013 5:38:00 PM
Description: According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Magic have "essentially shut down" healthy veterans Hedo Turkoglu and Al Harrington for the season.
Insight: The Magic are giving their minutes to younger players. Turkoglu has played 11 games this season. He broke his hand in the season opener and was suspended 20 games for testing positive for a banned substance. Harrington missed most of the season with a knee injury and has played just 10 games. Both are recovered from their injuries now but the Magic need to see Tobias Harris, Maurice Harkless and Andrew Nicholson.
Jameer Nelson, G4/9/2013 12:14:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (right ankle sprain) is out indefinitely.
Insight: Nelson has missed the last five games after leaving on March 29 with the injury and there is no incentive for him to return this season. Beno Udrih is averaging 18.2 points, 7.8 assists while Nelson has been sidelined.
Nikola Vucevic, CHot4/7/2013 9:11:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic racked up 21 points and 21 rebounds Sunday in a loss versus the Cavaliers.
Insight: He also came away with six assists and two blocks. The second-year center has been absolutely sensational since returning from a concussion late last week (16.4 ppg, 15.6 rpg in his last five games). Vucevic might be playing as well as any center in the league right now. For fantasy purposes, he's a must-start.
Tobias Harris, F4/7/2013 9:07:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Tobias Harris had a strong fantasy performance Sunday against the Cavaliers.
Insight: Harris collected 26 points and 12 rebounds in the 91-85 loss. He was much more efficient from the field in this game than he had been in his previous four (29.6 percent shooting compared to 57.9 percent Sunday). Harris has now logged 40 minutes or more in each of his last seven games.
Moe Harkless, FHot4/7/2013 5:54:00 PM
Description: Magic small forward Moe Harkless will be available for Sunday's game versus the Cavaliers. He had been a game-time decision because of a sore knee.
Insight: Prior to Friday when Harkless left after just eight minutes, he had averaged 20.3 ppg in his previous four games. If his knee holds up, Harkless should be in that same neighborhood of 15-to-20 points Sunday against Cleveland.
Jameer Nelson, G4/7/2013 11:21:00 AM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (ankle sprain) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Cleveland.
Insight: Nelson has missed the last four games after leaving on March 29 with the injury. Beno Udrih is averaging 19.5 points, 8.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 2.5 threes in the last four games and should be scooped up in all leagues.
Moe Harkless, F4/7/2013 11:19:00 AM
Description: Orlando forward Maurice Harkless (knee) will be a game-time decision Sunday against the Cavaliers.
Insight: Harkless left Friday's game at Chicago after just eight minutes with knee soreness. He had played at least 41 minutes in seven straight games. Andrew Nicholson would likely start if Harkless can't go but he offers minimal fantasy value.
Beno Udrih, G4/5/2013 10:36:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Beno Udrih surprised fantasy owners by scoring 27 points in 36 minutes Friday against Chicago.
Insight: He's shot much better from the field since his 8-for-23 outing a week ago in Atlanta (21-of-38 over his last three games). Jameer Nelson doesn't appear to be any closer to a return so it looks like Udrih will be running the show in Orlando for a while longer.
Moe Harkless, F4/5/2013 8:44:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Moe Harkless left Friday night's game against the Bulls after injuring his left foot.
Insight: Half the team is injured so this is the last thing head coach Jacque Vaughn needs right now. Though not a particularly usefull fantasy player, DeQuan Jones should see a heavy workload at the three if the rookie Harkless is unable to return.
Jameer Nelson, G4/5/2013 12:14:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (ankle sprain) is doubtful for Friday's game against Chicago even though he said he could return to action soon.
Insight: Nelson has missed the last three games. Beno Udrih has benefited the most from Nelson's absence. He's averaged 15.6 ppg, 9.0 apg and 4.0 rpg in his last three games.
Maurice Harkless, FHot4/3/2013 10:42:00 PM
Description: Magic small forward Maurice Harkless had 18 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 42 minutes Wednesday night versus the Spurs.
Insight: Harkless is averaging 19.8 ppg over his last five games. He has been a reliable contributor since the All-Star break and should be owned in more than 40 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
Jameer Nelson, G4/3/2013 9:05:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (ankle sprain) will take shots Thursday in Chicago and could play Friday against the Bulls, according to John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com.
Insight: Nelson has missed the last three games, including Wednesday. E'Twaun Moore was expected to see the biggest boost in fantasy value with Nelson out but instead it's been Beno Udrih who has benefited the most from Nelson's absence. He's averaged 15.6 ppg, 9.0 apg and 4.0 rpg in his last three games.
Jameer Nelson, G4/3/2013 2:22:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson won't be on the floor Wednesday against San Antonio. He's still recovering from a sprained ankle.
Insight: E'Twaun Moore was expected to see the biggest boost in fantasy value with Nelson out but instead it's been Beno Udrih who has benefited the most from Nelson's absence. He's averaged 15.6 ppg, 9.0 apg and 4.0 rpg in his last three games which certainly makes him fantasy worthy.
Jameer Nelson, G4/1/2013 4:11:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson won't be on the floor Monday against Houston. He's still recovering from a sprained ankle.
Insight: E'Twaun Moore was expected to see the biggest boost in fantasy value with Nelson out but instead it's been Beno Udrih who has benefited the most from Nelson's absence. He's averaged 15 ppg, 8.5 apg and 5.5 rpg in his last two games.
Jameer Nelson, G4/1/2013 11:28:00 AM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson is questionable for Monday's game against Houston. Nelson sprained his right ankle Friday in a win against Washington.
Insight: Nelson and the Magic have nothing to play for so there is little reason to bring him back before he is 100 percent healthy. E'Twaun Moore should be a decent short-term solution for fantasy owners. He's averaging 11.7 ppg and 5.3 apg in 18 starts this season.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/31/2013 9:27:00 AM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic returned from a concussion Saturday to score 17 points in 39 minutes of action.
Insight: He also corralled 15 rebounds. That's been pretty much the norm for Vucevic in the second half of the season. Expect him to continue his double-double binge Monday against Houston.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/30/2013 6:58:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic is back in the lineup after missing five games with a concussion.
Insight: He'll bump Kyle O'Quinn out of the starting five. Breakout star Tobias Harris might see a dip in production as well. Harris has averaged 20.6 ppg and 9.0 rpg without Vucevic in the lineup compared to just 15.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg when he plays.
Jameer Nelson, G3/30/2013 6:28:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson won't be in the lineup Saturday against the Hawks. Nelson sprained his right ankle Friday in a win against Washington.
Insight: E'Twaun Moore should be a decent short-term solution for fantasy owners. He's averaging 12.1 ppg and 5.6 apg in 17 starts this season.
Kyle O'Quinn, CHot3/30/2013 10:49:00 AM
Description: Orlando backup center Kyle O'Quinn has played well in place of injured starter Nikola Vucevic, averaging 12.4 ppg and 8.8 rpg over the past five-game span.
