Marcus Stroman, RPHot7/24/2014 3:40:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman shut down the Rangers Saturday and did the same to the Boston Red Sox Thursday.
Insight: Stroman went seven strong innings giving up just one hit and zero runs. In 10 starts since he joined the rotation, Stroman has given up two runs or less eight times.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B7/23/2014 10:24:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion (right quad injury) could be back from the DL next week, according to Ken Rosenthal of foxsports.com.
Insight: Encarnacion (.277, 26 HR, 70 RBI) has been on the shelf since July 6 due to a quad injury. The sooner he returns, the better for fantasy owners.
Jose Bautista, RF7/23/2014 9:57:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista homered for the first time since July 2 Wednesday against the Red Sox.
Insight: Bautista has hit just four home runs since May 31 (40 games). He had 14 homers in his first 56 games this season.
Jose Reyes, SSHot7/22/2014 10:17:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, two RBI and a steal Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Description: Toronto catcher Dioner Navarro homered in his second straight game Tuesday against the Red Sox.
Insight: Navarro has seven blasts to go with 41 RBI and a .265 average this season. He's been a decent AL-only backstop.
Aaron Sanchez, RP7/22/2014 5:40:00 PM
Description: The Blue Jays have called up top pitching prospect Aaron Sanchez, but he'll pitch out of the bullpen.
Insight: Sanchez has posted a 3.95 ERA in 100 1/3 innings in the minors this season. The right-hander has walked 191 batters in 356 1/3 minor league innings, including 57 this season. He can be ignored in re-draft leagues.
Adam Lind, DH7/21/2014 4:47:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind (foot) is scheduled to take batting practice Tuesday, according to John Lott of the National Post, Toronto..
Insight: Lind initially said he would miss 6-8 weeks due to a non-displaced fracture in his right foot, but a second opinion was more optimistic and it appears the second one was closer to fact. He could be back in early August.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B7/21/2014 4:45:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion (right quad injury) is expected to take batting and fielding practice Tuesday, according to John Lott of the National Post, Toronto.
Insight: great news for fantasy owners. The original timetable was 2-4 weeks and he's right at the two week mark today. The Blue Jays slugger has 26 homers and 70 RBI.
Melky Cabrera, LF7/20/2014 5:29:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI Sunday against the Rangers.
Insight: Cabrera has hit .350 in July, but he hadn't homered since June 19 prior to Sunday. His power comes and goes, but he's a very good all-around fantasy option.
Casey Janssen, SP7/19/2014 5:43:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen wasn't available Saturday due to illness.
Insight: He believes he ate something bad over the All-Star break and has lost as much as seven pounds. Aaron Loup picked up Saturday's save.
Marcus Stroman, RPHot7/19/2014 5:32:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman shut down the Rangers Saturday, yieelding just four hits and no runs in seven innings of work.
Insight: In nine starts since he joined the rotation, Stroman has given up two runs or less seven times. As a starter his ERA is 2.87 with a 1.128 WHIP. He should be on fantasy rosters, but if he's available you should strongly consider making a claim for him.
Jose Bautista, RF7/19/2014 10:04:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is 4-for-11 with two home runs versus Texas right-hander Colby Lewis.
Insight: Bautista hasn't done much of late, with zero homers and a .167 batting average in his last eight games. This matchup might help.
Colby Rasmus, CFCold7/18/2014 10:12:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus hit his 13th home run of the season Friday against Texas.
Insight: Rasmus ended the first half mired in a 5-for-48 (.104) slump. He's batted .217 in 207 at-bats this year.
Jose Bautista, RFCold7/18/2014 11:54:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is just 1-for-15 against Texas ace Yu Darvish with seven strikeouts.
Insight: Bautista hasn't done much of late, with zero homers and a .200 batting average in his last eight games. This matchup isn't likely to help.
Jose Bautista, RFCold7/13/2014 12:36:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista has batted .341 with two doubles and five homers in 41 career at-bats against David Price.
Insight: Bautista has gone 7-for-35 (.200) with zero home runs and nine Ks over his last nine games and doesn't have much lineup protection right now with Edwin Encarnacion, Adam Lind and Brett Lawrie all on the DL. Fantasy owners might want to pass on this matchup despite Bautista's strong numbers against Price.
R.A. Dickey, SP7/13/2014 12:32:00 PM
Description: Toronto starter R.A. Dickey has baffled most of Tampa Bay's lineup in his career.
Insight: Dickey is a worthwhile fantasy option Sunday. Fantasy owners should avoid Evan Longoria (5-for-22 against Dickey), Ben Zobrist (5-24), Matt Joyce (5-27), James Loney (5-26) and Desmond Jennings (2-18) against the knuckleballer.
Nolan Reimold, LF7/11/2014 9:46:00 PM
Description: Baltimore outfielder Nolan Reimold left Friday's game with a left calf strain, according to Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star.
Insight: Reimold can't catch a break. After playing just 56 games over the past two seasons with the Orioles due to neck problems, he found a spot with the Blue Jays earlier this month and was looking at regular at-bats due to Edwin Encarnacion's and Adam Lind's injuries.
Adam Lind, DH7/11/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind (foot) is now expected to be back playing games in 2-3 weeks, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of sportsnet.ca.
Insight: Lind initially said he would miss 6-8 weeks due to a non-displaced fracture in his right foot, but the Blue Jays' official timetable is much more optimistic.
Dan Johnson, 1B7/11/2014 3:58:00 PM
Description: Just called up first baseman Dan Johnson is in the Blue Jays starting lineup Friday night.
Insight: Johnson will be the DH with Jose Bautista playing at first base. He was batting .248 with 17 homers at Triple-A Buffalo before getting the call.
Jose Bautista, RFCold7/11/2014 10:06:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista has just one single in 12 plate appearances against Rays right-hander Chris Archer.
Insight: Bautista is just 7-for-36 (.194) over his last 10 games and is without his protection in the lineup (Edwin Encarnacion) which won't help him see any good pitches. We suggest avoiding this matchup.
Adam Lind, DH7/9/2014 8:14:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind will miss the next 6-8 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his right foot, according to Gregor Chisholm of mlb.com.
Insight: Lind missed some time with a bone bruise in his right foot in June, and further testing revealed the fracture. The Blue Jays recently lost Edwin Encarnacion to a strained quad, so the middle of their order is getting thin.
Jose Bautista, RFCold7/9/2014 12:43:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista has rocked Angels starter C.J. Wilson in the past.
Insight: Bautista is 8-for-18 (.444) with a double and a homer against Wilson, who will start against the Blue Jays Wednesday. Bautista has gone 7-for-41 (.171) since June 19, but he's a must-start against Wilson.
Jose Reyes, SS7/9/2014 12:33:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes has been playing through a right shoulder injury, according to sportsnet.ca.
Insight: Reyes has hit .344 with four doubles, a triple, two homers and 10 runs in his last 14 games, so the injury isn't affecting him at the plate. However, it has caused his throwing errors to spike. He's made 12 errors already this season, eight throwing. He's never made more than nine throwing errors in a season. While the shoulder soreness bothers him occasionally on swings, he insists it won't keep him out of the lineup.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B7/7/2014 1:19:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion (right quad injury) will keep him on the sidelines for 2-4 weeks, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports 1.
Insight: The timetable could change slightly after further diagnosis, but a stint on the disabled list is in his future. The Blue Jays slugger has 26 homers and 70 RBI.
Adam Lind, DH7/7/2014 11:34:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind is a career .346 hitter (9-for-26) with a pair of homers and six RBI versus Angels right-hander Jered Weaver.
Insight: With Edwin Encarnacion big bat sidelined, Lind should be out there everyday and needs to produce. This favorable matchup should help. He's batting .328 with four homers, 27 RBI and an .897 OPS.
Jose Bautista, RF7/7/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is just 1-for-12 (.073) against Angels starter Jered Weaver.
Insight: Bautista leads the league in on-base percentage (.419). He's also batting .296 with 17 homers, 51 RBI, 56 runs and a .941 OPS this season. With all that he should be avoided in this unfavorable matchup.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B7/6/2014 2:36:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion left Saturday night's game in the top of the first inning with an apparent right quad injury and has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against Oakland.
Insight: Encarnacion needed help walking off the field so this didsn't look good. A stint on the disabled list could be in his future. The Blue Jays slugger has 26 homers and 70 RBI.
Jose Reyes, SS7/6/2014 11:36:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes likely isn't a fan of the trade that brought Jeff Samardzija to Oakland as he's 1-for-9 lifetime against the right-hander.
Insight: Reyes, who's hitting .298 over his last 10 games with a homer and three doubles, is only a .111 lifetime hitter against Oakland's new ace. Given that the game's being played in Oakland, it might be smart to go with another option at shortstop if you've got it.
Steve Tolleson, 3B7/6/2014 10:23:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays infielder Steve Tolleson is questionable for Sunday's game against Oakland due to a sprained ankle.
Insight: Tolleson hasn't shown fantasy owners any reason to pay attention to the middle infielder, batting .237 with two homers, seven RBI and a .726 OPS.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B7/6/2014 10:20:00 AM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion left Saturday night's game in the top of the first inning with an apparent right quad injury and is doubtful for Sunday's game against Oakland.

Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion left Saturday night's game in the top of the first inning with an apparent right quad injury.