Insight: O'Quinn, who has started the last five games in Vucevic's place, had produced well until Friday's game with Washington (four points, four rebounds) and is still a viable fantasy option.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/30/2013 10:45:00 AM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic missed Friday's game against Washington with an ongoing concussion issue and is expected to miss Saturday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: He's dealing with a concussion so nothing is for sure and he has not yet been cleared to play. Kyle O'Quinn, who has started the last five games in Vucevic's place, had produced well until Friday's game with Washington (four points, four rebounds) and is still a viable fantasy option.
Jameer Nelson, G3/30/2013 10:43:00 AM
Description: Magic PG Jameer Nelson suffered a sprained ankle in the first quarter of Friday's game and is doubtful for Saturday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: Nelson has already missed 17 games this season due to a variety of injuries. As always, E'Twaun Moore gets bump in value when Nelson is out. Beno Udrih has been playing better as well.
Tobias Harris, FHot3/29/2013 9:36:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Tobias Harris continues to roll. He set a new career high with 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting in 45 minutes of play Friday night.
Insight: Harris also had 11 boards, three steals and three blocks. The forward is averaging an impressive 26.3 ppg over his last three games and 16.5 ppg in 18 games since joining the Magic in a trade with Milwaukee. He should be owned in all leagues.
Jameer Nelson, G3/29/2013 9:01:00 PM
Description: Magic PG Jameer Nelson suffered a sprained ankle in the first quarter of Friday's game.
Insight: Nelson has already missed 17 games this season due to a variety of injuries. As always, E'Twaun Moore gets bump in value when Nelson is out.
Andrew Nicholson, F3/29/2013 6:27:00 PM
Description: Orlando power forward Andrew Nicholson will return to action Friday against the Wizards after missing Wednesday's game.
Insight: Nikola Vucevic (concussion) is still out but Tobias Harris and Kyle O'Quinn have emerged as the starters in his absence. Nicholson will play a bench role and offer inconsistent fantasy production.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/29/2013 2:20:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic is expected to miss Friday's game against Washington with an ongoing concussion issue.
Insight: He's dealing with a concussion so nothing is for sure and he has not yet been cleared to play. Kyle O'Quinn, who has started the last four games in Vucevic's place, has produced 14.5 ppg and 10.0 rpg over that span and is a viable fantasy option.
Tobias Harris, FHot3/27/2013 10:00:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Tobias Harris scored a career-high 29 points Wednesday in a loss to the Bobcats.
Insight: The injury-depleted Magic have now lost eight in a row. Over that stretch Harris has averaged 16.2 ppg on 46.9 percent shooting (46-for-99).
Kyle O'Quinn, CHot3/27/2013 9:53:00 PM
Description: Filling in for Nikola Vucevic at center, Kyle O'Quinn collected 23 points, 11 rebounds and six assists Wednesday in a loss at Charlotte.
Insight: He's the tallest player the Magic have right now and that has to count for something. O'Quinn should continue to be a double-double threat until Vuecvic comes back from his head injury.
Kyle O'Quinn, CHot3/26/2013 2:02:00 PM
Description: Orlando backup center Kyle O'Quinn has played well in place of injured Nikola Vucevic and should continue to do so until the starter returns.
Insight: O'Quinn is averaging 11.6 ppg and 9.7 rpg over the last three games and is a viable fantasy option.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/26/2013 1:59:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic is expected to miss Wednesday's game against Charlotte with a concussion and flu-like symptoms.
Insight: He's dealing with a concussion so nothing is for sure. Kyle O'Quinn, who has started the last three games in Vucevic's place, producing 11.6 ppg and 9.7 rpg over that span, is a viable fantasy option.
Jameer Nelson, G3/25/2013 10:15:00 PM
Description: Jameer Nelson led the Magic with 27 points and 12 assists Monday against the Heat.
Insight: Nelson had been averaging just 10 ppg in his previous three outings. The 12 dimes are the most Nelson has had in a game since March 6th. Coincidentally, that contest was also against Miami.
Andrew Nicholson, F3/25/2013 9:09:00 PM
Description: Orlando power forward Andrew Nicholson sprained his ankle early in Monday's game against Miami and did not return.
Insight: That's a bummer for fantasy owners who were hoping Nicholson would see more minutes in the absence of Nikola Vucevic (concussion). With Nicholson and Vucevic both sidelined, Kyle O'Quinn is Orlando's only active player taller than 6-foot-8.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/25/2013 6:48:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic is out for Monday's game versus Miami.
Insight: He's dealing with a concussion. Kyle O'Quinn has started the last two games in Vucevic's place, producing 11.5 ppg and 11.5 rpg over that span.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/25/2013 11:43:00 AM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic (mild concussion, flu) missed the Magic's game with Oklahoma City and is doubtful for Monday's game against Miami.
Insight: Concussion are tough to predict with all the testing involved these days. Vucevic has been one of this season's biggest surprises, averaging 12.4 ppg, 11.5 rpg and 1.0 bpg.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/23/2013 10:26:00 AM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic (mild concussion) missed the Magic's game with Oklahoma City and is questionable for Monday.
Insight: Concussion are tough to predict with all the testing involved these days. Vucevic has been one of this season's biggest surprises, averaging 12.4 ppg, 11.5 rpg and 1.0 bpg.
Moe Harkless, FHot3/22/2013 10:51:00 PM
Description: Magic small forward Moe Harkless exploded for 25 points and nine rebounds Friday in a loss to Oklahoma City.
Insight: That's a new career-high for the rookie out of St. John's. He's now scored in double figures in each of Orlando's last six contests.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/22/2013 6:54:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic won't be available for Friday night's game against the Thunder. It had been reported earlier that Vucevic had an illness but the real reason for his absence is a mild concussion.
Insight: That's a lot more serious than the flu. With Vucevic out, the Magic won't have anyone taller than 6-foot-8 in their starting lineup. That could be a recipe for disaster against a talented Oklahoma City squad.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/22/2013 1:10:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic has been dealing with an illness and missed the morning shootaround making him questionable for Friday night's game against the Thunder, according to Orlando Sentinel writer Josh Robbins.
Insight: Since Glen Davis went down with a foot injury, Vucevic (12.4 ppg, 11.5 rpg) has been Orlando's most valuable fantasy asset so he's going to be tough to replace. Andrew Nicholson (8.1 ppg) and Kyle O'Quinn (3.1 ppg) both stand to see some extra minutes tonight if Vucevic is sidelined.
Al Harrington, F3/21/2013 10:34:00 AM
Description: Magic coach Jacque Vaughn told the Orlando Sentinel that Al Harrington might watch the rest of the 2012-13 season from the sidelines.
Insight: Vaughn already knows what Harrington (5.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg) can do so he'll opt to test out some of his youngsters down the stretch. The veteran Harrington can be dropped from all fantasy leagues at this point.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/20/2013 7:07:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic has an illness and won't be in the lineup Wednesday against the Knicks.
Insight: Vucevic (12.4 ppg, 11.5 rpg) is easily Orlando's most valuable fantasy asset so he's going to be tough to replace. Andrew Nicholson (8.1 ppg) and Kyle O'Quinn (3.1 ppg) both stand to see some extra minutes tonight with Vucevic under the weather.
Moe Harkless, F3/17/2013 6:10:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Maurice Harkless set a new career high with 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting Sunday versus the Bucks. He added nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 43 minutes of play.
Insight: Harkless has been a valuable fantasy contributor since the All-Star break. Over his last 15 games, he's averaging 12.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 0.7 blocks.
Nikola Vucevic, CHot3/17/2013 4:21:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic delivered 20 points and 15 rebounds Sunday in a loss to Milwaukee.
Insight: Vucevic is averaging 20.5 ppg and 14.5 rpg over his last two games. The unheralded Vucevic has been a fantasy bargain in 2012-13. Don't expect that to happen again next season.
Andrew Nicholson, F3/16/2013 5:13:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Andrew Nicholson skipped practice on Saturday because of an illness. SOURCE: Josh Robbins, Orlando Sentinel
Insight: The Magic are listing him as questionable for Sunday's tilt in Milwaukee. Nicholson (3.3 ppg in his last three appearances) has mostly been a nonfactor since the team acquired Tobias Harris at the trade deadline (15.9 ppg in 11 games since the trade).
Tobias Harris, FHot3/15/2013 10:41:00 PM
Description: Orlando small forward Tobias Harris had 19 points, six rebounds and three steals in 40 minutes Friday against the Thunder.
Insight: Harris has been a major contributor since joining Orlando via trade from Milwaukee. He's averaging 15.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 11 games with the Magic.
Tobias Harris, FHot3/9/2013 5:50:00 PM
Description: Orlando small forward Tobias Harris will make his second straight start Sunday against Philadelphia.
Insight: Harris is averaging 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in eight games with Orlando since coming over in a trade with Milwaukee. His one problem has been staying out of foul trouble -- he has picked up 11 personal fouls over the last two games and at least three in his last seven contests.
Nikola Vucevic, C3/6/2013 10:13:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic has played the Miami Heat twice this season and has recorded two 20-20 games. He had 25 points and 21 boards Wednesday as Orlando nearly ended Miami's now 16-game winning streak.
Insight: Vucevic had 20 points and 29 rebounds on Dec. 31 and that game has served as the jumping off point for Vucevic's season. He averaged 10.5 ppg and 9.8 rpg prior to that game and has put up 13.8 ppg and 12.9 rpg since.
Jameer Nelson, G3/4/2013 7:55:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson will start Monday's game against New Orleans. He's missed Orlando's last six games because of a knee injury.
Insight: E'Twaun Moore (8.8 ppg) will head back to the bench. Nelson carries lifetime averages of 9.2 ppg and 5.2 apg against the Hornets.
Jameer Nelson, G3/4/2013 10:03:00 AM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson (knee) has now missed six games in a row with an injury that everyone claimed wasn't serious.
Insight: The Magic's 16-44 record is the culprit. There is no reason to push a player to return when the team is going nowhere. Replacement E'Twaun Moore has produced 12.1 ppg and 5.5 apg in 35 mpg over 16 starts this season.
Jameer Nelson, G3/3/2013 5:03:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson (knee) will not play Sunday against the Grizzlies. SOURCE: John Denton, OrlandoMagic.com
Insight: This team is headed nowhere fast so rushing Nelson (14.5 ppg, 7.4 apg) back from injury doesn't make sense. Sunday will be his sixth straight absence. Replacement E'Twaun Moore has produced 12.1 ppg and 5.5 apg in 35 mpg over 15 starts this season.
Jameer Nelson, G3/3/2013 3:43:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson skipped shootaround on Sunday and is "50/50" to play against the Grizzlies tonight. SOURCE: John Denton, OrlandoMagic.com
Insight: This team is headed nowhere fast so rushing Nelson (14.5 ppg, 7.4 apg) back from injury doesn't make sense. We're guessing Nelson sits out again, which will open the door for second-year guard E'Twaun Moore (8.7 ppg) to make his 16th start of the season.
Moe Harkless, F3/1/2013 10:14:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Maurice Harkless made 5-of-7 from the field, including a career-high three 3-pointers, with four rebounds, three assists and a steal Friday against Houston.
Insight: Harkless averaged 34 mpg in February and he has upped his production since the All-Star break to 14.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks in seven games. The team seems committed to getting Harkless and Tobias Harris 30-plus minutes at the three and four.
Tobias Harris, FHot3/1/2013 9:53:00 PM
Description: Orlando small forward Tobias Harris had a team-high 27 points with 10 rebounds, one steal and three treys Friday against Houston, his fourth straight double-digit scoring game since joining the team.
Insight: Harris was acquired in the J.J. Redick trade and has produced 20 ppg and 7.3 rpg in 29 minutes per game with the Magic. Be sure to scoop him up, as he'll continue to get at least 25 minutes per game for this rebuilding Orlando team.
Jameer Nelson, G3/1/2013 2:22:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (strained patellar tendon in his left knee) is doubtful for Friday's game against Houston.
Insight: The team continues to say that the injury isn't serious, but Friday would be his fifth absence in a row. E'Twaun Moore is averaging 12.3 points, 5.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 threes in 35 minutes per game as a starter this season (14 games).
Jameer Nelson, G2/28/2013 3:05:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (strained patellar tendon in his left knee) is doubtful for Friday's game SOURCE: Josh Robbins, Orlando Sentinel
Tobias Harris, FHot2/27/2013 9:40:00 PM
Description: Orlando small forward Tobias Harris led all scorers with 23 points Wednesday night against Sacramento.
Insight: He's averaging 17.7 ppg since coming over from Milwaukee in the J.J. Redick deal at last week's trade deadline. The former Tennessee standout has seen a 1.4 percent rise in ownership in ESPN leagues over the last week. We'd expect that number to rise even higher after tonight's performance.
Jameer Nelson, G2/27/2013 4:14:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (strained patellar tendon in his left knee) will miss Wednesday's game against the Kings. SOURCE: Josh Robbins, Orlando Sentinel
Insight: The team continues to say that the injury isn't serious, but this will be his fourth absence in a row. E'Twaun Moore is averaging 12.4 points, 5.1 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 threes in 36 minutes as a starter this season (13 games).
Jameer Nelson, G2/27/2013 12:04:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (strained patellar tendon in his left knee) did not travel with the team to Philadelphia for Tuesday's game, but could return to the lineup as early as Wednesday.
Insight: The team continues to say that the injury isn't serious, but he's missed three games in a row. E'Twaun Moore gets the big minutes at point guard with Nelson (14.5 ppg, 7.4 apg) in street clothes and has scored 12 points in each of the three games Nelson was sidelined.
Nikola Vucevic, C2/26/2013 9:22:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic grabbed 19 rebounds to go with 12 points in 36 minutes Tuesday night against Philadelphia.
Insight: Vucevic went from the Sixers to Orlando in the four-team Dwight Howard trade. Vucevic came into Tuesday's game averaging 12.3 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, but those numbers are pulled down slightly by his November averages. Since December 1 the center is averaging over 13 points and nearly 13 rebounds.
Tobias Harris, F2/26/2013 9:20:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Tobias Harris is averaging 15 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 27.5 minutes over his first two games with the team.
Insight: Harris has upside playing off Orlando's thin bench but his value will be limited by Al Harrington, who made his season debut Tuesday.
Al Harrington, F2/26/2013 6:10:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Al Harrington (knee) plans to play for the first time this season Tuesday against Philadelphia. SOURCE: Orlando Sentinel