Marcus Stroman, RPHot7/4/2014 9:02:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman took a no decision despite holding the Athletics to three hits and zero runs in seven innings Friday.
Insight: In seven starts since he joined the rotation, Stroman has gone 3-2 with a 2.08 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP and a 39/11 K/BB in 43 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old 2012 first-round pick should be owned in all leagues.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot7/4/2014 10:25:00 AM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion played in the outfield for the second time Thursday and could soon become eligible at the position.
Insight: The Blue Jays are playing it safe with Jose Bautista *hamstring), making him the DH with Adam Lind moving over to first base and pushing Encarnacion into the outfield. Encarnacion is having a great season at any position with a league-leading 26 home runs, 69 RBI and 194 total bases.
Colby Rasmus, CFCold7/4/2014 10:24:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus was out of Thursday's lineup sue to a right wrist injury suffered in Wednesday's game and is questionable for Friday's game against Oakland

Melky Cabrera, LF6/29/2014 11:20:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera is not in Sunday's starting lineup against left-hander Jose Quintana.
Insight: Cabrera has batted .300 with 11 homers and 42 RBI this season, but is just a .261 hitter against southpaws in 2014 so he'll sit for Darin Mastroianni.

Description: Toronto catcher Dioner Navarro is a career .412 hitter (7-for-17) with a pair of home runs against White Sox starter John Danks.
Insight: Navarro put up nice numbers last season with the Cubs (.300, 13 HR, .856 OPS in 240 ABs), but hasn't been able to do the same in Toronto in 2014. His average is down 25 points and his OPS has dropped 172 points. However, he might be worth a flier tonight if the price is right.
J.A. Happ, SP6/26/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Toronto starter J.A. Happ battened down the hatches Thursday against the White Sox.
Insight: He kept Chicago scoreless for 7 2/3 innings, allowing just four hits and two walks over that span. Happ (7-4, 4.29 ERA) also recorded a season-high eight strikeouts. His next outing is scheduled for Wednesday against Milwaukee.

Insight: Reyes (.257, 6 HR, 21 RBI) was a triple away from the cycle. He also added his 16th stolen base of the year. The 31-year-old hasn't had a great year but he can still have a big night every now and then.

Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus has a .508 slugging percentage against right-handers this season, but he's struggled against Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda.

Insight: Francisco's hot May (.284, 7 HR, 20 RBI) is a memory as he's struggled mightily in June, batting just .156 with a .586 OPS. Don't be surprised if he sees more time on the bench.

Dioner Navarro, C6/15/2014 5:23:00 PM
Description: Jays catcher Dioner Navarro went 3-for-4 with two RBI Sunday against Baltimore.
Insight: He had been hitless in his previous eight at bats prior to Sunday. Navarro hits for very little power (three homers this season) and is only owned in about three percent of ESPN fantasy leagues.

Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion belted three hits including a pair of doubles Sunday in a 5-2 win over Baltimore.

Drew Hutchison, SP6/13/2014 10:34:00 PM
Description: Toronto right-hander Drew Hutchison was excellent Friday in a win over Baltimore.
Insight: He didn't allow a run in seven innings. Hutchison (5-4, 3.62 ERA) has been alternating good and bad outings so don't expect him to be as sharp next time out against the Yankees.
Brett Cecil, SP6/13/2014 10:14:00 PM
Description: Toronto left-hander Brett Cecil suffered a lower body injury Friday against Baltimore. SOURCE: Eduardo Encina, Baltimore Sun
Insight: He exited in the eighth inning. Cecil (0-3, 3.51 ERA) has recorded 14 holds for the Blue Jays this season. Consider him day-to-day.

Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot6/11/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion has hit .378 with four doubles and a homer in 37 at-bats against Twins starter Phil Hughes.