Tobias Harris, F2/23/2013 10:12:00 PM
Description: Tobias Harris had 14 points, six rebounds and three blocks over 24:38 in his first game with the Orlando Magic.
Insight: Harris started 14 games in November for the Bucks but quickly fell out of the rotation. A move to the Magic has rejuvenated his fantasy value. It's noteworthy that his minutes came at the expense of Andrew Nicholson (22 minutes, 8 points) and not Moe Harkless (35 minutes, 13 points).
E'Twaun Moore, G2/23/2013 12:08:00 PM
Description: Orlando Magic backup point guard E'Twaun Moore will likely get another start with Jameer Nelson out for Friday night versus Memphis.
Insight: Moore got the big minutes at point guard with Nelson in street clothes on Friday, but shot an ugly 5-for-18 while scoring 12 points. He did earn seven assists and four rebounds. He could still be a useful fantasy guard for as long as Nelson is sidelined.

Hakim Warrick, F2/21/2013 8:51:00 PM
Description: The Magic have waived forward Hakim Warrick hours after acquiring him from the Bobcats for Josh McRoberts.

Description: Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic point guard Jameer Nelson has been diagnosed with a strained patella tendon in his left knee.

Description: Magic forward Maurice Harkless has jumped out of the All-Star break with averages of 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks over his last two games.
Insight: Harkless has been playing 35 minutes per game in February. He's still not a consistent game-to-game offensive option but does offer worthwhile defensive numbers.
Jameer Nelson, G2/20/2013 10:53:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson left Wednesday's game against Dallas with a knee injury.
Insight: Nelson's knee buckled on a drive. He couldn't participate in the ensuing jump ball and had to be helped to the bench before heading to the locker room. The point guard has had a good season but he hasn't been able to go more than a few games without suffering a new injury.
J.J. Redick, G2/20/2013 7:02:00 PM
Description: Memphis sports radio host Chris Vernon hears that the Grizzlies are looking to trade for Magic sharp-shooter J.J. Redick.

J.J. Redick, G2/10/2013 12:16:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard J.J. Redick is questionable for Sunday's game against Portland. He's still out with an injured right shoulder.

Nikola Vucevic, CHot2/8/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Magic rebounding machine Nikola Vucevic tallied 25 points and 13 boards Friday in a loss to Cleveland.

Description: Orlando guard J.J. Redick won't be available for Friday's game against Cleveland. He's still out with an injured shoulder.

Description: Magic shooting guard J.J. Redick is questionable for Friday's game against Cleveland with a shoulder injury.
Insight: Redick is currently producing personal highs with 15.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 4.5 apg. The Magic should have both Arron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson on the floor, so they can better absorb the absence of Redick.
Nikola Vucevic, CHot2/6/2013 9:44:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic corralled 14 rebounds Wednesday in a loss against the Clippers.
Insight: Vucevic (15 points) has grabbed double-digit rebounds in each of his last five games. With Glen Davis out with a broken foot, Vucevic is really the team's only presence in the low post. The second-year center should continue to have his way in the paint as the season moves forward.
Jameer Nelson, G2/6/2013 6:28:00 PM
Description: Magic guard Jameer Nelson (forearm) will play Wednesday against the Clippers.
Insight: Nelson will play, but Arron Afflalo and J.J. Redick won't. That means E'Twaun Moore will still see plenty of minutes, even if he comes off the bench.
J.J. Redick, G2/6/2013 12:40:00 PM
Description: Magic shooting guard J.J. Redick has been downgraded to out for Wednesday's game against the LA Clippers with a shoulder injury. The good news is that Tuesday's MRI showed no structural damage to the shoulder.
Insight: Redick is currently producing personal highs with 15.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 4.5 apg. The Magic will also likely be missing Jameer Nelson and Arron Afflalo.
Moe Harkless, FHot2/6/2013 11:15:00 AM

E'Twaun Moore, G2/6/2013 11:12:00 AM
Description: Orlando Magic backup guard E'Twaun Moore will likely get another start with Jameer Nelson listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game with the Clippers.
Insight: Moore played 37 minutes versus Philadelphia on Monday and produced 18 points, three rebounds and two assists. His play as a starter is worthy of a attention from fantasy owners if Nelson continues to watch games in street clothes.
J.J. Redick, G2/6/2013 11:10:00 AM
Description: Magic shooting guard J.J. Redick is doubtful for Wednesday's game against the LA Clippers with a shoulder injury.

Jameer Nelson, G2/6/2013 11:07:00 AM
Description: Magic guard Jameer Nelson is doubtful for Wednesday's game against the LA Clippers with a bruised left forearm.
Insight: Nelson's X-rays came back negative so it shouldn't be a long-term injury but he missed two straight games. He's having a solid season averaging 14.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.2 apg, 1.3 spg and 2.1 threes. Also likely missing for Wednesday's game with the Clippers will be Arron Afflalo and J.J. Redick. Description: Magic guard Jameer Nelson is expected to miss Monday's game against Philadelphia with a bruised left forearm, according to OrlandoMagic.com.
Insight: Nelson's X-rays came back negative so it shouldn't be a long-term injury but he missed Saturday's game as well. He's having a solid season averaging 14.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.2 apg, 1.3 spg and 2.1 threes. Also missing for the games against the 76ers will be Arron Afflalo and J.J. Redick.
J.J. Redick, G2/4/2013 3:39:00 PM
Description: Magic guard J.J. Redick's "minor" shoulder injury has apparently taken a turn for the worse overnight and he'll miss Monday's game against Philadelphia, according to John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com.
Insight: On Tuesday, Redick will have an MRI done on the shoulder. He is currently producing personal highs with 15.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 4.5 apg. The Magic will also be missing Jameer Nelson and Arron Afflalo.
Jameer Nelson, G2/4/2013 11:15:00 AM
Description: Magic guard Jameer Nelson is questionable for Monday's game against Philadelphia with a bruised left forearm.
Insight: Nelson's X-rays came back negative so it shouldn't be a long-term injury but he missed Saturday's game. He's having a solid season averaging 14.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.2 apg, 1.3 spg and 2.1 threes.
Moe Harkless, F2/3/2013 1:14:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Moe Harkless posted a career-high 19 points Saturday against Milwaukee but he also may have broken his nose.
Insight: Or at least that's what the Orlando Sentinel is speculating. Despite the injury, Harkless still played 42 minutes on Saturday. If his nose is actually broken, he'll probably just play with a mask on Monday against the 76ers.
Jameer Nelson, G2/2/2013 7:48:00 PM
Description: Magic guard Jameer Nelson won't be available for Saturday's game in Milwaukee after injuring his forearm Friday against the Celtics.
Insight: Nelson's X-rays came back negative so he shouldn't miss more than a game or two. We should see Ish Smith (2.0 ppg, 1.5 apg) start at point guard Saturday against the Bucks.
Jameer Nelson, G2/2/2013 11:42:00 AM
Description: Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson left Friday's game with a left forearm contusion and is questionable for Saturday's game against Milwaukee.

E'Twaun Moore, G2/1/2013 10:03:00 PM
Description: Magic guard E'Twaun Moore had 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 24 minutes Friday.
Insight: Jameer Nelson only played 18:30 due to a forearm contusion. Moore had success as a fill-in for Nelson earlier this season and is worth a speculative add for Nelson owners in case the forearm injury turns out to be something serious.
Andrew Nicholson, F2/1/2013 10:02:00 PM
Description: Magic rookie power forward Andrew Nicholson started and scored 14 points with 10 rebounds, one steal and two blocks in 33 minutes Friday versus Boston.
Insight: Nicholson is the first man who will try to replace Glen Davis (broken foot). He didn't do much in a handful of starts when Davis was out with a shoulder injury earlier this season, but we will have to keep an eye on him this time around.
Jameer Nelson, G2/1/2013 9:06:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson will not return to Friday's game. He has a left forearm contusion, according to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel.
Insight: Nelson badly jammed his wrist in the first half. He averaged 18.9 points, 8.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 3.0 threes in January and is having one of the best seasons of his career but also has dealt with a variety of injuries.
Glen Davis, F1/31/2013 12:57:00 PM
Description: Orlando power forward Glen Davis will have surgery on his fractured left foot Friday. He'll miss 8-12 weeks. SOURCE: Josh Robbins, Orlando Sentinel
Insight: Davis fractured his fifth metatarsal Wednesday night. He'll have a screw inserted into the foot to help stabilize the injury. With just under 11 weeks remaining in the regular season, Davis will have to make great progress in his recovery if he wants to play again. None of the Magic's power forwards stepped up when Davis missed 11 games earlier this season with a shoulder sprain, but guard Arron Afflalo and center Nikola Vucevic did see a spike in production during that stretch.
Glen Davis, F1/30/2013 10:35:00 PM
Description: Orlando power forward Glen Davis broke his left foot Wednesday against the Knicks.
Insight: Uh-oh. Big Baby must have done something to upset the fantasy gods because that's already his second significant injury of the season. This one might sideline him for the rest of the year. Moe Harkless (4.1 ppg) and Nikola Vucevic (11.9 ppg, 11.2 rpg) will have to pick up the slack.
Glen Davis, F1/30/2013 8:44:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Glen Davis injured his foot Wednesday against the Knicks and will be out for the rest of the game.
Insight: He scored just two points before exiting. Now the Magic will have to rely on Gustavo Ayon (3.6 ppg) and Andrew Nicholson (7.2 ppg) for production in the low post.
Moe Harkless, F1/30/2013 11:43:00 AM
Description: Orlando Magic SF Moe Harkless posted a career-high 16 points to go with four boards, two assists, three steals and two threes in 34 minutes with Arron Afflalo out of the lineup on Monday.

Description: Orlando forward Hedo Turkoglu (hand) scrimmaged Saturday, but there is still no timetable for his return.
Insight: Turkoglu broke his hand in the opening game of the season and was awful in five games after making his return at the end of December. He will continue to rehab and work on his conditioning and will return when he has confidence in his hand.
Nikola Vucevic, CHot1/27/2013 10:07:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic was a monster on the glass Sunday against the Pistons. He finished with 17 rebounds in 40 minutes of action.
Insight: The 22-year-old is now third in the NBA in rebounding at 11.3 rpg. That's almost as many as his predecessor Dwight Howard (12.0 rpg) is averaging for Los Angeles this season.

Description: Orlando guard J.J. Redick exploded for a season-high 31 points Sunday in a loss to Detroit.

Nikola Vucevic, CHot1/24/2013 10:18:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic's 19 points and 14 rebounds Thursday against the Raptors gave him his ninth double-double in 11 games this month.
Insight: He had nine boards apiece in the other two games so he wasn't far off from making it 11 consecutive double-doubles. The young center has been good for nearly 12 points and more than 11 boards per game this season.
J.J. Redick, GHot1/22/2013 7:11:00 PM
Description: Magic guard J.J. Redick will move into the starting lineup Tuesday against the Pistons. Orlando hasn't received much production out of the small forward position so the team will look to change things up with a starting five of Jameer Nelson, J.J. Redick, Arron Afflalo, Glen Davis and Nikola Vucevic.
Insight: Redick is having a career year, averaging 14.6 points, 4.5 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.3 threes per game with most of his games coming off the bench. Starting won't alter his value much since he already plays 31 mpg as a sub.
Al Harrington, F1/22/2013 9:46:00 AM
Description: Orlando forward Al Harrington is still sidelined after offseason knee surgery and is targeting a mid-February return, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.

Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (hip) started Sunday and played 38 minutes. He had 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and four threes.

Glen Davis, F1/20/2013 8:44:00 PM

Description: Magic guard E'Twaun Moore has scored 14 points over two games since returning from a sprained elbow.
Insight: Moore has had success as a fill-in for Jameer Nelson this season, averaging 13.3 points, 4.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds in seven starts, but Nelson is fully healthy and playing well right now.
Nikola Vucevic, CHot1/16/2013 10:47:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Nikola Vucevic helped out with 16 points and 15 boards Wednesday in a win over Indiana.
Insight: Vucevic has been playing out of his mind lately. In his last eight games, he's averaging 15.6 ppg and 16.1 rpg. He was a relative unknown before the season started but now Vucevic is quickly becoming a top fantasy target.
Glen Davis, F1/16/2013 6:39:00 PM
Description: Orlando power forward Glen Davis will start Wednesday against Indiana.
Insight: Davis came off the bench and played 18 minutes Monday in his return from a shoulder sprain. Despite his unusual build (6-foot-9, 289 pounds), Davis is a fairly consistent scorer for the Magic (15.9 ppg) and should be started in all fantasy leagues.
Glen Davis, F1/15/2013 6:17:00 PM

Description: Magic power forward Glen Davis (shoulder) will be active for Monday's game but it is still uncertain if he will play. SOURCE: Josh Robbins, Orlando Sentinel
Insight: Davis isn't starting but might come off the bench. Even if he does play he isn't likely to get enough minutes to produce his usual numbers on Monday, but fantasy owners should put him back in the lineup anyway since there are just eight games tonight.
E'Twaun Moore, G1/14/2013 9:56:00 AM
Description: Magic guard E'Twaun Moore (elbow) is questionable for Monday's game against Washington.
Insight: Moore (8.9 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 2.8 apg) is only a viable option when he's a starter, not coming off the bench. At the moment he's stuck behind a healthy Jameer Nelson who is playing some of the best ball of his career.

Insight: Its been about three weeks since the injury, so the return time is right in the predicted 4-to-6 week window. Fantasy owners are waiting patiently to get his 16.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.8 apg and 1.0 spg back in their lineup.
Jameer Nelson, GHot1/5/2013 10:20:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson knocked in 29 points Saturday in a loss to the Knicks.

Jameer Nelson, G1/2/2013 10:18:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson (hip) did his best to keep Orlando from losing its seventh straight game Wednesday versus the Bulls with 32 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and six threes but it wasn't enough.
Insight: Nelson missed the previous two games with a hip injury but that didn't seem to bother him one bit on Wednesday. The veteran point guard has played at a high level this season but hasn't been able to stay on the court.
Jameer Nelson, G1/2/2013 5:02:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson (hip) will play Wednesday against the Bulls, coach Jacque Vaughn said. SOURCE: Josh Robbins, Orlando Sentinel
Insight: Nelson and backup E'Twaun Moore (sprained left elbow) missed two straight games, leaving Ish Smith to man the point. Smith scored 13 points with six assists Saturday but just two points with two assists and four turnovers on Monday. Nelson will reclaim the starting job on Wednesday.
Jameer Nelson, G1/2/2013 3:10:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson, who didn't play in Monday's game against the Heat, is questionable for Wednesday's game against Chicago. He's dealing with a sore left hip.
Insight: Third-year guard Ishmael Smith (1.7 ppg) filled in for Nelson at point guard, because E'Twaun Moore was also sidelined.
Nikola Vucevic, CHot1/1/2013 4:56:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic nearly outrebounded the Heat by himself in Monday's overtime loss. Vucevic finished with 29 rebounds and added 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting.