Jose Bautista, RFHot6/10/2014 9:45:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is 6-for-9 (.667) with a pair of homers against Minnesota starter Kevin Correia.
Insight: Bautista is on fire, batting .309 with a league-leading .436 OPS, 15 HR and 44 RBI. Tuesday's matchup should add to those totals.
Jose Reyes, SSHot6/9/2014 10:18:00 PM
Description: Toronto shortstop Jose Reyes has hit safely in 21 of his last 22 games, including 10 in a row.
Insight: Reyes went 3-for-5 with a solo homer (No. 4) and two steals Monday against the Twins. He's raised his average from .212 to .268 over his last 22 games.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot6/9/2014 10:15:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion hit his second home run of June Monday against the Twins.
Insight: Encarnacion's monster May (16 HR, 33 RBI, 26 R) has led to opponents pitching around the slugger this month (five BB in seven games). Encarnacion is hitting .270 with 20 homers, 53 RBI, 42 runs and a .962 OPS this season.
Dioner Navarro, C6/9/2014 10:42:00 AM
Description: Toronto catcher Dioner Navarro has a rare favorable matchup against Minnesota right-hander Ricky Nolasco.
Insight: The Blue Jays backstop is 7-for-15 (.467 with a home run and a 1.267 against Nolasco. He's only batting .260 this season, but has knocked in 23 runs ... one of the benefits of being in a high-powered lineup. He could be worth a flier on Monday.
Jose Reyes, SS6/6/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Toronto shortstop Jose Reyes reached base five times Friday against St. Louis.
Insight: His night included three singles, two walks and a stolen base. Reyes (.259, 3 HR, 17 RBI) will try to extend his hitting streak to eight games Saturday against right-hander Shelby Miller.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot6/6/2014 3:44:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion, out of the lineup Thursday afternoon with back tightness, is back in Friday night's lineup.
Insight: Encarnacion put together a monster May, slamming 16 home run and knocking in 33, over a span of 30 games. Make sure he's back in your lineup.
Brett Lawrie, 3B6/5/2014 8:35:00 PM
Description: Toronto third baseman Brett Lawrie hit his 10th homer of the season Thursday at Detroit.
Insight: Lawrie, Juan Francisco and Melky Cabrera all reached 10 home runs in Thursday's game, joining Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista as Blue Jays with double-digit homers this season. Toronto leads the majors in home runs.
Juan Francisco, 3BHot6/5/2014 8:31:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays third baseman Juan Francisco went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI Thursday at Detroit.
Insight: Francisco has hit 10 jacks in just 123 at-bats and is slugging .593. The 26-year-old has always had plenty of power, but he hasn't been able to stay in the lineup because he strikes out so often and is terrible defensively. He's found a home as Toronto's starting third baseman against righties.
Colby Rasmus, CF6/5/2014 6:30:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus (hamstring) is nearing a rehab assignment, according to Shi Davidi of sportsnet.ca.
Insight: He could begin playing in minor league games early next week, manager John Gibbons said. Rasmus has been on the disabled list since May 13. He'll return to a .222 average, nine homers, 19 RBI, 19 runs and a .755 OPS.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B6/5/2014 12:32:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion is out of the lineup Thursday afternoon after leaving Wednesday's game with back tightness.
Insight: The injury doesn't sound too serious for the Blue Jays' slugger, and missing Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander might not be the worst thing in the world, anyway. Adam Lind will start at first in Encarnacion's place while Dioner Navarro is the DH and Erik Kratz is catching.
Adam Lind, DHHot6/4/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Toronto DH Adam Lind had a pair of doubles and three RBI Wednesday against the Tigers.
Insight: Lind only has 106 at-bats this season because he spent three weeks on the DL and doesn't play against left-handers, but he's batting .349 with 12 doubles, a triple, three homers, 18 RBI, 24 runs and a .986 OPS.
Jose Bautista, RFHot6/4/2014 10:29:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista raised his average to .318 with three hits Wednesday at Detroit.
Insight: Bautista has hit safely in 10 straight games. The power is still there -- Bautista has 14 homers and 41 RBI -- but he's also hitting for average for the first time since 2011.
Melky Cabrera, LF6/4/2014 10:27:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera came into Wednesday's game with huge numbers against Tigers starter Rick Porcello and went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, two RBI and three runs in Toronto's 8-2 win.
Insight: Cabrera is hitting .309 with nine homers, 32 RBI, 40 runs, four steals and an .841 OPS this season.
Melky Cabrera, LF6/4/2014 11:34:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera is a career .471 hitter (8-for-17) against Detroit right-hander Rick Porcello.
Insight: Two of Cabrera's hits against Porcello were doubles and he's only struck out once against him in 17 tries. With Cabrera (8 HR, 30 RBI, .817 OPS), Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion all possessing lifetime batting averages greater than .400 against Porcello, it could be a big night for the first-place Blue Jays' offense.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1B6/4/2014 11:29:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion has historically hit Tigers starter Rick Porcello well throughout his career.
Insight: Encarnacion, who has six homers in his last nine games, is likely licking his lips at the chance to face Porcello on Wednesday. In 12 career at bats against the righty, Encarnacion (19 HR, 50 RBI, .977 OPS) has five hits (four doubles) and three RBI.
Jose Bautista, RF6/4/2014 11:24:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista has faired well in his career against Tigers right-handed starter Rick Porcello.
Insight: While Joey Bats -- a prodigious slugger -- hasn't homered against Porcello, he does have six hits in 13 at bats and is working on a nine-game hitting streak. Bautista has been remarkably steady all season, ranking in the top eight in the AL in average, OPS, OBP, home runs, RBI, runs and walks.
Brett Lawrie, 3B6/3/2014 10:08:00 PM
Description: Toronto third baseman Brett Lawrie hit a three-run homer off Al Alburquerque in the ninth inning Tuesday against the Tigers.
Insight: Lawrie (9 HR, 34 RBI) is still hitting just .239 this season, but he's on pace for 25 home runs and 93 RBI.
Drew Hutchison, SP6/3/2014 9:56:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison gave up three hits and struck out seven without walking a batter in seven innings Tuesday at Detroit.
Insight: Hutchison took a no decision because Anibal Sanchez was equally as good on the other side. The right-hander now has a 3.50 ERA and 66 Ks in 72 innings this season.
Melky Cabrera, LFHot6/3/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera is a career .556 hitter (10-for-19) against Detroit right-hander Anibal Sanchez.
Insight: Though all 10 hits against Sanchez were singles, we like to think if he's on base a lot the Blue Jays big boppers will knock him in. Cabrera has hit .308 this season with eight homers, 30 RBI and 37 runs.
Mark Buehrle, SP6/1/2014 8:10:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle improved to 10-1 Sunday with a win over Kansas City.
Insight: Buehrle cannot be stopped. The veteran lefty hasn't lost since April 25th and his 2.10 ERA is third-best in the American League. It would be a shock if he isn't invited to his fifth All-Star Game in Minnesota next month.
Marcus Stroman, RP6/1/2014 3:48:00 PM
Description: It appears that Blue Jays pitching prospect Marcus Stroman will remain in the rotation. The team optioned Liam Hendriks to the minors Sunday. SOURCE: Brendan Kennedy, Toronto Star.
Insight: Manager John Gibbons said the Jays want Hendriks to continue starting in the minors rather than having him pitch out of the bullpen in the majors. Stroman allowed one run on five hits and struck out six in six innings in his first career start Saturday night and should be added in all leagues.
Marcus Stroman, RP6/1/2014 12:44:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays pitching prospect Marcus Stroman won his first career start Saturday against the Royals.
Insight: He allowed one run on five hits and struck out six in six innings. The right-hander didn't do well earlier this season as a reliever, but he has a lot of promise and could remain in the rotation in place of Liam Hendriks or J.A. Happ.
Melky Cabrera, LFHot6/1/2014 10:09:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera has battered Kansas City starter Jeremy Guthrie in their previous meetings.
Insight: Cabrera has hit .351 with five doubles, a triple and a home run in 37 at-bats against Guthrie. It's safe to say fantasy owners shouldn't use Guthrie on Sunday, as the right-hander has been crushed by most of the players in Toronto's lineup.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot6/1/2014 10:06:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion hit .281 with 16 home runs, 33 RBI, 26 runs and 16 Ks in May and he has a great matchup to kick off June.
Insight: Encarnacion has hit .375 (12-for-32) with four doubles and two homers against Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie.
Adam Lind, DHHot6/1/2014 10:06:00 AM
Description: Toronto DH Adam Lind owns a .364 average in 44 career at-bats against Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie.
Insight: Five of his 16 hits went for extra bases and one was a homer. Lind is hitting .351 with three homers this season and has hit .403 against righties.
Juan Francisco, 3BHot6/1/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays third baseman Juan Francisco has only faced Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie six times, but he picked up three hits, all of which left the park.
Insight: Francisco is the latest player to go from replacement level to elite power hitter after putting on a Blue Jays uniform, following in the footsteps of Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion. In 109 at-bats, he's hit .275 with nine homers, 24 RBI, 22 runs and a .961 OPS.
Juan Francisco, 3B5/31/2014 7:04:00 PM
Description: Jays third baseman Juan Francisco drove in four runs Saturday in a win over Kansas City.
Insight: Two of his three hits went for extra bases. Francisco (.275, 9 HR, 24 RBI) is on pace for 26 homers this season, which would be eight more than the career-high he set last year while playing for the Braves and Brewers.
Adam Lind, DH5/31/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Toronto DH Adam Lind provided three hits in Saturday's blowout win over Kansas City.
Insight: He scored four runs and plated two more on a first inning single. Lind's .351 average would be second in the major leagues if he had enough at bats to qualify.
Jose Bautista, RFHot5/30/2014 10:16:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista ripped his 14th home run of the season Friday against the Royals.
Insight: Edwin Encarnacion is getting all the press right now because he's having the best May since Barry Bonds in 2001, but teammate Bautista is having the better all-around year. He's homered in back-to-back games and is hitting .305 with 39 RBI, 41 runs, 46 walks and a .993 OPS.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/29/2014 10:49:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion clubbed two more home runs Thursday in a loss to Kansas City.
Insight: No player has had a May this spectacular since Barry Bonds in 2001 (.369, 17 HR, 30 RBI). With 16 HR and 33 RBI this month, Encarnacion (.268, 18 HR, 48 RBI) has jumped to the top of the American League MVP race. He's only walked in 9.7 percent of his plate appearances this season but that's sure to increase as teams start to realize how unstoppable Encarnacion is.
Jose Bautista, RFHot5/29/2014 10:51:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is a career .321 hitter with four home runs and a 1.210 OPS against Royals veteran right-hander James Shields.
Insight: Bautista leads the league is walks and on-base percentage along with 12 HR, 36 RBI and a .962 OPS. With Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind hitting well behind him pitchers can't afford to pitch around him anymore.
Casey Janssen, SPHot5/28/2014 4:50:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen isn't available Wednesday due to "general soreness," according to Shi Davidi of sportsnet.ca.
Insight: He was activated from the disabled list on May 11 after missing most of spring traing and the first six weeks of the season. The Blue Jays think this is routine soreness.
Mark Buehrle, SPHot5/28/2014 11:13:00 AM
Description: Toronto left-hander Mark Buehrle recorded his MLB-leading ninth win Tuesday against the Rays.
Insight: He gave up eight hits and four runs (three earned) in 6 2/3 innings and has a 2.33 ERA this season. The left-hander has increased his two-seam fastball usage and allowed just two homers in 73 1/3 innings. Buehrle has never won 20 games, but he's nearly halfway there and it isn't even June yet.
Juan Francisco, 3B5/27/2014 10:10:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays third baseman Juan Francisco has nine home runs in 98 at-bats this season.
Insight: He homered Tuesday against the Rays and has a .981 OPS this season. Like teammate Adam Lind, he only plays against righties because he's terrible against southpaws.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/27/2014 10:07:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion homered for the third straight game Tuesday against the Rays.
Insight: This is getting more insane by the day. Encarnacion has hit 14 home runs in May, with 10 coming in the past 12 games.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/26/2014 10:29:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion crushed his 15th homer of the season and finished 3-for-5 Monday against Tampa Bay.

Melky Cabrera, LFHot5/26/2014 10:27:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI Monday against the Rays.
Insight: Cabrera is second in the majors to Astros second baseman Jose Altuve with 69 hits. He's batting .322 with eight home runs, 28 RBI, 34 runs, an .880 OPS and four steals in 214 at-bats, a dramatic improvement from 2013.
Casey Janssen, SPHot5/25/2014 7:52:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen already has seven saves.
Insight: He was just activated from the disabled list on May 11 after missing the first six weeks of the season. The Jays have gone 11-2 in their last 13 games and handed Janssen a boatload of save chances in that span. He's converted all of them and hasn't allowed a run.
J.A. Happ, SP5/25/2014 7:48:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ tossed seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts Sunday against the Athletics.
Insight: Happ has gone 4-1 with a 3.20 ERA in five starts since he rejoined the rotation, but a 1.58 WHIP and a 1.52 HR/9 make him risky.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/25/2014 7:41:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion went yard for the 12th time this month Sunday against the Athletics.
Insight: Encarnacion hit just two home runs in April, but he's exploded in May. In his last seven games, he's hit six homers and struck out just two times.
R.A. Dickey, SP5/24/2014 8:25:00 PM
Description: Toronto starter R.A. Dickey was excellent Saturday in a win over Oakland.
Insight: He almost went the full nine, allowing five hits, two runs and one walk over 8 1/3 innings. After starting the year 1-3, Dickey has now won four of his last six starts. During that span, he's lowered his ERA from 6.26 to where it currently stands at 3.95.
Adam Lind, DH5/23/2014 3:33:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind will sit a second night in a row.
Insight: Lind missed the last three weeks with lower back tightness, but has come back well, batting .316 in the 11 games since his return. Unfortunately, they have faced two tough left-handers back-to-back (Jon Lester, Scott Kazmir), but Lind should be back in the lineup on Saturday versus right-hander Jesse Chavez.
Melky Cabrera, LFHot5/23/2014 10:02:00 AM
Description: Hot hitting Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera is a career .409 hitter (9-for-22) against Oakland left-hander Melky Cabrera.
Insight: Cabrera leads the league in hits (64) and total bases (104). He's batting .320 with eight homers, 23 RBI and 33 runs scored. Start him in this favorable matchup.
R.A. Dickey, SP5/22/2014 9:52:00 PM
Description: Jays right-hander R.A. Dickey is having his start pushed back to Saturday. SOURCE: John Lott, National Post
Insight: Dickey (4-4, 4.20 ERA) was scheduled to pitch Friday but now he'll get an extra day of rest. Former Minnesota Twin Liam Hendriks will draw the start Friday versus Oakland.
Adam Lind, DH5/22/2014 2:28:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind is not in Thursday's starting lineup.
Insight: Lind missed the last three weeks with lower back tightness, but has come back well, batting .316 in the 11 games since his return.
Jose Reyes, SS5/22/2014 10:09:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes is an ugly 1-for-19 against Boston left-hander Jon Lester.
Insight: We're still waiting for the .290 career hitter to show up. The 2014 version is batting .230 with his lowest OPS since 2005. The numbers say he won't turn it around on Thursday.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/21/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion hit two more home runs Wednesday at Boston.
Insight: Even his 1-for-21 history against Boston starter Clay Buchholz couldn't hold him back. He hit both of them off the right-hander and has blasted 11 in his last 15 games, including five in his last three.
Brett Lawrie, 3B5/21/2014 1:23:00 PM
Description: Toronto 3B Brett Lawrie hasn't had much luck against Boston starter Clay Buchholz.
Insight: He's 3-for-22 against him with no homers or RBI. Lawrie has been much better this month (.300 AVG in 50 May at bats) but this isn't a good matchup for him.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/21/2014 1:19:00 PM
Description: Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion has three home runs in his last two games. But that doesn't make him a good fantasy play Wednesday against Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz.
Insight: Encarnacion has collected only one hit in 21 previous at bats versus Buchholz. Playing Encarnacion (.249, 11 HR, 35 RBI) will be tempting given his recent hot streak but he's not a recommended fantasy option on Wednesday.
Melky Cabrera, LFHot5/20/2014 10:29:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera had four hits, including a pair of doubles and a homer, two RBI and three runs Tuesday at Boston.
Insight: Cabrera entered the game hitting .254 with one homer in May, but he got his season average up to .323 and his OPS to .877 Tuesday. He's back to being a fantasy force after a down year in 2013. Now, fantasy owners will just have to hope he's doing it clean.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/20/2014 10:26:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion has slugged nine home runs in his last 14 games.

Marcus Stroman, RP5/19/2014 3:04:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays pitching prospect Marcus Stroman has been used out of the bullpen since he was promoted to the majors and has not fared well.

Jose Bautista, RF5/18/2014 9:06:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista went 2-for-2 with a homer and two walks Saturday night at Texas.

Drew Hutchison, SP5/16/2014 10:37:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison tossed his first career shutout Friday at Texas. He allowed just three hits, struck out six and walked one, beating Yu Darvish in the process.
Insight: Hutchison's fielding-independent numbers are outstanding -- 9.11 K/9, 2.65 BB/9, 0.66 HR/9, 2.97 FIP -- and his ERA is getting there. The 23-year-old is 2-3 with a 3.64 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/16/2014 10:31:00 AM
Description: Off a two home run night, Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion gets a favorable matchup against a tough pitcher in Yu Darvish.

Jose Bautista, RF5/16/2014 10:27:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is just 1-for-12 against Texas starter Yu Darvish.
Insight: Bautista has been solid this season, batting .296 with 10 homers and 29 RBI, but this matchup should be avoided.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/15/2014 10:31:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion whacked two homers Thursday in a victory over Cleveland.
Insight: It's his second multi-homer game of the season. Encarnacion (.253, 8 HR, 30 RBI) has now left the yard six times in his last nine games. He had just two round-trippers in his first 33 contests of the year.
Colby Rasmus, CF5/15/2014 4:50:00 PM
Description: Toronto center fielder Colby Rasmus (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: He exited Monday's contest in the sixth inning after feeling some tightness in his hamstring. Rasmus has flashed some decent power this season (9 HR in 37 games), but has also struck out 47 times in 135 at bats.
Liam Hendriks, SP5/15/2014 3:14:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays minor league prospect Liam Hendriks has been pitching lights out at Buffalo and could get called up soon.
Insight: The Aussie is 5-0 with a 1.51 ERA and 0.816 WHIP in eight games (six starts) and has shown excellent control with 33 strikeouts and just two walks. He's never had much success at the major league level with a career 2-13 record, 6.06 ERA and 1.590 WHIP, but he appears to be a changed pitcher.
Dioner Navarro, C5/14/2014 4:07:00 PM
Description: Toronto catcher Dioner Navarro has left the team to deal with a personal matter.
Insight: The Blue Jays have placed him on bereavement list. Erik Kratz (.231, 2 HR, 6 RBI) will absorb Navarro's vacant roster spot.
Colby Rasmus, CF5/13/2014 6:44:00 PM
Description: Toronto center fielder Colby Rasmus is hopeful he can return to the lineup within three days. SOURCE: John Lott, National Post
Insight: The team seems to share his optimism as the Blue Jays have yet to place Rasmus on the disabled list. He exited Monday's contest in the sixth inning after feeling some tightness in his hamstring. Rasmus has flashed some decent power this season (9 HR in 37 games) but has also struck out in almost 35 percent of his at bats.
Colby Rasmus, CF5/13/2014 3:49:00 PM
Description: Toronto center fielder Colby Rasmus left Monday's game with tightness in his right hamstring and is not in Tuesday's starting lineup.
Insight: The team recalled Kevin Pillar from Triple-A to take his place in the lineup where he was batting .305. Rasmus could end up on the disabled list.
Dioner Navarro, C5/13/2014 3:45:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays catcher Dioner Navarro will get Tuesday night off against Justin Masterson and the Cleveland Indians.
Insight: Navarro has never done much against Masterson (1-for-12) so its a good day to sit him. He's batting a solid .278 with one homer, 16 RBI and 13 runs scored. He should be back in the lineup on Wednesday against Corey Kluber.
Melky Cabrera, LFHot5/13/2014 10:38:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera plays like a Hall of Famer when facing Cleveland Tuesday starter Justin Masterson.
Insight: He's a career .556 hitter (15-for-27) against the Indians right-hander. With an AL-leading .333 batting average, Cabrera should continue to dominate this matchup and is a must-start.
Colby Rasmus, CF5/12/2014 9:04:00 PM
Description: Toronto center fielder Colby Rasmus left Monday's game with tightness in his right hamstring. SOURCE: Greg Chisholm, MLB.com
Insight: He went 0-for-3 before exiting. Jose Bautista (.302, 10 HR, 28 RBI) has moved to center field with Scott Tolleson (.333, 0 HR, 2 RBI) taking over in right.
Brett Lawrie, 3B5/12/2014 11:38:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is probable for Monday's game against the LA Angels.
Insight: Lawrie left last Monday's game with a hamstring injury and hasn't played since. He's batting .229 but has six homers and 21 RBI this season. He's expected to play a lot of second base upon his return to allow Juan Francisco to start at the hot corner.
Sergio Santos, RP5/11/2014 5:46:00 PM
Description: Toronto right-hander Sergio Santos has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Santos has been dealing with soreness in his right forearm. The injury might explain Santos' sub-par start to the season (0-2, 9.00 ERA, three blown saves in 14 appearances).
Casey Janssen, SP5/11/2014 5:43:00 PM
Description: The Blue Jays have activated closer Casey Janssen from the 15-day DL.
Insight: Janssen needed a little over a month to recover from a back/oblique injury. The right-hander has converted 66-of-71 save opportunities over the last two seasons.
Steve Tolleson, 3B5/11/2014 12:26:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays infielder Steve Tolleson will get a start at second bas onSunday.
Insight: Brett Lawrie is expected to be the full-time 2B when he is healthy, but it apparently won't be today. Tolleson is 6-for-14 (.429) in limited action.
John McDonald, 2B5/10/2014 11:05:00 AM
Description: Angels infielder McDonald will make another start at third base on Saturday for injured David Freese.
Insight: McDonald is batting .313, but has earned just 16 at-bats over 13 games. He's played 2B, SS and 3B this season, but doesn't get enough work to be fantasy worthy.
Brett Lawrie, 3B5/10/2014 10:48:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Friday that third baseman Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is "not going on the DL," but he is not in Saturday's starting lineup.
Insight: Lawrie left Monday's game with a hamstring injury and hasn't played since. He's batting .229 but has six homers and 21 RBI this season.
Jose Reyes, SS 5/9/2014 10:20:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes went 3-for-4 with a double and a solo homer Friday against the Angels.
Insight: Fantasy owners have had to be patient with Reyes; he spent the first three weeks of the season on the DL with a hamstring strain and he entered Friday's game hitting .179. The shortstop does have 10 extra-base hits (7 2B, 3 HR), a good K/BB (11/8), 16 runs and four steals in 20 games.
Brett Lawrie, 3B5/9/2014 5:49:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Friday that third baseman Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is "not going on the DL." SOURCE: Shi Davidi, sportsnet.ca.
Insight: Lawrie left Monday's game with a hamstring injury. He's batting .229 but has six homers and 21 RBI this season. He's expected to play Saturday or Sunday.
Edwin Encarnacion, 1BHot5/8/2014 10:25:00 PM
Description: Toronto 1B Edwin Encarnacion belted two homers Thursday in a win over Philadelphia.
Insight: Now that's more like it. After hitting just two homers in his first 123 at bats of the season, Encarnacion has now left the yard four times in his past three games. Encarnacion's first home run of the night was the 200th of his career.
Casey Janssen, SP5/8/2014 8:09:00 PM
Description: Toronto could activate closer Casey Janssen from the disabled list on Sunday or Monday. SOURCE: John Lott, National Post
Insight: He's missed the last month with a strained oblique. Janssen finished tenth in the AL with 34 saves last season. Sergio Santos and Aaron Loup have been splitting closer duties in his absence.
Marcus Stroman, RP5/8/2014 3:01:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays pitching prospect Marcus Stroman has been used out of the bullpen since he was promoted to the majors.
Insight: Stroman was called up last weekend after posting a 1.69 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings with Triple-A Buffalo. Dustin McGowan (2.08 ERA last two starts) and J.A. Happ will need to pitch well to avoid losing their spots to Stroman, who ranks as Toronto's No. 2 prospect on MLB.com.
Adam Lind, DH5/8/2014 12:50:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Lind has missed the last three weeks with lower back tightness. He'll return to a .324 average, one homer, six RBI and a .965 OPS.
Brett Lawrie, 3B5/8/2014 12:49:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is expected to return Saturday, according to sportsnet.ca.
Insight: Lawrie left Monday's game with a hamstring injury. He has six homers and 21 RBI this season but is batting .229.
Melky Cabrera, LF5/8/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera hasn't had success against Philadelphia starter A.J. Burnett.
Insight: With a .329 average, six homers, 14 RBI, 22 runs, three steals and an .894 OPS, Cabrera is putting up numbers reminiscent of 2012, when he made the All-Star team before being suspended for testosterone use. However, he's just 3-for-24 (.125) against Burnett, Thursday's opposing starter.
Jose Reyes, SSCold5/8/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes is just 4-for-25 (.160) against Phillies starter A.J. Burnett.
Insight: Reyes has gone 4-for-33 (.121) in his last eight games and is hitting .176 this season. He shouldn't be used Wednesday against Philadelphia.
Jose Bautista, RF5/8/2014 10:07:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista has doubled twice and hit three homers in 14 at-bats against Phillies starter A.J. Burnett.
Insight: Bautista is 6-for-14 (.429) against Burnett, who will start against Toronto on Thursday. Bautista leads the majors with 34 walks and is batting .300 with nine homers, 21 RBI, 29 runs and a 1.041 OPS.
Edwin Encarnacion, DH5/8/2014 9:15:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion homered for the second straight game Wednesday against the Phillies.
Insight: Encarnacion also had a triple and drove in three runs. He had just two homers all season prior to the last two games.
Mark Buehrle, SPHot5/7/2014 10:21:00 PM
Description: Toronto left-hander Mark Buehrle was sensational in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.
Insight: By going seven shutout innings, Buehrle was able to record his sixth victory of the season. That leads all of Major League Baseball. He's also tied with Oakland's Sonny Gray for seventh in ERA (1.91). Buehrle's next start is scheduled for Monday against the Angels.
Brett Lawrie, 3B5/7/2014 4:05:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Phillies.
Insight: Lawrie left Monday's game with a hamstring injury and didn't play Tuesday. He has six homers and 21 RBI this season but is batting .229.
Colby Rasmus, CFHot5/6/2014 10:25:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus went yard for the ninth time this season Tuesday at Philadelphia.
Insight: Rasmus has homered in four of the past six games and driven in 11 runs during that span. The 27-year-old came in hitting .182 with one homer against lefties but went deep off Cole Hamels on Tuesday. Rasmus is a very streaky hitter due to his high strikeout rate, so enjoy this while it lasts.
Edwin Encarnacion, DH5/6/2014 10:23:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion belted a solo homer and went 2-for-5 Tuesday at Philadelphia.
Insight: Encarnacion had 36 homers and just 62 strikeouts last season, but he has hit .234 with three home runs and 27 Ks in 146 plate appearances this year.