Andrew Nicholson, F12/30/2012 1:03:00 PM
Description: Magic rookie power forward Andrew Nicholson scored a career-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting with seven rebounds and a steal Friday against the Raptors.
Insight: Nicholson replaced Gustavo Ayon in the starting lineup. Ayon had started the previous three games in place of the injured Glen Davis. Hedo Turkoglu (hand) returned last night, playing 23 minutes off the bench, and we might eventually see him move into the starting lineup, with Nicholson or Moe Harkless hitting the bench.
Jameer Nelson, G12/29/2012 7:48:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson is out for Saturday's game against the Raptors. He injured his hip in Friday night's loss to Washington.

Hedo Turkoglu, F12/29/2012 3:27:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Hedo Turkoglu (hand) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Toronto. SOURCE: Josh Robbins, Orlando Sentinel
Insight: Turkoglu broke his hand in the opening game of the season and hasn't played since. He averaged 10.9 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 threes last season and should come close to those numbers the rest of this season.
Jameer Nelson, GHot12/28/2012 9:58:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson followed up his season-high 28 points Wednesday with another solid effort Friday. He scored 16 points with four 3-pointers, eight assists and one steal against the Wizards.

E'Twaun Moore, G12/28/2012 8:18:00 PM

Jameer Nelson, G12/26/2012 10:09:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard Jameer Nelson scored a season-high 28 points Wednesday in a loss to New Orleans.
Insight: Nelson also racked up a game-high 10 assists. Fantasy owners could have done without the six turnovers but it's nice to see Nelson find his scoring touch again after struggling for much of the year.
Glen Davis, F12/20/2012 8:20:00 PM
Description: Magic power forward Glen Davis' shoulder injury will keep him sidelined for the next 4-to-6 weeks.
Insight: That's certainly a blow to fantasy owners. Orlando's other frontcourt options Andrew Nicholson (7.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg) and Gustavo Ayon (2.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg) won't come close to Davis' level of production.
Glen Davis, F12/20/2012 12:54:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Glen Davis has been diagnosed with a left shoulder sprain but luckily avoided structural damage. SOURCE: Orlando Magic official Twitter account
Insight: Davis (16 ppg, 7.9 rpg) left Wednesday's game in the final seconds after injuring his shoulder. We assume he'll miss Friday's game against the Raptors but fortunately didn't suffer a more serious injury.
Glen Davis, F12/19/2012 9:31:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Glen Davis injured his left shoulder late in Wednesday's win against the Wizards.
Insight: Davis wasn't able to shoot his free throws, suggesting that this could be a significant injury. If we had to guess, we'd say it's unlikely Davis will be on the floor Friday against Toronto.
Nikola Vucevic, CHot12/17/2012 9:31:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic has contributed three straight double-doubles. He went for 14 points, 11 boards and two blocks Monday against the Wolves.
Insight: Vucevic blocked 24 shots and had six double-doubles in his first 18 games but had a four-game slump with zero double-doubles and no blocks this month. He's averaging 10 ppg, 9.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks through 24 games.
Glen Davis, FHot12/17/2012 9:26:00 PM
Description: Magic power forward Glen Davis made 13-of-17 shots from the field for a game-high 28 points Monday in Orlando's win over Minnesota.
Insight: Davis has broken out of a brief cold spell with 48 points on 20-of-28 shooting the last two games. The Magic are a surprise 11-13 while the Lakers and Dwight Howard sit at 11-14.
E'Twaun Moore, G12/14/2012 9:54:00 PM
Description: Magic guard E'Twaun Moore is averaging 12 ppg during a streak of three-straight double-digit scoring games. He had 15 points Friday, his highest total since Nov. 18.
Insight: Moore only averaged 5.9 ppg in the 10 games prior to his current upswing. He'll only be a fantasy option if Jameer Nelson suffers another long-term injury.
J.J. Redick, G12/14/2012 9:50:00 PM
Description: Magic guard J.J. Redick is averaging 15 ppg in the month of December. He shot 6-of-12 (4-7 3PT) for 16 points with four rebounds and four assists Friday versus Golden State.
Insight: Redick has scored 13 or more points in six of seven games this month. He's averaging a career-high 13.9 ppg despite struggling from 3-point range. Even Friday's 4-of-7 only brings his season percentage to .337 from behind the arc.
Jameer Nelson, G12/14/2012 9:45:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson had 10 points and 11 assists with three rebounds, a steal and just one turnover Friday against Golden State, offsetting a cold night from the floor.
Insight: Nelson shot 4-of-14 to drop his season shooting percentage to 39.6 in 15 games. Nelson is still a fantasy-worthy point guard due to his 12.6 points, 6.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds 1.4 steals and a .923 free-throw percentage.
Glen Davis, F12/14/2012 9:40:00 PM
Description: Magic power forward Glen Davis had a streak of 16 straight double digit scoring efforts snapped Friday when he scored eight points with two rebounds against the Warriors.
Insight: Davis barely made the mark Wednesday with 10 points on 2-of-11 shooting. Keep starting him; he's averaging 15.5 ppg through 22 games and has blocked 10 shots in seven December games after rejecting just five total in all of November.
Nikola Vucevic, C12/14/2012 9:34:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds with 12 points Friday in a win over Golden State.
Insight: Vucevic has started all 22 games for the Magic this season and has no competition for the starting center job. He's averaging solid numbers as well -- 9.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.
Moe Harkless, FCold12/13/2012 11:06:00 AM
Description: An Orlando Sentinel report suggests Moe Harkless could be in danger of losing his spot as the Magic's starting small forward.
Insight: Harkless has struggled mightily in his last six appearances, contributing just 1.7 ppg over that span. If the rookie is forced to the bench, we'd likely see J.J. Redick (13.8 ppg, 5 apg) move into the starting lineup as a second shooting guard.
J.J. Redick, G12/10/2012 11:18:00 AM
Description: Magic guard J.J. Redick has picked up his production again after slumping for two games In his last four, Redick is averaging 15.2 points and 5.8 assists per game. He scored 20 points with nine assists and four 3-pointers Sunday against the Suns.
Insight: Redick is having his strongest season as a pro, averaging 13.8 points and 5.1 assists per game, both career highs. Curiously, however, he's only shooting 33.7 percent from 3-point range on a career-high 4.7 attempts per game.
J.J. Redick, GCold11/30/2012 9:51:00 PM
Description: Magic guard J.J. Redick only has nine points total in his last two games after scoring 39 in his previous two.
Insight: Redick has only attempted 13 shots in his last two games, making three, including an 0-for-4 effort Friday against the Nets. We'll have to monitor Redick's usage in his next few games.
Glen Davis, F11/30/2012 9:48:00 PM
Description: Magic PF/C Glen Davis has scored 10 or more points in 10 straight games after Friday's 16-point effort against the Nets.
Insight: Davis hasn't scored 20-plus points since starting the season with two straight such performances, but he's been a solid fantasy big man.
Jameer Nelson, G11/30/2012 6:32:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson won't play Friday due to a sore left Achilles' tendon. SOURCE: OrlandoMagic.com
Insight: Just another ailment for the oft-injured point guard. E`Twaun Moore (10.9 ppg) will get a spot start.