Drew Hutchison, SP5/6/2014 9:50:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison held Philadelphia scoreless over the first five innings of Tuesday's game, but he gave up five runs in the sixth.
Insight: The big blow was a grand slam by Cody Asche. Hutchison ended up throwing eight innings and has a 4.17 ERA, but with a strong 9.66 K/9 and 2.41 BB/9. He should improve when his .330 BABIP regresses.
Brandon Morrow, SP5/6/2014 6:11:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos doesn't think Brandon Morrow will need surgery on his right hand, according to Gregor Chisholm of mlb.com. He suffered a torn tendon sheath on May 2 at Pittsburgh and was placed on the 60-day disabled list.
Insight: If Morrow (5.93 ERA, 1.72 WHIP) doesn't need surgery, he could be back near the All-Star break. The right-hander displayed a lofty ceiling when he struck out 381 batters in 325 1/3 innings in 2010-11 and looked to be reaching it in 2012 when he posted a 2.90 ERA in his first 77 2/3 innings. However, an oblique injury limited him to 124 2/3 innings that year and he threw just 54 1/3 while putting up a 5.63 ERA in 2013. He's now 29 years old.
Casey Janssen, SP5/6/2014 1:46:00 PM
Description: Jays closer Casey Janssen (oblique) resumed his rehab assignment Monday.
Insight: Janssen was shut down after suffering a setback in mid-April. He should take back the closer role soon after returning to Toronto. Sergio Santos was removed from the role last week in favor of Brett Cecil.
Jose Reyes, SS5/6/2014 1:20:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes has collected 22 hits in 56 at-bats against Phillies starter Cole Hamels, a .393 average.
Insight: Reyes played 10 seasons in the NL East for the Mets and Marlins, which is why he has an extensive history against Hamels. The shortstop will carry a .191 average into Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.
Brett Lawrie, 3B5/5/2014 8:35:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie had to leave Monday's game in the fourth inning because of a tight hamstring. SOURCE: Gregor Chisholm, MLB.com
Insight: He was 0-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting. Juan Francisco (.286, 3 HR, 7 RBI) will play the rest of the game at third base.
Colby Rasmus, CFHot5/4/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus has homered in three of his last four games.
Insight: Rasmus (.218) went 3-for-4 with a grand slam Sunday at Pittsburgh. The outfielder drove in nine runs over his last four games after sending home just seven in his first 26.
Melky Cabrera, LF5/4/2014 6:39:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI Sunday at Pittsburgh.
Insight: With a .336 average, six homers, 14 RBI, 19 runs, three steals and a .924 OPS, Cabrera is putting up numbers reminiscent of 2012, when he made the All-Star team before being suspended for testosterone use. He had a .279 average and three home runs in 88 games last year.
Dustin McGowan, SP5/4/2014 6:33:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Dustin McGowan allowed one run on three hits over seven innings in Sunday's win over the Pirates.
Insight: McGowan has given up three earned runs on six hits in his last 13 innings to likely save his job in the rotation. The Blue Jays placed prospect Marcus Stroman on the same starting schedule as McGowan in the minors last week, but McGowan has lowered his ERA from 6.88 to 4.80 in his last two starts.
Jose Reyes, SS5/4/2014 11:47:00 AM
Description: Jose Reyes, who is hitting leadoff Sunday at Pittsburgh, is 5-for-6 against today's starting pitcher, Edinson Volquez.
Insight: Reyes has gotten off to a brutal start (.159 AVG in 15 appearances) but maybe this favorable matchup will help him break out of his season-long slump.
Brandon Morrow, SP5/4/2014 11:05:00 AM
Description: Toronto starter Brandon Morrow has a torn tendon sheath in his right hand. The team has moved him to the 60-day disabled list.
Insight: That would explain Morrow's dreadful outing Friday against Pittsburgh (5 IP, 11 H, 3 ER). Fantasy owners shouldn't count on having Morrow (1-2, 5.93 ERA) back any time soon.
Jose Bautista, RF5/3/2014 10:55:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista slammed his ninth home run of the season and raised his batting average to .302.
Insight: We expect the power from Bautista, but the high batting average is a nice bonus.
Sergio Santos, RPCold5/3/2014 5:14:00 PM
Description: Sergio Santos has been ousted as the Blue Jays' closer. SOURCE: Barry Davis, Sportnet
Insight: Santos has blown three of his last four save chances, allowing seven hits, six walks and nine earned runs over his past six outings (20.25 ERA). Aaron Loup (1-1, 3.38 ERA) will handle the ninth inning until Casey Janssen (strained oblique) returns from the disabled list.
Brandon Morrow, SPCold5/3/2014 5:02:00 PM
Description: The Blue Jays have placed right-hander Brandon Morrow on the 15-day DL.
Insight: Morrow is coming off two disastrous outings in a row (7 ER, 11 H, 9 BB allowed in his last 7 2/3 IP) and the team seems to think he's dealing with a finger injury. It's uncertain who will take his place in the starting rotation.
Adam Lind, DH5/2/2014 7:35:00 PM
Description: The Blue Jays are hoping to activate designated hitter Adam Lind from the disabled list by the middle of next week. SOURCE: Shi Davidi, Sportsnet
Insight: Lind has missed the last two weeks with lower back tightness. Juan Francisco (.275, 3 HR, 6 RBI) will lose a lot of his fantasy value when Lind returns.
Melky Cabrera, LF5/2/2014 4:11:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera (.342, 5 HR, 11 RBI) is in Friday night's starting lineup.
Insight: He missed yesterday's game with a bruised shin. Anthony Gose went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in his absence.
Melky Cabrera, LF5/2/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera (.342, 5 HR, 11 RBI) is probable for Friday's game against Pittsburgh.
Insight: He was hit in the shin with a pitch and missed Thursday's game, but X-rays were negative and he should return. Just-brought-up Anthony Gose went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in his absence.
Melky Cabrera, LF5/1/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera is not in Thursday's starting lineup after taking a pitch off his shin on Wednesday night.
Insight: X-rays were negative. Anthony Gose (.000, 0 HR, 0 RBI) will start in left field tonight against Kansas City.
Melky Cabrera, LF5/1/2014 9:52:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera is doubtful for Thursday's game against Kansas City after taking a Yordano Ventura pitch off his left shin.
Insight: X-rays were negative. Cabrera has been very good this spring, batting .347 with five homers, 11 RBI and 18 runs scored andf looking like the guy we remember pre-suspension.
Edwin Encarnacion, DH4/29/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion is 5-for-15 (.333) with a pair of doubles and two homers in his career against Royals starter Jason Vargas.
Insight: The 31-year-old Encarnacion has started slowly, but has hit safely in five of his last six games to raise his average a dozen points. Its a small start, but this matchup may help.
Brett Lawrie, 3B4/27/2014 6:02:00 PM
Description: Toronto third baseman Brett Lawrie launched his sixth home run of the season Sunday against the Red Sox.
Insight: Lawrie is on pace to bat .179 but with 39 home runs and 130 RBI.
R.A. Dickey, SP4/27/2014 5:59:00 PM
Description: Toronto starter R.A. Dickey gave up one earned run on five hits in 6 1/3 innings Sunday versus the Red Sox to pick up his second win of the year.
Insight: Dickey has thrown two straight quality starts after allowing 10 earned runs in 11 1/3 innings in the two starts prior. He has a 5.09 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP but his K/BB is moving in the right direction (4.0 last two starts, 1.2 first four).
Jose Reyes, SSCold4/27/2014 10:49:00 AM
Description: Jays shortstop Jose Reyes has just one hit in 16 lifetime at bats versus Jon Lester.
Insight: That's not good, considering Reyes is facing Lester (2-3, 2.67 ERA) on Sunday. He's hitting just .194 since his return from the DL on April 19th (6-for-31).
Brett Lawrie, 3B4/27/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Toronto third baseman Brett Lawrie has not been sharp against Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester.
Insight: Lawrie is hitting .160 in 25 career at bats versus Lester, which is only five points lower than his season average. At least Lawrie has hit for power this season (5 HR, 18 RBI). Last year, he only had 11 HR in 107 games.
Edwin Encarnacion, DHCold4/26/2014 10:26:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion is just 1-for-21 (.048) versus Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz.
Insight: The 31-year-old Encarnacion finally got his name on the home run list, but he's still not hitting up to expectations. He's batting .226 with a .665 OPS. Update - Encarnacion is not in Saturday's starting lineup.
Brett Lawrie, 3B4/26/2014 10:00:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie is 2-for-19 (.105) against Boston starter Clay Buchholz.
Insight: Lawrie is batting an ugly .151 this season, but the third baseman does have five home runs and 18 RBI. This is certainly a matchup to be avoided.
Edwin Encarnacion, DHCold4/26/2014 6:56:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion is just 1-for-21 (.048) versus Boston right-hander Clay Buchholz.
Insight: The 31-year-old Encarnacion finally got his name on the home run list, but he's still not hitting up to expectations. He's batting .226 with a .665 OPS.
Mark Buehrle, SP4/25/2014 9:43:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle allowed 12 hits, three walks and seven runs (six earned) in 5 1/3 innings Friday against the Red Sox.
Insight: Coming into Friday, batters had gone 3-for-38 (.079) against Buehrle with men on base and he had stranded 92.9 percent of baserunners, so he was due for some regression. His ERA rose from 0.64 to 2.16.
Marcus Stroman, RP4/25/2014 1:33:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays minor league prospect Marcus Stroman has a 2.18 ERA and 26 Ks in 20 2/3 innings pitching at Triple-A Buffalo.
Insight: Assistant GM Tony LaCava told sportnet.ca, "Stroman has continued to impress ... We think his time is coming soon." Dustin McGowan's spot in the rotation could be in jeopardy considering his 6.88 ERA and 1.824 WHIP. Fantasy owners be ready to find a spot for Stroman on your roster.
Jose Bautista, RF4/25/2014 10:55:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista is a career .176 hitter (3-for-17) without an extra base hit against Boston starter Jake Peavy.
Insight: Bautista has belted four homers in his last seven games, though he's only had one multi-hit game during that span. This is definitely an unfavorable matchup.
Drew Hutchison, SP4/24/2014 9:59:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison gave up two earned runs on six hits and struck out nine in six innings Thursday against the Orioles, but Toronto's bullpen turned a 3-2 lead into an 11-4 loss.
Insight: Hutchison has an impressive 11.42 K/9 and a 3.46 ERA so far. His WHIP is a little high at 1.38, but that's only because he has been hurt by a .364 BABIP.
Brett Lawrie, 3B4/23/2014 10:41:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie raised his average to .165 with three hits Wednesday against the Orioles.
Insight: Lawrie hit a three-run homer off Chris Tillman in the second inning. Despite the low average, the third baseman has five home runs and 18 RBI because he has been opportunistic with runners on base.
Jose Reyes, SS4/23/2014 10:39:00 PM
Description: Toronto shortstop Jose Reyes hit his first home run Wednesday against the O's.
Insight: Reyes has picked up a hit in all four games since he returned from a strained hamstring along with four RBI and three runs.
Colby Rasmus, CFCold4/22/2014 11:36:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus is a cold 1-for-12 against Baltimore starter Miguel Gonzalez.
Insight: He's struck out six times. Rasmus (.197, 3 HR, 5 RBI) has struggled while dealing with a hamstring issue over the past three days. It wouldn't be surprising if he got Tuesday off in this unfavorable matchup.

Description: Just brought up Juan Francisco will start at DH for the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Description: Blue Jays 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion is just 1-for-12 versus Minnesota starter Mike Pelfrey.

Description: Jays infielder Munenori Kawasaki will start at 2B on Thursday

Brett Lawrie, 3BCold4/13/2014 7:54:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays infielder Brett Lawrie had two hits and his second homer of the season Sunday but is still hitting just .122.
Insight: Lawrie is just 6-for-49 in 13 games. He still hasn't lived up to the promise he showed in 2011 and is facing a make-or-break year as far fantasy owners are concerned.
Colby Rasmus, CFHot4/13/2014 7:52:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI Sunday at Baltimore.
Insight: Rasmus has gone deep in three of the last four games and raised his average from .100 to .217 in that stretch. The strikeouts make him extremely streaky, but the 27-year-old has proven to be an effective power hitter when he gets hot.
Dustin McGowan, SP4/11/2014 9:39:00 PM
Description: Toronto starter Dustin McGowan got his first win since June 22, 2008 Friday against the Orioles.
Insight: McGowan fired 6 1/3 scoreless innings, struck out two, walked one and gave up five hits. The right-hander dealt with numerous shoulder injuries from 2008-12 before finally returning last season and throwing 25 2/3 innings in relief. It's a good story, but he's not really a fantasy option you want to pursue.
Jose Reyes, SS4/11/2014 8:44:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes (hamstring) felt "comfortable" running Friday and will push his hamstring further on Saturday, according to Shi Davidi of sportsnet.ca.

Colby Rasmus, CF4/11/2014 9:29:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus, off his first home run of the season Thursday night, has a favorable matchup on Friday.
Insight: Rasmus is a career .429 hitter (6-for-14) with a pair of homers against Baltimore right-hander Chris Tillman. Rasmus has been horrible for most of the season (2-for-27), but over the past two games may be coming out of it (4-for-7).

Casey Janssen, SP4/9/2014 5:09:00 PM
Description: Toronto closer Casey Janssen (back strain) threw a bullpen session Wednesday, according to John Lott of the National Post.
Insight: Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Janssen was impressive. He'll throw one more bullpen before moving on to rehab games and should be back next week, barring a setback. Sergio Santos has saved three games and struck out eight batters in 3 1/3 innings this season, but he's also allowed six baserunners and will likely go back to the eighth inning when Janssen returns.
Melky Cabrera, LFHot4/8/2014 10:04:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera went deep AGAIN Tuesday against Houston.
Insight: That makes four straight games in which the Melk Man has delivered a homer. He had three homers all of last season (88 games).
Jose Bautista, RF4/8/2014 10:01:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista smacked a solo homer Tuesday against Houston.
Insight: Bautista has four round-trippers in eight games. He'll hit 40 if he can manage to play 140+ games for the first time since 2011.

Melky Cabrera, LFHot4/6/2014 7:09:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera scorched his third home run of the season Sunday in a loss to the Yankees.
Insight: He's homered in each of his last three games. Cabrera went deep three times all of last season so this represents a major improvement.