J.J. Redick, G11/19/2012 7:29:00 PM
Description: Orlando guards J.J. Redick and Jameer Nelson will both start through illnesses Monday.
Insight: Redick is averaging 15.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 5.5 apg and 1.6 three-pointers per game and Nelson has dished on 19 assists in two games since returning from multiple injuries. Keep E'Twaun Moore on your bench Monday.
J.J. Redick, G11/19/2012 2:00:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard J.J. Redick, who missed Sunday's game against Toronto because of illness, will be a game-time decision for Monday, according to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel.
Insight: Redick is averaging 15.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 5.5 apg and 1.6 three-pointers per game. E'Twaun Moore will play a larger role if Redick is forced to miss another game. Moore played 28 minutes on Sunday with Redick out of the lineup.
J.J. Redick, G11/18/2012 2:39:00 PM
Description: Orlando guard J.J. Redick missed Sunday's game against Toronto because of an illness.
Insight: Rookie DeQuan Jones received the start at shooting guard in Redick's place. Redick (15.8 ppg) is questionable for Monday night's game in Atlanta.
Jameer Nelson, G11/16/2012 11:11:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (groin) returned to the lineup Friday against the Pistons and scored 13 points with 10 assists.
Insight: Nelson missed six games with a variety of ailments. He's a lower tier fantasy point guard but he can be safely re-inserted in the lineup if you own him.
Hedo Turkoglu, F11/14/2012 7:07:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Hedo Turkoglu has encountered a setback in his recovery from a broken left hand. He's out indefinitely.
Insight: A report from John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com suggests the setback could add another month to Turkoglu's recovery time. With Turkoglu out, the Magic have been using Arron Afflalo at the three with J.J. Redick and E'Twuan Moore starting at the two guard positions.
Moe Harkless, F11/13/2012 10:05:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Maurice Harkless had by far his best performance of the season Tuesday against the Knicks. He gave Orlando 10 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
Insight: Harkless missed all of training camp while recovering from an offseason hernia operation and sat out the first three games of the season. The Magic have been searching for a starting small forward with Hedo Turkoglu out so the 19-year-old Harkless' role may continue to grow.
Glen Davis, F11/13/2012 10:00:00 PM
Description: Magic PF/C Glen Davis made all of his shots Tuesday against the Knicks. Unfortunately, he only took five and failed to get to the foul line in 31 minutes.
Insight: Davis took a back seat to Orlando's perimeter players. The emergence of center Nikola Vucevic as an instant double-double threat has to worry Davis owners as well.
J.J. Redick, G11/13/2012 9:55:00 PM
Description: Magic guard J.J. Redick led Orlando in scoring Tuesday against the Knicks with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He added seven assists, four rebounds and a steal.
Insight: Redick started off the season with two 20-point efforts and while he's been effective since he hasn't quite returned to that level. That makes Tuesday's performance, his second straight start, important for fantasy owners. Redick is also averaging 5.6 assists per game. He's more valuable now than he's ever been.
Jameer Nelson, G11/13/2012 7:13:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (groin) will not play Tuesday against the Knicks.
Insight: Nelson is no longer dealing with a hamstring issue but still has a sore groin. E`Twaun Moore started again Tuesday.
Jameer Nelson, G11/12/2012 2:10:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (groin) went through practice Monday and did some one-on-one work with coach Jacque Vaughn. He's no longer dealing with a hamstring issue, but still has a sore groin. SOURCE: John Denton, OrlandoMagic.com
Insight: Nelson said he doesn't know if he'll play Tuesday against the Knicks. Said Nelson: "I'll see how I react to this and feel (Tuesday). I'll let my body tell me what to do. I'll relay that message to the staff." E`Twaun Moore (13.5 ppg) will likely move back to the bench when Nelson returns.
Glen Davis, F11/11/2012 5:59:00 PM
Description: Magic PF/C Glen Davis rebounded from two poor games with 19 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks Sunday against the Nets.
Insight: Davis scored 12 points and had nine rebounds combined the last two games after a strong start to the season. Hopefully those efforts will be the outlier.
E'Twaun Moore, GHot11/9/2012 1:51:00 PM
Description: Magic guard E'Twaun Moore has scored in double figures in all four games this season as a replacement for injured point guard Jameer Nelson.
Insight: Moore has also provided solid production with 13.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.8 apg and 1.0 spg. He's certainly a very good short-term answer and could end up being more than that.
Jameer Nelson, G11/9/2012 1:48:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (groin, knee, hamstring) is expected to miss Friday's game against Brooklyn. It will be his fourth straight game out of the lineup.
Insight: E'Twaun Moore (13.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.8 apg) has moved into the starting role and is proving to be a valuable asset with solid short term fantasy value.
Jameer Nelson, G11/7/2012 10:43:00 AM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (groin, knee, hamstring) is expected to miss Wednesday's game against Minnesota.
Insight: Nelson averaged 11.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 5.7 apg in 57 games last season. If Nelson can't play, E'Twaun Moore (15 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.7 apg) will make his third consecutive start. Moore is proving he can play and has fantasy value for the short term.
E'Twaun Moore, GHot11/6/2012 10:38:00 PM
Description: Magic guard E'Twaun Moore has scored in double figures in all three games this season, including 17 on 7-of-13 shooting Tuesday against the Bulls.
Insight: Moore is starting in place of the injured Jameer Nelson. In addition to his scoring, Moore has also provided solid production in rebounding (4.3), assists (3.7), steals (1.0) and 3-pointers (7-of-10). He's someone to watch to see what his role will be when Nelson returns.
Nikola Vucevic, C11/6/2012 10:30:00 PM
Description: Magic center Nikola Vucevic turned in his second straight double-double Tuesday with 16 points and 10 boards. He also blocked two shots and had a steal.
Insight: Vucevic has averaged 39.5 minutes over the last two games. He has no competition for the team's starting center spot and should be a popular free agent target this week.
Jameer Nelson, G11/6/2012 12:36:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (groin, knee, hamstring) will not play in Tuesday's game against Chicago, according to beat writer John Denton.
Insight: Nelson averaged 11.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 5.7 apg in 57 games last season.
E'Twaun Moore, G11/6/2012 12:36:00 PM
Description: E'Twaun Moore should get the start in Jameer Nelson's absence (groin, knee, hamstring).
Insight: Moore posted 15 points, three rebound and six assists in his first start of the season against Phoenix. It looks like he could be a player.
Jameer Nelson, G11/5/2012 5:30:00 PM
Description: Magic point guard Jameer Nelson (groin, knee) is uncertain for Tuesday's game after meeting with a doctor Monday. SOURCE: Brian K. Schmitz, Orlando Sentinel
Insight: Nelson scored just nine points with seven assists on 2-of-9 shooting in 35 minutes in his one game this season.
Glen Davis, FHot11/5/2012 10:37:00 AM
Description: Magic PF/C Glen Davis backed his excellent opening day performance with another solid game, going for 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists against Phoenix in a 115-94 victory.