Insight: Rasmus will take a seat with left-hander CC Sabathia on the mound for the Yankees. The 27-year-old outfielder has struck out in 10 of his 22 at-bats and is hitting .091 so far.
Jose Bautista, RF4/6/2014 9:17:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista has gone 2-for-23 (.087) with one homer and eight Ks against Yankees starter CC Sabathia.
Insight: Given Sabathia's diminished velocity and struggles to keep the ball down, fantasy owners shouldn't bench Bautista Sunday, but daily league players might want to spend their money elsewhere.
Adam Lind, DH4/6/2014 9:14:00 AM
Description: Toronto DH Adam Lind is a career .220 hitters with a .606 OPS against left-handed pitchers, but he has batted.467 (7-of-15) against Yankees starter CC Sabathia in his career.
Insight: Lind only had 96 at-bats against left-handers last season and hit .208 against them. If manager John Gibbons takes career statistics into account, however, Lind will be in the lineup Sunday against Sabathia.
Sergio Santos, RP4/5/2014 7:49:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays interim closer Sergio Santos picked up a four-out save Saturday against the Yankees.
Insight: Santos got the last out of the eighth in a 1-0 game and Toronto put three runs on the board in the bottom of the inning, making it a pretty easy ninth for Santos, though he still managed to make things interesting by allowing a hit and walking a batter. The 30-year-old has gone 2-for-2 in save chances this season but put six men on base in two innings and was pulled from one save chance after walking the only batter he faced. Casey Janssen (back) will probably get the job back when he returns from the DL later this month.
R.A. Dickey, SP4/5/2014 7:47:00 PM
Description: Toronto starter R.A. Dickey rebounded from a poor Opening Day start with 6 2/3 shutout innings Saturday against the Yankees.
Insight: Dickey gave up six earned runs in five innings at Tampa Bay in his first start but scattered just five hits Saturday. He didn't walk anyone and struck out six after recording a 4/6 K/BB in the opener. The 2012 NL Cy Young Award winner had a 4.21 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP last season.
Melky Cabrera, CF4/5/2014 7:45:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera hit a homer for the second straight game Saturday against the Yankees, his former team.
Insight: Cabrera hit just three homers in 88 games last season but already has two in six games the year. The 29-year-old was tremendous in 2012, hitting .346 with 11 home runs, 60 RBI, 84 runs, 13 steals and a .906 OPS in 113 games before being suspended 50 games for testosterone use.
Jose Bautista, RF4/2/2014 10:47:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista crushed two solo homers Wednesday at Tampa Bay.
Insight: Bautista slugged six longballs this spring and has averaged 43 per 162 games over the last two seasons. Unfortunately, he played just 210 games in that span due to injuries.
Mark Buehrle, SP4/2/2014 10:44:00 PM

Adam Lind, DH4/1/2014 10:51:00 PM
Description: Toronto DH Adam Lind went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer Tuesday at Tampa Bay.

Jose Reyes, SS3/31/2014 10:57:00 PM
Description: The Blue Jays placed Jose Reyes on the 15-day disabled list, according to Jon Heyman of cbssports.com.
Insight: Reyes strained his left hamstring near the end of spring training and aggravated it on Opening Day. He has a history of hamstring injuries, among other issues, and is a huge risk for fantasy owners. Reyes played just 93 games last season due to a left ankle sprain and hit .296 with 10 homers, 58 runs and 15 steals.
R.A. Dickey, SP3/31/2014 8:26:00 PM
Description: Toronto starter R.A. Dickey walked six and allowed six earned runs in five innings on Opening Day at Tampa Bay.
Insight: Not how Dickey wanted to start the season after he had a 4.21 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP last year.
Jose Reyes, SS3/31/2014 6:19:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes exited Monday's game due to tightness in his left hamstring, according to Shi Davidi of sportsnet.ca.
Insight: It's the same hamstring Reyes strained last week. He has a history of hamstring injuries, among other issues, and is a huge risk for fantasy owners. Reyes played just 93 games last season due to a left ankle sprain and hit .296 with 10 homers, 58 runs and 15 steals.
Adam Lind, DH3/31/2014 2:11:00 PM
Description: Hopefully Adam Lind isn't your team's only first base option for Opening Day.
Insight: Lind hasn't had much success against Rays starter David Price, hitting just .194 with nine strikeouts in 36 at bats. None of Lind's 140 career home runs have come versus Price.
Sergio Santos, RP3/30/2014 5:47:00 PM
Description: Sergio Santos will close games for the Blue Jays while Casey Janssen recovers from a lower-back strain, according to Shi Davidi of sportsnet.ca.
Insight: Santos entered the 2012 season as Toronto's closer after recording a 3.55 ERA, 30 saves and 92 Ks in 63 1/3 innings with the White Sox in 2012. However, he threw just 30 2/3 innings the last two years while Janssen has put up a 2.55 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, 56 saves and 117 Ks in 116 1/3 innings during that span. Santos should be added in all leagues because he's talented enough to reclaim the job full-time.
Casey Janssen, SP3/30/2014 4:06:00 PM
Description: Toronto has placed closer Casey Janssen on the disabled list with a lower back strain.
Insight: He won't be eligible to return until April 13th. Sergio Santos (1-1, 1.75 ERA in 2013) will fill in at closer in the mean time.
Jose Reyes, SS3/27/2014 2:54:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes (left hamstring strain) will start in the field on Friday.
Insight: Reyes suffered a minor left hamstring strain over the weekend. He has a history of hamstring injuries, among other issues, and is a huge risk for fantasy owners, but apparently will be ready for Opening Day. Reyes played just 93 games last season due to a left ankle sprain and hit .296 with 10 homers, 58 runs and 15 steals.
J.A. Happ, SP3/26/2014 4:23:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ (back) will begin the year on the disabled list, according to the Toronto Star.
Insight: Happ gave up 16 earned runs and 21 hits while walking nine in seven innings this spring. He'll try to work out his issues and can be ignored by fantasy owners.
Dustin McGowan, SP3/26/2014 4:20:00 PM
Description: Dustin McGowan will serve as Toronto's fifth starter to begin the season, according to the Toronto Star.
Insight: McGowan threw just 21 big league innings from 2009-12 due to three separate shoulder surgeries to repair a frayed labrum and torn rotator cuff before returning for 25 2/3 frames last year. His best season was 2007, when he went 12-10 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 169 2/3 innings. He could be a decent AL-only option, but there's no need to draft him in mixed leagues.
Edwin Encarnacion, DH3/26/2014 4:12:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopolous said 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion is "fine," according to Barry Davis of sportsnet.ca.
Insight: Encarnacion was hit by a pitch near the right wrist and left Wednesday's game for precautionary reasons. The 31-year-old Encarnacion proved his 42-homer 2012 season was no fluke when he launched 36 bombs last year. He also struck out just 62 times, an amazingly low number for a power hitter.
Edwin Encarnacion, DH3/26/2014 3:12:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays 1B/DH Edwin Encarnacion was hit by a pitch near his right wrist during Wednesday's game, according to Gregor Chisholm of mlb.com.
Insight: Encarnacion had surgery on his left wrist in the offseason; fortunately this was the other one. He left the game but was spotted hanging around in the dugout so he's probably fine. The 31-year-old Encarnacion proved his 42-homer 2012 season was no fluke when he launched 36 bombs last year. He also struck out just 62 times, an amazingly low number for a power hitter.

Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes (left hamstring strain) could rejoin the lineup as the DH Friday, according to Gregor Chisholm of mlb.com.
Insight: Reyes suffered a minor left hamstring strain over the weekend. He has a history of hamstring injuries, among other issues, and is a huge risk for fantasy owners. Reyes played just 93 games last season due to a left ankle sprain and hit .296 with 10 homers, 58 runs and 15 steals.
Jose Reyes, SS3/22/2014 4:02:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes left Saturday's game with a tight hamstring.
Insight: For a guy who lives by his speed, both in the field and at the plate this could be a disaster. Though his leaving is claimed to be "precautionary" with Reyes' injury history one must be wary.
Casey Janssen, SP3/18/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen (shoulder) threw live batting practice Tuesday, according to mlb.com.
Insight: Janssen was shut down a few weeks ago with shoulder tendinitis, and Tuesday was his final tuneup before returning to game action. He should pitch in a game on Friday unless he has a setback over the next two days. Janssen had a 2.56 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP and 34 saves in 36 chances last season.
Jose Bautista, RFHot3/14/2014 3:55:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista appears to be healthy again and that's bad news for opposing pitchers.
Insight: Bautista has already hit three homers this preseason and is batting .375 throughthe first 10 games. He hit .259 with 28 home runs, 73 RBI, 82 runs and an .856 OPS, but played just 118 games last season due to injury.
J.A. Happ, SP3/6/2014 2:20:00 PM
Description: Toronto lefthander J.A. Happ has been dealing with a sore back and it shows in his early work (1.3 IP, 40.50 ERA, 8.25 WHIP).
Insight: Happ (5-7, 4.56 ERA) is thought to be solidly in the Blue Jays rotation, but after last season's performance if a young guy shows up big in spring training, its possible Happ gets left behind.
Casey Janssen, SP3/3/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays closer Casey Janssen will resume throwing later this week, according to Jayson Stark of espn.com.
Insight: Janssen was shut down on Saturday with shoulder tendinitis. He had a 2.56 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP and 34 saves in 36 chances last season. Either Sergio Santos or Steve Delabar would take over closing duties if Janssen went down, but right now the move to shut him down is considered precautionary.
R.A. Dickey, SP2/18/2014 7:49:00 PM
Description: R.A. Dickey will be Toronto's Opening Day starter. SOURCE: Shi Davidi, Sportsnet
Insight: He'll be on the mound March 31st against the Rays. Dickey's 2013 campaign was a bit of a letdown (14-13, 4.21 ERA). After starting the year 2-5, he's lucky he made it back to .500.
Roy Halladay, SP12/9/2013 11:24:00 AM
Description: Free agent righthander Roy Halladay will retire, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Insight: Always the perfectionist, Halladay struggled with shoulder problems and couldn't pitch at his usual high level last season. He'll finish his career with a 203-105 record, a 3.38 ERA, 1.178 WHIP and 2,117 stikeouts.
Josh Johnson, SP11/19/2013 6:26:00 PM
Description: According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Travis Sawchik, the Pirates are one of the team's righthander Josh Johnson is considering.
Insight: He'd be a nice replacement for A.J. Burnett, assuming Pittsburgh can get him for relatively cheap. 2013 was arguably the worst season of Johnson's career (2-8, 6.20 ERA) but injuries certainly played a role in his struggles. Pitching coach Ray Searage is no stranger to reclamation projects. Last season, Twins castoff Francisco Liriano became a Cy Young candidate under Searage's tutelage.
Josh Johnson, SP11/13/2013 9:24:00 PM
Description: Free agent righthander Josh Johnson is already being pursued by the Royals. SOURCE: Buster Olney, ESPN
Insight: Well, at least somebody wants him. Johnson (2-8, 6.20 ERA) was terrible last season and has had tremendous difficulty staying healthy throughout his career. Kansas City would be crazy to give him anything longer than a one-year deal.
Adam Lind, DH11/10/2013 3:24:00 PM
Description: Despite having his option picked up last week, the Blue Jays could still look to trade Adam Lind this offseason. SOURCE: Nick Cafardo, Boston Globe