Insight: Davis is averaging 25.5 ppg and 9.0 rpg after a couple of games and though we're not sure he can continue to score at this pace, he'll be the Magic's No. 1 inside option.
J.J. Redick, G11/2/2012 9:33:00 PM
Description: Magic guard J.J. Redick came off the bench and went 7-of-11 with three 3-pointers for 21 points in Friday's season opener against the Nuggets.
Insight: Reddick also had six assists and four rebounds. The guard will come off the bench behind Aaron Afflalo (7 points, 3-13 FG) for the time being but Orlando will count on his scoring with few proven options on the perimeter. We should see Redick's ppg average increase for the fifth straight season.
Glen Davis, FHot11/2/2012 9:31:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Glen Davis is the clear-cut No. 1 offensive option in the post-Dwight Howard era. Davis was the only Orlando starter to score in double figures Friday against the Nuggets.
Insight: Davis scored 29 points with 10 rebounds and two blocks on 13-of-25 shooting. The forward stepped up at the end of last season and had a strong preseason. If he's available in your league be sure to scoop him up.
Hedo Turkoglu, F11/2/2012 9:24:00 PM
Description: Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu broke his left hand Friday, according to John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com.
Insight: Turkoglu played 17 minutes and scored six points on 3-of-4 shooting but he will be out for an extended period of time. The Magic didn't immediately announce a timetable.
Moe Harkless, F11/1/2012 3:32:00 PM
Description: Injured Orlando forward Moe Harkless could be back in the lineup Friday against Denver.
Insight: Harkless missed all of training camp while recovering from an offseason hernia operation. The 19-year-old is slated to come off the bench behind veteran Hedo Turkoglu.
Quentin Richardson, F10/27/2012 4:45:00 PM
Description: Small forward Quentin Richardson has been released by the Magic.
Insight: Richardson hasn't had a productive season since 2009 and he struggled with hamstring issues during training camp. Richardson could find a new team but even if he does, he won't be of value to fantasy owners.
Hedo Turkoglu, F10/22/2012 12:12:00 PM
Description: Orlando forward Hedo Turkoglu has been sitting out with back spasms the past few days.
Insight: Turkoglu will be asked to play a bigger role on offense this season now that Dwight Howard has moved on to Los Angeles. The increased shot volume could potentially lift Turkoglu's PPG but that could also be offset by the fact that he'll be double-teamed more than he was when Dwight was on the team. Realistically, Turkoglu is on the wrong end of 33 years old and probably won't be a particularly useful fantasy player during the 2012-13 campaign.
Glen Davis, FHot10/16/2012 11:55:00 AM
Description: Glen "Big Baby" Davis may have been a bit player in Boston, but it appears he'll be a go-to guy in Orlando with high fantasy value.
Insight: Davis is averaging 18.7 ppg and 8.3 rpg in three preseason games and will be the Magic's primary inside threat. He should be a solid fantasy selection after all the big names are gone.
Gustavo Ayon, C10/6/2012 12:45:00 PM
Description: Josh Robbins from the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that center Gustavo Ayon will play for the Magic in 2012-13.
Insight: This puts to rest the rumors that Ayon might play overseas this season. For now Ayon is penciled in as the team's starter at center, though his contributions on the fantasy level should be pretty limited.
Dwight Howard, C8/9/2012 8:23:00 PM
Description: After a few weeks of inactivity, Dwight Howard trade talks have heated up again. The latest trade scenario has Howard and forward All Harrington headed to the Lakers with the Magic acquiring Pau Gasol and Arron Afflalo. Denver would receive Andre Iguodala as part of the deal with Andrew Bynum going to the 76ers. ESPN's Chris Broussard says the deal is imminent.
Insight: This would be the blockbuster to end all blockbusters and at first glance, it should benefit all four teams involved. Broussard reports that Orlando would also get draft picks and salary cap relief as part of the trade. If this trade come to fruition, the trio of Kobe Bryant, Howard and Steve Nash should challenge Oklahoma City's big three of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook for Western Conference supremacy next season.
Dwight Howard, C7/26/2012 12:48:00 PM
Description: Magic center Dwight Howard met with team officials Wednesday as they attempted to change his mind on a long-term committment. However, Howard reiterated that he won't sign an extension and wants a trade.
Insight: Howard (20.6 ppg, 14.5 rpg, 2.1 bpg) will put up numbers regardless of where he lands, even if he's forced to stay with the Magic for another season. We just hope this situation is resolved soon so both parties can move on.
Dwight Howard, C7/19/2012 11:08:00 AM
Description: Magic center Dwight Howard said earlier this summer that he'd only sign a long-term contract with the Nets but it appears that he's changed his mind. Now the six-time NBA All-Star says that he'd be excited to join the Lakers and would be willing to commit long-term to the team if they are able to trade for him.
Insight: Howard (20.6 ppg, 14.5 rpg, 2.1 bpg) changing his mind about something, what else is new? Still, this looks like major progress in Howard's "Indecision 2012." Sensing that Brooklyn is no longer an option, it appears Howard is willing to give Los Angeles a try. The signing of free agent point guard Steve Nash (12.5 ppg, 10.7 rpg) this offseason no doubt made L.A. a more attractive destination for the 6-foot-11 center. In order to facilitate a deal, a third team (possibly the Cleveland Cavaliers) may need to get involved.
Dwight Howard, C7/9/2012 7:46:00 PM
Description: The latest trade scenario being discussed has Orlando center Dwight Howard going to the Nets as part of a four-team deal that would also involve the Cavaliers.
Insight: Brooklyn, Cleveland and Orlando are still trying to figure out who that fourth team might be. The deal would also include Sundiata Gaines, Kris Humphries, Damion James, Brook Lopez, Jason and Quentin Richardson, Luke Walton and Shelden Williams.
Gustavo Ayon, C7/8/2012 10:18:00 PM
Description: Forward Gustavo Ayon appears to be headed to the Orlando Magic as part of a sign and trade deal that will send forward Ryan Anderson to the Hornets.
Insight: Ayon (5.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg) had his moments for New Orleans last season but it's still unclear what his role will be in Orlando, especially if the Magic end up gaining five or six new players as the result of a Dwight Howard trade later this offseason.
Jameer Nelson, G7/5/2012 2:48:00 PM
Description: Point guard Jameer Nelson has re-signed with the Orlando Magic, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Insight: Nelson averaged 11.9 points on a career-low 42.7 FG percentage last season. It's difficult to imagine his fantasy value changing much next season, especially with Dwight Howard potentially leaving town via trade.
Dwight Howard, C7/1/2012 3:05:00 PM
Description: Orlando center Dwight Howard has asked to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
Insight: Howard made the trade request during a meeting with new GM Rob Hennigan on Friday and has even suggested that he might take legal action against the Magic if they don't deal him or allow him to opt out of his contract. If Deron Williams and Howard team up in Brooklyn next season it could be Lob City version 2.0.
Dwight Howard, C6/25/2012 9:49:00 PM
Description: The Rockets are trying to move up in the draft so they can make a trade for Orlando center Dwight Howard.
Insight: Houston wants to acquire two top-ten picks and ship those to the Magic in exchange for the All-Star center. Point guard Kyle Lowry (14.3 ppg, 6.6 apg) could be traded in order to accomplish this.