Casey Janssen, SP10/31/2013 9:37:00 PM
Description: Jays closer Casey Janssen had his option picked up on Thursday. SOURCE: Sportsnet
Insight: It's worth $4 million. Janssen's 34 saves this season were a career-high and the highest total by a Toronto closer since B.J. Ryan in 2008.
Adam Lind, DH10/31/2013 8:43:00 PM
Description: Toronto DH/1B Adam Lind had his option picked up for 2014. SOURCE: Sportsnet
Insight: He'll earn $7 million next season. Lind led the Blue Jays in hitting this year with a .288 average in 465 at bats.
Josh Johnson, SP10/2/2013 8:27:00 PM
Description: Toronto starter Josh Johnson underwent a procedure to remove bone spurs from his right elbow on Tuesday morning. SOURCE: MLB Trade Rumors
Insight: The ailment would explain why Johnson struggled so mightily during his first season with the Blue Jays (2-8, 6.20 ERA). Given his history of injuries and how poorly he pitched in 2013, he's going to be a tough sell on draft day next March.
Brett Lawrie, 3B9/28/2013 12:09:00 PM

Jose Reyes, SSHot8/10/2013 7:13:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes hit his ninth home run Saturday against Oakland, which is just two fewer than he had all of last season.
Insight: Reyes has reached nine homers in just 50 games; it took him 160 last year to hit 11. He's batting .309 with 28 RBI and 34 runs in his first season in Toronto.
Jose Bautista, RF8/10/2013 7:06:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs Saturday against Oakland.
Insight: Bautista has reached 27 home runs, which is as many as he had last season through 92 games last year before a wrist injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. It took him a little longer this year, 17 games to be exact. The right fielder is 15-for-30 (.500) with three doubles, one home run, five RBI and a 1/5 K/BB over his last eight games.
J.P. Arencibia, C8/9/2013 10:15:00 AM
Description: Toronto catcher J.P. Arencibia is a late scratch for Wednesday's game with Seattle due to a sore right knee and is questionable for Friday's game against Oakland.
Insight: Arencibia is having a pretty typical season, hitting for good power (17 HR) but with lots of strikeouts (111 whiffs in 355 at bats). Josh Thole has started the last three games, but has little-to-no fantasy value.
Mark DeRosa, 3B8/8/2013 10:22:00 AM
Description: The Blue Jays have decided to keep third baseman Mark DeRosa. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: DeRosa was claimed off waivers but instead of facilitating a trade the Jays are just going to hold onto him. A part-time player, DeRosa is hitting .231 this season with 7 HR and 29 RBI.
J.P. Arencibia, C8/7/2013 4:03:00 PM
Description: Toronto catcher J.P. Arencibia is a late scratch for Wednesday's game with Seattle due to a sore right knee.

J.A. Happ, SP8/6/2013 9:10:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left-hander J.A. Happ has been activated from the 60-day disabled list and is expected to start on Wednesday.
Insight: Happ hasn't pitched since being hit in the head by a line drive on May 7. He's made seven starts this season, going 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA and 1.55 WHIP and didn't look very good in three Triple-A rehab starts (6.75 ERA) so still has very little fantasy value.
Melky Cabrera, CF8/5/2013 2:16:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera, on the disabled list with a strained left knee, will not face any additional punishment beyond the 50 games he served last season, according to Ken Rosenthal.
Insight: Cabrera has just three homers, 30 RBI two steals and a .682 OPS - a far cry from the pre-suspended Cabrera production. At this point in time, Rajai Davis is the better fantasy option anyway and he'll get most of Cabrera's at-bats.
Brett Lawrie, 3B8/5/2013 11:55:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays infielder Brett Lawrie is hitless in eight career at-bats versus Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma with four strikeouts.
Insight: Lawrie missed all of June and half of July because of a sprained ankle. He's just starting to hit up to his potential, batting .311 over the past two weeks, but this is an unfavorable matchup.
Steve Delabar, RPCold8/4/2013 3:20:00 PM
Description: Toronto relief pitcher Steve Delabar has been placed on the 15-day DL.
Insight: He's out with right shoulder inflammation. Delabar has struggled mightily since the All-Star break, collecting a 9.39 ERA in eight appearances. The righthander was 5-1 with a 1.71 ERA in the first half of the season.
Adam Lind, 1B8/4/2013 10:00:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays first baseman Adam Lind is 5-for-10 with three extra base hits and a 1.683 OPS versus Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson.
Insight: Lind is just 1-for-10 in the first three games of the four-game set with the Angels, but has a favorable matchup. Lind is batting .284 with 13 HR and 40 RBI in 95 games.
Rajai Davis, CF8/2/2013 9:10:00 AM
Description: Toronto outfielder Rajai Davis should get a chance to play everyday with Melky Cabrera sidelined by a knee injury.
Insight: Davis won't produce prower, but he's an excellent speed option. He's batting .276 with 31 runs scored and 31 stolen bases in just 192 at-bats.
Melky Cabrera, CF8/2/2013 9:08:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera was placed on the disabled list with a strained left knee.
Insight: Cabrera has just three homers, 30 RBI two steals and a .682 OPS - a far cry from the pre-suspended Cabrera production. At this point in time, Rajai Davis is the better fantasy option anyway and he'll get most of Cabrera's at-bats.
Sergio Santos, RP8/1/2013 10:40:00 AM
Description: Toronto righthander Sergio Santos has been activated from the 60-day DL.
Insight: Elbow issues have sidelined Santos since April. He's not expected to have any fantasy value aside from leagues that use holds as a rotisserie category.
Rajai Davis, CF7/28/2013 7:39:00 PM
Description: Toronto outfielder Rajai Davis swiped four bases and went 1-for-3 with a walk Sunday against the Astros.
Insight: Davis stole third base three times. The outfielder has 31 steals this season and is headed for his fourth 40-steal season in the last five years.
Melky Cabrera, CF7/28/2013 7:28:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a double Sunday against the Astros.
Insight: Cabrera has just three homers, 30 RBI two steals and a 5.5 percent extra-base hit rate in 356 plate appearances. He's batting .284, but his OPS is under .700.
Edwin Encarnacion, DHHot7/27/2013 8:09:00 PM
Description: Jays designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion stayed hot by crushing four hits Saturday in a loss to Houston.
Insight: All four hits were singles. So far in the series, Encarnacion is 7-for-8 with two homers and six RBI. At the start of the series, his batting average was at .264. Now he's all the way up to .277.
Josh Johnson, SPCold7/27/2013 4:25:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays right-hander Josh Johnson dropped to 1-7 after allowing seven runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings Saturday against the Astros.
Insight: If Johnson can't be trusted against the lowly Astros, he can't be trusted against anybody. The righty has allowed 19 earned runs in 13 2/3 innings over his last three starts and owns a 6.08 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP this season. It's time to move on.
Edwin Encarnacion, DH7/26/2013 10:40:00 PM
Description: Friday against the Astros, Blue Jays DH Edwin Encarnacion smashed two homers in one inning.
Insight: And the second one was a grand slam. You don't see that too often. The home runs came as part of an eight-run seventh inning that sent 11 men to the plate. Encarnacion finished the night with three hits and five RBI. He's now third in the American League in home runs (28) and RBI (80). He trails Miguel Cabrera and Chris Davis in both categories.
Mark Buehrle, SP7/25/2013 9:50:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays left-hander Mark Buehrle fired a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts against the woeful Houston Astros Thursday night.
Insight: Buehrle came in having allowed 139 hits and 66 earned runs in 123 innings this season, so facing the Astros was a nice relief for the left-hander. It doesn't mean that he's a fantasy option, however.
Brandon Morrow, SP7/25/2013 5:13:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow (forearm) will miss six more weeks due to an entrapped radial nerve in his right forearm, according to Jon Morosi of FOXSports.com.
Insight: His season is likely over after Dr. James Andrews made that diagnosis. The right-hander hasn't pitched since leaving a start on May 28 with a sore forearm.
